Angry Birds Rio Golden Beachball Walkthrough Level #18

Our strategy for Golden Beachball level 18 is to blast the Yellow bird through the floating sand block above the level, dropping the boulder onto the switch below. The switch will trigger the TNT in the middle of the wooden structure, clearing the marmosets there. Arc the Blue bird toward the two remaining marmosets on the right side to finish the level. The score in the video below is 98,850.

The 1st shot can have about a 15,000 point swing to it. From about 43k to about 60k. What I can’t tell is what makes the difference. If the big marmoset goes flying up in the air then you’ll have a good 1st score*. If that whole structure just implodes it won’t score anywhere near as well.

*Assuming you can see the score in the 1st place.

@78rpm, the difference is the explosion’s destructive yield, when the wood blocks hardly move, it’s a weak yield and when the wood blocks, marmosets and just about anything that isn’t tied down disappears off screen, it’s a potent yield. Ciao.

I’ve been trying the moon shot with the yellow bird right out of the sling trying to make contact with the left side of the sand block on the way down. I haven’t had enough angle for a one birder, but have within 250 of the very early high score. This strat might push 110K with extreme luck.

I’m not sure whether 1-birder will be this way, but I came really really close while aiming as shown in video. The boulder went right to take out those marmosets & the yellow bird bounced off the floating sand block & fell down left wards missing the switch to set off TNT by literally a pixel.

@abeggertoo, I just executed your moon shot through the left side of the floating sand block after many many tries and finally got it with 2 birds and 107020 points, (The blue fish survived).

I must confess that it’s an exasperating ordeal getting yellow to come down through the left side of that infernal sand block, and the end result isn’t always satisfactory, especially when the explosion is a weak yield. Thank you for detailing and sharing your wonderful method. Ciao.

Thanks @abeggertoo for the moonshot post and @comex666 for the video. I zoomed in for the first bird to line up the peak of the bird with the half circle line in the sling’s base. Some adjustments are needed to find the right area where the yellow bird will go through the left side of the floating structure above. Second shot split the blues early to get the top monkey and the fish behind it.

Destroying the right glass fish should make a difference also, but so far I haven’t been able to do that.

That is the difference for my score! Got the “don’t know why but big explosion” on the first shot for about 64K, then the blues split so that one undercut the glass/ice below the right hand marmoset and took out the blue fish for the extra 3K bonus. So my secret is: shoot, reset, shoot, reset, swear because the TNT Drop pops up, shoot…..

Don’t wait until the end to split the blue birds, if you split them earlier you should be able to get the glass fish and monkey

I did almost the same as the video. My first bird yielded a little over 59K and chopped up some of the palm tree. For the second bird I sent it a little higher than the video so that when you split the blues, the top one lands on top of the right ape and pushes it down on the fish. I found I scored higher this way rather than undercutting the ice below him ;-)

I kept trying the moon shot but ended up going back to the video way, & did the same as @lesleyg with the blues so the top bird went on top of the marmoset instead of underneath. I just got better destruction on one try for 109k & haven’t come close to that score since :)

@thee-michelle, agree with you. I think without the moonshot you can’t reach a topscore. Still working on it. What I did observe is that after the moonshot the left building has to explode, that means, spread to the left and right – not to the insight. After 1 bird you would have at least 65k, if not, reset. For now I have 103k, and plenty of room for more.

Wow! Just got top score of 111920 using moonshot. Zoomed all the way in for more precise aiming (once you know approximately where to aim, there is no point in seeing what you’re aiming at with moonshot). Managed to get large marmoset into air for lots of destruction (pure luck). Not sure what was different about second shot. This was my first score above 97K. Good Luck all!

Got 108K with the same shots as the video, but in the opposite order. Use the yellow bird to hit the boulder, dropping the boulder on the second marmoset from the right, and having the yellow bird hit the far right marmoset. Then use the blue bird to hit the switch and trigger the TNT.

@amslimfordy only that in Rio on any given page we have star scores at top as well as eagle and trophy ,and as it seems to be these ones that have very mixed scores on his boards ,he may of got mixed up ,when going back through the episodes separating the categories ..thats all
