Rovio seems to have had a few energy drinks this month, because the updates just keep flying in (obviously we aren’t complaining, it’s merely an observation)! The newest teasers in GameCenter show that we have an update to the original Angry Birds in our midst. This will be the 7th episode that picks up where Mine and Dine left off. Â Could it be a space theme? Â Your guess is as good as mine. Â Unfortunately, we don’t have much more to report at this time, but we will stay on top of this and update you as we know more. Also observed is an Episode 7 update to “Angry Birds Free” — the demo-style app for iOS devices. We aren’t sure what the theme here will be, but we have not had a Mine and Dine episode in ABoFree yet, so it’s a good guess. Special thanks to Laurence for beating me to the punch on this one.

I’ll concede to and stipulate the penguin reference, but what about the pigs? With no fins, gills or breathing gear, it’s still a tough sell for an underwater level.

I wasn’t saying that all movie themes were too expensive. It’s just that Star Trek would be far more expensive to license than other themes. They did Rio because AB is popular right now and the studio saw it as a way to promote it. Star Trek (and Harry Potter) aren’t new ideas and have extremely large followings already. Therefore they will be too expensive for Rovio to license considering they can still come up with new themes for free.
Don’t get me wrong, I’m a Star Trek fan and would like to see it here. I’m just saying that it isn’t all that realistic.
I’m not sure a fair theme would fly (ha) in the original AB. Now I could see that idea working in AB seasons as the next Summer Pignic…

Yes! Not only would a volcano theme be the next logical place to go after “Mine & Dine”, I loved the graphics they did for that volcano mini game about a month ago.

ABWiki is following the 2011 routine. They claim the next Season is Valentine’s 2. Can’t really blame them, since the first two Seasons have matched, but there is still no evidence.
Really? The golden egg’s on the 31st of Desember. I don’t think Rovio wants to make a whole new episode right after ones end. Also Happy Birdday is on the 11th of Desember. Rovio is very busy lately, so I don’t think that the want to make a whole new episode. So I would like to know where you got this, because this might be the new ABWiki.

Oh come on now, give me a bit of a break. I still havent finished the latest RIO update and everyday I get a new level in Seasons. I can’t keep up! The only saving grace is that I play on an andriod and we usually get updates about a week after they come out.
My thumb is killing me and has the biggest blister on it. LOL
The iPad has saved my thumbs from blisters. Of course, I’m not sure that I have a fingerprint left on my index finger…

Ah, that’s right. There was a game. Made my brother-in-law happy, he’s originally from Wisconsin. We were at the MSU Union that day for the holiday art fair and he got a Badger’s plaque from one of the artists. Made sure it was not in evidence as we continued to roam!

How did. You get a blister on your thumb? I have an itouch, and I don’t get thumb blisters… I just get calluses on my index finger and cramps in my fingers from keeping them in the same position for so long!
Try using your thumb,I play Angry birds with thumbs,it doesn’t give me any blisters or cramp,btw,use left hand’s thumb
I didn’t get blisters on my thumbs, just i lost all feeling in them for a while, and they felt like they were electrocuted.
Nice with all these updates! But it almost too much at once.. I’m not complaining, just hopefully we won’t sit for two months and wait for updates after wreck the halls is finished.. :)
Well, 2 months between Seasons isn’t that bad. 2011 went “Seasons Greedings” to “Hogs and Kisses”.
It could be the volcano and pistachio and chrome levels. Plus they can update with the option to change design to chrome and back.
Okay, I am officially an addict. I sit outside during my lunch hour at work playing various levels of AB. Even in San Antonio, it gets cold (high today was in the 45F range). So, my hands get cold. I found gloves to use for the ipad/iphone. Didn’t know they existed, just decided to look.
I may have to visit Marc’s Rehab Center after this. :-)
I am Tottaly addicted. I do a little happy dance whenever an update comes out for angry birds!!! My classmates stare at me when I do it. I say there is an update out for angry birds and they understand.

Those are in every cutscene for angry birds, although a knights and dragons kind of thing would be neat!
As nice as new levels sounds, I’d rather see an update that let’s me sync between multiple devices. I’d love to play on my iPad, but I can’t take it everywhere so I’m stuck on iPhone only for now.

I know. But it would be much more streamlined if it would sync between devices. Kind of the way iOS 5 syncs stuff with cloud. This way if I am playing on my iPad and have to leave the house, my progress will also be on my iPhone.
It just seems like this could be done through cloud. It would make things much easier.

Space? Ice cave? Beach? Star Wars? We all must be anxious to find out. But I don’t particularly care. I’m not the AB addict I once was. The lengthy delays of new versions for my platform and The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim took that away from me.

This is great! I’m enlightened to know that Rovio is not only updating AB Seasons and Rio, but the original version as well. Really looking forward to it! :-)
I agree, and they seem to be trying to get more devices updated at the same time, not to mention that these updates are either free, or at very little cost! (I’m thinking of the Chrome update which was only $3.99 plus .99 for ME).

I would support the fact that the Rovio, would create a new app, that could be called: Angry Birds Mini.
Look, Rovio has create these web levels or episodes, as -Volcano, -Pistacios,Chrome dimension, G+ levels, Winterwonderland and those unlocked giftboxes.
Rovio has also created this angry birds free whit magic, to Nokia.
Well i suggest that rovio would put all these levels together to another app, where those level’s are in their own chaptes.
It would be nice to get the possibility to play all those levels on your mobile divice.

I would love to see that as well. The mini games are wonderful advertising for the companies. They have brought more attention to these products than any other kind of ad ever would have overnight, but playing online isn’t as easy as just launching an app.
I would love to see Rovio suggesting to these companies that after a certain length of time the advertising app could be downloaded to devices rather than going to the companies’ websites. A link to the website could be included on the level select screen.
I played Volcano a few times, but it was really slow on my computer. Pistachio was fast enough, but I’m not spamming to play extra levels. After a certain length of time, it would make sense to move the advertising games to our devices to keep the games alive and make more people aware of their products.
Rovio could still make money on them by charging the companies either when the mini game is downloaded, or by click throughs to that company’s website from within the game. To get people to click through, the companies could offer coupons or something.

Fps (frames per second) counter. If such a feature could be added to all versions of the game, we could benchmark our platforms and compare performance levels. What would mine get with vsync off? About 400 fps?

That’s one of the best news since a very long time. ABo is still my favorite but there was no way for me to improve my score anymore. But I definately want to get back in the Top 1000 again… And so my GF can keep on on complaining ;-)
