Desperate Dan
@desperate-danGet yer ladder ‘n’ bucket down ‘ere Brian. My regular wind cleaner has done a runner. Having a baby apparently.
I know you are a glazing hygiene technician or some such thing but putting that on one side, are you a window cleaner or a windowcleaner? Or even a window-cleaner?
This site is nothing if not informative.
ixan57
@ixan57@desperate-dan must say haven’t seen any women window cleaners but there must be some.
to mock a mockingbird
@vuelvaDaisy Ridley ?
Desperate Dan
@desperate-danOh, good call @vuelva. She does a great job on my windows.
Brian N
@briannAs I’ve said before my wife gave it a go doing the downstairs as I did upstairs and you guys never did guess why she quit after one day.What we need is a really clever scientist to visit the BP and work it out but what are the chances?
Hey @vuelva in the interests of Anglo-Dutch relations I must say we Brits have never produced a player of the quality of Johan Cruyff(I believe it’s actually spelt Cruijjjkx*@<ffahhh!!!!!).Even had a football move named after him.Best we Brits could come up with was…er…Best.Never had a football move named after him but was the first player I ever saw who passed the ball back to himself off the opposing defender’s shins while skipping past him like a 5 year old in the playground.Leaving said defender doing an impression of a potty-mouthed Michael Flatley.
Anyway I came here to present Japan’s Eurovision entry 1984ish(I learnt all I know about geography from our beloved Kathy xxx) https://youtu.be/cXZanbZ6PWs?si=DAN7mh6qH_TaUXdc
If anyone gets the link between this and The Fall I’ll eat my hat.
Desperate Dan
@desperate-dan<p style=”text-align: left;”>Your hat is safe @brianN. So are ABo puppies. Another long long gap in The Challenge.</p>
Brian N
@briannThat’s a relief I couldn’t find any recipes for hats though I came across beef wellington.
Brian N
@briannSheff Utd 1-2 Sunderland.My old man would’ve loved that.Almost felt sorry for Chris Wilder but I don’t like him,so no.
Brian N
@briannSo @ixan57 I know you won’t sleep if I don’t give you that link.One of the Frank Chickens is married to Grant Showbiz who was The Fall’s long time,long suffering sound engineer.Must’ve been on over half of their studio output and many gigs.
Must be the most thankless task in all pop music given Mark’s penchant for fiddling with knobs during gigs(not a euphemism).He was even a menace in the studio but I’ll save the Imperial Wax Solvent story for another day.You can have too much of a good thing.
ixan57
@ixan57Was just wondering how @HunnyBunny was doing in calpe
Brian N
@briannThought you’d come back with something like:”The Fall had a sound engineer?”
As for the Bunny roasted and wasted is my guess.
Desperate Dan
@desperate-danWell at least Arsenal won something this year. Certainly the year of the underdog. Aberdeen must be well supported round your way @BrianN? Are they dancing on the streets of Brechin tonight?
Brian N
@briannThey were staggering on the streets of Montrose when I dropped my daughter off at the train station around 7.00 pm.It’s Mofest weekend and though it’s not what it was pre-covid the pubs do a steady trade.
As for the footy there were probably more disaffected,self-entitled Celtic fans.
Brian N
@briannThere has been a sharing of trophies this year at the top end.Liverpool with the title,Man City Community Shield,Newcastle League Cup,Palace FA Cup,Spurs Europa League and potentially Chelsea Conference League.It’s good to share.
When I lived in the Fraserburgh area quite a few followed Aberdeen but here in Brechin/Montrose it’s more Dundee Utd with yer odd quirky rebel suporting Dundee.Countless numpties follow the Old Firm.
HunnyBunny
@hunnybunnyHome from Calpe, enjoyed very much, thankfully missed the pseudo-Eurovision and football comments
HunnyBunny
@hunnybunny@BrianN she quit because her hair got wet?
Desperate Dan
@desperate-danShe quit because all she could see of you all the time was your arse.
Desperate Dan
@desperate-danOr was that a good thing?
Brian N
@briannYou guys are so literal-minded.Also she always says it’s my best feature,doesn’t say much for my face does it?
Brian N
@briannSomeone mentioned that great French poet Cantona a while back and I came across one of his quotes yesterday when looking something up about Pele.He compares the great man’s pass to Carlos Alberto in the World Cup final 1970 to the early poems of Rimbaud.It really is a thing of beauty ,so casual,almost a ‘no look’ pass to no one in particular…but wait…here’s Carlos… https://youtu.be/a4mhWyBb5Ow?si=8sOPAwAodIDQBcu_
I’ll let you decide but to me it’s got middle period Wordsworth written all over it.
Desperate Dan
@desperate-danI remember watching this live in 1970. We didn’t have a TV set then so ended up watching it at the local National Children’s Home. Why we had to go to a nearby orphanage to watch the World Cup Final is a complicated story. It would have been like for most people at that time, in black and white.
This was the pinnacle of Brazil’s brilliance. It has been argued that the whole of football has gone downhill since then, it terms of corporate greed and cynical cheating players. Maybe, maybe not. But has there ever been a better team than this? Everyone was expecting England to be their opponents but of course Gordon Banks drank that “bad beer”before the quarter-finals… The Italians were totally cooked by the time this goal was scored but even so, it is worthy of poetry IMO.
HunnyBunny
@hunnybunnyStarted singing, or hearing you singing, George Formby?
HunnyBunny
@hunnybunnyClimacophobia?
Brian N
@briannKeep going @hunnybunny you’re getting there.
