Angry Birds Rio Timber Tumble Walkthrough Level #3

Our strategy for Timber Tumble Level #3 is to toss a Red bird into the exposed marmoset in the middle tower, causing it to topple leftward. Repeat the shot with the Black bird, detonating the TNT and throwing rubble to the left. The score in the video below is 97,340.

First bird (red) through the left tiny wood. Left structure will collapse, score about 25K. Then second bird (bomb bird) through the concrete structure so it will end in the middle of that structure. TNT blows right side away

Thank you @bernersennm and @bryonjames for your posts. Used both strategies for this level. Fun level to play. Scoring after the 2nd bird seems to be based on luck but it is interesting to watch the destruction. Received a few good scores over 110k.

@admins same here as @abeggertoo mentioned in #2. I didn’t select the box for a new strat, despite this the blue line appears

@bernersenn This is not showing as an alternative strategy. Every-other thread has a slightly different hue, which makes reading easier on the eyes. Alt strats are a much deeper blue.

Forgive my ignorance but I haven’t played Rio in some time. What is the significance of the gift wrapped box which appears at the start of every level? And can I make it disappear ? Thanks for any help you can give me

No worries Lesley. The gift boxes appear randomly and include a Power Up inside. For most of us, this is essentially useless — as ABN’s leaderboards don’t permit scores obtained using Power Ups.

No way to disable it, but ignorable. :)

SOooo, @kelani, what kind of ‘unit(s)/’ *allow*/enable POWER-UPS?; e.g., I use a PC – at this point …. & NO PUs available – as far as I know. Are the scores for this ‘episode’ attained by using PUs? Just curious. Clearly, even WITH PUs it’s NOT at all clear that I could come anywhere NEAR ‘catching up’ to you folks :-) !!! Thanks, for your time. AND, THX, everyone – for your comments!

@rldoty Powerups are available on iOS/Android platforms. For us on PC, we get the CTF bird only when it’s actually a part of the bird lineup. On the other platforms, they have an icon where they can use it as a powerup. You can see it in the walkthrough video.

On this level, CTF is only part of the lineup the first time you play it. My concern was that people would get high scores during that attempt, that would be unreachable on future non-CTF attempts. That doesn’t seem to have happened, though. My 115k was without CTF.

For all your help, encouragement & info, THANKS so much, @kelani !!! I don’t recall my exact score when I posed the Q above (Dec 5, ’14 at 7:48 am) – but, w/i several weeks thereafter, I hovered ~ 113+K { forever :-) } … & not until today (6 months from saying Bye to Stevie) did I hit today’s 115,840. THX very much, also, to @bernersenn …. & his strategy. Until I modified the trajectory, slightly, on 1st shot – to wipe out BOTH ‘boxes’ – & (pretty consistently) score ~28+K (vs. 25K) did I *finally* break the 113+K score. It’s a very slight mod; but, for me, NO hope w/o it. Hope it helps others. I intend to post a snap, shortly; i.e., it looks like there is enough debris for me to do better …. EXCEPT that I am miserable at the second shot! :-O … thanks, too, to @kathy & @hunnybunny for their help, excellence and encouragement! Best & Cheers, ALL :-) !!! … Rogue

As I remember, I sent rb into the front structure; left most vertical wood piece that sits on the stone. He should also take out the vertical wood piece that sits on the wood block. (score after 1st bird s/b over 28k). BB just under the first horizontal stone slab and continues on to TNT.

I just blew a 116k score with the same strategy, except instead of taking out the vertical wood piece, you need to take out the wood block below it. This sets up a collapse that gives 26-29k 1st bird scores, which you’ll need….along with time for 2,000 attempts.

my old imac only runs with bluestacks 2 from 2015.
there is also Rio with version 2.6.13
maybe it’s because the newer version isn’t as powerful anymore.

117670 with two birds.

Same strategy as described by @@bird-addict, except that instead of letting Bomb getting to the TNT, I am manually detonating it as soon as it hits the grass. It helps sending stuff to the left and this is where most of the points are.
BTW, a lot more is possible here: I had two instances of almost 219k with 104k and one single marmoset refusing to give up despite the onslaught of debris flying everywhere.

Sometimes, it’s great to be wrong. I’ve been concerned some people would get lucky using the 1st-attempt Call the Flock and get high scores unreachable with Red, but that hasn’t happened. After playing it for hours, (and getting 115k w/Red) I can see why. Its layout is such that CTF’s power isn’t really useful. If Rovio did that intentionally, kudos to them for keeping this can of worms closed.

Nothing any different than Bird Addict posted back in 2014. You do need to have 28K+ after the first shot. And the bomb bird goes through to set off the TNT. It’s a rinse and repeat that requires getting almost everything to blow. I think I had a few 114K scores when I just got an exceptional result.

I’m fairly new to Rio and have only played it recently for the Daily Challenge. I don’t think the top score is achievable for me at the moment. Well not on BlueStacks anyway. I’ve asked @comex666 which platform he is using. I await his reply 😁
