Angry Birds Rio Airfield Chase Walkthrough Level 4 (9-4)

Our strategy for Airfield Chase level 9-4 is to lob the first Black bird to land just right of the first tower. Repeat the shot with the second Black bird, perhaps aiming a little more right. This should clear the left side of the level and destroy some of the suitcases in the trough. Use the remaining Black birds as necessary on the far-right structure. The score in the video below is 123,580.

136,710, different method, same concept.

For this level, it’s best to use your bombs instead of saving them as each can do more than 10k in damage. That said, I Only used 3 birds. If Rio had the Mighty Eagle, there would be some extra time after all cages are destroyed to use the last bomb. As it stands, though by the time you use the 4th bird, the level usually ends before the blocks stop falling, preventing further point accrual.

Bird 1… Straight into 1st structure. Aim for the 2 blocks below the spotlight. This should clear the way for Bird 2.
Bird 2… Basically the same shot. You’d like it to cut through the debris and land at least as low as the 2nd stone triangle on the cliff (of the first structure)…
… At this point, most of structure 1 should be gone and either of the birds can and should have taken out the suitcases in the riven, as well as made the front scaffolding of tower 2 fall leftward … Just like in the video.
Bird 3… Same as video, OR, if you’ve been lucky enough to take out a nice big chunk of the 2nd structure, the aim third bird wherever it will cause most damage.
Bird 4… Can pretty much demolish the rest of the 2nd structure, but the level may end before the debris has a chance to fall… So its risky to shoot it. If you shoot it, you lose 10k, but can get more if the debris falls fast enough so the points are counted before the level ends.

135+ without using bird 4
125+ using bird 4, unless there is a way to prevent the level from ending that I don’t know about.

@loox thank you for the tips. I have improved 22k on this level!
One thing that helped me was to make sure the first bird stays low, like you said. I was having a problem with the wooden triangle falling straight down and blocking the second bird from penetrating far enough into the stone layers. I finally figured out that letting the first bomb bird self detonate allowed the wooden structure to fall more to the left (out of my way). That lets the second bird nestle down in and do more damage. Hope this helps someone :). Thanks again, loox!

Hey @wanda, how are you? I agree, I’ve been aiming for the bottom left corner of the metal frame so the bomb sort of rolls in & nestles right up against the stone blocks before detonating on it’s own. The wooden roof on the far structure can do the same, if you can let the 3rd bomb go on its own as well the roof may fall left. More often than not I found it blocked the 4th shot for all those valuable debris points. Nice score!

@karen68, hi! I like it when the thick stone falls to the left of the first bird, so he stays nice and snug before kablooey! I agree the third shot has to fall just right. If all goes well, bird no. 4 slides right down the slope and the points tabulate quickly. I hate when the level ends too soon.

if the wooden structure blocks the low shot, try a lob like bird #1 in Bird Leader’s video. I went from high 120s to a 149 in about 20 min. unfortunately my thumb instinctively went to the reset before I could stop it, wasn’t expecting the last bit that fell, so my highest registered score is a “disappointing” 142.9. i’ll get it back after a sandwich.

Thanks @loox for the strategy and @comex666 for the video. Did the same as all the other flingers by going from left to right with all four black birds. Got lucky with the second bird which was manually activated to produce good destruction.

150090 – 4 birds

Bird one on the left-most, bottom block under the lamp.

Bird two has to get where the left red cage is. The whole left should be gone and a lot of debris falls into the middle hole.

Bird 3 hits the purple cage to the right of the hole.

By now the level is beat, but you have to shoot your last bird quickly. I got it to land on the square with the triangular block near the far right. Pretty much everything was destroyed.

… make that 153880. Bird 2 destroyed the purple cage as well and I had two clear shots to destroy everything in the back.

Aim a bit further to the right with the first bird. Aim low so the 2nd bird hits the tower still standing. Bomb the right side. Remember, always destroy the suitcases.

Awesome video as usual @misterparon. The key to a really high score is that 4th shot, he gets the bomb all the way down the far slope to the base of what remains of the far structure. I’m usually in such a hurry to fling it before the level times out that I never aim it quite right.

hi @mvnla2 ,I am probably not telling u anything u have not tried ,but will tell u what helped me from watching @misterparens video ,which is a piece of art :) . Make notes of the score after each of his shots for a reference for starters,..with the first bird I usually let it self detonate as this let’s the top start to fall left so after explosion u are not left with wood impeding next shot ,then make sure u are not zoomed out at all for last 2shots and have last shot ready to go ,and watch very close ,as sometimes it does not have to be rushed if by chance a cage is still left after third bird ,but that is rare,so when I watched the vid It gives a good idea of time left after last cage goes to level count stops ,and that last bird has to be placed perfectly ,u really need a great fall with last shot ,and it took a long time before I went from 148k to getting high 150,s with what seemed very little difference in shots ,hope u can squeeze abit more out of it and good luck

I just scored 166,440 points by using the strategy first posted by @loox nearly 10 years ago.
