Angry Birds Seasons Winter Wonderham level 1-23 was first available on Sunday, December 23rd, 2012. The strategy is pretty straightforward: Loft the Yellow bird over the towers, blasting through the ice plank on the right side holding the TNT. The blast will clear the right structure, causing the main tower there to fall onto the TNT in the center of the level. One more blast and a little luck should clear all remaining pigs. The score in the video below is 119,400.
Bonus! Our Winter Wonderham level 1-23 Mighty Eagle walkthrough is live as well!
115580 3*
Arc Chuck to get the horizontal ice plank on far right tower. This drops the TNT, and right tower falls left to get present and detonate the other TNT.
Use Blue to clean up if needed.
Thank you @brave1966 for the post on hitting the far right horizontal glass plank. Worked great!!!
There are various places to hit on the plank that appear to produce different intensities of the tnt explosions. Yellow Bird can come close to the roof line or nip it, hit the split between the glass planks, hit the end of the plank and hit to the left of the split. For this score of 125k YB hit around the seam.
It appears that actiation of the YB at the very last moment seems to produce better results.
A lot of the left tower has to fall to get a higher score. I was stuck at the 120k range until it started to fall, then went to 121k, and then the present score.
When it is all said and done this is one of the levels I have previous referred to as a “Fling and a Pray”.
You’re welcome @wrw01 and all who like this one so much! :D
Quite true on aiming and when to trigger the speed boost. Fling and pray, indeed! I’ve managed to go from 115k up to 122500 so far.
While I agree that there is significant variation in the speed with which the right tower falls after striking the target plank, I’m at a loss to see any correlation in higher scores. I’ve hit the “target” on the very rightmost edge, the leftmost point (ticking the triangle), and many points in between. The speed of impact (timing of activation) seems unrelated to left tower damage as well for me. The right tower falls slower or faster for sure depending on these two factors (striking point & velocity), but for me, not much variation in scores. “If it weren’t for BAD luck, I’d have no luck at all.”
ONE BIRD Solution:
Yellow Bird long, high shot to hit ceiling above TNT at far right, destroys right structure.
3 Stars – 126,280
BTW: Same solution as @brave1966, which wasn’t posted when I wrote.
With luck, right structure will fall on TNT next to left structure and bring everything down.
If pigs survive first shot, Blue Bird spread to front of left structure.
Best I can get is 3 Star – 117,460
I can see that 1 birder is possible – but seems to be luck rather than how yellow is aimed?
@janetyjanet: Not luck to hit ice ceiling and blow TNT, but mainly luck in how it explodes TNT on the left. See above note about getting 3 Stars on second Blue Bird shot.
Finally got my 1 birder – but only gave 119160, so will keep at it!
Using this strat, two 1-birds scores above 123K so far: 123,060 and 123,160.
SWW 23, 123430 w/1.. You got it, the highest scores will be dictated by the most collateral damage. Thanks ROVIO for an easy Sunday! thx
This is it
122700
Same solution as already posted but the majority of my scores end up between 115k & 118k after clearing top left pig. More luck than anything else after the explosion, but I noticed that if I took out the far right pig with YB as a direct hit I scored over 120k more often. A bit of nudging and a healthy dose of luck got me 122360.
123,960-almost managed to demolish the whole of the left hand tower.
So my first impression was right, when I opened the level I only saw Chuck, the blues were so small and a bit below that I didn’t see them first.
And Chuck is the only one needed.
Of course my score 117k is again thousands below average, but the day is long ;-)
Same here, today is a easy one.
I got 120,010 with that strategy! But I didn’t see this before I got the score…
Use yellow to go up high and take out the right end of the horizontal ice bar above the far right piggie – this drops the TNT & takes out the right side which tips over and sets off the left TNT, then mop up with blue birds. 116090 for 3 *
Same strategy, score 120120. Thanks!
Ooh @ brave 1966 -thought I was going to be first with a measly 114570! Yb to break vertical plan in first structure, Bb to ice over last TNT!
Hi, dear sweet @mumsie42! Got to be fast on typing and the “Post Comment” button. ;) Seems like my strat has been the common one so far. ;)
Hi all,
Just got a 1 birder i hit the ice bar on the end on the right side up went the TNT both right and left sides collapsed score 88190 three blue left total score
118190
gt343
I agree. I got 120k with that strategy.
only 121 k with 1 birder method as above but, already average score is 121k??????
Like Lamia, I feel like I must be missing something. I have no idea how all of you seem to be having such an easy time getting the fallout necessary for good one-bird scores. One-birders for me are few and far between, and the ones I have gotten haven’t even reached 120k. By far the most common result after the first bird is to have the left part of the first structure standing, with the pig at the top still surviving, and a score of 77k. Nothing in the world seems to want to make that part of the structure fall over. For those of you who have had a good collapse, how has it happened?
@austinRHL – read and agreed with your every syllable but then lo! I finally got a 1 birder than got me higher than avg (by a smidgen!) can only hope the whine factor works for you!
@AustinRHL: I know the feeling. I’m still waiting for that perfect blow-up of the left tower.
@AustinRHL, all I can say is keep at it. I don’t see any magic formula other than taking out the far right pig directly, that seems to help but I can’t really say how.
The one time I got a perfect collapse of the left tower, the pig inside the ice cube survived his fall. Argh!
I got twice in the row a perfect collapse. But both times score was below 90k
Thanks to @brave1966 again for the strategy. Managed 123,120 with one bird…..Had to wait a while for the left tower to fall….
Yay @antipope! Glad it worked so well for you. :)
I just wonder why these levels are so easy, we had 4 easy levels in a row but I don’t mind. I love when I can clear level easily.
One bird to activate right TNT, so far 121890, I will try get some better after reading posts and seeing some videos.
Got my current score with a 1-birdie after relatively few tries (60 deg trajectory with late acceleration to break TNT box holding ice plank on the right and also hit piggie w/ Santa’s hat). Repeatedly 125k.
126020, after numerous tries I achieved this score without activating yellow bird, worth a try peeps
@multimillionalre: That is what I had to do to get 122k – YB seems to do a better job when you just fling him on high arc over both buildings without tapping for speed – it is a bit more precise like that.
Geez, @multimillionalre, think you could come up with a shot that requires a little less effort? Talk about lazy… You don’t even have to tap the screen…. I mean… What are you gonna suggest next, a no-birder? Uh… Ummm. Your score is more than 3000 higher than my “moon shot” approach. Never mind. Mele Kalikimaka, everyone. Aloha.
Oh mighty bovine waverider, after spending hours willing those blocks to tumble by themselves, I heaved my oh so heavy finger to the corner of my iPhone, somehow managing to summon the Herculean effort required to draw back the catapult and release yellow bird skywards… A hush fell around my household as he entered the optimum angle to activate his amphetamine like rush of turbo, but alas I had over exerted myself with the aforementioned catapult pull, so he fell like a limp fish barely bumbling through the glass TNT bridge. People around me gasped, heads hung low and well wishers looked away, those closest to me ready to support me in my hour of grief…but lo and behold, towers tumbled, pigs exploded and I emerged triumphant with a score high enough to allow me to cast this level aside and spend the day on previous levels adding points(waste of time didn’t beat any) merry Xmas all!!!!
@surfcow try using a kaleidoscope
Two words: moon shot. Aim as vertical as possible, release Yellow, then tap very soon after. Chuck disappears. Chuck reappears. Chuck drops in on the pigs’ humble abode, causing TNT to fall to floor. Note to pigs: you are supposed to hang mistletoe — not TNT — from the ceiling. Duh=. Aloha.
This level is as easy as 1-2-3.
[insert groans here]
Sorry, couldn’t resist. Aloha.
Thank you @surfcow, your moon shot worked like a charm. Yellow to the right TNT, blew evreything, structure fell to the left TNT, pebbles took the present and left structure met doom. :)
Those Moon Shots are so fun, @surfcow; but I still need to work on the required mastery. YB did a nice belly flop on my first try but he did take out the very bottom package! hahahaha. I had to withdraw from the Moon shot and just do the high arc over both buildings and into the ice bar over the TNT on right side. Mele Kalikimaka me ka Hau’oli Makahiki Hou!
Mele Kalikimaka, @gypsybird – I must say that your avatar is out of this world. The purple Lazer Bird has to be the most awesome looking of all, other than Terebacca, of course. You don’t wanna get that wookie mad at you. Aloha. P.S. I got my highest score by not using “moon shot” – but you’re right, it is quite fun to watch Chuck kiss the mistletoe/TNT from on high.
@surfcow – I picked LB from AB Space partly because purple is my favorite color and partly because he just zooms through space so wonderfully. I’ll be sure to keep a lot of treats handy for our new favorite wookie in AB Star Wars for sure. Need to keep that big guy on my side.
BTW For you and for @mvnla2: I really enjoyed the science refresher on the telescope and reflected light.
@surfcow — Hope you’re having a good laugh at all of us trying moon-shots. They aren’t any more effective than the regular ones, and harder to control, IMO.
Oh, you wanted something more effective @mvnla2? I thought you asked Santa for something more reflective this year. What else would be more fun than watching us “shoot the moon” with that new telescope of yours? I thought so. Did you know that reflecting telescopes have a number of advantages over refractors? They are not subject to chromatic aberration because reflected light does not disperse according to wavelength. Also, the telescope tube of a reflector is shorter than that of a refractor of the same diameter, which reduces the cost of the tube. Consequently, the dome for housing a reflector is smaller and more economical to construct. Wow, I did not know that. Thanks for inspiring yet another High IQ Moment with Surfcow. Aloha.
@surfcow — You didn’t know that about telescopes? Were you sleeping in first grade? ; )
Hard to imagine, @mvnla2, but at that age I was most likely eating paste while hiding under my desk. Apparently, I missed the lectures on optics and quantum theory. Or maybe my teacher realized that if she tried to explain the principle of a concave reflecting mirror to a classroom full of snot-nosed, paste-eating 6-year-olds, our little heads might explode. Either way, it seems I have a lot of catching up to do if I want to be an effective reflector of deception. Thanks for helping me stay focused. Aloha.
Thank you @surfcow for the tip on the moonshot. That shot was not in my imagination. Thanks for sharing the technigue. Noticed that less debris goes right.
Woo hoo, #2@ 127,280….same as all others, nothing special about YB. The KEY was as the wooden (right) side of left tower fell & the thin narrow wooden roof slat above small pig was rolling on pig causing it to roll to right, the remaining ice/glass part of left tower that normally stays standing, also crumbled to left.
Well everything on left fell again & my score is almost 5k less, so I wish I had an answer …
what I think you ran into was where you hit the ice. I think that if you hit on the seam, Chuck will sit on the wood pillar, which helps to take out the small wooden rectangles when it explodes and flies to the right.
Thanks @frozndevl — I got my current high 123760 trying to follow your tips. Not very successfully, but still 3K higher than previous, and above average. I have a question: I’ve seen Chuck sit on the pillar once or twice, but I can’t figure out what you mean by “helps take out the small wooden rectangles when it explodes and flies to right”? Well, as I write this it may be making more sense. Clarification would be useful, unless I’m the only one who can’t understand clear English.
@mvnla2 – What I was trying to say is when the right TNT blows up it sends the wood off to the right. If Chuck lands on the wooden pillar before blows up he has a better chance of destroying those pieces as they land or even in midair. I can’t tell for sure since it happens offscreen to the right but it seems that if Chuck just grazes the ice platform those pieces don’t end up breaking up leaving points on the table.
@frozndevl –Thanks! That’s what I was beginning to think. Someone said earlier that they had better luck with a direct hit on the right Santa-pig. I’m wondering if sometimes he doesn’t pop?
Any clues about left tower?
@mvlna2 – no clue on the left tower as it seems to just be luck based. there may be something to the thought that Santa pig sometimes doesn’t pop.
Does anyone have any clues about what makes the left tower fall, especially with enough destruction to get a high score? I’m still mystified.
@mvnla2 – gravity? ;-P
More 2 level (or days), level too easy, all same start., hope got a challege level coming.
Persistence pays off -127130. Thanks everyone for all the tips. This level seems to be another one where you keep on flinging till you get your lucky shot!
I second this.
Though my lucky shot was exactly 50 points below current high score…
I had the same thing as @rob48 above. Hit the right ice, everything fell right, the left tower all went down and everything froze for a while then the screen scrolled back to the slingshot??? I had to zoom out to see that the little piggie was down in the gully way off to the left offscreen from my 1st shot. He is encased in super-ice!
He was laughing at me, I know he was. But he wasn’t laughing for long. Terminated with extreme predjudice.
FWIW, I have not had any score improvements using the moon shot or no speedup variants…
I have gotten one-birders, but only in the range of 115-118. My highest score was a two-birder at 120100. I see how scores could be higher, but no matter what I do, the left side of the left hand tower will not fall over on a one-bird shot. Sometimes the little piggy rolls off and dies, but the tower itself never falls over. How are you all getting it to collapse with one bird shot?
@ABinTX, SOMETIMES the blast from the left TNT leaves the left structure unstable making it fall on either side but depending on luck it can either fall(or not) or even worse while it is falling the level ends. But the fall mainly depends on the blast of that TNT. Mine fell after 20-35 tries btw so keep trying. :)
The times it is unstable and looks like it could fall, it also is unstable enough to make that top piggy fall. So the level ends before the tower can fall over all the way. I’ve played this level hundreds of times today and I can’t get over 120 :(
Well to be honest this problem never happened to me(I’m on PC btw)ever so surfcow’s moonshot worked out nicely for me. But it seems you have finally reached 124K. Well this level has potential over 127K, so keep trying. :)
@ABinTX — Have you actually seen any self-destruction on this level? If so, please report in forum:
https://www.angrybirdsnest.com/forum/discussion/873/please-add-to-list-of-self-destroying-and-unstable-levels
I confess I’m WAY behind in updating 1st page.
BTW, I like your avatar.
Woohoo!!!! After many hours of trial and error, lots of failed high arc flinging attempts, a few hours to rest my aching shoulder, and yet more high arc flinging, yes yes yes, 127500 using the 1 bird technique as described in most of the posts herein – and okay, I’ve not yet achieved the top spot I’m so desperately trying to get on this episode, but 6th place is pretty dam close :)))))))))
Way to go @leggy. Now tell us, what type of sorcery did you use to conjure a virtual Mighty Eagle? That’s the only explanation for your Total-Destruction-Level score. For the half dozen others ahead of you, seems they will be getting coal in their stockings on the 25th. I can almost taste the sour grapes in my post, they’ve turned into whine. Aloha. P.S. I despise persistence, too.
@surfcow – I think that sorcerers name might have been ‘persistence’ actually, so maybe best that you don’t despise him too much, lol :)
1-Birder good, 2-Birder bad. There’s only one way to skin these swine, the video way and hope for lots of collateral damage for the really high scores.
I think though that I’ve reached my Rovio imposed zenith.
Im a frequent visitor to the site i have noticed on my 3rd gen device that it doesnt show as much of the area as it does in later version. For instance on this level if you zoom all the way out on my 3rd gen device you can not see the giant candy caneplus the area to the right. I think what is happening is the far right pig is getting blown off screen and you are not getting points for it. I tried on my new 5th gen touch and i immediately was getting better scores for this level. went back to 3rd gen and was immediately getting about 5k less. this could explain why people are having a tough time getting some scores.
I too am unable to see the right side of my screen when fully zoomed out and I’m using an android tablet with a 10.1″ screen. Regardless of this inability, you would not be getting a score total if the far right pig has not popped, but rather a level failed screen once you’ve used all of the birds within the level; the same thing applies to all ab games. The 5k shortfall that you mention is most likely down to other pieces (ie. not pigs) which have not been destroyed, for example, Santa hats, bells, wreaths, ice/wooden blocks…you just have to keep at it until something gives ;)
oh god…. after 100 or more tries to get out of 121k with 1 bird… at last 126990
The gorgeous star in the eastern evening sky (for those of you interested in astronomy, it’s actually a planet – Jupiter) shone brightly on me and gave me 130k on this level – and I didn’t even get the wreath! Destroyed a lot of wood and stone, though.
Wishing all me fellow nesters and AB addicts a joyous Xmas.
Same strat as the video on top, but persistence paid off, I squeezed a couple more k extra out of this one birdie. I got 125090.
Here is my video.
After countless attempts, finally managed a 2-bird clear with a score above the average. All my 1-bird wins gave me scores in the 115K to 118K range. I would have thought that at some point I would have gotten a good score with 1 bird, but my luck just wasn’t there.
For a 2-bird win, my first shot cleared everything but the left most structure and its little pig with a score just above 100K. second shot was to aim the blue bird at the center of left vertical and activate it about half way between the sling and the target. Not much to it other than the countless attempts to get the position you need.
@angrychicken Congratulations on the trophy and great score , There are so many posts above I’m sorry if I missed yours, I’m assuming you used the same strat as in Estar video¿ if not any tips you can offer would be helpful, I’m revisiting these old levels and trying to improve a bit:)
This must be The most boring level in all of Seasons lol ,, same shot over and over, hope the left tower falls!
Moving on for now,, may come back idk
@kathy Yes, just like e-star, and the walkthrough video by the way. I don’t think there is any other way to play this level, nor is there any skill involved. I tried some subtle changes as to how to hit that glass board but I don’t think it makes any difference.
thanks for the reply @angrychicken , I too tried different ways of hitting that far glass but no luck yet R&R I guess is all to do,
you have far more patience than I ,again congrats!
126860/1
It took many tries to get everything to fall correctly. Many points still available, though, so good luck.
Another score deleted … I cannot say a word how this score was achieved, most probably nothing which has not been described above, otherwise I would have written a comment. Definately no top score at that time, actually the ranking was 10. about a year ago:
Winter WonderhamYou’re Ranked 9 out of 1,319
Level Your Score Rank Diff High Avg +/- Avg
1-23 131,080 10 -1,270 121,657 +9,423 n/a
I wonder what happened to all the other scores (1.-9.). Do we now have to make a comment + screenshot upload of every score to prevent it from being deleted?
Or asking the other way round: under which circumstances is a comment/screenshot NOT necessary (ranking of 50., 100.?)?
