Angry Birds Rio for Mac was updated today and to our surprise there were some “bonus” images contained in the Mac App Store. The images, which are posted below, reveal that the final episode of Angry Birds Rio will be named, “Smugglers’ Plane” and will be set inside Marcel’s plane (for those how haven’t seen Rio Marcel is the boss of the smugglers). We will likely never know if this was a serendipitous slip-up or if these could have been intentionally leaked. Regardless, it’s neat to know what we all have to look forward to. I would expect this update to land in a week or so, but I make no guarantees and have no inside info.

Refers to iOS and Android via Amazon Appstore. The update for Android Market usually comes a week later. Mac/PC (based on history) only receive full episodic updates, so it will likely be a month or more before they see Smuggler’s Plane.
Excellent, have been mind numbingly breaking blocks on normal (on the very slim chance that I haven’t smashed the correct number of blocks already for the 500,000 blocks achievement) it will be good to have an actual level to play again.
I’ve heard that AB Rio is hitting retail as a PC CD-ROM before Christmas, so does it mean that it’s possible that this update may hit the PC version by then? Or do I have to wait until March 2012 for it?

Based on the articles that I’m reading on the web, Rovio might sell the CD-ROM discs at 10 pounds which comes to $15.77

I doubt it. The Mighty Eagle would come to (normal) PC and Mac before the CD-Rom set. Granted, Rovio has not yet released an official press release on the topic yet.

However, since we are speaking hypothetically, it IS possible to have the ME on a CD, just unlikely, you think.

Globe bird would be better, but I think on the rovio homepage second picture you can see a glimpse of green on the right hand side indicating boomerang bird. Globe would be awesome though! :)
Actually if you make the browser window larger (or have a wider screen) you can see the whole green bird. I also find it difficult for orange bird to appear on Rio.
By the way where did you guys hear about the CD-Rom version for PCs? Did I miss some comment about it on ABN?
You can Google search it to see a little information, but Rovio hasn’t released any official statement yet. We don’t want to rock the boat really, so we’re waiting on their details.

The boomerang bird sound effects are in this update, so it’s fair to say that it will likely be part of the last episode.

The ingame_birds_1.png file shows the green boomerang bird, however, ingame_birds_2.png, shows the Mighty Eagle. Which is why I made a comment on the other Rio thread that I was hopeful the ME would come to PC pretty soon.

i have a htc desire hd and i installed angry birds in may, now it says that my phone it’s incompatible with this app and yesterday was ok …..what is happening?
Can’t really say. Per Rovio: “Angry Birds requires Android 1.6 or later to run and some specific Android models are not officially supported. ” You are better off contacting Rovio directly with as many details as possible, including the device and OS number.
Has the achievements shown up for sandbox mode people?

Neither BirdLeader nor I have Sandbox, but we usually hear from a couple members when things show up. Haven’t heard about Rio yet, but maybe soon.
IMO, I would guess that Rovio was actually waiting a little for the Mac v1.3.2 update to land so there didn’t fall too far behind. It is also possible that Rovio is either doing a larger update (30 instead of 15) or that they are getting a jump on the Mac/PC dev.
Also bare in mind that Rovio is working on a new Season, and new episode of ABo, and battling issues with GameCenter (in both ABo and ABS).

No. I think it will be a bit before we see the next episode for ABo. Like I said, there are GameCenter issues that need to be …. I don’t want to say fixed, cuz they aren’t broken … But, “dealt with”.

How i wish the smugglers plane update is next week so i can fight rio marcel,use either the globe birds or the boomerang birds and get the propeller and all the golden mangoes

Very likely since the toucan was part of the movie and that the boomerang sound effects are already part of the game.
So we should be expecting this to come out on Android about 6 months after it comes out on iOS as usual then!

Of the 7 new achievements, only 2 are known: “There and Back Again” for Boomerang, and “Big is Beautiful” for Big Brother.
Also consider “Fruit Salad” and “Multi-millionaire” (whose value will presumably be less than 25M to be realistic), that leaves 5 achievements as question marks.
To play devil’s advocate, Mangoes/Complete/3-star/Score Addict is a typical set….. I don’t know, I’m just spitballing.

It at least looks unlikely. It would have been a bit forced. However it could still potentially be in the final chapter, or hidden, or something else. Again, unlikely, but still nothing definitive.
