Is opening the Piggy Bank worth it?

In relation to the Piggy Bank (the one that fills up with gems progresivelly after you unlock it and start completing levels afterward), is it worth it to open it once it’s full? By that I mean if it’s price-convenient compared to the gem prices on the store and if the amount is fair for the price being.
