Our strategy for Angry Birds Seasons Back to School level 1-3 is to fire the yellow bird at a medium arch so it comes down just to the right of the middle left stone block, taking down the left hand tower. Use one more yellow bird to mop up the pigs hiding out in the right hand side structure. The score in the video is 118,780.

There is a sweet spot in this level just above the angled stone plank, a one bird clear is possible if you fire the first bird nearly straight ahead and go through the hollow wooden square. My score was 121k, but I am sure there is more for the taking.
@burbman – if you shoot through the hollow wooden square of the left hand tower (which is what I assume you mean) won’t that put you below the stone plank? Is that where you’re saying you want to be on the first shot? Thanks.
@play d bird – No, I hit the hollow wood box behind the two or three vertical wood pieces at the top of that tower is where I hit. Almost straight across from the sling. Right underneath the horizontal stone block. You want to get the bird between the top of the angled stone and the lower edge of the upper block.
I’ve been trying to find that sweet spot but i just can’t :0( Could you send a picture or the spot you’re talking about ? Thanks a lot.
Nevermind, just found it
@orphee – tell the rest of us :-)
The spot I found is just above the second pig (above the first coloured pencils). You have to hit just above the vertical angled stone and go through the little vertical wood, the bigger one and finally the square one without touching anything else …
Hope this help …
Still can’t get a reasonnable score though :0(
Thanks for the strat @burbman…It took me awhile to figure out where it was…but I finally got a one birdie with an above average score. I had gotten a few others but scores were always low.
Using the sweet spot strategy, I got 122k after just a few tries! The first structure just kept falling and breaking apart when I launched the second bird to hit the base of the structure near the TNT. Thanks @burbman! :D
135k with this strategy.
When are you accelerating? I can’t seem to get a straight shot.
i finally got a reasonable score ,i read your strat @burbman ,but i went at the wrong 1 ,meaning instead of the top box u meant i hit the lower 1 with just the 1 concrete bit on it and it seems u can get the same fall ,i expect its much like where u are going through at the top, everything but the little pig on the bottom right was destroyed ,anyway thought it worth a mention ,..now i will go for the top,,:D
127900 using this strategy and two birds, where the second bird broke the hollow square and continued all the way in to take out the moustached pig. Then everything just fell apart.
@burbman: Thanks for the strat! It took me several times for everything to fall just right, but it finally paid off! Improved my score 16k with your strat.
The strat actually gave me the top score, which I don’t expect to stand for long, but I’ll enjoy it while it lasts. :)
Took me a while to figure out where to shoot. The shot is just above the left-most diagonal stone block. There is a small window into a thin wood block, then a thicker wood block, then the wooden square in question. The wood square has pigs touching the top and bottom of it. It takes a good shot to squeeze in there and break the wood square, then a bunch of luck for it all to fall for enough points.
Nice @burbman. It took a while, but I started finding “semi-sweet” spots getting through the hollow block but requiring 1 or 2 more birds to finish. Then one time it all collapsed left, leaving the TNT and still getting 127k points.
I cannot find the sweet spot @burbman ..any help..I just cant make average..
@kathy – It is a tricky shot, and I am about to drop below average on the level myself. Yellow bird needs to go through the vertical wood piece just above the angled stone plank. About one in four or five tries, he will pass through that board and go all the way through the hollow wood square behind it. When that happens, the entire structure can collapse on itself. I thought it was impressive when it fell for 122k, I can’t imagine what some of these high scores looked like!
Thanks @Burbman ..:( I’ve done that over and over with no collapse ..guess I’ll just keep trying;)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hSVEdtvnwVM&feature=plcp THis is not a very high score but for those that are still looking for the spot ,or 1 of them ,have a gander it might help ,,ggood luck
i got my first 1birda on this level, only 121k,but i am getting alot closer due to the delivery of the first bird ,u want to shoot the bird so it would almost hit that spot on its own ,just touching the dark clouds in the background to right of sunlight is the trajectory i use …..GL
O.k yepp it’s been a while, cancel that @xebic88 and @sparty83 just read back through old posts and see this flipping bird issue was already discussed:/
:-) xx
@xebic88 and @sparty83 How come your yb did flips off the sling in your videos?
Finally found this sweet spot though still needed two birds for 126,110
Till now, I was sick of this level, God knows how many times i hit those ‘sweet spot’ and only scored <110k. Even got couple of one bird clears doing so but only for 115k.Its just matter of luck with the damage, same spot and Thanks lady luck for showing up now, 126k with two birds. :-)
Thanks for the strat.
@burbman, I just got a 1-Birder using your sweet spot after about 20 tries, thanks for the assist. I’m sure that there has to be a higher score than the one I got, but it’s still about 3k+ over what I had.
Thanks @burbman for the post. Hit the sweet spot and was lucky to get the little pig on the lower right side to say bye, bye. That pig was a challenge for this level. This level was difficult to make the average score but just kept flinging into the area you described and it still works well.
I have had some success with a moonshot high over the level either coming down on the TNT or bouncing off the concrete on the high tower and falling onto the TNT. The ‘splosion pushes everything to the left. I have to experiment with this some more, but I think it may be a great alternative shot – I’m just not sure if it will provide a higher score than the straight on approaches.
I’ve tried the moonshot to the TNT myself, but it doesn’t seem to do very much. The leftward shift of the structures doesn’t go very far. You’d think in such a situation that the narrow stone beam, even at it’s odd angle would help the leftward push, but it too, doesn’t seem to do much.
So far, I’m well into my 2nd day of hacking away at this level, being stuck a mere 800 points below the 3* threshold. I’m also at the verge of inventing a new factor, called the “C” Factor.
The “Curse” factor?
Exactly!!!
At last, I can put the “C” Factor to rest. Until it’s needed again, of course!
@TruckDriver, if I didn’t know any better, I’d say that these wood blocks are made out of petrified wood.
Or cinder block, perhaps…
@TruckDriver, this has got to be the most pigheaded and stubborn level I’ve ever come across, it’s getting worse than ridiculous, more like ludicrous that a person can’t pass the time away and relax while playing a game, no siree, that’s not what Rovio intends for us. what they really want is for us to throw fits of absolute rage and to throw our Laptops, iPads or whatever else we’re playing with out the windows or beneath vehicle tires to smash at our leisure and their pleasure.
All the while, their sick and demented quadriplegic sense of humor keeps coming up with more new ideas to further destroy whatever vestige of sanity we may have left in us.
I heard that Star Wars is going to make all the other chapters and editions of AB look like sleeping pussycats.
On a separate note, perhaps the Zombie Apocalypse isn’t that far away after all, because that’s what all we diehard players of AB are eventually going to turn into.
Hey, if you gotta lose it, then losing it through AB is probably the best way that I can think of.
I almost got a one birder using a moonshot to the TNT.
It has to bounce off both towers (maybe just the second) and then fall gently onto the TNT. One time this cleared the whole level except for the leftmost pig down below. I do think the one birder is there for this approach for someone with lots of patience.
Alternatively, I’ve had better luck with a moonshot to the first pig on the high tower, with YB dropping right down into the little space between his perch and the vertical wood plank. Again, not a one birder for me, but I think it’s there if you can push the diagonal wood beam running between the towers to the right with enough force.
Well before I smash yb’s head into stone plank..or through 3 pieces of thick wood..or to the moon…I am going.to move on before I do any of those things to my phone ;)
Quit while I’m behind I always say;) ty all for help..I’m sure it gets worse before it gets better..;) take. Care
3 birds deal is possible (120350 points), but it requires you to destroy most if not everything.
I am about to just take the two stars and move on. :-(
hi @graypets ,just to answer your question about when to accelerate ,i found it did not make heaps of difference ,but i prefer to speed up over half way to targeted area,,i think the slight downward angle ends with better collapse ,i am sure u will get it and then u wont know how it wasn,t dropping before ,.i would also suggest keeping up the fluid intake ,and a short walk ,even if its just around the table ,my preference is in a anticlockwize direction ,but each to there own …Best of luck
I got 1-birder and my score is higher than 125,000 points!
Strategy or it didn’t happen.
Are you singing “Na Na Boo Boo” to us cedrick? lol, that’s not like you, you usually share your talents with us. You do have a nice voice though!
While my best is currently 116130 after several tries, I can now consistently bring down the left tower on the first shot. One tip, the sweet spot is small, about the height of YB. There is stone block on top of a wooden block the same size on the far left. You cannot break that wood block on the initial impact and expect everything to fall. You must hit below the wood block and above the thin, diagonal concrete block. The time I accelerate has not made a perceptible difference. I’ll keep at it and hope everything falls for a 1 birder.
Am I the only one who seen the yellow bird fly in a tumbling manner after activation? It seems to be rotating (in a straight line) instead of just flying straight.
Yep, it does that for me, too, @sparty83. I have no idea what causes it or whether it makes any difference.
Can anybody explain this to me? I linked to a video I made showing the yellow bird rotate in flight after being activated. In this one, he only rotates about 1 revolution but I have seen (at least I think I have) it rotate a couple of times before reaching the structure.
http://youtu.be/LEjaeWLXeCs
@amslimfordy, any clues? My wife has the exact same model phone and she has not updated to BtoS. I noticed this same thing happening on other levels that use the yellow bird. It happens on my phone but not hers so I’m guessing its in the BtoS update. (she does have piglantis)
@sparty83 – is the YB doing this ALL the time or only once in a while? Check position of the bird in the fling. Sometimes any of the Angry birds will be a bit tilted after reset – then they would fly in a weird pattern after launching. It happens with the White Bird and the Bomb Bird too. It also happens in other AB games and levels not just this one. Just reset the level and fling again. I haven’t noticed if the blue birds, Ms Pinky or Terrence (big bird) experience the same flight disturbance yet.
Definate rotation in flight, I have only seen it once, and it really caught my eye.
@gypsybird, if you watch the video in the above link, you will see that this is the very first bird, so the position in the sling should be good. I do know what you are talking about with regards to the position. There are times when debris flys back and hits the bird in the sling making him/her not sit right but this is not the case.
I have not seen it ALL the time but it seems to happen more often than not. I recorded it also in AB Seasons, Trick or Treat level 3-3. (again, first bird) My wife has the same model phone I do and hers does not exhibit this behavior (on any level). But then, her phone is not updated to the Back To School update. (Not after what I saw with my phone). IMO it seems to be related to the Back to School update.
@sparty83, now I wonder if other Android users are experiencing this same thing after the BTS update. I know I don’t get it on the iPhone such as you are describing. Only the occasional crooked birdy flight. I’ve seen YB doing that in other worlds/levels but haven’t had it on this one yet. might be good to report it to Rovio as a possible bug.
Has happened to me on Android as well.
Guess what!? It actually happened to me tonight on this level – 4 times. The YB was sitting pretty on the sling and when I shot him out he started doing the somersaults towards the structure. It did not happen every time I threw him out, but it did happen multiple times. Yep, might be a bug. Either that or the speedy YB has been visiting the ‘Bloated Pig’ for a little libation prior to game time which inhibited his ability to fly straight on. Fly the Line, Yellow Bird, Fly the Line.
Im soo glad I scrolled down..my bird is doing flips..on android..sometimes helpful..most times annoying..ty for saving my sanity @sparty83 ;)
I have it happen everytime..and on level 1& 2 seems like skipping or partlt rewinding after takeoff..
No I swear @GypsyBird Alfred has not had a drink in years;)
its not helping me eithet..at times seems like game reverses for a split second also diminishing the power of the falling debris…
So YB is ‘Alfred’. Check. Still not sure he didn’t drink something that caused a mess up with his navigational senses. I know it is frustrating, especially when it seems like a good shot off the sling. I decided to focus on the new AB Space addition now and take a breather off of BTS. Glad we do have options!
With the new update to Seasons, Haunted Hogs, the acrobatic yellow bird is gone. It flies true now.
Ok, I have done some preliminary testing and this is what I found.
I almost always play zoomed all the way out so I can see the whole level. Also, there have been some levels where a quick shot of the next bird yields higher scores. This also allowed me to “quick” fire birds if needed. I have played numerous levels on several different episodes and the rotating bird exists in all levels I tried.
When the level starts with a yellow bird, more times than not, it has a lot of wood. Some of these levels take a little time to “settle” out. When I fire the yellow bird during the settling, it will rotate.
If I wait a few seconds, or longer as needed for it to completely settle, the bird fly true. This is true most of the time but not always. (i may not be waiting long enough)
If there are more than one yellow bird, the rotating flight can appear in the others. For example, Ham’O’Ween, level 1-2, has 3 yellow birds and a lot of wood (far away from the sling shot). If I start that level and rapid fire all 3 birds, all 3 will rotate in flight. If I take my time, wait for all debris to settle out, the birds will fly true.
In Wreck the Halls, 1-9, the yellow bird is second. I waste the first blue bird, doing as little damage as possible. If I send the yellow bird while the blue bird is still visible on screen, it will rotate. If I wait until the blue bird is gone, the yellow will fly true.
From what I have seen so far, it ANYTHING onscreen is moving, even the slightest, the yellow bird will rotate in flight, regardless of the order in which it is flung (first, second, third etc). I am not sure if the damage done is different based on how the yellow bird hits the objects, but seeing it rotate is a bit odd, to say the least. As I have mentioned before, my wife has the same model phone, not updated to Back to school, and NONE of her yellow birds rotate.
I know that the admins (@amslimfordy) of this site have a contact at Rovio, so I was wondering if you could ask them about this? I know you are all busy with the updates that just came out and that other issue, but any help would be greatly appreciated. (I am willing to make vids of the difference if need be)
You are correct @sparty83! It happened to me tonight more than once on this level and I have an iPhone. @thetoddman23 also reported it and he has an Android. See my response to your other post above. THe video you put up on YouTube is exactly like what I saw him do tonight.
I kinda like it..thought it was part of the game;) @sparty83
It is kinda cute seeing him do the somersaults in the air like that (reminds me of being a kid again). But this didn’t help me at all – he just hits the structure with a thud and no damage on my iPhone. It is different than the tilted bird on the sling shot when the bird just flies cockeyed looking rather dazed at the flight.
Umm.. has anybody noticed that the upper part of the center tower collapsed?
Only after I’ve wasted 2 birds ;-)
I got a one birder which is super tricky and gave me more than 125000 points.
Is this level some kind of cruel joke? 3 days working on it, still can’t get 3 stars. Tried every suggestion. I’ll give it one more day, then say goodbye to this level forever.
I have been trying to get 3 stars on this level for literally a week, and the best I can do is 15,910. I know this is not the hardest level ever, but for me, well……I guess its going to be the first level that I don’t 3 star. It just isn’t happening. Frankly, I think they need to lower the minimum 3 star score, but that’s just my opinion.
Like @burbman I found the sweet spot just above the second piggy, to bad the last piggy didn’t want to roll of the platform otherwise I would have got 137k… but needed a second birdie and got 128960 o well better luck next time, for now I am happy with my score.
Here is my video.
Thank you for the video @e-star, I knew what I had to do for this one but it really helped to see it – you got some awesome destuction! I had the same thing happen with that one pig left rolling around, but finally beat average after a few hundres tries.
I did see the top of the tallest tower shift a few times & unbalance a bit but it never collapsed. Didn’t seem to provide any advantage either.
It was reassuring to watch your video showng me that I was firing at the correct set of blocks. I’ve hit the sweet spot about 30 times and had the first structure colapse, but nothing to the right of the mustached pig. Very frustrating.
At 2 in the morning, I finally got lucky. 124660 and goodbye level 3!
LOL indeed, knowing something is possible can really drive up the perseverance :D
Great job @Karen68 and ohforfive!
Even though you told us ahead of time that the last pig doesn’t die; I was still cheering it on. “Go, go, go; roll damnit!!”
I was able to clear this with one bird at a medium arch…got a score of 129,200
I’m not very fond of the Back to School update. I don’t think the graphics are up to Rovio’s usual standard & when the levels are this difficult, at least it should be fun to look at. I finally got a decent score thanks to @E-Star‘s video. I’m glad I have a good book to read during the Challenge because I am only 3 levels into the series & I’m in no hurry to do my homework on another.
@GianniF123 played this level same as most folks, y/b sent mid arc and through 2x wood block & wood hollow below stone block of front tower. shot at this one for eight days and finally the stars aligned. here’s a screenshot to give you some help hopefully. GL.
http://angrybir.de/Ul0ZId
This is absolutely the worst level on Angry Birds, EVER!
Yes, I’ve followed all of the instructions and clues up above.
I’ve played both clues many times but I just don’t get the damage that others are getting.
I have 3 stars on every level in all the Angry Birds levels so this is really ticking me off!
Why wouldn’t my have enough power to do any damage? I play on my Android X phone.
Well, I have officially given up on Angry Birds! I don’t move on until I get 3 birds on each level. I hate this level!
Thank You @burbman for thinking of this strategy, and thank you @e-star for your video, should be the main walkthrough, Thanks!
Just struck the Achilles heel mentioned before (just above the slanted concrete plank), and the entire left side crumbled! Drove the second bird into the exposed right tower and watched it all come down. Left me with a score of 131,920!
This level is sooooo adictive! I first started playing it only to clear my way to the Daily Challenge 1-14. I never made it past this level until the challenge was over. So many times I have been thiiiiiiis close to a nice score in the 130s, I could have cried each time. I WILL be back!
Hey, my younger self, you are nuts! I can’t even get a glimpse of a 130k score! Moving on…
Roflmao @bonneypattycat :D
I said to myself ‘self , why are you back in this awful hard level’!!!
And @bonneypattycat some flingers never learn!! Here i be again!!?
I think i see my trouble, not enough WWwwwwweHhhhhhhiiiiinnnnneeee?
O.k @knichy your turn to help out a BFf I’m invoking the BFFLF!!?
Whiiiiiine back atcha @kathy
Thanks @knichy..?
Kk a week later and is still not working , gotta try a new tactic?? puhlezzzzeeee AngryBirdsGoddess grant me some luck here please..
Very hard level! Although the strategy that was mention above and in the video didnt work for me. So after a whole day thinking how to get above the average, I figured out how to do. That strategy is a little hard from the other strategy, but you will have more % of success. The strategy can be done with 1 bird, but I have only achieved with two.
So 1st shot – fly in mid arc and activate the bird about 2/3 distance. That way you will hit the 2 small verticale wooden planks + the long plank in the first tower. In best case scenario you will get 1 bird, in worst 2 (or more) remaining pigs – one in left and one in right. If none of this options was happened, then we proceed to the second shot.
2nd shot will vary, depends on which side have remaining pig(s). If that is the right side (tower), its easy – just throw the bird in the long verticale wooden plank. But if is the left side, then you have two options: throw in the middle like the first shot of the video, or throw in the bottom. I prefer the first option, because you can do more damage and you have small chances to mess things up.
Thats it, hope you like my strategy, and good luck :)
