Angry Birds is now available via Intel AppUp Center for Windows XP, Windows 7, and Moblin (mobile Linux) based netbooks, laptops, and PCs (note, it’s not really meant for PCs, but you can run it — I am just fine).
It’s out on the Mac now as well!
The cost will be $9.99/£5.99/€7.99, but for a limited time it is $4.99.
If you meet the above qualifications here is what you need to do to get started:
- Download the Intel AppUp application here (top right).
- Install and open the app.
- Search for Angry Birds.
- Click, “Buy App” (I had to do this several times to get it to work).
- You now have to sign in or create an account.
- Once you have an account click “Buy App” again and agree to the charge (note, you haven’t entered your credit card info yet).
- After you agree the payment screen will come up. If you don’t already have a credit card stored click the link at the top. That will open a browser where you can enter a credit card.
- After you submit your CC info you’ll see a “Thank You” screen, which you can close
- You now have to click, “Buy App” again and “Confirm” your purchase.
- Now Angry Birds should begin downloading.
- Once it’s done downloading an installer will automatically launch and install Angry Birds.
- You can now “Launch” Angry Birds from within AppUp or look for an icon on your desktop!
A few other things you should consider:
- Once you finally get Angry Birds installed it looks and plays very well — at least it does on my Windows 7 PC. It’s sweet to see it running on my 1680 x 1050 monitor! That said, it would be cool if there were a way to run it in a window, as opposed to running fullscreen 100% of the time. Also, I’m
not quite surehow to zoom out to see the whole level, but that’s okay for now (thanks to Brandon who pointed out that you can use your scroll wheel to zoom in and out).
- Per the AppUp Center FAQ you don’t have to have an Intel Atom based processor to install AppUp.
- My initial experience with AppUp was cumbersome: long loading times (this could be caused by the heavy load AB is causing on the servers), lots of steps to purchase the app, and multiple clicks to get stuff to load. If I didn’t run this site I would have gave up. I hope others have a better experience.
- As far as I can tell there is no logout option within AppUp. I had a hard time logging in, so I actually had to email AppUp support to get my account working so I could login.

We updated everything and it still comes up with (Texture is too large: 2048 x 2048, maximum supported size: 1024 x 1024.)
I also tried what you suggested in an earlier comment,(config.lua file (C:\Program Files\Rovio\Angry Birds or C:\Program Files (x86)fullscreen” to “false” but that stuff up her Sims 3, so we restored back to the updates.
I will buy the game again on her computer and see if that works, I will let you know.

Nop, buying the game for her computer didn’t work either, so I cancelled the order.
I don’t understand why it will work on one computer and not the other, maybe it’s one per family thing, I might try our lap top.
If that don’t work I will just have to wait until Rovio replys.

Bummer. Glad you canceled. If you’re getting the canvas error then I highly doubt it’s related to some weird — and probably non-existent — restriction by Rovio. You said you tried downloading an updated graphics driver from Windows Update? Did you do it this way? Launch Windows Update from the Start menu. Once it’s open click “Optional” on the left hand side navigation. At the top check to see if there is a graphics driver listed. If so, download and install it.
easy solution, just get to the device manager page, right click on display adaptor and upgrade driver. takes a few minutes then it should work ok.see below for windows 7.
click Windows/ start icon at bottom left.
right click computer.
click manage.
click device manager.
click display adaptor.
click on adaptor.
click driver.
update.

after i read the comment that you post to other of the problem of:

I chng fullscreen= true
to fullscreen= false
but it doesn’t help.

that is for 64 bit…mine is 32 bit only…

Windows Update should allow you to download a compatible driver for your system, regardless if it it’s 32 or 64 bit. Launch Windows Update an then click “Optional” to see if there is a graphics driver listed. If so, download and install it.
Intel Graphics chip actually funny enough has graphical errors on this intel AppUp game. nVidia works better. I’ve seen this game mess up on multiple latops running the latest and old intel graphics drivers, but it always works fine on desktops with ATI or nVidia graphics cards.
Updated my Nvidia drivers to the latest version and nothing. I can run cutting edge graphics on my PC but not this. Crazy.

While searching,none of the solutions worked, until I found 1 remark. I thought I would try it and it worked! I love Angry Birds!
It might sound weird, but I installed itunes for PC, and after that it works! It might have something to do with the Quicktime it installs while installing itunes. I dont know. But it works! I hope it will work for you too.

I have also found that it still works after removing Quicktime!!
Angry Birds works on my laptops after running iTunesSetup which also installs Quicktime.
I find that it still works after uninstalling iTunes (I use free Revo Uninstaller) but leaving Quicktime installed.

I do not have iTunes or any version of quicktime on my Win7-32bit nVidia 9500 GT PCI-E and the game works fine. I had to go into compatibility mode and turn on “Run as Administrator” and it works great. Sometimes the files are set to “Read only” That causes serious issues.
1. Run as admin
2. Make sure no files are set to “Read only”
3. Intel Graphics – plan for problems
4. Buy a decent computer. Cheapo $400 laptops aren’t going to cut it.

Try launching in windowed mode and also update your graphics drivers through Windows Update. When all else fails email [email protected] or post in our forum.

Same issue with the “texture too large” on an Acer Aspire One, but it runs quite well
on my home-built games monster at home.
I only bought it for a fun little on the road dealio.
Tried the LUA edit before finding this site, as I am familiar with them from other
games, no help.
Will look into updating drivers, but they are not that old, and I only recently

The “texture too large” issue is definiately a hardware compatability issue. I have several machines. Angry Birds works on the Nvidia no issues but will not work on any of the ATI Radeon machines. All machines are running Windows 7 x64 fully patched.

It runs great on my home gaming tower with nVidia and W7x64, but is now running well on
the Acer Mini with an Intel video chipset. An upgrade of video drivers did the trick!
I can run the game and play it, but everything is white/tinted blue so I can’t see what I’m clicking.

I have made it through the first 2 levels fairly quick and now on the 3rd level I’m locked out. I even went back to the first 42 games and got 3 stars thinking maybe that was a requirement to advance but that didn’t work. Any suggestions?

Read through the comments here. Update graphic drivers via Windows Update and try tweaking the config.lua as suggested in some of the previous comments. Good luck.

I don’t believe seasons is out for pc/mac yet. It could be at some point but at this time we haven’t heard a specific date. So right now you’ll need a smart phone or tablet of some sort.

I don’t believe that Angry Birds Rio was officially released on the PC, so that could be your problem.
