I can lower it a little. 31710 is 3 stars. This 3 star level may be very tough to get. @e-star

@mg516 even a drop of 1k helps, so thanks for the heads up. I lowered the estimate :)

First Bird:
Launch midway through lower steam jet. Aim for top of whiter part. Bird will take out planetary structure and pig. 7,000+ points is a great score.
Second Bird:
Aim a “pixel” or two up from the base of the top steam jet. The bird will wend its way around the left planet and take out the “hanging” pig. Adjust the launch point up or down a “pixel” as necessary.

As @philsey said, playing with the pixels is oh-so-important, I’m not sure the order of shots makes a difference, but I reversed the shots when scoring 36650. With his 1st shot, my 2nd, I had as high as 9800, so over 10k possible. I’m sure how these jets set off their steam puffs makes a difference, but I guess I don’t have the attention to detail or patience to figure it out.

Also reversed order for top score. First bird also dislodged three-legged spider which inched his way to gravity field and then cleaned up debris on the surface for extra points. Second bird through jet streams below, passing just over red bird sitting on surface and squarely into upper structure causing more damage than usual.

@sja101abn Great score! Congrats! that’s the secret to higher score dislodging that 3 legged thingie and waiting for it to clear the atmosphere of the planet, then hopefully it crawls around and racks up a few points! thanks for the post, it totally just reminded me that those joint thingies can gather some serious point damage!
its been years since I played Space seriously, is all coming back to me now!!

Has anyone noticed that after the first shot red bird never goes away?
i waited for a while because i knocked down that 3 pronged joint thingie that gives extra points in the regular level but red doesnt die?

This is something that is fairly common in Brass Hogs. I presume that the reason is that the surface of the metal planets are not governed by the same physics as the other planets, just as Cosmic Crystals planets are also very different from others. As long as a bird can interact with something, the bird does not really “die” (or just disappear? They are invincible after all). So there may be some surface effects that prevent them from doing so in this episode.

Thanks @sglouk ,I guess i really never thought about that back then, and no idea Why my comment landed here rather than the walkthrough page? but Yes your right, the planet surface is different in Brass Hogs, than say in regular space like Pig Bang, or the simpler levels.
And i guess I didn’t necessarily mean ‘die* rather than Fade away amongst the well, wherever all good birdies go to rest 😉

Now I’m confused lol! It IS in the walkthrough page, but a nano-second earlier it wasn’t¿ Must be the lack of Oxygen up here 😂

One birder possible. Direct the first shot to the upper jet, try to pass about half of the birds diameter above the vent, the bird will go around the planet, kill the lower pig and will get back into the orbit trashing through skinny support of the pig structure.

In my case the pig got bruised up, but did not pop.

Then I messed up the remaining shots and nothing happened.

Am sure that 40K is more than feasible.

Will keep on practising.

My current bests :
8960 for the shot from above that gets rid of Hector.
9490 for shot from below.
Not yet enough to claim a puppy, but getting closer.

I ended getting a puppy using the two methods for first shot (either by sending everything around Hector on planet, or just popping the bubble and crashing on thin pipes of planet, see @comex666‘s vid). Second method is more likely the one for which the level was designed (why would one have put this ear-like white thing on bubble otherwise?), and gives higher results, however aiming must be done with exquisite care. Fortunaltely, for a given aim, there is not much variability in the outcome.

Finally got a puppy score with more than 2 hours to go on the challenge, but unable to claim! Got the score in the middle of a 6 hour power outage (again!), so no internet. Power restored an hour after challenge ended. Sigh. Used the same “upper then lower” shots. Screen shot showing result and “time remaining” on challenge FWIW:

@peejaydee27 That is indeed unfortunate, I saw your notice in my notifications and was gonna say if you mention @Sweetp she may take pity on the situation, But unfortunately Your screenshot doesn’t provide the necessary proof requirements, unless you’ve posted the wrong link? all i see is a screenshot of the Challenge scoreboard, and your score in the top left, which isn’t high enough for a puppy??

Hi @kathy. Thanks very much for your kind reply! We’re having power cuts quite often at the moment where I live. We lost power at 5am yesterday and it didn’t come back on till 11am, an hour too late to enter. That’s why on the challenge screen shot my old score is still displayed with 2 hrs 28 mins still to go! This is the full screen shot of the 3 star screen:

Another puppy would be great of course, but rules are rules, and I will fully understand if @sweetp can’t allow the score. Anyway, back to flinging for today, but not looking promising!! 😐

Sorry, @peejaydee27 but unfortunately I cannot award a puppy for this. Even though your power outage was unavoidable, we must abide by the Challenge rules of entering scores in the leaderboard within the alloted time period. Otherwise, anyone else could claim the same or similar incident happened to them. And it would be very difficult for me to verify the time stamps of screenshots, and possibly create more confusion and conflict for all parties involved.

My apologies again, but I hope you understand my point of view.

Absolutely @sweetp, I fully understand and agree with you. As mentioned in me earlier post, I realise that rules must be followed, so no apologies needed. You are always very fair, and setting a precedent could open the flood gates!
