161660 with 2 birds. First bird under the planetoid towards the outer part of the gravity field. Late split, goal is to break the glass cell and and continue on through to break little glass piece and continue on through to bust up the back glass cell. 2nd bird through the top side of the planetoid gravity field and shoot into the structure with the goal of hitting a spot that gets it to collapse in on itself. Give it time, it might keep going. Nearly everything gone.
Current high score, but it’s very early. Got 190k with a 1 birder.
First bird over the planet and swing down towards the glass. I split late so that all 3 bluets went between the glass and the wood box on the far lower right. The blues went all the way up and took out a lot of the glass and the rest just collapsed and started to self destruct.
This level reminds me a lot of Danger Zone Level 4 which (before the bug/glitch was fixed) would self destruct with out even flinging a bird. May have to test this level.
Whoops! Followed your strategy @sparty83 & just topped your score – apologies!! Just a tip for other ABN’ers – IF the remaining pieces of glass are still moving after the first bird do not restart as long as the score still rises, this happened to me & then everything just collapsed & gave me 191K
I think I did it like @sparty83? i take it you meant lower LEFT glass not right? I aimed blues about 1/2 way between top of planet and gravity field and split late so blues should go up breaking the glass right to the top. This is where the waiting began. I eventually got bored and left the structure moving slightly at 56k with points slowly rising by 10 to 20 every few seconds. Like @earthbound said,if it’s moving or twitching,leave it! I nipped away to have a shower and checked it about 20 mins later and score was sitting finished at 189,410. Now obviously I don’t know when during that time it finished but 20 mins from 56k to finish isn’t to bad. I agree @sparty83 This does remind me of the Danger Zone level but unfortunately I wasn’t blessed with patience so let me know how this works out lol!!
Wooo @jlz-666 (and @sparty83 and @earthbound ), you have written everything that I was about to! My only variant was to make a cup of tea rather than have a shower, but it seems showering scores a few hundred more points than a beverage. I shall try coffee next time to see what difference that makes…
Well actually @bikkit so does blow drying your hair because I just got another 189k! This time I was watching it happen. The score yet again was in the mid 50’s when it slowed down. What I have noticed is that both times the whole structure is rotating to the left. I may be wrong as I had hair blowing everywhere but I think it did a full rotation whilst crumbling inside. It only took around 5 mins, so for my level of patience that’s great! I’m going to keep at it and try to break the 190k
Right, my scientific experimentation is progressing apace, and indisputably the best way to make the collapse happen in to pop round to the shop to buy a newspaper.
@bikkit
I flew to the loo
I had to go poo
and when I got back
my high score was NEW!
Instead of “and when I got back” how about “and when I was through” ? @knichy @bikkit
That works, just wish it would make my score higher @stocktoad.
No worries @earthbound (Bird Maniac) but I just got a higher score. To be honest I am not completely sure what happened. I used my strat again, the structure started to slowly spin and points slowly started adding up. I put my phone down to get another cup of coffee and when I came back, this is what I saw.

@sparty83, @earthbound Bird Maniac, @sglouk, you are spots #3, #2 & #1. Can someone pls post a pic showing where you’re splitting BB? I very very far below average …. TIA
@justpast40
Here is the path and activation point for my strat listed above. (trying both the embed link which I can never seem to get to work and the direct link)
https://www.angrybirdsnest.com/members/sparty83/album/picture/12619/
Thanks @sparty83, I was activating entirely too late & while I’m not sure how to best allocate my timing so I allow enough time (i. e. iPad out of use I’m … shuddering …) for a potential 1-birder, I did just manage 169990 with 2 birds so I’m a whole lot closer than before.
@Sparty83 The only links which work on walkthroughs are Direct Link and Text Link. (Images aren’t allowed on walkthroughs) So, it’s the site making it not work, not you. :)
@sparty83 @kelani
Embed should work, but make sure you include the coding anchored by “img src”. For example,
<a href=”https://www.angrybirdsnest.com/members/sparty83/album/picture/12619/” class=”album-picture-thumb-embed” rel=”nofollow”><img src=”https://www.angrybirdsnest.com/wp-content/uploads/album/4705/2015-01-24-10-24-53-640×359.jpg” alt=”2015-01-24-10-24-53.jpg” /></a>
@amslimfordy Thanks for the info!
I have noticed that once damaged, the structure begins to rotate (counterclockwise when I send BB above first planet), first slowly, then faster and faster. In some occasion, it then stops, but sometimes starts again (or maybe it always starts again if you are more patient than I were). It had a very large angular velocity in the end, when it completely broke apart for my current best (188k). Maybe the increase of angular velocity was a mere consequence of the conservation of angular momentum law and due to the fact that the structure was becoming more compact as more and more parts were destroyed, but I got the impression that rotation grew way too fast to be compatible with known physics! It seems that the “wires” store some sort of energy during the evolution of the structure till some point, and release this energy quite violenty, which can on some occasion destroy efficiently the structure.
In any case, I am unsure that the instability that makes a one-birder easy was designed on purpose, and I would bet that in the next updates, the structure becomes more stable. Therefore, I recommend to make a save of this version before the one birder becomes much harder to perform.
@sglouk, I noticed that also. It reminded me of Danger Zone level 4 which, when it first came out, would start to slowly self destruct. I was wondering if this level would do that also, but I don’t think it does. See my post just below this.
@sglouk I still can’t make the 190’s but what I have noticed for 1 birdie 180’s is that if the blues only burst through half way up and leave the right hand side (wood,glass,wood) intact seems to trigger the anti clockwise spin. Now I’m not going to pretend to know the physics of this but more often than not,it gets things moving. I’ve stopped trying to get the blues all the way up as it appears too much damage at the start doesn’t help. Do you agree?
@jlz-666
I think that the maximum of damage is obtained when you have as much energy as possible that is stored in these wire like thin metallic parts, as well as in the invisible links between the different “nodes” of the structure (the same holds for DZ-4, actually). If you destroy too many of them at start, it may not be the most efficient, indeed.
No @jlz-666. I do not agree. I find it much better to go all the way to the top. I’ve counted the blocks after completely separating the right side and still had all but four blocks in play. This has led to three 200k+ scores in the last two days. Sorry for sticking my two cents in your discussion @sparty83.
I left this level run overnight wondering if it would self destruct like Danger Zone Level 4 did when it first came out. No luck. After letting it run for about 8 hours, score was still 0 and the structure had not rotated at all. Oh well.
@sparty83 I was coming here to ask if you had had any luck with your experiment. I have given it a few tries as well, and no self destruct on my end.
@sunshine,
No luck on my android phone. I yried a few times, even letting it run over night, no self destruction and not a single point counted up.
@sparty83 sorry for the slow reply, but I sent my first bird 3 hours ago at 10:30, and still counting. At the moment 1:32 p.m. EST, my count is 124,900. I had two blues in the mix with the wood until an hour ago. Things are still moving, and counter counting. One pig on the structure.
192k after 35 minutes. Things seems to almast stall at around 37k, then it started again to shake and destroyed quite abruptly.
@sglouk — I assume you shot a bird before waiting?
@sparty83 @jlz-666 @earthbound @bikkit — Will add this to the list of unstable levels. So far, it seems to take anywhere from 5 to 35 mins, correct?
Mine seemed to be stalled, but I just caught something close to an explosion out of the corner of my eye. Finished off quickly after that for 190K
BTW — My structure was definitely rotating clockwise.
Should also mention that the first time I tried it, it did not finish the destruction after about 20 min. Did not wait longer.
@mvnla2
Yes, you need to shoot one bird. But happens next is probably an instability. If a 185k+ one birder was expected to be so easy, we would not be given 4 birds from start, with such a low (~120k) 3 stars threshold.
Just got 199k now. Someone will probably break the 200k barrier soon.
Btw, someone reported a self igniting tank on 9-7, and I can also confirm this. This could also be added to the list of instable levels, although it does not bring anything interesting to level completion, I think.
@mvnla2 @sglouk I’ve been sitting at 58920 for about a half an hour with no movement or score increase, but 1 blue bird stuck directly in the center of the now tilted structure.. I’ve never seen a bird last this long.. I’m trying to keep my patience to wait and see what happens. . perhaps i should take a shower or have a cuppa tea as suggested by @Jlz666 and @bikkit lol..
as soon as i posted that the score started increasing! The power of the post at work. Jeez i Wonder how people who are not members of ABN manage to ever get a decent score!
I was told ABN members are The highest scoring players of all episodes of AB :)
arghhh this is painstakingly slow.. now 6:10 I have increased top 69830 after Hours and Hours. i took a nap now eating dinner ..still slowly going
Dz all over again!
Wwooohoo The Power of the Post strikes again!!
so after I’d say 4 long hours or maybe 6.. it finally exploded!! ty @s@sparty83 for the screenshot trajectory:)
and Then … My game crashed:(
meant @sparty83 my keyboard has a stutter lol!
@annach
WTG that is some score – any particular strategy ?
No new strategy. I sent the blues as described by @sparty83, that is, over the planet and split them as shown in his picture. Then I left my iPad and went to have breakfast and wash dishes. When I came back about 40 min later I found this terrific score over 200K! So, basically the strategy is: throw the bird, split it and give it about 30-40 min wait, eventually it will work out.
No new strategy here either, but four and a half hour of waiting … 216k and topscore for now, but not really funny.
@Sigrid @Ollygod I thought a score of 197k wasn’t too bad when I first played this level. But if I’m going to stay competitive in Brass Hogs, I’ll need to play this again. ha ha
Any tips?
Sorry no silver bullet from me, at bedtime instead of setting the alarm, set BH 9-8. In the morning you may have the top score ( or more likely not the top score ) Good luck :-)
How about that @Ollygod. I woke up to a score of 204k. I see no logic in this level. Pure luck. Maybe I could use another nap?
@rat9 As with so much in AB there is no apparent logic, still plus another 7K for a stress free gain has to be good, and you won’t have to keep looking over your shoulder for a little while, now where can I find another 17K?
Au contraire @Ollygod. I’ve been waiting for you to catch up. I live for competition.
Oops! I just got an even higher score @Ollygod. Good tip about the alarm clock. Thanks! You might want to find an additional 20k now. ha ha
@rat9 Now that was a good tip, I will also be setting my alarm tonight, as much in hope as expectation. Otherwise it will have to be a grind to the + 20K mark.
Or a miracle shot somewhere ?
Make that an additional 25k @Ollygod. I had another nap and scored 212k. You look like you could use a nap yourself. lol
Goodness me @rat9 looks like I may need a very long sleep never mind a nap. Hey ho I will just keep on grinding away.
Wish I could help you the way you have helped me and other flingers so many times. But all I can say is I tried to minimize the amount of destruction on the first bird, just doing enough to set the wheel in motion (a score around 25K). Patience and luck did the rest.
If you over top of the first planet and split the bird as it leaves the ring, it will hit the bottom glass blocks and start the diamond spinning. If it starts spinning be patient as it will slowly increase in speed and self destruct totally. My best score using this strategy was 185,920
Has anybody else discovered that this is a great level to re-fling while waiting the 30 minutes for a lousy 1 point mission to reload in the hope of getting a juicy 10 pointer?!?
I just now started entering my scores for Brass Hogs and checking the walk-throughs. I got 3* up to Level 14 on my own but now looking for some higher point strategies. (So far I’m going with the daily ‘missions’ instead of paying more to open all the levels at once – this way is fun and keeps the daily freshness of daily new level anticipation…). Anyway, I went through this one rather quickly and didn’t realize it has a self-destructing mode after throwing blues. I’m letting it run right now. It is slowing progressing.
On another Note: @admins – Has anyone had problems with the ‘Mission Board’? On my iPhone, when I click on the Mission Icon in the bottom right of the screen, the board pops up but frequently, it is stalled – meaning when I click on one of the arrows to go to the Mission Level, nothing happens, it is frozen. Even the X at the top right won’t work so I have to close out the game totally and go back in – still same thing happens. I will wait for a while – sometimes a couple of hours and go back in and it will work. Important thing is that if you want the credit for completing a Mission level, you have to play it after you click the arrow and go to that level. You won’t get credit for it if you just close out the board, open up AB Space and go directly to that level that was shown in the Missions for the day…I did that and when I went back to check on Brass Hogs, it had reset and given me a different level immediately and no credit for the one I just completed one with getting more points on a previous Space level. Very frustrating. Not sure if I should report to Rovio or not. Possible that Rovio does know of this bug and will be fixing it on the next update.
Awww. No Luck yet for me. I ended up with less than my original 172k. Re-visting the levels again and again usually pays off eventually. I am enjoying Brass Hogs though. Those mirror levels (in Brass Hogs AND having them in all the AB Space Levels) are really challenging too!
Very interesting level indeed.I should add that this level do not belong to the category of “unstable” or even “self-destructing” ones,it’s all the idiotic piggies’ fault,building a space platform right in the middle of a gravitational field(read:black hole)without even a rocky surface to settle anything down.Ever fathomed how they began the construction?
One piece came(plummeted into the field,float around the center due inertia,settled),another pig/piece came,two objects bang bang,both gone.
Well,that couldn’t be it.And should there ever been a gap between the building blocks,go figure…
Rat stRAT “Destruction you can depend on”
I’ve been as guilty as everyone else saying this is a total luck level. I still say you need a lot of luck, but after four 200k+ scores in the last three days, I’ve changed my mind. There is a strategy that is high scoring and repeatable To get 9-8 Setup just follow my directions on the link with the example picture.
Good luck flingers…the Rat scampers away
I believe there is something to @stocktoad‘s observation. I initially only destroyed three blocks on my 212k score. But I kept thinking I needed to separate the top glass octagon from the wooden octagon on the right. Maybe he’ll let us know how he approached it.
I started with Sigrid’s (@dirgis) advice about doing very little damage with the first bird, but I went beyond the 25K advice and went with less than 10K. That got me over 200K. Then I added the wrinkle of not destroying any glass blocks. I don’t know if that helped, but that’s how I got 220K
It sounds like the training @burpie, @Kelani, @Hunnybunny, and I had in the “Lowest Score Challenge” could come in handy here. Where/what did you hit to get a 220k score?
Didn’t hit anything special….like I said, I avoided doing much damage, and avoided hitting glass blocks. I did go over the top, not underneath for the initial shot. My opinion is that all those blocks grinding together makes the points. So….. anything you can do to avoid early points is a plus. As long as the final result is getting down to no blocks.
Top score picture:
https://www.angrybirdsnest.com/members/sglouk/album/picture/13807/
A few figures: I let the level run for 9h30min. Score was 161k after eight hours, slowly climbing. Initial shot cut the structure into two parts (6 + 3 cells), through the three aligned glass links. Score reached 173k one hour and a half later and seemed to stall for 15 minutes. There was then one surviving pig more or less protected by its “cell”, on top/at the surface of a fairly large chunk of debris (well, an very large chunk of debris given the score I had already obtained). I then used a 2nd bird to finish and everything crumbled in a few seconds.
Yes, this 229k was a two birder, which means that 240k could be achievable in principle. The two things you need are:
* a very slow crumble that does not stall
* one pig that survives till the end
I woud say that the second condition is the hardest to achieve, and I may have been lucky that the pig survived till that point.
All you need is just a little patience. Ooooh patience.
I put it on the charger after a little lunchtime flinging, started it the usual way – over the planet, late split, initial damage was about 62K with slooooowww rotation. 10 or 20 points adding every 10 or 20 seconds. Off to work!
About two hours later I decided to check and it had completed itself at 190K. from a 122K that was like completing a whole other level score-wise!
this time I left it within my peripheral vision and saw movement. I guess the structure was still connected at one end – the whole thing turned itself inside out and continued crushing itself. only 173K though. it is pretty cool to watch.
169090/2 Total destruction with two birds and still way under the average (currently 176K) so where do the other 60K points come from??? Yikes!
So now that I’ve read through (most) of the threads above I’m letting the level sit for a (long) while after the first bird. I did see a neat explosion at one point so there’s that…
190390/1 I have to say that was rather satisfying to watch after all the tries it took to get a 1-bird completion.
is there a walk-through for the feather in this level. can’t find it.
Space Eagle walkthrough, with 1 sardine can — Brass Hogs level 9-8
https://youtu.be/_0C3vYxY_do
Destroy most glass with the blue birds (by sending them south of the middle brass planet, with a late split), then toss a sardine can towards the resulting structure, activating upon impact, with the Blues still there. Almost everything will be destroyed by the blast or by the blue birds you fired in the beginning.
This strategy proved to be consistent.
Feel free to discuss this level’s feather strategies here!
