Boooo! We broke the news of this update first. Angry Birds Seasons v3.0.0 is now available for iOS, PC, Mac, and Android via Google Play and Amazon Appstore, with more platforms coming soon. The update includes a brand new episode called, “Haunted Hogs”, which appears inside a new, “Seasons 3” group. In typical Seasons fashion this looks to be a spooktacular update. Without further ado, let me jump into the gory details.
Attention Android Users: An update has landed for Google Play as v3.0.1, which reportedly fixes a crashing issue that some users were reporting. The initial release for Amazon Appstore is as v3.0.1.
This update includes
- 30 new levels that take you deep inside a haunted mansion. Did one of those spooky paintings in the background just blink at me? Run!!!! Ahhhh!! Vampire-pigs, Fraken-pigs, scarecrow-pigs oh my! Walkthroughs are live.
- Golden Eggs include a “Big Bat” bonus Golden Egg level that is unlocked after 3-starring all levels. There is one additional Golden Egg to be found in a level. Our Complete Angry Birds Seasons Golden Eggs guide is completely up-to-date, so check it out if you need help.
- Ghost blocks! These apparitions are there, but they really aren’t. Ghost blocks hold up structures, sway, fall and break like normal blocks, but the kicker is you can shoot right through them.
- Optimized for the iPhone 5! Yep, the first major version of Angry Birds to extend all the way to edges of your shiny new toy.
- No power-ups! Which is a darn good thing if you ask me.
- No new achievements for iOS. This is expected, since there is really no space for Seasons achievements points.
- Flashback! (Pro Tip!) Orange jack-o’-lanterns (from Trick or Treat) are worth 3,000 points, and black jack-o’-lanterns (from Ham’o’ween) explode!

Bugs That We’re Checking
The Angry Birds Seasons Back to School update introduced a few bugs, which we’ve listed out below. We will see if these are fixed and update their status as soon as possible. We will also include any new bugs that arise.
- FIXED (Bug 45 iOS/PC/Mac): Confirmed fixed on iOS (v2.5.1) and PC/Mac (v3.0.0).
The Level Selection Screens for “Wreck the Halls” and “Season’s Greedings” are not displaying properly (see this image for an example). - FIXED (Bug 46 iOS/Android/PC/Mac): Confirmed fixed on iOS, Android, PC, and Mac.
Seasons Golden Egg 16 (in Easter Eggs) is now a broken Rube Goldberg machine (see the walkthrough page for more). - UPDATED BUG! WARNING! (Bug 47 iOS/Android/PC/Mac): The original bug, in small print below, is confirmed to have been fixed on iOS, Android, and PC. However, a new bug has arisen. While the levels were un-flip-flopped, the scores were not! PLEASE avoid playing these levels. Rovio has been pinged and we hope they will quickly rectify this issue, as it directly effects data files. Leaderboard entry for these levels has been temporarily closed to avoid corruption.
The Golden Eggs in Moon(cake) Festival have been flip-flopped (see this comment thread for more). As a side effect, the “Golden Mooncake” and “Big Mooncake” unlock backwards (i.e., collecting all 8 slices unlocks the Big instead of the Golden; 3-starring unlocks the Golden instead of the Big). - FIXED (iOS/Android/PC/Mac): Confirmed fixed on iOS, Android, and PC. Mac pending.
Piglantis 2-9 minimum 3-star score has changed. It was 100,000 in the original release and was changed to 102,000 in v2.5.0. - Pending (Bug 48 iOS/Android/PC/Mac): The “New Year Egg” from Wreck the Halls cannot be unlocked in v2.5.0.
- New Bug (PC only): The ropes on the slingshot are not visible on PC.

Good thinking. But repair some:
1. Pumpkin is symbol of Halloween, not thanksgiving. The logo can be a red bird that rides a turkey (that is symbol of thanksgiving).
2. In my idea, the next name is “Head to eggsgiving”.

I am using android and when i type angry birds,angry birds seasons,qngry birds space on the google play angry birds does not appear so as seasons and they show the premium space version i wanted to update the seaons but the play store said that my flitering level does not allow me to download and i have ABO ABSeasons and ABspace and bad piggies WHATS WRONGGGGGG?????????
I would try restarting your device. It may be good to look at Rovio’s developer page on Google Play in order to find the apps you are interested in.
Your play store wrong setting filter? Try open play store, option, setting, and search content filtering it’s all tick or only tick everyone?
Interesting. The Android App adds permissions to process payments through Google Play, but no ad-free or ME yet. Sad. I was really hoping to get that for ABS this time around.

and just played Piglantis 2-9 (several times) Got 100,520 and 3 stars. Looks like that bug is fixed on android.

No I consider your word sufficient on this one. Thanks for the help! Did the other Android bugs look fine to you as well? @rdnzlrips82 helped me with those, though four eyes are better than two.

Bug 45 – not really sure. My level selection screen looks like the image in the link. I don’t remember what it is supposed to look like.
Bug 46 is fixed. was able to one bird it like the walkthrough
Bug 47 – the level selection does open the correct level, but the scores are swapped.

Another interesting thing about the Android update. I have shortcuts to all 4 AB games on my home screen. When I tried to launch AB Seasons, it said “This application is not installed” (or something along those lines). I started to freak out. I had just played numerous levels, checking on the bugs listed in the post. I knew the game was installed. I then went into my downloads, found a new Angry Birds icon. I tapped that and the new updated seasons started just fine.
Just out of couriousity, i closed the game and tapped on the home screen icon for ABS, again the message. Went into my downloads, tapped the new icon and no problem.
It looks like the new version un-installs the old version, saves the data files and installs the new version. Possibly in a slightly different place since the original ABS icon no longer worked. Never had an issue like this with any other AB game or update.
So if your ABS does not run, check your downloads for a new icon.
I would not at all be suprised if this is the issue that the majority of commenters on Google Play were having. There were a few “force close” comments, but the majority said it would not open. I tweeted Rovio about problem, but have not heard back yet. @sparty83 If install is sucessful will backup files still work to restore progress?

I have not tried backing up my data after the update. I did do a backup before the update.
Still wish Rovio would come up with an approved backup scheme. Wether its to SD card, cloud, dropbox, what ever. They need to address this.
Here is an image of my phone showing 2 different AB Seasons Icons.
Along the bottom are: AB, ABS, ABR, ABSp. Just above ABS is the old seasons icon. When I tap on it “Application is not installed on your phone” appears. Normally when an application is uninstalled, so is the icon. Weird how this one stayed.

Try searching the app manually in the AppStore.
I did check before commenting and it does say 23rd of Oct. It isn’t greyed out either, so when I clicked on the buy now, it said ‘This app requires iOS 4.3’, so I presume that’s it for us with older devices then. And I do have season’s paid for app installed. :'(
The app requires iOS 4.3 and, for iPod Touch, 3rd gen or higher.
I know, I did mention so. Do we get no more updates on the older devices then? All the updates I have ever had off all 3 AB apps on my iPod have been compatible and worked great, now they have pushed us who can’t afford new devices away by making this new update unusable for us.
Anyone else noticed that on the play screen (with the pumpkin that says play) no items are flying around like birds and 3 star episode signs in the background

I believe @Chriss was the first to report this. I will mention it to Rovio, though I think it’s a quite minor “bug”, if we want to call it that.
FWIW, this only happens if Haunted Hogs is the last episode played. If you play another episode, the items come back.
I thought that was intended, because, how can they go through the floor? It’s real life physics bro.
IMO it was meant to make some spooky “Haunted House” effect.
How to update on PC?
The auto-updater should be working properly, but if you aren’t being prompted upon starting Seasons, you can download the “Demo” at Rovio’s site to get the new .exe file.

There were definitely a couple of odd hiccups for me when I updated the app on Android, but I was able to get it going without too much fuss. After I started the download for the first time, I made sure the data was transferring before I looked away for a few minutes, but when I looked back, the download seemed to have quit on its own. I was a little confused, but it downloaded and installed correctly when I did it a second time. As others have alluded to, it also removed the shortcut from my phone’s home screen, but that’s happened to me many times before in AB updates, and it took only a few seconds to manually reinstate the shortcut.
The aspect of this update that made me happiest, though, was that they fixed the bizarre juddering that the Back to School update had introduced into the birds’ flight paths. At that time, I had assumed that my ancient phone (an original Motorola Droid) was simply too slow to play the revamped Seasons app properly. Happily, that seems not to have been the case – not only is the juddering gone, but while the app still doesn’t run completely smoothly (none of the AB apps do on my phone), it actually seems smoother overall than it used to be. I’m quite pleased that Rovio was able to figure out how to do that.

BTW I’m curious: In the image on the main post I can clearly see at the bottom 5 dots indicating 5 pages on the selection screen. On Android we only have 4: 1) Bad piggies ad, 2) the new episode, 3) AB merch ad and 4) ABO and newsletter ad. What is missing?

On PC the ABO and the newsletter ad have their own pages.
I’m not sure if this is an issue or not.
I have been using an old model of Motorola, with Android 2.1. As soon as I knew that the new update of AB Seasons is out in Google Play in the update log, I quickly entered the Play Store. It did not show the update.
Then, in the Google Play page, the description says:
Current version: varies with device
Requires Android: varies with device
Does that implies that Rovio will no longer provide updates for those with older Android models? Man, this is not the Rovio that I know before. :(

In the Android market on the phone it talks about the latest release of Haunted Hogs and has pictures of the new update. However it’s at version 2.5.0 and there is no update.
I’m also on Android 2.1 and was also wondering the same thing.
I would be mightily hacked off if they’ve just abandoned support for Android 2.1 without mentioning it anywhere.

Version 3.0.0 will not work on Android 2.1
I have just downloaded the latest .apk and disassembled the AndroidManifest.xml
The killer line:
android:minSdkVersion=”8″
This implies you need a least Android 2.2 in order for it to run.
The previous version v2.5.0 was
android:minSdkVersion=”4″
Which meant it worked on Android 1.6
So yes – Rovio has essentially stopped supporting Android 2.1 and below.

The latest version of Seasons 3.0.0 will NOT run on Android 2.1 and below.
I imagine this will also affect future updates of all Angry Birds, and the new Star Wars update.
That’s me wiping off all my apps – as essentially I’ve completed them.
@twiki I think this is totally normal. android 2.1 is really really old. eventually every app will undo that from supporting. this is the way. just upgrade to new phone. Rovio acted what many app developers already did. so, just upgrade your device…

I do appreciate the need to move on – as a developer myself I agree.
However – when it’s just adding a few more levels to an existing product there is no reason it can’t carry on running on 2.1.
Original and Space, with in app purchases, fancier graphics and different physics engines all manage to run on 2.1 – so I can’t see what’s so special about Haunted Hogs which needs a new API level.
Maybe release it as a new game app, but to part way adjust the app in my mind is wrong. What’s even worse is that they haven’t mentioned this fact in any of their literature.
Two weeks ago AB Original v2.3.0 landed on Android 2.1.
With this in mind I think it’s quite normal to expect the AB Seasons v3.0.0 to land on Android 2.1 as well.
If Rovio is to cease supporting Android 2.1, that’s fine, I have all my data backed up, I’m good for a newer phone.
But why didn’t Rovio tell us this explicitly?
According to Rovio Support – this was because there are many things which will affect your ability to run the game, not just your version, and listing all of the prerequisites would be too difficult.
That said, the only things I can think which could possibly affect it would be your Android version and your screen resolution. Hardly that difficult to explain.
As I pointed out to them, regardless of any other prerequisites is cannot ever work on Android 2.1 and this should have been made clear.
You better to backup your ABS progress and upgrade your device. I’ve already upgrade my SE xperia x10 (2.1) to gingerbread 2.3.3 (and also gives multi touch support)
Not all of us can afford to upgrade hence I still have and use a fully functioning 1st gen iPod Touch.
My seasons did an automatic update this morning. It will not open now.
Make sure you tapping on the correct icon. There is a new one for the update. Check you downloads for it and it should work. (See my post above)
There’s some improvements in this update:
-Summer Pignic’s main menu background has some sunflowers, mud(?), and the play button looks shinier
-Piglantis’ level selection screen adds 2 birdfishes (Red and Bomb)
-More coming soon (if available)

Is Rovio not updating the Amazon app store any more? It been long tine since any undate have come three. No Hunted Hog and I am missing one for Angry Birds. If I go to the play store it show I can update but was not sure you can cross stores updates. So I am still waiting.
It does appear that since the Angry Birds Original update that Amazon is only updating the Kindle Fire. That is the only place the ABO update appears. The Free and Ad Free version of ABO have not been updated according to the web pages. I think because of a lot of problems with ABSp and ABO (ME) they are just going to update the Kindle Fire. This is all speculation, but it would be nice if they let the Android phone users know this if it is their plan. If you back up ABS, you can changes stores, but be sure to have a backup or you will lose all of your progress. I am waiting one more day and then I will switch my Android phone to Gooogle Play ABS. I have already switched ABSp and ABO to Google.
Different app stores take different amounts of time to develop and gain approval. To our knowledge, Amazon is still an active store.
It is definitely an active store for other apps. I also noticed on Rovio ABSW page that only the Kindle Fire is mentioned and not the Amazon Appstore as it had been on other AB releases. IMO I think they are having a lot of trouble with the phone side of AB and are only going to focus on the Kindle Fire in the future. Otherwise, they are really losing the race to release because ABO update has been out for awhile now. Not to mention the problems they have had with ABSp and ABO Mighty Eagle. I have a little patience, but Amazon has been testing the limits.

Hi, I’m having the same problem and I have a PC. I have restarted, updated my drivers, ran the repair across the game and even reinstalled it. I have tweaked all the compatibility settings and even deleted the the file with settings in it. Still doesn’t solve the problem. Any more ideas?

I’m having the same problem too with my PC! I contacted Rovio about this and tried their advice but it didn’t work. I tried updating my graphics card driver and uninstalling the game and reinstalling it but didn’t work. Try updating the graphics card driver on your PC. It didn’t work for me but it might work for you.
If they give me any other information I will post it here for you. It only started with this update and doesn’t cross over to any other AB game. At least I’m not the only one having the problem so I wonder if maybe it has to do with having an older (four years old) computer. birdyboo93, do you have an older computer?
thanks for the response. i have an acer extensa 4420. it has a ATI radeon x1200 series graphics card. i updated the card’s drivers today but my ABSeasons game is still blurry. could the graphics card be too old for the new update for ABSeasons. do i need a new computer. the recent update for the classic angry birds game did’nt make that game blurry and that update was very recent. i highly appreciate the advice. thank you.

Well that sucks if Amazon app store doesn’t keep the android Angry Birds alive and updated. Mine are all ad? fee and I paid for them they were not free apps of the day. I do have all my Angry Birds games back up so I am ready to jump back to Google just don’t want ad.

It is not a sure thing. I am just basing my opinion on the last several updates of ABSp, ABO and ABS. I actually love Amazon, except for when it comes to Angry Birds. It would make sense form a business standpoint to only support the Kindle Fire for Angry Bird updates because it would only be one device to worry about.
Sorry for the long answer, no it is not confirmed and can’t be at this point. However, their main competetition is Google Play and they are not doing a good job of competing as far as Angry Birds goes.
You are being unjustifiably critical. As I said, as far as we know, Amazon is an active platform. Perhaps Rovio is working on the IAP issue on Amazon.
@amslimfordy I apologize for being unjustifiably critical. Since the IAP (Space Eagle), Amazon updates were released within hours (ABR, ABS and ABO) and now in some instances it has been several days to several weeks. However, they do seem good about the Kindle Fire HD releases. I know its not an easy business, but it can be frustrating for the Amazon users. I am truly sorry for not cutting them any slack.
I noticed after downloading this update for the PC version, the graphics are rather “fuzzy”. Could this be a bug?
There’s a bug with Android version – if you don’t have Data or Wi-Fi enabled, the game will force close (without any kind of notice though) every time you open any level.
I don’t have that bug. Even my phone is a low-end device. You should contact rovio for this

Probably just didn’t want to crowd the story. I think of these like Bugs Bunny cartoons. Not every cartoon had Bugs, Daffy, Porky, Elmer, etc. in the same story. Usually it was just a few characters that were needed to tell the story properly.

I agree with the Looney Tunes theory, but as for Al, I agree with @nanami. He has only appeared in ONE VIDEO only in the history of Rovio made videos (summer pignik)(besides walkthroughs). And green bird didn’t even look like green bird at all! Stella is understandable because she is still very new. It seems as if Rovio doesn’t want Al to be in videos because it’s hard to animate him because of his big and get-in-the-way beak.

Haunted Hogs is the only episode to not have objects flying around on the Main Screen.
Haunted Hogs on the Episode Selection Screen glows, unlike all the others.
Haunted Hogs is the only episode to have a different level failed picture.

still crashes in my Android, when im without wifi or 3g , but when i turn or my internet conection i can play the levels, i had hope they will fix the bug in this update, but it seems the same to me.
