Quasi-Boss fight! Our strategy for Airfield Chase level 10-15 is to loft the Red bird onto the top of the plane, breaking both cages there. Next, fire the Blue bird below the ramp to break all three dangling cages. Launch the Yellow bird through the chain hanging from the tail and into the bay of the plane. The score in the video below is 56,700.

Though I used the first red one to hit those 3 cages below the plan and the blue one got the top 2 cages; finally the yellow went straight to hit the one at the tail and inside the plane. thanks.
This gets you in mid-50’s every time. Need 2 bird solution to get 60’s.
How about the apple on the right wing?
There are video walkthroughs for all apples.
66,500 – Used 1st red bird to take out 3 cages under plane ramp. Use blue bird (split about half way between slingshot and plane tail)… takes out cages on top, bird hanging on tail and birds inside plane. 3 bonus birds.

I started the level, let it run without doing anything for a while (I was doing other stuff during this time) and somehow the two bigger cages on the bottom of the plane managed to break.
As you need 3 unused birds to get 60k+, use the first 2 red & blue birds to knock-out all the cages except the bottom 2 big cages. Then let the plane to run it’s course (about 5 mins) and eventually the 2 cages break by themselves. Earn the extra 30k LOL

Thanks Joe. It took 8 minutes for mine to crash. I almost gave up but it was well worth the wait to see that yellow colored blast break the chain in the middle without any warning. Got 66,690.

So I tried this today for the past 20 minutes, but nothing has changed. But periodically my ipad mini goes dark so I have to touch it to keep it going. Was there a bug in the game that has since been modified to prevent things from breaking up?

Thanks, Marc! BTW, it wasn’t your score that was being questioned previously (read comments in the thread you link to). Someone else posted a very high score, having posted no other scores in Rio. I was not questioning your score at all!

I need a strategy for this game. I just can’t seem to get there. I have a 56,800, but I can’t top that.

First shot is to wait until the plane moves close to the slingshot and fire through the first cage and into the planes cargo bed to get the cage inside.

That forum went private. You will have to contact one of the admins for an invitation — or politely ask Marc to post his process here as well. The general theme of the process was to sit-and-wait. A majority of the level will destroy itself over the course of an hour or so.
AMslimfordy-Very sorry about that, I had no idea that would happen. Why this forum has taken this route is beyond me and quite frankly I don’t like it. The strategy is terribly long and I’m not sure if the images will appear here, I’ll try one photo and go from there.

I understand the criticism, but when it’s the only score that someone enters, it actually is suspicious. Also, I’m pretty sure it wasn’t marc being questioned. The post says that the user in question had only entered 1 score. marc has every level entered. Users who post that many scores don’t have them removed willy-nilly. We usually contact them if there is something truly questionable.
You are correct. It was not Marc’s score that was being questioned in any way. I think maybe someone misread the thread as far as what post was flagged.
It’s happened here before where someone comes in and posts ridiculous scores; they are flagged and moderators take care of removing them when appropriate.
I meant no offense to anyone, but I found the original entry (NOT Marc’s score) suspicious.

So, I finally succeeded (partially) in using Marc’s method…and then iTunes wanted to upload game center. After 45 minutes, progress gone. will try again though!
…that should have read “a game center upload.” Frustrating. This iPad is new to me. the iPhone was easier, but the iPad is easier on this 52 year old woman’s eyes!
Here is an easier way to get 67K in a reasonable time (usually less than 5 min).
1. Send the red bird up so it falls in an arc and takes the purple bird cage and the yellow bird cage hanging down.
2. Blue birds should take the cage inside and both cages on top of the plane (this is a bit trickier but not very difficult either).
3. Wait until two lower cages fall by themselves ( takes about 3 minutes on average).
I have repeated this many times, with the highest score so far 67380.
I used this method and got 67,170. Thanks for the help!

10-15, 77020.. 1 shot strategy..
Allow the plane to approach the sling, say 13-15 seconds worth. The Red bird must take out the dangling chained Purple bird, the caged Passenger bird inside the fuselage *and* roll down the ramp snapping the green cord that’s attached to the caged Yellow bird all in one go. This is the “must do” shot for success or, try again.
After 10 minutes (approx.) the lower two bird cages under the ramp will “magically” break free and fall.
After 30-45 minutes (approx.) the upper right side bird cage will “magically” break free and fall leaving only the last caged Blue bird.
After 70-90 minutes (approx.) the plane will start pitching, pointing its’ nose erratically skyward. Finally, a cargo box will “magically” appear from the top of the now pitched plane’s fuselage that takes out the last caged Blue bird. Ouch (!) worth witnessing, its a “magical” AB moment to cherish.
Score plus 40,000 bonus points..
For an “easier” 2 shot strategy of approx. 66-67k..
1 shot – Red bird must take out the dangling chained purple bird and roll down the ramp snapping the green cord that’s attached to the yellow bird’s cage to free it.
2 shot – Blue bird spread to take out the caged bird inside the fuselage.
Then, same as the above, watch, wait 70-90 minutes (approx.) and giggle.
Score plus 30,000 bonus points..

Anyone interested @mvnla2 ? Marc strat still works, I hadn’t the patience for5 the 0 birder but the 2 bird strat still works took some time still but eventually the cages do magically disappear :)

There actually is a 0-bird solution here. So connect your iphone to a charger, just wait several hours and pray for luck or whatever happy ending depends on…

didnt work for me, tried 3 times over many hoirs and once the plane disappeared after crashing but the game hang itself up :( several hours wasted :(
best tip is to leave your device plugged in over night and leave the level running – that way you’re not wasting time, and it can still work. LOTS of luck needed though! GL :)
It’s all about patience.
It took me ~80 attempts (~2-3 per day in 33 days) to achieve a good score here…
If anybody is wondering, the zero-bird method still works. Twice I got scores in the low 70s with the plane crashing and all caged birds gone. For my current score of 76,930, the plane crashed with the chase mobile jammed up to the plane’s tail gate, but there was still a caged bird inside, which I set free with the first bird. As suggested above, I leave my iPad running before going to bed.
10 attempts later, 86k. Yep, it still works!
Confirmed that it still works now in October 2013, on iPad and iOS 7 (not sure if that matters). Got 76K on the first try leaving the level running overnight…well, that part might be due to my mad shooting skills ;)
10-15, 82030.. 0 shot strategy!

Marc, there seems to be absolutely no reason why it works sometimes and it doesn’t others – mine worked 1st time I left, I’ve heard others say they’ve tried many many times and still not achieved it, so I have no idea why it works sometimes and not others. I’ve also not seen anyone else achieve the full 85k plus yet – no idea how I got that as unfortunately I was asleep at the time :( (not that I’m complaining as my score still stands!) but I’ll keep trying to replicate it, and I’m sure many others will as well now!
Oh and by the way, how long did yours take?

86870 happy now. I noticed that the purple cage broke somehow shortly after the two top cages. Maybe this is a sign that things are going good. Took 4-5 tries before I finally got the good 0 birder.

I’m patiently waiting for all my cages to bust, wondering what exactly will hit the bird sitting in the airplane. Purple, yellow, and airplane bird still staring at me, daring me to restart the level and try again.
Frustrated, after several days (and attempts) letting this level run at my office while I worked (and, of course, peeked). Frustrating.
So, is this the point at which I re-start the level?

And thanks, Manu. I’ve had the upside down plane, the plane on its side, etc. This ending was a first. I have it running again, and depending on how late I say up will likely try again. Had to remember to take my charger to work. :-)
Okay, I promise I am not spamming the board, but I seem to remember that Manu posted (and I didn’t look again for the post) that when the purple went soon after the bottom ones, it seemed to be more successful. I now have yellow at bottom and single blue on top. Single blue just went. Now will wait.
Am wondering if Manu was on to something with the sequence of events. If so, kudos. If not, kudos anyway!
Don’t know how, but finally happened. Level had completed twice before with lower scores with no birds than I previously had. Today, success. Manu was right, this was really hard. ;-) (Actually, not so easy…luck of the dice I guess!)

I decided to try the ‘no bird approach’ and started the level before I went to bed. When I checked it before sleeping, I had 15960 points with four cages and five birds left, which if cleared, would add another 70,000 points. When I woke up the level had cleared with a total of 71210 points. A mystery.
Although I haven’t seen this directly to back up my theory, but I think that the stray points that you can get on this level (e.g. the 1210 “stray” point that you have that would be in addition to the points for the remaining birds and the destroyed bird cages) result from boxes hitting the red bird that is sitting in the slignshot — I’m guessing the game registers any contact between that bird and a box as a scorable hit. Again, just a hunch….
But if the game had cleared without any birds used then all the crates must have been destroyed, so why wasn’t the total (of my overnight experiment) 85960?
If a cage manages to go left of the slingshot “platform” in this level, you don’t get the points for breaking it.
I wondered about that, but I’m not sure that it always the case. For instance during one of the ‘no block’ phases, my score increased so I wonder if it is the ropes holding the cages on that break very slightly – that would also help to explain why they destroy themselves.
So does the plane have to tumble to get the inside cage to break or will that cage break from some other means (ie falling crates)?
Hi Frozndevil..the 2 times that I have got the 81… it happened within 4 hours and it hit had to hit the trailing Bird mobile..have not yet got the 86+ yet though
Same here. Both times I got a 80k+ score, the bird mobile was almost parked on the plane’s tail gate, but that is still not a guaranteed 0-birder. On one attempt the inside caged bird was still there and required one bird to set it free, otherwise it would have been 86k.
Fluke 87,250. Went to bed with is playing on the charger… (Would be nice to make a top score via skills)

I really hate this level. I have around 57,000 points. After reading this I’m going to try the 0 bird solution. Here goes…..
My plane disappeared after about 2 hours!!!!
So let me get this straight, you left your device for 2 hours and the plane disappeared? Did it free all birds with it?
In two of my four attempts, the plane flys off screen and presumably crashes. All caged birds were set free, but the scores were in the low 70s.
I just had the plane flip over and end up behind the trailing van, level kept playing with boxes appearing out of nowhere. Score was at 26k with no birds fired, but it never counted up the unused birds. Time to try again.
Zero bird solution still works. Just upped my score to 86920. What I want to know is who decided to try this stat to begin with?
the zero bird strategy works. you just need to wait 3 hours (in my case) or more and you get 85k+ points. it is a bit frustating cause I missed the moment the plane crashed.

Well I let mine run for 2 hours and it was up to 26500 with two birds left. The bottom yellow one and the birdcage inside the plane. If the plane had cooperated I would have ended up with 86500, however, the plane did the “nose up” and was flying crazy while the bottom of the plane was scrapping the bottom of the pavement, lol. Meanwhile the yellow bird banged around. Then it took a nose dive and finally leveled out but the plane was too far to the right so the falling boxes were not hitting the plane directly anymore so I threw in red bird and got the bottom yellow bird. Then I threw in the blues and split late and somehow one of them got the birdcage inside the plane. Two very well, lucky placed shots. So atleast I have above average and will run it again over night perhaps.

After almost giving up I finally beat the average score for this level. I play RIO on a PC and saw no evidence of the plane crashing/dipping to take out the undercarriage cages – and yes, I did wait for over 5 minutes. I used gille10’s method (see above). It took many goes to get it. I’d be interested to know if the 0-birder is still possible or if maybe the last update changed it. If you get time @bonneypattycat, could you please see if it does still do it. I can’t do it on the PC cos it keeps going to screensaver/pausing My RIO version/update is v1.7.0 – is yours the same version?

self-destruction still present as of april 2nd 2016. I left it running overnight and woke up to 76k.
Trying the 0 birder on 10/18/16. I’ll let you know if it still works…
Four of the bird cages “self destructed” within 20 to 25 minutes of starting. They were the two hanging from chains below the ramp, the purple bird hanging from the tail and the large cage on top, in that order. My score at that point was 21240. Nothing else happened in the next half hour to 40 minutes, so I put the phone on the charger and went to bed. By morning the game was still grinding away at 21240 points. I reset the game and will try again.
One note: none of the crates EVER impacted red while he was in the sling, so I think the theory that the randomly accrued points are not due to this. In fact, in my second round, the small points seem to be adding up in the same pattern. First 40 points, then another 10 (50 total), then another 50 (100 total).
I will definitely report back when I achieve the 0 birder so that you know its still possible. However, I think that the 0 birder will always be there for this level. In previous posts ABN members were reporting the plane crashing and ending downside up, on its side, behind the launch vehicle and flying off the screen altogether. Someone at Rovio had to program those things into it. They don’t happen by a glitch. I think that the 0 birder is more of an Easter Egg that we were meant to find.
