I got 73,600. The pig in the Santa hat on the right went kerblammo!! Not sure if the one on the left explodes though and seems pretty hard to do.

Weeks ago, the game glitched and I managed to get 84580.
Turns out that it was the exploding Santa hat bug, which I just learned about by reading the forum.

I got the presents with the yellow bird, then I used the white bird to bomb the left Santa hat pig as it’s shown in the video.
Then everything exploded.

got 80k. Took out presents with yellow bird, then dropped the first egg to the left of the base of the first (left) pig wearing a Santa hat and everything exploded. Did it totally by accident.

@FujiToast I believe he’s referring to the white mouse indicator that the screencast software uses.

Jack, those aren’t part of the game. They’re just used in the video to indicate where his finger touched the screen.

I’m with gooseberrie. This level is highly difficult, and this method never worked well for me. This was the only level in four free editions (Original, Rio, Seasons, Lite) that I couldn’t get 3 stars on. Over the course of a couple of months, I cleared all the pigs maybe 5 times using this method, and the rumored “bug” was never “available” to me (and I only ever got 2 stars). I finally gave up using this method and after a week or so was able to get 3 stars. I put the first yellow bird straight into the first house, then used the white birds on the 4th then 2nd pigs (the 1st white bird got the dynamite/gifts when it took off and the 3rd pig’s house collapsed on him).

I’m finding this one of, if not THE, hardest levels of any AB game to three star. If anyone has an alternative strategy or some insight on how to beat this level I’d appreciate it. The video seems to be a one in a million shot. I’ve come close to replicating it but something always survives.

You’re not the only one finding this level extremely difficult. My feeling about it is, especially since this is AB:Seasons Free, is that Rovio should have left the Santa Hat Glitch in this one. The remnant of it makes itself known occasionally, as every so often, when launching the first white bird, I ‘ll see a small flash pop off.

I’m going to back off of this one for a while.

I’m in the same boat as you, at least as regards to Seasons Free. I’m looking for ideas as well. Sure wish I had one at the moment. I woulld certainly share it if I did. Thus, my decision to let this one level “marinate,” after a fashion, in my mind, and maybe I’ll come up with something.

At least I hope so, as I make no guarantees.

I finally 3-starred this one a few minutes ago. What I ended up doing was studying the walkthrough video very, very closely, checking for things like target positions, acceleration/release timings, and seeing how closely I could duplicate the video.

Now that I’ve got it, one final closing comment: given how difficult this level is, and not just for me, I can perhaps see why this one didn’t make the cut for the full version. Without the Santa Hat Glitch, it’s just far too frustratingly difficult.

@truckdriver – glad you were able to finish it the way shown in the video. I was not. I went with the strat oulined by @laurence below and beat the level within 20 tries or so.

I’ve said it before, but the this and some of the other levels in this free version are very challenging. Moreso than you would think for a freebie.

@birdleader, @fujitoast, @amslimfordy – would be really appreciative if one of you could take a look at this and see if there is an alternative way to three star this level w/o the SHG.

I cannot for the life of me make it work the way Fuji does in his video – not sure if it’s possible anymore.

@playdbird my score is 100% non SHG, but I haven’t tried it recently to improve it – I’ll give it a go though, and try and pin down a new strat if poss :)

OK, alternative strategy for this level, leads to slightly lower scores than Fuji’s vid, but more repeatable. Work from left to right on this so:

yb: Fire almost straight, using the boost to go through the ice and popping the hatted pig in the first structure.

1st wb: Above the debris left from the first bird in a low arc, so that when you drop the bomb, the bird itself flies up into the middle structure. It’s useful (but not essential) to have 3 of the pigs popped at this point.7

2nd wb: Above the debris of the second structure dropping the bomb so as to destroy the remaining pig(s) and also so that the bird itself flies up into the rope holding the tnt, dropping the tnt onto the presents, destroying 2 or 3 of them for extra 6-9k

The key bird here is the second one. Too little damage can result in an impossible third shot. Too much can actually result in a 2-birder w/out the presents, only leading to 56/5k scores. I think a high scoring two birder is possible, but I haven’t achieved it yet.

All in all, not an easy level, but best of luck everyone :)

@laurence – I’m giving you credit my friend – that was a good strat and it worked for me pretty quickly. I was caught in the box of thinking that the presents had to go first (without them I didn’t think you could get the score to achieve three stars).

Your strat worked for me after about 20 tries to get everything down – so thank you very much!

I was caught in that same box, with regards to this level. It’s simply amazing how so many of us can see something like the walkthrough video and lock our mental images into that specific process. In fact, there was a show on that very concept on the Discovery Channel today.

Fascinating stuff.
