Wow it’s been quite a while since an amazon android version got released before iOS…
would it be too cynical to suggest iOS8 might have slowed things down? Not to worry, it’ll be out eventually :)
Spot on @hinarei – I think Apple with have to let things quieten down before they & Rovio will update SW2, there are still too many issues with iOS 8 in my opinion

Amazon Appstore… that was unexpected. Those levels were quite difficult, despite the new characters’ enormously OP’ous powers.

It continues after level 15 from the last update 1.6.0 so i guess the name is the same. 16-23 for both sides. we will see in 4 days, thats the day that the first level opens.

@sal9 I already have all the new master your destiny levels: they unlocked when I switched my iPad to airplane mode. But I’ve no idea whether my scores are any good or not because there are no leaderboards for them yet.

Has anyone else been getting an error when the “assets” are loading? What even are the assets? I can’t play the game anymore. It claims I don’t have enough space on my device, but I have several GB left on my device. Any answers?

erika maybe you have an SD card in your device that is full? i dont know. Maybe clear your RAM from your device and try again. Or try clearing cache from abswII (don’t clear data!)
SD card has lots of room. Tried clearing cache already. I can only guess it’s the amount of graphics with the update.
Erika What device are you using? Any specs Brand/model/memory, etc.. you can provide will help.
Yeah, that’s a good question. It’s a Samsung galaxy tab. When I look for details about the device it doesn’t say what version. The About Device says it is model SCH1800, which apparently is Froyo (2.2–2.2.3.)
The device storage says 330MB available space, but I have the game loaded on the SD card, which claims to have 11.43GB available, which I would think would be more than adequate.

Erika, I’ve seen quite a few comments from Android users who are having that problem, so it could be a bug. The only fix I could find was “make sure the SD card is not mounted via USB”. I don’t know if that applies to your device, but I figured I’d take a shot. If that doesn’t help, I’d recommend opening a support ticket with Rovio. You can do that here: http://www.rovio.com/en/about-us/contact
I’ll keep an eye out for any further info, and if I find it, I’ll reply here. Wish I could be more help. :/

Erika, by any chance do you have a weak or slow internet connection? While I got this to load, I bet it took well over 15 min after it finished downloading to open as it “loaded assets.” I watched it bounce back & forth from 10% to 11% back to 10%, etc. I put the phone down awhile picked it up & it bounced back & forth betwen 30% & 32%. This went on & on, but like I said, it eventually loaded & despite the fact the app has closed with inactivity throughout the day, I’ve not seen this issue again {{crossing fingers & toes since I gave up trying to play Epic because of similar messages}}
No, @justpast40, I don’t have slow internet. When I open the app it tries to load the assets (what are they? Never saw that before the update) and they load pretty fast, sometimes all the way to 102%(?), and then I get that annoying message that it failed to load and maybe I don’t have enough memory.
I did read that sometimes android has a hard time with AB graphics, so maybe it’s time for a new tablet…
Hi Erika, I have tab2 with no such problem. You probably have the previous version. While a new tablet is not a bad idea, you should probably be able to update android to at least 2.3.4. It is possible that Rovio does not test (nor anybody else nowadays) with anything older.
Lol! I’m sure they don’t, @micromax! When I checked for updates for my tab, though, it said there were none. My poor, little, OLD tab.

my assets downloading reached 116% once and failed
Same problem here. It’s not device specific, as I have the same problem on my new Android phone (4.4.4) and older Android tablet (4.1.2). It may be related to my Rovio account, but that’s for Rovio to diagnose and fix. :-)
When I tap on SWII to play there is a message “Asset downloading failed. Please try again later.” Then the app exits.
Well I now have my brand new android tablet and ABSW2 works fine, assets loaded fine, my progress was saved from the cloud.
BUT the only two AB games that seem to have saved to the Rovio cloud are AB Classic and ABSW2. Rio, Space, and SW1 do not appear to back up to the Rovio cloud. Anyone else experience this? Any suggestions?

I’m still having occasional problems with iOS 8 and I need to reboot a couple of times a day because some apps stop updating. 8.0.2 didn’t fix it either. Good luck with Stella, it’s a lot of levels / work!
iOS 8 is killing my bird frenzy! LOL. I got the SWII Update this morning. Yay. Wow! Rovio stepped it up again. Very challenging gameplay so far. Now to get used to the new characters powers.
@dmsral, yep, I have iPhone 5 and the iOS 8 update has made me very miserable. Even after the one patch that Apple pushed, my games and apps are still crashing bad and nothing stays ready to go for long if I open something else up. Even my Safari login to ABN logs me out every time I leave it open while I’m playing the game or using the phone. I’m so tempted to switch to an Android in March instead of upgrading to iPhone 6…but, the major drawback is all my Angry Bird games. I don’t want to totally start over again.
@gypsybird: You don’t have to start over! Do a full backup of your existing iPhone and then do a restore of that to your new iPhone.
@dmsral, I know how to do that from iPhone to a new iPhone, but that won’t work if I decide to un-drink the Apple Koolaid and switch to an Android next year. I’ll have to start all over in that case. Kind of disturbing and daunting to consider. Oh heck, I’ll probably stay with iPhone and just deal with the current glitches until they get it worked out for a good patch/update to the iOS.

There is one very annoying new “feature”. The game will reset the sound settings after most ads. Since there are a lot of ads and I like to play the game on mute, this gets old pretty fast. The old SW2 episodes have also been updated with this feature. Rovio is getting away from providing an enjoyable playing experience with features like this and the sluggish response of most of the recent episodes.
Don’t know the name of that female bird with the machine gun, but boy is she awesome!
Guess I made a lucky toss on the first level with her; took out all pigs and got 3* on first try. Subsequent levels very frustrating, to say the least.
I can’t believe how few people have entered scores on the leaderboard. Must be a new record low for the first day an episode is released. Can’t be because people aren’t playing.
If you are intimidated by the high averages on the ABN leaderboard, they’re so high because people don’t enter below average scores, let alone 1 and 2 star scores. The only way to keep the averages realistic is to enter all your scores, no matter how low. Just entered all my scores, the majority of which are 1 and 2-star.
I always expect to get 3* eventually, but for AB SW II, not necessarily above average, because of the use of character swaps, which can depend on how many real $ you are willing to pay.
@mvnla2, I think the Stella release beat that. Very few entered scores on Leaderboard at first. I haven’t even finished that one yet (lot more difficult to get 3 stars and more). I just got SWII new release this morning and haven’t had time today to do a whole lot yet. Plus iPhone keeps crashing or battery life is even more pitiful when not plugged in since iOS 7 and now it is worse with iOS 8. I’m working through the new levels but probably won’t even look at leaderboard until I get 3* on at least most of the 24 new levels – or when I can’t get past 2*. Right now I’ve finished all of them, barely 1, 2 and 3 stars but want to get 3 on my own. These are FUN levels! Now to get the hang of the new characters. I have and will enter scores below 3* and then go back and keep playing until I get that; then go back and work for over average. I’ll probably start entering scores tonight.
We have so much to work with right now too! Looking forward to the next Pig Days for Seasons and then the start of the New Master Your Own Destiny levels on SWII.
@gypsybird — Have to admit I haven’t entered any Stella scores, and I do have 3* on all. They are fun and some are pretty challenging. One problem is that you have to play and complete a level to see your high score! ABN should really be complaining about this.
@mvnla2, I finally entered the rest of my SW II Rebel levels today. All are 3* but I still have some that are below average – more work to do. :-)
I think I only have maybe 3 levels in Stella that I’m not at 3* yet. I’ve only entered a handful of Stella scores on the leaderboard so far. You are right, it is a real trial to go back to enter scores when you have to spend the extra time to play each level again to get to your score. Sheesh. I do hope Rovio fixes that.
I believe I did read on ABN that @birdleader has brought this concern among AB fans to the attention of Rovio. Thinking it might have been an oversight on their part rather than an intended difference in Stella.
Rovio already killed the top-end competitive spirit of this game with the obvious money grab of Last Chance Strategy. Now we get new levels with 12 new birds. Am I surprised? It is to laugh. I’ll complete the levels but no longer compete on this Angry Birds on the leaderboards. I’m moving on to Stella which only has like 5-6 total birds to use. Much more level playing field
ABSW2 simply had far too many birds/pigs. And they haven’t even made levels that release some that were in the basic set! Why on Earth do we need 12 MORE?? Money that’s why!
@EricBirds I hate to be the one to tell you this, but Stella has a “feature” which creates a less-level playing field than ABSW2. Stella also has last chance, but the real problem is that swaps work differently. Instead of a swap exchanging one bird for another, it adds the bird to the front of your lineup. Once you fling this new bird, the original one hops back in the sling, and you can swap it out again. If you have the coins, you can throw endless birds at a level until nothing’s left, and never touch any of your original bird lineup, which of course you get 10k bonus for each. The best part? It isn’t a bug. Rovio did this on purpose.
Don’t get me wrong, it’s a pretty fun game to play, but unless you’re planning to spend money on coins, or can ignore all the inflated swap scores, leaderboard competition on Stella may disappoint you.
Is there AB at this point with a level playing field then? I’m thinking perhaps Space. I know it’s not Seasons.
how do you play with your iPad if you don’t have cable?
@lovable-leaf907 – if you don’t have an internet connection (wireless or cable connection), you’d have to subscribe via your cell phone service for a monthly data plan for iPad – that can rack up the bucks more than having internet at home.
Next up, you could sit at a Starbucks (or other public wi-fi area) and sip coffee or tea while to connect to their internet via the wireless connection. That is free (except for buying drinks and such).
My daughter uses the iPad via wireless all the time – no data plan.

More ioS 8 issues, I’m getting repeat app upgrade notifications. This morning, the SWII upgrade popped up again, dated 10/2, not a maintenance release. I’ve got to remember to not hit the Upgrade All button going forward.

Same thing happened to me this morning @dmsral. Glad I’m not alone. LOL. I looked at it thinking maybe they were patching the last one for SW II but I went ahead and hit ‘update’ – then I held my breath just hoping that the new update didn’t wipe out all the scores that I just finished for the Rebels (Bird and Pork side)…whew! getting the update again didn’t seem to hurt anything.
For @mvnla2 – I didn’t get the repeat of a Stella update – as of tonight anyway.
Can anybody explain me how Chopper works? I can’t steer him. The same for Imperial Officer.
Did you ever find out how to use Chopper? I wasted 2 of my 3 and didn’t get much useful for the effort. Not clear to me that the Chewbacca reward level is a good one to use, since it seems that the flames only go down.
As for the Imperial Officer, the Chewbacca rewards chapter works great. You can tap at least 3 times in locations where you want him to aim. So target the 3 gaps in that level, and you will get really high scores.

@mvnla2: No I did not find out. But in the Chewbacca level you can use him very well. The only goal is to break the block so that everything collapses. So just shoot Chopper to the right place and don’t tap the screen. Then you need 5 Choppers in order to get 500’000 points.

@mvnla2 You must break the horizontal block. Where you usually sent Chewbacca. Just send “Chopper” (C1-10P) instead of Chewbacca to the same place.
But don’t activate his special power.

I had updated the rebels version on 3rd of october and completed some levels, but my App store is showing the same update for angry birds star wars II today, should I update it again, if I update it again will I lose my previously completed levels ??

I’m seeing the same thing, plus the update for Stella. It must be an app store glitch. I don’t think you’d lose any data, but I wouldn’t install the update, just to be on the safe side.
