With a little luck Angry Birds Surf and Turf level 12 can be done with one bird. Fire the yellow bird straight ahead and dislodge the stone beam sitting between the two hollow wood blocks. Sit and watch the cascading destruction and hope that nothing gets stuck. If it does, restart and repeat. The score in the video below is 95,350.
Version 2022:
Score 100130 as per the video
Ditto. 103370
I hit the wooden cube above the stone beam. Got 103100!
Sure enough I made a video
don’t see your cursor?
Not everyone plays on PC. But the trajectory is the trajectory. Cursor location is not a necessary delimiter.
Thanks E-Star. I got a score of 104090. I wish you had been around for level 10. Your videos are so helpful. I really dislike watching the videos with the cursor and all those symbols across the top. Very distracting & the scores are hard to follow. So I am really glad you
are here for some of these levels. Thanks again.
Glad I can be off help @duffy
I have made videos of all the levels, but I only postmy video if the strat is different or way higher than the top one. So if you want you can see the clean walkthroughs, you just have to click my name and check my profile for the link to my YouTube, ou should see a range of playlist, the playlist for Surf and Turf is almost at the bottom i think. Hope it helps :)
Thanks E – star. That’s really good to know. I think it’s so super you do the videos. It’s so much easier than trying to visualize people’s explanations. It’s a real service and I thank you again for your help.
Did the @E-Star shot and hit the wooden cube. Obtained 104,600. Out of curiosity will try the zero bird technique to see if it has not been rectified.
The zero bird glitch is still present. Twice both sides partially fell for 43k. Once the right side completely fell and the left side was partial for 62k. Once the entire structure fell starting with the right side.
Thanks @e-star! Got 104670 using your method. Does anyone know what the highest 1-bird score is? I haven’t seen the 0-birder, or even partial.
I love that your poppin in about now with your vids my sweet friend! I did darn well with your help @e-star :). Now I’m gunna see if I’m lucky enough to get this self destruct thingy everyone’s talking about!! Haha I swear all my apps have an *oh this is kimmie, nope no self destruct for her disclaimer* but we shall see! ;D
@e-star comes through again and I can’t thank her enough! Playing this updated version of ABO has been a lot harder than in previous ones and without your videos I would’ve plucked all of my feathers out by now. Head over to the BP for a Greyhound on me!
Your videos are always the greatest @E-Star – Thanks!
0 birder is possible. Just keep resetting. Don’t wait more than 10-15 seconds. Watch for movement around the lower, central glass square. The structure is built quite well so it takes a lot of tries to pull it off. I had several attempts were one side was destroyed but the other was still standing. 112k after about 500 resets.
I thought that the higher scores on this level were from people shooting the first YB over the structure at a shallow angle, just clipping the top right corner of the top right hollow wooden square and then having the body of the YB continuing to smash the two trees down the right of the main structure. The shot is extremely difficult to pull off (especially where you cut the base off BOTH of the trees) but you can get around 3-7K points from the trees. What I was finding though was that even when I pulled off the ridiculous angle you need to make the shot work that the structure just didn’t fall in on itself with any sort of reasonable force and the likelihood of a decent score from this strat was fairly small.
Thanks for your tip. Otherwise I would not have tried to complete this level with 0 bird. I spent a few hours and almost did it many times but I only had 3 successful runs. I got 109k, 111k and 114k (3rd successful run).
Took over half an hour, only did it twice, the first time left one bird.
104070…. On My third Try.
I confirm this is a painful and time consuming 0 birder ! Just follow natureswrath’s instructions and pray for a miracle ! I’ve spent a while on this level resetting hundred times but eventually got 114890 ! Here is the screenshot –> http://img140.imageshack.us/img140/7633/img0808.png
Good luck guys !!
No birder….. 113k+….like other comments took a little over an hour of watching tv and waiting. Took 3 falls before all pigs were taken out.
Claimed top spot but feel a little dirty. 115110. No-birder on the third time. No skill whatsoever. But No. 1 doesn’t come around too often so I guess I will take it ;) natureswrath tip is key. Zoom in on the pyramid and watch the lower ice square…
This 0-birder is killing me! Fifth time the strucure collapses and finally all pigs get killed. Only 96k….
I tried the 0-birder and got bored. So I took the more difficult backside shot and added 2k to my score. I’m wondering if Rovio fixed the 0-birders for the Android release?
Not another 0-bird level, this one I’ll have to try on my droid….
Congrats rdnzrips82, on your new rank!!!!! :D
Thanks, sunshine! I’m proud of it!! I appreciate your vote for a Share the Wealth badge. I’m just going to try to offer good advice and strats until I can get more support on the matter. I sometimes feel that my wordiness might be a little much. My wife tells me that I tend to beat a lot of dead horses. :)
Let me know if you get this 0-birder on your Android. I would almost bet Rovio fixed it before the Android release. I wonder if Slim our anyone else knows the answer?
I had the structure collapse on it’s own on Android, not a successfull 0-birder but atleast I know it is still possible.
Thanks, thetoddman23! I was waiting for someone to respond on the matter. I’ll give it a try later today.
I have not had any luck, it doesn’t even look unstable to me! :)
How long does you have to wait for the structure to collapse?
It’s usually decently quick, I’ve had it collapse a good five times now. The main spot you want to look at is the ice square in the bottom middle, the cement beam to its left will start to slide to the left. Most of the time it will stop but will patience it will keep going for an eventual 0-birder. If no movement occurs in about 5 seconds it’s safe to restart.
Truly confirmed regarding the 5 second restart. My 0 birder was slightly different, the cement beam to the right went to the right, then suddently the top pig in the glass box started to fall, causing the total collapse.
I have noticed the instances where the cement beam to the right collapses to the right you have a better chance of clearing the level and getting higher scores, when the left beam goes it seems to get everything stuck.
Did it with 0 birds on my second try of the level, without even knowing about the 0-bird option.I had played it once, 1 star. Reset, and delayed a few seconds to read an e-mail on my PC, then looked at my Android phone and saw things crashing down.
105350
can u get a 0-birder on the PC on facebook ??????
May want to look at the Facebook walkthrough page
Thanks E-Star…. 101440….
Does it matter whether you are zoomed in or out? For the no-birder? I have tried too many times … hasn’t even broken a little bit on its own.
It shouldn’t matter wether you are zoomed in or not.
According to @natureswrath, it took him about 500 resets to achieve his score.
Persistence does pay off eventually.
Good luck.
Thanks. I guess I should starting counting my tries…but I know I’m up well over 100 by now. I can get 103,960 with one bird but can’t make it do that no-birder.
I posted this above in naturewrath’s post, but decided to add it to the bottom as well.
Could you describe the ‘movement’ you are talking about around that central cube?
Every time I reset, the whole structure moves, shakes, settles or something.
I am on a PC if that makes a difference.
Feel a little bad with this score, watched the vid and then read all the comments, I thought it could not possibly happen on two levels in one night (already had the other no birder), opened it up and it all came crashing down on the first attempt!! I’ll go back and try it properly now.
OK! so it is possible on a PC.
If you want to try ‘properly’ it will probably only give you 102k to 104K max. My score of 105030 only came when I tired of waiting for the structure to fall after some movement at the top showed up.
Wow! I had no idea there was another 0-birdie here…mine doesn’t seem to be unstable at all, lol…I haven’t even seen the slightest movement…Got 103900 the “proper” way, lol…but I’m gonna see if I have patience to try for the higher 0 birdie score. Atleast everyone’s saying it should happen pretty quickly upon restart as I don’t think I have time for an all nighter ;-)
btw, Got my score with 1 bird from a high arch down through the top blue ice square.
I just had two zero birders about 5 minutes apart for 110220. The first one didn’t complete, and the second one went down fast. Both real quick after a restart.
But I will say that is not the norm! It has been a long time coming on my PC version.
My ‘proper’ way is to fire that YB fast to the top gray plank and make it quickly break the glass under it then the bottom glass cube, and take the heart out of the structure. IMO, High scores without the zero guy depend on a fast fall of the thing!
My bad! I meant ‘normal’ high scores, not anywhere near the zero bird scores.
101 K +, on LOB shot. come in from above on top of upper left wooden block, BOOST just before impact. [rptbl 3 of 10] gonna try the wooden box top right, now <?shot rdnz meant?}""" the more difficult backside shot and added 2k to my score"""
Just got my first 0-birder. I hit reset and was reading some comments, then BAM!!!
Anyone get a 0-birder lately? Seems like I’ve played about 10X longer than I usually would and no collapse. Can still see the structure move once in awhile but not enough.
I just got a 0-birder today, 7/6/12, 113k, took between 30-40 resets on iPod touch.
@Bjjaz — Are you aware that there is a forum on self-destroying and unstable levels? This one is on the list, but if you find any more, please report them in the forum:
https://www.angrybirdsnest.com/forum/discussion/873/please-add-to-list-of-self-destroying-and-unstable-levels
Thanks
While you’re in forum, consider joining the ABN members’ map and stop by the Bloated Pig.
Hope to see more of you.
@mvnla2, no I was new and didn’t realize that, thanks for the info! I will definitely go check it out!
Good to know the 0-birder is still working, thanks Bjjaz.
@thetoddman23 while you’re here, congratulations on your recent fling king rank, as well as the new badges i finally got you approved for. The crown looks good on you.
Thanks Bill, I appreciate the recommendations.
The 0 birder must have gotten fixed with todays android update..figures I am a day late and a dollar short as usual..at least. I beat average.
@rdnzlrips82 same az you I got bored..got my score for more then looked here for better( greedy me) at least I beat average:)?e
Hey wait!! I didjt update yet..might it still work @Amslimfordy? Seeing as how I didn’t install the update yet? * crossing fingers*
Ntw congrats @ tigersnana on high score:)
@kathy, I’ll reply to your question here. My score was obtained using 0 birds, it was about… 6 weeks ago or so. It takes a minute or two. The more you see stuff start to bow, the more likely it is that you are about to get a collapse. In the facebook version, this does NOT happen. In fact, you can’t even quake it, and expect it to even budge, which is why the scores over here are significantly higher (+10k).
not sure if they fixed it or not, but I hope not! lol
Ty @dollarbill2008 :) I hope not too..at least I feel like I have some hope now..good one to try at work ;) congrats on score I dont play any other platforms but android..so ill keep trying;) ty for reply :)
Has anyone seen the 0-birder since the ABO 2.2.0 update (Aug 2)?
Actually played it for a little today and didn’t have any luck with a 0-birder.
Not looking good, is it?
I play on an Android device and just got a 0-Bird, today.
I am going back to improve on S&T. I had been playing this level for ½ an hour when I noticed movement after my failed attempt at sending Yellow on the backside of the structure. I reset about 100 times and had 5 collapses. The last one actually cleared all the piggies for my current score. I forgot to mention, I was about to give up on improving my score on this one when I botched that shot.
Yay, I play on Android myself and am glad to hear the potential is still there.
Happy for now that I’m above average. Just wish I had been here before updating. No 0 birder no matter how many times I restarted. Android tablet. Has anyone seen a 0 birder since the update?
Yep!
Bye! Bye! zero birdie!
I’m curious, what is maximum possible without zeroB? I did around 104k.
Got the no-birder for 108+.
With one bird, 104+.
I’d also like to know max using birds!
Actually, it’s the higher hollow wood square on the left side that should be aimed for, if you hear a loud cracking sound when it hits, it’s all gone.
What is a 0 birder?
On some unstable levels, the structure collapses by itself and destroys all the pigs without using any birds.
I was thinking about the physics model used to include random variations in the initial level conditions, and clearly there must be some random seed, since sometimes the level self-collapses, other times not.
I was wondering if the seeding was reset each time the game was loaded, and this appears to be the case. For example, right now on a 1st Gen ipad, the level collapses on attempt 5 *every time* I reload the game (lucky it was a small enough number to test :)). Unfortunately the collapse is only partial.
Note that (pseudo) random number generators are generally platform/machine dependent, so I wonder if this applies to other devices, or even to other people on ipad 1 (latest version of AB on Dec 7 2012).
Sadly, this means that I’ll have to get the full collapse in one session, rather than trying a few repeats every day (currently have had no 0 birder).
This “randomness” is unlikely to be a result of a specifically-designed seed. It is more likely the result of rounding of decimals in these initial conditions. If you are familiar with the concept of “Sensitive Dependence on Initial Conditions” (colloquially called the Butterfly Effect), I believe this is a fair explanation.
@HBosch and Slim — Always fun to learn something new on ABN. Hadn’t heard of the “Butterfly effect”, but somewhat familiar with the concept.
Slim — I still don’t understand why you think the rounding would be different from restart to restart?
At any rate, if you read discussion in self-destroying levels forum:
https://www.angrybirdsnest.com/forum/discussion/comment/95913#Comment_95913
you will see that the amount of self-destruction is definitely not random: the score is a repeatable function of the number of restarts since a “hard close.” It does, however, depend on device.
I for one used to be a great believer in the existence of a random, or pseudo-random number generator in the AB code. I suppose if the game reset the seed for the pseudo-random generator to the same number each time the game was restarted after a “hard close,” it would explain the predictability and possibly the difference from platform to platform. But Rovio could easily used a different seed (like the date and time when game restarted).
@AMSlimfordy — Thought you would see this even if I didn’t “at” you. Would like to hear your explanation of what causes difference from restart to restart. Maybe wouldn’t be the first time, but I really didn’t follow the logic in previous explanations. Thanks.
The concept of sensitive dependence on initial conditions was first noted by (I believe) Henri Poincaré in the late 19th century. (The Wiki entry is likely under “Butterfly effect”, the colloquial term.)
The idea here is that enough computation is done (in the modern world) in a computer program that the inherent rounding, even say a hundred places out in the decimal, can yield drastically different results.
In terms of pure mathematics, suppose we have a very good decimal estimate for sqrt2 (square root of 2). It’s far easier and more accurate to compute (1/2)sqrt2 than 1/(sqrt2), since dividing by an approximation will yield errors far greater than dividing the approximation by an exact value. (Note: (1/2)sqrt2 = 1/(sqrt2).)
I would guess that similar divisions may be made within the app, since values such as sqrt2 for example “naturally occur” in the real world.
Again, I have no factual evidence of this, but to me it seems far more likely than a random seed generator. While I won’t deny that there are SOME circumstances where the theory is valid (Hoth 3-40 for example, I believe there is a seed to determine which track you play), in general I believe Rovio wouldn’t bother with such an implementation.
@AMSlimfordy — Thanks for taking the time to explain; however, that doesn’t quite answer my question. I did read the Wiki article, and have run across the concept previously, even if not the colloquial name. I’ve got to run, so will rephrase question later.
For clarity’s sake, just wanted to confirm that the no-birder is still very possible; got mine on the third collapse, after about 50 minutes.
This is the first 0 birder level where I get the same score every time. The last 20 0 birders that I have gotten have resulted in a score of 108650. Anyone else have this consistency? I use android and have gotten the same score on two different phones.
Can anyone tell me if the 0 birder is still possible?
@kathy I don’t know for sure but I have returned to this level many times over the past couple of days, totalling I’m sure a few hundred resets & it has never fallen for me. I occasionally see a little movement down by the centre glass square but no collapse.
It’s the same with level 4, I’ve spent a lot of time resetting that one repeatedly with no collapse of the tower so I wonder if that one still works too.
Thanks @Karen68 seems the last v comment i see about it was Dec..
It doesn’t seem to be.:( i always miss the good stuff lol
Well @mvnla2 i can confirm the self-collapse still works…on my third try after many resets it fell, but not completely
I’m going to keep trying..:)
@kathy, do you remember how long you waited before you knew it was going to collapse?
I just tried for an hour. Nada.
@bonneypatcat i tried this one for hours myself, i put on screen stay on app and let it alone..the
It would never fall i guess finally i just kept restarting every about I’ll say 5 minutes and then that one time it just collapsed after the 5 minute wait
Sorry i can’t give a difinitive answer but it does still work gl:)
That’s i suppose as long as there haven’t been updates..i do not automatic update
So last time i updated was bad piggies first episode..
having had several self-collapses on this level in the recent AB free HD version, I assumed it would still be present here as well (here meaning Angry Birds HD Version 3.1.0, playing on iPad 2), and indeed it is. Got 110k by it within 15 minutes (I was resetting as soon as i noticed the square hollow glass block was not moving; otherwise I would wait for things to stabilise (hopefully not, of course)).
(no such luck on S&T level #4 though; no self-collapse in an hour of resets there.)
