The best strategy for Mighty Hoax level 5-19 is to arc a Yellow bird through the middle support of the tower next to the rocket ship. Loft the White bird and bomb the TNT under the rocket. 3… 2… 1… Blast off! The score in the video below is 121,660.
For a 1-birder: crash the yellow bird into the rocket (without hitting the wood). You have to be a little patient, since it won’t always work, but it’s not that hard.
well what you know … used your very repeatable method and improved my score by 16k. ty
easy to achieve
I like this level, but I’m having a hard time with the 1 bird method. I can repeat my score using two. What part of the rocket are you hitting?
I doubt the player knows where the rocket is being hit. He/She got a lucky hit, and moved one I’m guessing.
I can’t get a 1 shot clear either by ‘smashing’ the YB in the rocket ‘without hitting wood’. Schools need to teach a lot more descriptive phrasing again.
I’ve done this level with one bird twice in the last ten minutes. First was to aim pretty much straight up, and pull the trigger on the YB as it leaves the sling. A lucky shot came down, hit the rocket and caromed into the wooden block breaking it and the YB hit the TNT. Score 121200.
The second was (maybe) as described by vaporizer. Again hit the rocket and the YB didn’t bounce back to the wood, or lay down on rocket parts falling, but dropped down to the wood block, breaking it and hitting the TNT. Score was only 117600.
OMG!! I didn’t really understand what you all were saying but I kept trying it anyways then BAM!!! It totally worked and Yb just dropped into TNT and just like that it’s over!!! Thanks Bill I think once again it was how you broke it down that helped me to achieve it!
Great strat Bill! 1-bird clear with 138350 :)
@Kimmiecv a.little help here if you can..? I shoot the Moon straight up like bill says ..just come down in that wooden tower every time..do you remember an aiming Point..like where is it supposed to land?
@Kathy it looks like you got it? Nice score!! :)
Sorry for not being clear enough, but it’s just like haddock5 describes below.
Hit the top part of the rocket slightly above the launching pad, and here is the tricky part, let one of the stone blocks from the middle part of the rocket fall down and smash the wooden block at the base. Now your yellow bird needs to fall down that small hole. 136750
Of course it should be …slightly above the launching tower. My fingers decieved me.
Actually I have most succes flying just over the left wooden part of the launching tower hitting the upper right wooden part of the launching tower. The trajectory makes it obvious for the bird to deflect down instead of up since you’ll hit a vertical concrete plank instead of a diagonal.
@z0z0 Thank you for the description of your technique. This one seemed to work the best because of the natural trajectory of the yellow bird. Interesting that the left towers were still falling and the score counter stopped. But still improved by 9k. I will take it!!!
Also found that on line up of the first YB launch that if the tip of the bird just touches the base of the sling (zoom in) the bird goes straight up and arcs into the gap between the rocket and wood launching pad. Have to activate upon launch. This technique is similiar to Bill’s post above. This technique was fun.
@wrw01 you’re welcome.
Often it’s the little things that can change the luck for you. Too bad the last pig died too soon since you didn’t get all the debris damage counted in.
It’s fun to replay this level :-)
Thanks @z0z0 I still have not one birded, but with your suggestion, I have increased my score by 8,000. I will keep at it.
If yellow rips down the side off the rocket fast enough, it can blast through the small wood block and straight to the TNT.
OMG!! @haddock5 your description of where to aim yb was very helpful. I did get lucky and yb actually hit the wood block first, damaging it, then bounced off to the left on the wood pieces of the now flattened launch pad. It slowly rolled off to the right and broke through the wood block and detonated the tnt! That was fun watching everything blow up to smithereens for an awesome score!
I tried hitting both the wooden structure at the top right and just hitting the top of the rocket. I had success with both strategies. I suspect that more points might be earned by quickly targeting the white bird at the left tower before the level ends, but this is something I will need to do another day.
Thanks @vaporizer, took a little time but finally worked
thanks for strat Vaporizer. 141k
Thanks @vaporizer I improved 7.5k :). It only took about 20 tries, and of course, I wasn’t watching when I finally hit the sweet spot. I thought I had flubbed the shot and was just about to reset the level when I saw the bonus points racking up. Nice strategy!
142,150 using your one bird strategy. Thanks
Was about to say this no longer works in AB Classic but I just did it. And got a worse score, only 117k.
This is my favorite level! Once I 3-starred it, I just played it over and over again.
138190(will go higher) similar as described by haddock5. BUT! it was a lucky roll of the YB into the gap left above the TNT. My hit on the rocket was right at the intersection of the left top vertical and left top angular grey pieces. This is one of those ‘lucky’ methods. The only ‘one bird’ skill is getting the YB to hit the rocket right, and hope a gap is created that something capable of detonating the TNT will fall through.
another 1-bird;> hit top cross member of the wooden scaffold in front of the rocket, YB flips over and down to break the last wood above the TNT, then a rock slab drops & whacks the TNT only 120’s k, but FUN! Will, now try that top of rocket and down.
only got 130,020, but this was fun. put the cursor on the pebbles below the launcher, in front of the white bird. Hit booster as soon as you release. I got the YB right into the TNT!!! no help needed from the slabs… [[[we don’t get points for stuff falling, after the pigs are gone? i don’t think? 130 K come up and the rocket was still falling!
This was a great tip, thank you, got it in one bird on my second try. Also able to repeat the shot, about once every ten tries.
Well after following or I should say attemptimg to follow the numerous strats above I have found a method that works for me that may be one of the ones described above but I don’t think so.
Draw the YB back so that the left rear corner is directly pointing at the iris of the WB’s eye. Release. on the downward point of the arc, accelerate so that the YB crosses the top part of the wooden points of the crossbar in front of the stone rocket at a slight downward angle. The point of impact is *just* below the junction of the horizontal stone beam and the vertical stone beam. I accelerate usually just before midway over the two stone towers. The vertical beam will kick out and rock down finishing the destruction of the wooden block. I have had the yb and the stone beam both pop the tnt’s below. GL and thanks to everyone who has posted their strategies!
Hope mine helps.
Here is a video I found that helped refine my strat. Credit to them for the original idea.
Of course, anytime to blast the bejeezus out of the pigs is a good time to be had by all. (Except for the pigs, of course, which is a given, but that’s THEIR problem!!)
For the feather: Bring down the level, as usual, then flip the can over the leftmost stone tower, to land on the ground in the tower’s right side.
Wow, thanks for the tip @eggomaniac! I wasn’t quite sure what you meant at first but gave it a try anyway and sure enough, I got 128500 on my second try! I pulled YB down, lining him up with the pebbles just in front of WB and accelerated. He flew way up and came down perfectly tumbling through the gap and ignited tnt! I got 135430 on my fourth try ;-)
@eggomaniac — Great strat! Wish I had read this before trying the ones above.
After numerous tries, I couldn’t find any particular spot on the top of the rocket that gave consistent results. Just aim for the top part and keep repeating. Count how many times you hit the top part of the rocket before you get a one birder. It seems like it takes forever to get results, but once in every 30 tries (at least for me) is about how often it happens. Also, @doctonynyc said he was going to try using the white bird on the first structure before the time ran out. I did try it a couple of times but was unable to get the tower to fall. It still looks like a good idea, but I am giving up on it unless someone else gets it to work.
@stocktoad, I just got a 1-Birder myself, I tried what you did, but the bird doesn’t walk the side of the ship fast enough to cause any damage to the half block at the bottom, my solution was to launch him straight up speed boosting from the sling, he landed smack dab on the block and blew all to hell, although I still haven’t been able to get the left tower to topple.
@werewolf69 Way to go! I also tried the speed boost from the sling thing and was successful one time. My best guess would be one out of 50 for that method and one out of 30 for just hitting the top. It doesn’t seem like it will ever work, but it does. The speed boost method requires precise aiming, which, to me, got very tiresome doing it over, and over, and over……..
Yes, the 1-birder I have mentioned before have made quite some ppl happy, but for me it didn’t do more than 133k. As you can see my topscore is 140k and I believe the topscores (ernor and manu) must have done something like the strategy below. This 140k was done in 2 birds and more is possible.
1st bird like the 1-birder, trying to get the chain reaction.
Now quickly fire the 2nd bird, the white bird. It must be fired in a somewhat horizontal trajectory. Fire the egg when you get close to the left stone tower. The trick is: get the bottom stone block to break (you’ll probably also break the little stone above that). When the yellow bird has set the chain reaction into motion, the left stone tower will also crumble.
There are more points into this, than the 1-bird strategy where the left tower will ALWAYS stand.
I came back to this page because of 2 mentions. I’ve actually achieved this a month or so ago. Sorry for the people who have tried to challenge ernor’s score yesterday. You didnt have a chance with the 1-birder ;)
It was a 2-birder indeed, @vaporizer. We simply don’t leave that amount of stone blocks behind, eh? For White, it doesn’t have to be the bottom rectangular stone because it’s harder to break than the small one above it. It might present more points though as i haven’t been able to do that. Great observation, my friend… :)
was playing a minor variation on this:
1st) moonshot: bird barely touching and accelerate immediately. it should land roughly midway the wood sticking out to the right of the launchtower. quite frequently (1 in 5 for me) this causes the chain reaction. (this is the shot as described in comments above by bill and eggomaniac.)
wait until the right tower has collapsed (its debris shouldn’t prevent the left tower from falling to the right and down after the 2nd), but don’t let the level time out.
2nd) send white bird to the left tower, activating late and such that the carcass hits the triangle sticking out. this should make the tower (except for its bottom-left part) fall to the right (1 in 3 for me).
this got me quickly into the current top 10, first with 142k and 15 minutes later with (almost) 144k, after scores into the mid 90ks after the first (no exact scores since i didn’t wait for things to stabilise as that would have made the level time out prematurely). higher scores definitely possible with this strategy e.g. if you get 100k+ after the first, or a better collapse of the left tower. waiting a bit before the 2nd seemed to make it easier to get a good collapse of the left tower. haven’t yet tried going for its bottom as described in comments above.
@vaporzer I was replaying this level and came upon your comment about high scores being 2 birders . I gave it a try using @vuelva variation . I was familiar with the one bird Moon shot , but spent some time putting the combination 90k + first shot , not having debris from right tower blocking left from falling, and white bird knocking over left tower into near empty pit with great destruction . With a little luck your strat worked for me 90k + first shot 20-25 second total close to115 k . Thank you both, keep the great ideas coming!
This level is a BLAST! I’ve tried all the techniques above but the one that worked best for me was just shooting the YB toward the top of the rocket. Even grazing the top of the wood is OK- You just have to have a little luck to have the YB drop into the TNT.
If you hit it just right you can lob the first yellow bird down through the last structure, hit the TNT and take the wholething down.
FINALLY got the one birder! Didn’t think fast enough to launch white bird for left tower though, was too amazed watching first bird fall and everything blowing up, LOL! Maybe I’ll revisit for a try at increasing score some more. Thanks to all for alternate strategies and follow up comments, I couldn’t have done it without you!!
152270 with 2 birds. Chain reaction from left to right.
The destruction is better when the chain reaction is starting from the left.
So, Chuck is used either to topple the top of the rocket or to soften the left tower ;-)
Just don’t let it start the chain reaction. I know, you have been trying the opposite for hours but it’s useless now ;-)
Then Matilda is used to break the horizontal stone plank in the left tower. The one that is holding the wood and glass planks, so that they all fell starting the chain reaction.
If you have used Chuck on the left tower you can even use a bloated pig strategy with Matilda (not activating her).
Then watch and hope. 145k+ scores are quite easy to achieve this way.
Here is the final result for my best score.
And the highscore screenshot.
Hope it helps.
Thanks for the strat! I regularly got 140k+ points when this worked out.
many many thx to @asher for the details and strat.
with the first bird, i break the wood on the right side
with the second break the horizontal-stone plank on the the left side
here my video:
Thank you @asher for the excellent strategy and @comex666 for the video illustrating it. I was able to move from 86th to 23rd (unfortunately not enough for a puppy, yet). After 100 or so attempts I found that it was necessary to release Matilda’s egg a split second earlier than one would think in order to get the force to break that horizontal stone. Pics of the screen and tally are in my album.
Revisiting. 147k/2 birds. Being unable to make @asher ‘s left to right method work, I tried experimenting a bit. I am aware that @swelld had already posted this first bird Strat in 2012. Thanks to him. Others have also mentioned using the second bird to destroy the first tower. Thanks to them. Here is a video to bring it all together.
@jwfisherman. You currently have the high score on here of 154k. Well done on that. Can you enlighten us as to how it was achieved? Thanks.
Dr., it’s been quite a while that I’ve played ABO in earnest to raise scores. I checked out your example video and I’m sure my high score was the result of o one birder, just like your first shot. Good luck.
Forgot to mention. It is important to send the white bird to destroy the bottom stone of the near tower before the whole thing explodes. To that end, once yellow is accelerated, use the white.
@desperate-dan Hi. Great score well done. Help please. Which strat did you use? Thanks
Hi @steviep147, sorry for not replying earlier, glorious weather so took the afternoon off work and did some gardening. I used your 2 bird strategy thanks. The white bird took out three blocks in the lower left hand corner so a good collapse and basically lucked out with destruction elsewhere. Previous best was 149k at the time so I am not expecting a repeat. Mainly pleased I have closed the gap on you in Mighty Hoax (you are 2nd, I am third). May keep working on that one…
Brilliant. Well done. I tried the other strat but as I said some time ago it didn’t work for me, very low scores . I too have been enjoying the sunshine, at the beach for most of the day. Tried to improve this afternoon but only a few high 140s but never more. Thanks for replying 👍
Think l can say great avatar in this forum @steviep147, BTW.
You may. I would really like everyone to adopt it. Don’t know how to suggest to all our members. Perhaps @admins or @birdleader can help?
