Arena Rigged?

  • If you are into the competitive play within Angry Birds Epic, you may notice a few problems. I have a theory: the past month I have been playing a recurring theme has been shown. That theme is that I always win the first 2-3 matches. But then, I almost always lose the coin flip in the third or fourth match as well as the game. The thing is, the enemy’s birds seem so much more powerful, almost as if the game is designed to pick a match up you cannot win eventually. Not to mention, the AI (yes, the enemy is controlled by bots, since they always do the same thing), always can calculate exactly the damage needed and attack accordingly. What do you guys think?

I believe I heard somewhere on the nest that the higher you are on your leaderboard, the tougher your opponents are which could explain your losing problems.

I agree that the coin flip is a bit fishy though.

If you get a enemy to strong for you just do a friendly match with piggy( you dont need to finish it) and then try again. You will see a different enemy. ;)

I lose about 50% of the toss so I just expect to lose it and play accordingly.

I have noticed that the first (and sometimes second) battle I have when the 24 hours resets is usually with a weaker set of birds, but the third is often a lot tougher.

I have also encountered a team with lower points than my own which seems to be able to slice through mine in quick time. I do believe that the system wants to ensure you lose a couple of lives during the day. I often never have to buy another set of lives but it happened yesterday and after that, I had a good run of wins…

Okay I Know that this thread is about the coin flip being fishy and all this other stuff, but why am I on a board with level 50s at level 32. I thought players are supposed to be catogerized by level!!!I heard about a level 50 battling level 1 players.

About your problem… its about the power… They try to put you agains someone with near power.

The coin flip doesn’t seem fishy on my game, it can happen I lose it at the first and second match, and it can also happen I win it at the fourth or fifth match. But yeah, the enemies do get stronger the more consecutive battles you do – if there’s a player that’s too strong or tanky or something it often helps me to either battle Piggy McCool quickly, or close and restart the app – that causes me to get a new opponent with different birds.
The first 2-3 matches are against enemies a bit weaker than yourself. The matches afterwards put you against enemies equally strong or stronger than yourself.
The coin flip can really decide a match. Most of the time, when I win the flip I win the match. And when I lose the flip I usually lose the match too.

About the coin flip. I have heard a theory that the coin odds are related to the power difference in the teams. The stronger team gets better odds, and the greater the power difference, the greater the odds. A couple of weeks ago, I experienced a weird anomaly, in which I had around 50 opponents in a row be significantly weaker than me. By like 500-600 power points. I won something like 43 of those 50 coin flips.

The last time I was this lucky to get weak opponents like this was in Season 3 or something XD
That was when I still got Lv. 1 opponents which were obviously easy to kill… Right now I’m at 750-800 power, depending on which birds I use, and my first opponents are 650-750 power and later opponents can have 900 and more. I never had a battle against a 200-300 power opponent in weeks.

The coin flips are in my favor more often than not even when I am winning battles.
I played 226 battles a couple of days ago and won 158 out of the 226 flips.

Out of the 226 battles, I was matched against teams with power of 800 or below 4 times (I am at power of 1500+). I lost the coin flip all 4 times.

One thing I’ve notice is that AI teams seems to get TJ/resurrect/other abilities activations a lot more frequently the more battles I win. I had one battle where the AI Chuck gets 6 consecutive TJ activations in turn 1 of a battle. Needless to say, he manage to KO all my birds and kill my banner that turn.

Statistically, you should expect the coin flip to be a 50/50 thing. Just tweak your line up so that you can get your birds to survive turn 1 or recover quickly in the event you lose the coin flip.
