A surprise Angry Birds Rio update — v1.2.0 — is now available for iOS devices (a big thanks to codebreak for being the first to let us know)! I presume other devices will be updating soon. This update — formerly labeled “July” — wasn’t slated to be released for another few weeks, or so Rovio said on Twitter. We’ve broken down what is included in this update below. Our 3 star and papaya walkthroughs are now live!
Quick update. Carnival Upheaval is now available for US Android users via the Amazon AppStore and is also showing up for Nokia users in the Ovi Store.

Golden Papaya in Carnival Upheaval (Level 7 only; Level 8 coming soon):
1. 7-2: The glass is labeled, but the papaya is in the large box just to the right of it.
2. 7-6: The labeled crate is at the far bottom-right of the level. Plow a path left-to-right and finish off with the White Bird bombing the cardboard boxes.
3. 7-7: Zoom out, way up in the sky, the papaya is hanging from three balloons. Use the Yellow Bird to reach it.
4. 7-8: The labeled crate is at the far bottom-right of the level. Aim your birds so as to knock the stone boulders onto the far-right structure. Best bet: Use the White Bird to demolish most of the last structure. Then use Red Birds to roll the center boulder right and crush the box.
5. 7-10: There is a labeled beach ball sitting on the far right side of the level. Options a-plenty. 1) You can pop it with the stones perched above it. 2) You can roll another beach ball of so it falls on top. 3) You can clear a path and bomb it with the White Bird.
6. 7-14: The labeled crate is at the far bottom-right of the level. Very tough to reach. Use Blu (and the White Birds if you wish) to clear out the top part of the level. Then fire the Yellow Bird nearly straight up. The angle is extremely difficult to get right but keep at it.
7. 7-15: The labeled crate is at the far bottom-right of the level. A little counter-intuitive: I found that aiming across the bottom of the level was easier. Use the first few birds to clear out the front/bottom of the level, then either use the White Bird or a Yellow Bird to destroy the boxes at the far right.
As far as I can tell, that’s all of the papaya in World 7. If someone finds more, please let us know.
I didn’t find anymore either. As for 7-14, I used the yellow bird to get it, took a few tries but it worked…
Got the papaya in 7-14 by bouncing the yellow bird off of the rubber on the top right of the platform.
Got it with blue after about 5 tries. launch him up at ~45 deg so he lands in the top most feathers. with luck his flailing will knock some wood over the rubber-egg thing & onto the crate, needs 2 pieces to fall & hit the crate to get the fruit
so wait, we got this, AND an original AB update any moment now as well???

Truthfully speaking, I’m not impressed with the new bird (Blu) and his new trick. It’s almost as useless as the green boomerang bird. I can’t even understand how it works and I’m stuck on Level 1. *grumbles*
When you get close (or even very shortly after hitting an object) tap and Blu will flail. I believe the backstory is the Blu can’t actually fly. It’s mildly destructive if you position him well, at least against wood.
Actually, do you not have to tap after hitting an object, it will flail once it hit an object :-)
I find the new blue bird can be very destructive when aimed between two tall structures. His flailing then knocks things down on both sides.
I agree. There are a couple levels where he does a lot of damage.
The only catch of this ‘surprise update’ is that; instead of receiving the full episode of 30 levels, we only get to play half, while the other 15 levels will be released this July.

Originally, the next rio update wasn’t slated until July but we obviously got this one early so I think it’s safe to say that all bets are off regarding the original release schedule.
O I hope it comes out soon. They should just do it like they have been. Each month come out with a full update. Not half one month then half the next. That’s crazy talk for all of us angry bird addicts!

I just knew it was a good idea to install the Amazon Appstore.
On the (admittedly slight) downside, I’d hoped to be done with getting all the stars in all the other levels in all three games before a new update showed up, but it looks like I’m still playing catch-up. What a rough problem to have, eh…?
On the upside, it sure looks like that there are more marmosets to destroy…
The best part about this update is the green pig balloons.

I can’t open Rio since I got the update. Gets to “loading” then crashes :( I have an iPod touch. How can I fix this? Is it only me?

I downloaded the update to my iPhone4 and it downloaded fine, but when I go to play, the Carnival icon has a lock on it and it won’t let me play. Has anyone else experienced this?

lol, I know.. I was one of the first to play beach volley and I was #2 for a brief time. But reality set in soon and I was back to 40.
I’m #6 right now and have yet to 3 star the levels.
I’ve only got 3 stars on 5 of the levels. I might be up all night…time to get the red bull out. Haha.

I love the pig balloons. It adds a nice touch of the original Angry Birds to Angry Birds Rio. (^(00)^)
And, if you pop them (not just release them) you get 5,000 points! That’s a nice way to increase your score.

got the final fruit (didn’t notice the beach ball). Didn’t unlock any of the mystery achievements though.
We think the two secret achievements are Fruit Salad (one of all six fruit) and Multi-Millionaire (25M pts total)

Check out the walkthrough here. Basically the yellow bird needs to be pulled down (vertical) as far as possible while still getting full power. As soon as you launch him tap so he “turbos” and it will land right on it. May take a couple of tries but it worked great for me.
O no I cold not do it that way, I tried over and over, I kept either hitting the rubber and it would go flying back towards me, or it would go just past the box. Made me very angry really lol
Yellow bird got the fruit on 7-14. Fire him almost straight up. One good arch and you break the crate.

Oh nice surprise. I was too busy playing inFAMOUS 2 and watching E3 to notice this came out yesterday@ So is this the June update they were talking about? I thought it would be a Seasons update but I’m still happy for new Angry Birds!
We are still expecting an original Angry Birds update any day now, and probably Seasons update later in the month.
why only 15 levels ??? are the next levels coming this month ???
what were the months for the different worlds before the update ???
Originally, it was May, July, October, November. So these 15 levels were actually ahead of schedule.
Seeing as we had absolutely no idea that this update was coming, I suppose the rest of Carnival will come in July some time (that would be “on-schedule”).
I can’t watch any video now, they are all just black, no play button. :(

If they aren’t showing (should be 43 total now), perhaps restart your device.

Angry Birds Update 1.5.2 out for PC and Angry Birds Rio update 1.1.1 available for PC now!
Unfortunately, as far as we can tell there is nothing new in these versions.
AB v1.5.2 and Rio v1.1.1 were both bug fixes with respect to the registration errors (people buying and entering registration codes that failed to work).
So do you think this means the next few level packs will be out earlier? Say, August or September instead of October or November? And when’s Episode 6 coming anyway?
This update (v1.2.0) was only half of the “July” episode.
So maybe they’ll release half of the October one in September, and so on? Spread it out a little?

I highly doubt that there will be a Rio 2 but there might be more movies that the Angry Birds will work it way into. :)
The next 2 worlds are the end. Bleu and Jewel and the rest might be on an airplane but the last world will be the final. A big boss battle with Nigel.
