Angry Birds Rio Blossom River Star Bonus Walkthrough Level 1

This is our walkthrough video for Angry Birds Rio Blossom River Star Bonus Level #1. The level is unlocked by earning 30 stars in Blossom River. One strategy is to fling red at a high arch into the far right TNT. With some lucky bounces you should be able to finish off the level. The score in the video below is 97,980.

@mvnla2 – Be more lucky would pretty much cover it. One of the life rings got caught up in the top part and I think that is where the added points came from, though I did not do anything special to get it there.

On both my two attempt a life ring got caught in the top part. Other times it has been a bird that hits the release button or whatever it is. Thanks for the quick reply.

Well, I just nabbed #2 on my second try today, and I have no clue what the difference was between the two times, but the first gave 110K. Both times the bird just barely missed the white arch and clipped the left edge of the right TNT. The rest was somewhat different, but no idea why the score was so different.

I found a (relatively) repeatable strategy for this level. It’s inspired by @mvnla2 ‘s strategy. I’ve yet to pull off a 1-birder with it, but the points are in line with @jonixse ‘s 120k score; i.e. 60-72k w/4 birds and 2 marmosets left.

When the level starts, aim RB by placing the pouch of the sling (under Red’s belly) directly over the top left corner of the steel/wood box under the sling.

Now watch the rightmost pendulum. When the life ring “bob” reaches the rightmost limit of its swing, fire RB as soon as you see the bob start falling into its leftward swing.

What I want is for RB to bounce off the white spiral arm dead center above the second semicircular piece of rope. (it’s the one with the inverted L-shaped wood passing through it) Then, he nicks the left side of the TNT platform, and cuts the rope holding the pendulum. Falling bird or debris will dislodge the TNT below and then all hell breaks loose.

I frequently see everything taken out with this shot, except the left floating marmoset. No real reason he lives other than I need to fling more.

@mvnla2– Last night I was playing Blossom River in Rio,& came to Blossom River Star #1. On my third reset,as everything was just starting to move,the “gate/life preserver” on the right side opened & shot out one of the discs.It only happened once,but I took a screenshot. In it you can see that no birds have been used,the gate is open,& a disc is missing.This gave 4700 points.
I was on my Thrive tablet at the time. I apologize for the audio bar across the top of pic.The volume has to be all the way up to get a screen capture.

@meanguy — Thanks! Since BR was the site of a very intense competition a month ago, I can’t imagine anyone else has seen it. Is Thrive Android? Could be very rare or device specific.
@kelani @rat9 @bernersenn @fenikus??? My apologies to the rest that were in the battle, I didn’t check out the leaderboard to see who came out at the top. Time to keep my foot out of my mouth.

@bernersenn — Might have been before you started playing BR, but there were well documented exploding dolphins in some BR levels that only occurred on Androids. Sounds like this is pretty rare even on Android, so it could happen on other platforms. Care to try several hundred restarts. : D

@mvnla2 I know I never saw anything like this. It’s pretty neat, but how amazing would it have been if he’s gotten a 0-birder from that? :D

@bernersenn Common sense says OS doesn’t matter. I also believed that, but remember BR-20? old ipads and/or old iOS versions could get the big marmosets to kill themselves, repeatedly. The last time I checked, no iOS6-7 devices or any other platforms were able to replicate that. So, now I believe strange things can happen on one platform :)

@kelani– I’m not sure when Toshiba started selling the Thrive. I’ve had mine since about Oct.2011 & since then it’s had several operating system updates. Mine is current to the ‘Jellybean’ update. There is a newer update- ics (ice cream sandwich) for the tablets that came after the Thrive. There are Thrive forums where people claim that Toshiba has forsaken Thrive owners because updates were few & far between. Jellybean had been out for over a year before I got it. Ever since that update,the Thrive sometimes seems to have a mind of its’ own. I’m not sure if that’s the cause of the AB weirdness I sometimes experience.(I’ve had other things happen on my Dell pc)

Thanks @comex666 for the video and strategy. Shooting the bird immediately and cutting the string were the keys to the higher scores. Most of the destruction appears to be luck but starting this way seemed to produce better results. Just a fun level to play, couldn’t stop flinging.

Aha — after following you, @comex666, through a multitude of challenges – I just got the right bounce; actually about eleven thousand (I counted?) and have won “A Puppy” to show @sweetp. This also adds new levels of patience for those still stretching out those flings.
Even though this particular little episode 98.7% luck, with 1.3 for strategy and skill, that little icon will look the same. That is if it holds through the end time!

So this is a fun level. Hopefully it won’t take forever to get above average but watching the rings bounce around is oddly satisfying. lol

I will say this, though, the fact that you don’t get any points for the bird bouncing around leaves me to wonder where all the extra points are coming from. I’ve cleared everything on the level (except for bumpers and rings) and haven’t managed to break 100K yet.
