I got through to support to moan about what is going on and why no more events etc. The reply more or less confirms our fears that Rovio are slowly bleeding this game till it curls up into a dry husk. They are not ending it (as such) but certainly no planned events or islands and I guess Dr Pig as well?
It was a good run but I would suggest you don’t spend any more cash on this game unless they do re-consider things.
Here was their reply:
We are not currently running events and do not have any plans to continue them for now.
We are not working on new islands or other content. The game is staying open.
We apologise for the inconvenience.
Yes, this looks like there standard response now.
Unfortunately, your advice makes sense but is counter productive. The advice should be everyone buys a gem pack to give Rovio a reason to reconsider.ranoverray@ranoverray
Unbelievable….I can’t believe what Jerks they are. They have become so incredibly purely greed and profit driven (nothing wrong with being profit drive) that Rovio == evil . They are heartless and sneaky.
I am boycotting Lloyd Rovio games and never buy a single gem again on any of their games.
Fight was the best and my favorite.
What the hell is wrong with you Rovio?
There are a lot of very angry players on the AB Fight FB Pro page/group & apparently Apple agrees with them as to how Rovio has handled this because refunds for in App purchase are being issued. There may only be a small group complaining about how Rovio handled this, but it would seem Apple listens better to their customers. I think some Google players are requesting refunds.
Perhaps this will impact how Rovio & other developers handle their decisions to stop running Events for which players use in App purchases to participate.
@tomt, not 100% sure, but I presume Apple agrees with customers/players….then again, it has to be charged back to Rovio, so it won’t be Apple that loses the revenue. I really hope A LOT of players receive refunds & it impacts how Rovio & other game companies handle the cessation of Events like we had in Fight. I still have quite a lot or Arena Tickets & will give Rovio another week or so before requesting a refund as their reply to Events say & I’m paraphrasing, “not now,” vs “never again.”
Edited to add: what can I say, I’m an optimist.
“there were still players to be matched up” – Yeah the game is still playable as long as they do not shut down their servers and I know that lots of friends still play it. For that you don’t need events. I just wonder why they don’t start events automatically, or just restart them, with same rewards (lots of newer people never played the older events). After all it’s the puzzle part of the game that makes it so great.
@tomt, Rovio has said the game is open & I’m 99.99% sure I saw an email from someone on the AB Fight Pro FB page that said no decision had been made as to the game. The Daily Challenges are still running with the 5-Gems awarded at the end of 7 days.
@vmicho, I presume their software coding ended Events with the last one & those who write their game codes really are focused on other/newer games. Personally, I believe they have very limited staff & those people are enhancing new games & correcting errors in the new & other games. They’re only human & can’t work on Fight plus the new game like Battle Bay.
I hoped that once Battle Bay took off they’d restart the Fight Events but it’s been 2 weeks. Let’s hope seeing player refund (pressure) from Apple & probably Google restart Fight. I REALLY belive that Rovio forgets or doesn’t realize that people who pay to play aren’t just players, they are consumers who should be protected from unethical business practices. I think shutting down the Monster Pig Event/Raid & Arena (that some people save/hoard Items to use) is an unethical business practice. I’ve read too many people reference the fact they’ve saved purchased Gems & Arena Tickets. I’m going to send Rovio a follow-up to my query two weeks ago, so we’ll see if there’s any clarity. So far from what I’m reading they’ve replied to others I/we still won’t get an actual answer.
Edited to add: I read 1 player on the AB Fight Pro FB page, a 70yr old was so negatively vocal on a Rovio page (warning new players not to spend any money because of the way Rovio has treated Fight & other players,) that they removed her comment(s)/post & she’s not unable to post on that page. I don’t think she’s exaggerating, I believe her.
Hm…. there are still people playing. I have no problem getting matched up with other players.
Yeah. Sadly, the shareholders see it clear: most money are made from stupid games (don’t think, just tap-tap-tap for awesome, rebuy if fail) – you surely have seen lots of ads in-games for those stupid games. AB fight creates some challenge for the average r*tards, thus not very attractive for them.
As for me I still didn’t find any replacement for ABF, so I’m staying in game :D. That puzzle fighter part is just awesome.TailsTheDigger!@tailsthediggerOxfordRob@oxfordrob
End of an era. It is a shame that this is all lead by just pure greed. Sure make some money delivering a good product but don’t fleece people and then just kill it when you are not getting enough. Shame but it was good whilst it lasted.
Those cowards, they’ve now even removed the post from their FB site! I’ve just reloaded and *poof* it was gone. Coooooooowaaaaaaaards!TailsTheDigger!@tailsthedigger
Still online until it shuts down in November :c
* Yeah. Still working well.
* And dunno what will be the status of the Nov shutdown. Those Indian cowards have removed the announcement next day with all the angry comments from the their bookface.
Well I meant the recent incompetence in development, and amateurism in their FB announcement handling, and un-seriousness in their support area (inability to understand English, and some Engrish in their responses) – all makes me pretty sure they’ve outsourced all to India :D
