In the Ragnahog level 9 video below, we get three stars with three birds for 98010.
Our little red friend takes a fairly high arc to the ball atop the first little hut atop the stone island, raining pieces down on the structure below. Next, Matilda goes low, but still above horizontal, dropping her egg on the lower left hut and smashing into what remains of the top hut. That stubborn pig was still there, so we followed up with Chuck on a slightly higher arc, activating at apogee to go through his green pork-dome and continue into the upper right structure. When that comes crashing down, it’s bye-bye to the hut below.
Clear top left structure with first bird. Low bomb lower left to get as many baubles as you can. Third bird to top right, debris removes lower right stuff.
Top right structure self destructed, unfortunately not a very good Matilda shot, so not a very high score!
@surfcow do you think that Scrooge or the Grinch have designed this years! I do! Have completed today’s and have no wish to try and improve my score – maybe tomorrow’s will be better!
@mumsie I think the scrooge and the French somehow had an evil spawn, the Scrunch, who was instrumental in helping Rovio on this one!
I guess I should wake up before typing. The Scrooge and the Grinch spawned the Scrinch
@mumsie42 ((((((hugs)))) long time no see
@knichy i kinda like Scrunch lol!!
and i must add eggscellent write up!! all your write-ups throughout this episode give me a giggle and fond memories of the old fraud p days of AB :)
oh and you left out the’42’ on mumsie
I didn’t see the 42 – I don’t always notice when nickname isn’t the same as the username
if ( nickname != username ) {
knichy_awareness = random() * random();
} else {
knichy_awareness = random();
}
@Kathy @mumsie42
huh @knichy lol!
The internal code of knichy’s brain is not always decipherable, grasshopper @kathy
?@knichy I wouldn’t dream of trying to decipher the Brain of knichy!!
@kathy inconceivable!
No, @knichy, don’t bother waking up; it’s highly overrated. And in this case, it produced one of the funniest comments I’ve read on here in a long time (or at least until my latest post.) That being said, I’m afraid you’ve broken one of the double-secret, unwritten rules of ABN comedy: Never, ever make fun of the French. It might be tempting, based on the fact that they were responsible for unleashing the most decadent breakfast pastry ever (yes, the Croissant) but you mustn’t bad mouth the French. Unfortunately, my warning may be too late. You’ve seen Les Miserables. The mob is coming. And they’re coming for you @knichy – and they’ll all be wearing Scrunchies in their hair. Beware! Aloha.
Sacre Bleu ! Mer$%
Aloha @surfcow
LOL @surfcow
Glad you’re back, missed you and your fun comments
@surfcow LOL, I think POP Tarts are the best breakfast pastry. At least until you burn your tongue on the overheated filling inside.
OMGiraffe @sufcow is baaacckkk ???
welcome back !! missed your colorful posts!
Red bird to upper left structure, White bird to upper right, dropping egg on lower right structure. Falling debris takes out lower towers. 1 bird left 95k
@terribletom I got a 2-birded similarly, but only 94. Red up to the bottom of the upper hit, a bunch of debris fell left and I believe red did too. The lower but destabilized, all pigs died but left a lot of debris there. Matilda over, drop egg on lower and hit the upper. Lower didn’t roll down the hill 8*(
If I were a betting man I’d say our spicy flingin’ friend got his top score thusly, I think the mighty one pretty much topped out the 3 bird potential at 98
2 birds with a tweek in strat. @knichy,@terribletom bounce red off the rock to the upper left structure to clear left side. Matilda as you did.
More details: it’s a thin repeatable shot, and best results have come from red lightly rolling vertically up the left side of the upper structure. If it collapses to the left there’s a better chance of getting the lower left pigs. Slight instability seems to exist, and luck is a welcome friend.
@John44 – I actually did that once early on (completely by accident), though the rest didn’t pan out. I meant to go back and try that again, I couldn’t repeat it so went back to “normal”
You’re not a former Washington Redskin’s running back are you ?
@knichy @john44 I’m not getting this, when i bounce red off the rock he just bounces back, he doesn’t roll up the side of the structure? maybe a screenshot would help if either of you could¿please i need help lol
ooohh I did it!!!Powah of the Post lol!!
@knichy, @kathy Hit the slope between the rock cliff face and the vertical rock piece on which the left structure leg rests. Red’s -‘ve trajectory is corrected, and if he touches the rock (first before the wood) just below the leg, he’ll run right up the left leg. If the structure breaks loose and moves left, you have a chance of getting the 3 pigs below. The first time it happened, I got 102720. Then I went back to prove the shot is repeatable.
knichy, no not the great John Riggins #44. yob.
Thanks @john44 ?
@john44
good strat., nice details, thx

@john44, ooo what a persnickety shot! But after much perseverance, it worked. Thanks for the handy tip!
@john44 Thank you for posting your strategy. Took a while to find the sweet spot on the left side upper structure and destroy the lower structure with one bird.
@john44 Woot!! got slot #5 with your strat, it took some time and a few flings to get used to the shot, but yep you nailed it!! thanks
Red: To upper left structure clearing it away completely.
Matilda: Over what’s left of lower left structure, bombing it and blasting Matilda through the chains of 100 point Christmas balls. Sometimes her body will take out the lower right structure too.
Chuck: To upper left structure. Try to come at a downward angle and take out the lower left corner of that structure. If you get Chuck to kind of stay put when he hits the rock, then oftentimes the debris will roll over his body and off the edge.
This level is much like a Chinese Finger Trap puzzle: the harder you try to escape with three stars, the worse your score will be. In a Zen-like moment of semi-consciousness, I came up with the following: close your eyes and be the bird. See the pigs. Fling away. Imagine those stubborn structures tumbling like wooden waterfalls. Picture popping pigs. Good. Now open your eyes, realize you’re no where near three stars and then immediately scroll to the well-written strategy offered by @philsey. It’s so simple it’s almost transcendental. Aloha and be well.
Ooooohmmmmmmmm…..
2 birds. Red to top left structure and clear it completely, with some debris falling onto lower left structure for partial collapse. Matilda on low arc and release egg on left of the remains, so she flies up to upper right structure, barely missing the rock (tricky shot). Debris and not-a-carcass fall onto lower right structure. Screen shot shows trajectory and release point. Some debris left for more possible points :-)

Thanks @john44 for the start and @comex666 for the video worked a treat!
Meant “strat”
108340 with 2 birds using @john44 trick and the invaluable video from @comex666 ;-)
Here is the final result.
And the highscore screenshot.
Are you kids playing on iPhone as I’ve hit every angle to make Red climb the upper left structure but to no success
@fatboyslick I play on iPad Air 2, but my little red didn’t really climb up the wall, it sort of doodled around the bottom, thought about it, bought down the whole thing. Thank you little red. Asher who topped my score plays on PC I think.
It’s just luck, I guess. I play Seasons all year, and some episodes I love, this Advent is a bit hit and miss. But I love seeing you every year for your 25 day fling fest!
Indeed I am playing on a PC using BlueStacks.
It’s full hd on a 24″ monitor.
I wouldn’t even try to play on a small screen ;-)
However the sweet spot is quite small.
@fatboyslick I’m on Android tablet and I’ve managed the ‘roll up’ method a couple times, maybe 3 / 100 flings:/ good luck it is a tricky shot!!
but of course those like @asher that fling on PC with Bluestacks can set the mouse to pinpoint the sweet spot and just keep hitting it , at least that’s my understanding of how that works?
@kathy: sure you have the mouse, but you still have to move it to restart the level.
The good old days were with the PC version when you just add to hit R to restart the level, never moving the mouse cursor…
oohh @asher I thought that was what Bluestacks allowed you to do , just set it and forget it, sorry my misunderstanding of these new fangled programs lol..I started on my phone then graduated to a 7″ tablet, and that’s where I’m at.
anyway thanks for sharing ,i can make the shot , just not consistently.. I’m happy with my score for now, I’ll try again another day:)
@kathy: BlueStacks is just and Android emulator so that I can play on my PC running Windows 10.
I can also play using the touchscreen on my Surface Pro, which is then transformed into a 12″ overpriced Android tablet.
Apart from that I have the same Android version as everybody else ;-)
:) Thanks @Asher For that ,i just misunderstood the Bluestacks thing , so your using the same Android as the rest of us Android users, just a bigger screen, i get it now;) really appreciate the time for you to explain , tbh
i really thought it was some kind of unfair advantage, happy to know it’s not??
@kathy FYI. There’s a new (ish) emulator in town called NOX. It does all that Bluestacks does but with lots of options. Programmable Key presses will allow the old PC ‘R” function, Sighting, Co-ordinates and so on. Those one birder levels will be a snip!
Thanks for that info @steviep147, and for thinking of me 😉 Unfortunately the motherboard in my computer fried up, but it was so old iI wouldn’t have been able to install any of those emulators anyway. And honestly I’d rather just fling birds than set an arrow with a cursor and press a button now and then. I’ve graduated to a 10″ tablet now, and as @Asher said with the cursor you still have to reset the level, and on the touchscreen it is *which is then transformed into a 12″ overpriced Android tablet*
Thanks for letting me know though, but my understanding now as time goes by it’s not an unfair advantage, BlueStacks anyway , maybe the NOX being new may be, so be it. I’m happy with my 10″ tablet and my flingin’ finger ,
What i really need is that’comfy chair’ 😂
For those driven mad trying to get red to roll up the leg of upper left structure here’s an alternative way of bringing said structure down onto lower left structure.
Fling red at the left horn, not too high, about 2/3 up. If you hit the right spot the horn will dissolve and red will drop down at an angle, touching said leg and bringing everything down on lower left tower. So same result but much easier shot in my opinion.
Broke 100k pretty quickly ended with 104,860 within 30mins.Bird 2 takes care of right side as described elsewhere.
96650/2
Another crazy, difficult, level. Struggling to get above average here and I will be more than happy with just that.
