Rovio promised us “something exclusive” earlier this week when #UnlockTheFlock was announced. What we didn’t expect is that it was just the tip of the iceberg, as today Rovio dropped this bombshell:
Want to help design a level in the Number 1 app of all time? Want millions of people across the world play it? Well here’s your chance!
Get inspired by one of the themes below, send us your ideas as a sketch, painting or photo, before October 15th then we’ll pick our favorites and turn them into levels for the next Angry Birds episode! How flock-tacular is that? The answer is very. Very flock-tacular indeed!
Hrm, let me think…. YES! Yes we do!
Now, what makes this EVEN MORE awesome is that AngryBirdsNest AND Pigineering are BOTH participating! So if you’ve ever wanted your very own custom Angry Birds level that is actually playable in the game this is your chance.
Start Designing Today – Entry Ends Oct. 15th
The Angry Birds 5th Birdday page has most of the details. In a nutshell each partner, including the Nest and Pigineering, have themes that you should design your levels around. Our themes are as follows:
AngryBirdsNest
“The ultimate Angry Birds community has laid down this challenge: Make M.C. Escher proud, and dream up a level that defies the laws of physics!”
Hint: Don’t get too caught up with the whole M.C. Escher concept. This is about science and fun, so pretty much anything goes.
Pigineering
The No.1 Bad Piggies community wants to see your levels come alive with food, glorious FOOD! I’m having a sudden craving for an omelette…
How to Submit Your Level(s)
- Once you’ve drawn or sketched something out you want to share head to the Angry Birds 5th Birdday page
- Scroll down and under the “CHOOSE A THEME!” section hit the right arrow and select either “Angry Birds Nest” or “Pigineering” (what you chose depends on which theme your level design is for).
- If you’re not logged into your Rovio account you’ll be prompted to upon clicking / tapping. If you don’t already have a Rovio account you can register for one.
- Once logged in you’ll be presented with a form where you can upload your creations.
Is there another way to submit?
Yes! If you’re having issues with the aforementioned process we have you covered. Simply upload your level creations to us here or to your album. I would then suggest you leave a comment here letting us know. If they meet the guidelines we will submit them to Rovio.
Do you have any examples? Why yes!
I honestly cannot wait to see what you all come up with. Don’t wait too long though, as the deadline for submissions is October 15th! If you have any questions or comments leave them below.
@les-toreadors I have DREAMED of this. I have so many level design ideas, which leads me to a question…
Is there a cap on how many levels you can submit?
@spacemaster I’d imagine if you crash the server from submitting too many, they’d ask you to stop :) I’d love to see a few ABSM levels in the game.
Thank you! I like your level and hope to see it in the game as well!
@spacemaster No cap! I would love if some of your ideas were submitted under the Nest theme. It woudl also be great to share them here by uploading them to your album.
@birdleader Thank you! Do you guys have a say in what ABN levels are used?
Its safe to say this will be a great pig event and maybe the one and only time you can tell Rovio what you think is the ultimate Angry Birds level!
The popularity of this means you should aim to contribute as many drawings and ideas as you can before the deadline. A target rate of one per day would be what I deem adequate to make sure you get noticed and have a spot in the limelight :)
Even one a day may not be enough! I’ve got a bunch of ideas…
Steady as she goes :) Constant effort is easier to manage; don’t get burnt out :)
imnot designing a level but i think it wud be a good idea like they did on 1 level of a b s w 2 ….put the sling on the right and fire birds to the left with structures on left as oppossed to always from left sling to right structures..just vice versa..good idea i think..
Yes, unique level designs are going to be the star of this show! Indestructible levels with only one hard to reach weak point, vertical levels, insane long distance shots, why not?
You do have to put your ideas to pen and paper and upload them, otherwise Rovio staff will have no idea what to build!
Great idea!! Should possibly see some interesting levels!!
Just submitted an idea under the ABN theme. I did take Escher pretty literally, and wanted to get mine in before @amslimfordy. I suppose I could put it in my album.
@kelani — Did you submit a level?
I notice that @les-toreadors was one of the first 2 that were uploaded to website.
OK, my submission is in my album.
BirdDay ABN Escher.png
To have any chance of understanding my sketch, you need to look at Escher’s “Relativity”:
http://www.mcescher.com/gallery/most-popular/relativity/
Wow! This level design idea is truly epig. I am wondering if Rovio would alter gameplay mechanics for the custom levels though.
I think this sort of idea is worth posting out to Rovio! Detailed descriptions and innovative concepts are more likely to stand put from the crowd. I also like your design in that much of the action is vertical and that is seldom seen in the standard game.
For my ideas they are likely going to focus on simplicity (as I am assuming Rovio will prefer to use standard items and environments due to the sheer number of design ideas submitted) but convey unlikely level design concepts that aren’t popular in the standard levels.
Wow, @MVNLA2, that is really thinking “outside of the box” with the vertical trajectories! Very cool, indeed.
@mvnla2 I haven’t made one yet. I’ve dreamed about what I’d make if Rovio released a level designer app, but now that we’re on the spot, I can’t think of anything! :)
Ha, very nice @mvnla2. Amazing.
I know I’m a great drawer, but I’m not so sure that I want my drawings to go all over the world @birdleader
Ha, then don’t participate. Gotta love simple solutions.
Think it’s amazing that the new Rebel update to ABSW II has some multiple bounce birds; just what is needed for my entry! So the only thing that is left to figure out is how to have multiple directions of gravity! The previous sentence violates a lot of the rules we used to have in my group at work about prohibited language; statements like “all you have to do” were not allowed.
Someone else has had the same observation as you, drawing and submitting an extreme multiple bouncy level :)
@les-toreadors — Any way you can tell me which other submission has multiple bounces? Don’t really have time to look at them all.
@mvnla2
love the level u came up with. Very different yet original.
i suck at drawing so i won’t be drawing levels but will look very closely to what some genius on this site will come up with :)
@joeyba — As you saw, my drawing skill is lousy, so don’t let that stop you! The fun is in the creating, who really cares if you win?
If you notice, I don’t even bother to color anything or Photoshop anything for this event. Rovio’s level designers will translate your pen n paper efforts into actual levels for you. All they need is a good idea and some bacon to steer them by :3
Good level @mvnla2
My first level is done. Level 1
@birdleader Is this a good ABN mind-bender? This is easy compared to what I’ve got in mind later :)
Very nice @spacemaster. Can’t wait to see what else you come up with.
This is very good. I like the puzzle approach. Similar to clever Stella level design like those hammers on pivots!
@les-toreadors Do you plan on doing a daily level as well?
I don’t see why not. The Pig’s department are going to be quite idle until a new piggy game comes along, and there’s no rules stating we can’t pitch in as many ideas as we like.
There are about 4 level ideas in my head right now, two original and two that can be based off old Bad Piggies fanart I made.
I’ve got three lined up for today. I plan on doing a daily one for the ABN theme, plus one other for a different theme of possible.
A couple questions for @birdleader and @les-toreadors:
Do you guys have a say in what levels are picked in your respective themes?
Also, while you guys might not know this, will we be notified before the update if our levels are used?
I’m gonna make a fairytale level with ugly ducks and gracious swans….;-)
I sent it in. But my “art” looks of it is made by a child from 2 years old..;-) Little excuses i make it in 2 minutes.;-).
I’ll look out for it!
They send you an email notification when they approve the post.
My recipe for “Grilled Pork Chop with Corn (Organic Epig Fail Variant)” will be up later :)
@swanz — Don’t worry about the quality of your art. I have 1st place for horrible art nailed down. No chance for any competition!
I sent a new thing in. A little bit better than de first .;-) Now with pigs and birds.;-)
I like this one!
The fact that it was uploaded bacon-side up (upside down) made it even more fun… like viewing it from low orbit hahaha :D
@swanz — You should put it in your album here. Difficult to find now that there are so many.
How about adding all the characters in each Angry Birds game?
I’ll be putting my thinking cap on this weekend!
I’ll try and create the BIGGEST, most EPIC and EXPLOSIVE chain reaction level ever!!!
Bacon Explosion with about 500 tons of fireworks!
@all — Bunch of new submissions posted on BirdDay site this morning. @les-toreadors is leading in number of submissions, I think.
@birdleader — It’s actually interesting that maybe the ABN theme has the most submissions so far! Not sure all of them address the theme, but probably indicates the dedication of ABN fans.
I am also surprised Rovio has not promoted the level creation event on social media. Perhaps they are sending out the word this weekend so they have an established set of proposals to showcase. Once shared on FB the outreach will be much larger.
@birdleader @les-toreadors Today’s 2 levels, both dedicated to ABN:
Level 2- Balancing Act
Level 3- Hang Time
Hope you guys like these! :)
Looking good! These are very ‘technical’ levels in that they are tight and require precise maneuvers, especially the first one requiring Matilda ricochet into that tiny cave. Very Mine ‘N Dine and will fit the dark cave graphics set perfectly.
The second one has a sort of HAL-O-Ween flavor to it, imagine if you could dress up King Pig as a spider (hey, why not have HAL-O-Ween sub-theme levels for more Jedi Rope Tricks?) :D
@spacemaster nice levels, man! Keep it up and Rovio may start recruiting you for their level design team. :)
@les-toreadors @kelani Thanks guys :) I’ve got two more levels drawn up, so I’ll give you a preview with the titles:
Level 4- Cave Fortress: a similar level to the previous ones, but much pigger. This one requires 7 birds!
Level 5- Floating Factory: a more open, block-heavy level with a designated one-bird solution but much more room for creativity.
I might just want to start a forum to put these in so I don’t take up this whole page!
I have already informed @birdleader we may require a forum thread to organize pork-per discussions. Especially when we start to discuss absolutely ginormous levels with 20 birds and 20,000 pigs under the sea :)
I am just waiting for Rovio to advertise the event properly on social media – that’s when there will be hundreds or even thousands of level entries not just a dozen a day.
This must be Phase 2 of the so-called “Angry Birds Revolution”. Both this and Flock Favorites involve user imput.
@all – The event has been shared on Angry Birds’ Official Facepork (facebook)!
The main bulk of the designs are still from ABN. This is an awesome close knit community able to band together and make the world a better place on short notice, sorta like… The Avengers working together :)
I hope ABN does set up a separate forum. There are getting to be a huge number of submissions; too many to look at them all.
Rovio has just blasted out an email to all subscribers to their newsletter mentioning this event. It’s going to be hard to keep track of individual entries from now on.
It’s important our little design staff here at ABN don’t lose steam over the weekend :3
@les-toreadors @birdleader Speaking of losing steam…
Level 4- The Floating Factory
Level 5- Cave Dwelling
Like ’em?
The Mine N Dine is strong in this one!
The running outta steam part is about the comments. We seem stuck at 50 plus for some time :)
I’ve been focused on the ABSW 2 update. Now that that is pretty much behind us the focus will return.
How can I upload my level to the computer?
If you can’t do a direct file transfer then either email the image to yourself and pick it up from your computer, or install and use Dropbox.
@james1562 — If you drew your level on a sheet of paper, you either need to scan it to your computer, or take a picture of it with a device (e.g. iPhone, iPad) that can connect to the internet. Then upload it directly to ABN and the Rovio BirdDay site.
For those with the app knowhow, having some image contrast and sharpness enhancement after taking the pigture is most helpful.
I use an office photocopier to scan a high res pdf then convert to jpeg in photopork.
Thank you @les-toreadors and @mvnla2 for the help. I’ll upload the pictures soon
Submitted an idea and simple drawing to Rovio, under ABN, for a level/entire game. Have not received notification if it has been accepted but basically focuses on the game play concept of aiming and launching two birds simultaneously with both hands. In the beginning levels that would be the focus. In the advanced levels one would have to aim, launch and then activate the birds properties for destructions, e.g., Yellow Bird. Did post my simple drawing in my album.
https://www.angrybirdsnest.com/members/wrw01/album/picture/11197/
You know this could be one fine idea for the CERN category! If two Chucks collide at maximum speed, do you get an Angry Particle? :D
ahhhhh…the scientist never rests…a theory of significance
Like the music of Georges Bizet – Carmen Suite No. 1, inspiring
@wrw01 It is. And Carmen Suite No. 2 isn’t too bad, either :)
When I first created this name I didn’t know it was music.
It comes from… other sources lol.
Hint: I don’t like sunlight :3
@wrw01 — Two slings is great! The only way I know to be sure they accepted it is to look through the nearly infinite list of submitted drawings.
I did receive an email from Rovio but have not had time to check back through all the postings.
@wrw01 @les-toreadors I just submitted a CERN level based on your suggestions! I attributed the idea to you.
It’s in my album.
Haha we’ll just have to wait a few weeks to see if the multiple slingshot idea can work.
The thing I had in mind for CERN is a horizontal particle accelerator assembly that crashes two fat pigs together, creating a Pig Bang.
But I have no idea how to propel stuff in Angry Birds without destroying the payload. Any ideas @birdleader, @sal9, @spacemaster?
Star Wars has the repulsors. Space has gravity fields and lava vents. Seasons has the magic teleporting portals. If the pigs could be dropped onto an angled surface and flung together, there’s plenty of bumper-type things (trampolines, pink bumper strips, umbrellas, inner tubes).
I just thought on how to make it work in Classic Angry Birds…
A slope.
Yes, a slope. Muahahaha au naturale pig pork-pulsion strategery :D (typos, puns, etc deliberate)
@mvnla2
Thank you!
I was thinking about a mountain-type, sea-type or just a simple level playing field theme where one would attack from both sides to obtain a goal in the middle, below in the water or at the top of an mountain.
Just wait and see what the Rovio folks behind the computers create. What ever ideas they select, the final products have been outstanding.
BTW @wrw01 — I got an e-mail from Rovio right after I submitted the level, and another one saying it had been accepted and would be published.
@wrw01 — Gaah! Rovio published the version in which I gave Burbman credit for your idea! (I don’t know why I continue to get you 2 confused.) I did submit a corrected version immediately afterword, with explanation, and just now sent an e-mail asking them to correct it.
And of course, that e-mail bounced.
I sent like 7 today. I made it with Paint so i can easily upload them. There are some spoilers on 3-starring on some of these:

Great art !
@birdleader @les-toreadors 2 new levels:
Level 6- The Decoy Egg– Under the Pigineering theme!
Level 7- Logging Operation– Under the WWF theme!
I’ll be back to doing ABN levels tomorrow, I just thought I’d branch out on themes today.
So many great ideas, everyone! Thanks for sharing them with all of us!
@les-toreadors: Thanks for this wonderfully informative post, and the above-and-beyond support to help ABN members participate!
I don’t know if we have any “inside” connection with Rovio to get answers to a couple of questions that other ABN members have brought up, and that struck me right away when I enthusiastically went to check out the submissions, especially for the ABN theme.
Sorry for the long post, and I absolutely understand that you folks may not be able to answer these questions. Totally fine; thanks so much for all the information, support, and encouragement you’ve provided here! Also, mea culpa in advance if you’ve already answered these questions, and I just overlooked them. (Oops!)
Question 1: Does Rovio plan to provide tools to make it easier for the community to find and look at types of submissions that interest them?
After reading this post and all the comments here, I went to the official Rovio page to see submissions for the ABN theme, and maybe browse submissions for some of the other themes. I was rather disappointed to find that the gallery of submissions was just one big long infinite (and in this case, I do mean infinite) scrolling page, without any tools for at least filtering by category/theme, or narrowing down the list to a manageable number of entries in way.
Sadly, there didn’t seem to be a way I could find and admire the ideas submitted for the ABN theme, unless members provided links to their albums in this discussion.
Of course, it depends on Rovio’s intention for the submissions gallery. If they just wanted to show that they have received a bazillion ideas, then mission accomplished. But if the goal is for AB customers/fans to actually browse the submissions, then the current gallery doesn’t really support that objective.
I’m sure that Rovio has back-end tools for filtering, sorting, and tagging so they can manage the giant number of submissions, and narrow them down to ones that fit various criteria for their selection process. Perhaps they plan to do an initial winnowing process, and then present a round of “finalists” for community input?
I would just really like to be able to effectively browse all the ideas submitted, using standard filtering/sorting/grouping/search features for really long lists like the submissions gallery.
Question 2: Is Rovio interested in getting input from the community on ideas submitted?
I noticed that there are both Like and star options for community “voting”. The Like option is primarily a way for Rovio to generate social media promotion for this event. The stars rating implies that community input is at least of interest to Rovio as part of the selection process…but without a useful interface for viewing submissions, it isn’t likely to generate a representative sample of feedback.
It would just be nice to know if Rovio is interested in community involvement, other than just accumulating the maximum number of submissions, and have just thrown in the Like and rating features to encourage community promotion and engagement.
Absolutely Rovio’s choice, but if I Like or rate an idea, naturally I want to understand what that means. No point in investing the huge amount of time it would take to find an idea submitted by someone here on ABN so that I can “vote” for it, if that doesn’t make any difference. Also, I imagine that all the folks who submitted ideas would be interested to know if anyone has Liked or rated their idea.
Bonus Request: Separate forum for discussing this event.
@birdleader, I’d like to add my vote for a separate forum for this topic. I can imagine people collaborating on ideas, getting help with improving their designs, or discussing the finer details of certain types of interactions. Especially since the time window is so short, and we want to encourage as much participation from ABN members as possible. (ABN Pride!)
Just figured you could throw a new forum up there, you know…in your copious spare time. :-)
Or maybe that’s a delegation thing…after all, the wonderful ABN volunteers probably all have lots of free time for take on yet another task. [Not!]
Thanks everyone!
@junkenmetel — Anyone can start a new forum, the problem would be finding someone with the skills and time to create a poster page of ABN submissions. For example @e-star has her own server, and has created a poster page of all submissions for the avatar contest. I don’t mean that she should volunteer, because I know that she is super-busy. Don’t know who might have the time and skills.
Hi @JunkenMetel! Thanks for your well thought out queries and observations. While I don’t have the experience of @birdleader and all the great ABN crews on Bird related matters, I can perhaps reply from my own views based on what I had seen for the past 2 years running a small pig following.
Regarding Question 1: Does Rovio plan to provide tools to make it easier for the community to find and look at types of submissions that interest them?
I think your feedback is well warranted considering the prospective massive response from such events, especially this weekend when it was shared publicly on Angry Birds’ official Facebook page. With a reliable reach of several million followers, it’s going to be a huge blitz on the Birdday page from now until 15 Oct (event closure). Those of us who submitted ideas are the spearhead to give a certain degree of inspiration to the world at large – I don’t expect any special honors nor do I mind if my early entries take a backseat, it is after all a global franchise.
Hopefully there will be a Hall of Fame in the end – there are about 30 winners plus possibly a few more consolation prizes so I would very much like if good designs and creative thought can be rewarded by Rovio giving them honors and a place to view their creations. Immortalizing their efforts somewhere so to speak.
In the meantime the lack of a sort and view function is possibly oversight or more likely the wish to simplify the page design. We’ll see if it that changes over the next week.
Regarding Question 2: Is Rovio interested in getting input from the community on ideas submitted?
Rovio has been consistently very receptive of fan feedback but there are limits to what they can do – I don’t think the likes and ratings are the end all method of quality control here for the same reasons you mentioned – it’s all too easy for people to skew the ratings to one side or another (deliberately or otherwise) as there is no publicly accessible sort and view function.
Pros and cons here – Rovio considering all individual submissions internally eliminates arguments and possible infighting over rankings from a huge global playerbase, but at the cost of public involvement in reviewing said submissions.
But the lack of a sortable gallery I find is a major oversight considering anything public and Angry Birds is going to have a very large amount of community engagement!
Not promising anything here but I’ll go look at a few things tomorrow and see if there are any improvements to the points your brought up, eh :)
As for level design forum – I am not sure if we need one at the moment, it’s really up to @birdleader to decide here – but if we can get our own well organized think tank setup here, I’m sure Rovio would appreciate us taking matters into our own hands.
It’s like, well, taking an example from the Hunger Games universe… Capitol of course oversees the entire nation but each individual District has its own way of doing things, matched to its resources and assigned responsibilities / specific contributions to the nation as a whole.
So, back to the subject of ABN and our own unique needs – us taking the initiative to catalog and review our own community entries in a special forum, if something of a Very Good Thing to me. It’s not exactly… crucial nor will it affect the rankings, but it’s something we can take the initiative to do and be proud to showcase in years to come.
Face it – statistically there is a very low chance of each individual idea getting a winning spot. Bringing attention to and organizing our own gallery plus personalized reviews, is something we can do to make everyone a winner!
Speaking of which… have to send more tributes to the Pig City, I’ve been occupied with other stuff this weekend and my awesome pdf scanning hardware is in the office, anyway.
Thanks for taking the time to write such a thoughtful response to my comment @les-toreadors! Much of what you said are things that I had been thinking myself, but didn’t write down, being as I was already rambling along at great length. :-)
I absolutely agree with all your points. I think you’re right that for this kind of event, Rovio probably wanted to implement it in a way that gave them the most control over the final selection process. And of course it’s one thing to launch an event like this with the simplest user interaction possible, versus having to invest significant resources and a time delay to add functionality.
As I mentioned in my reply to @mvnla2, somehow it escaped me that there was only a week left to submit ideas…a separate forum just isn’t feasible, nor – as you rightly point out — really necessary.
I guess I was so thrilled by seeing the wonderful ideas submitted by ABN members from the links in these comments, I wanted to be sure to view them all, and show my appreciation for so much creativity. I am excitable that way, you know…
Many thanks to everyone who posted links to their submissions in these comments; I really appreciate you taking the time to share your wonderful ideas with us!
Thanks again @les-toreadors; get back to creating more fun levels for us to play!
Thanks for the insight, @mvnla2.
I understand that it would be a considerable effort to add a new forum. And I just realized that there’s really only a week left for this event — yikes!
Pay no attention to my suggestion for a new forum @birdleader, it’s clearly a moot point. Apparently I live in my very own space-time continuum, divorced from the real world where there are calendars and such like.
As always, my appreciation for all the forum leaders and everyone who volunteers here at ABN; such a wonderful and remarkable community, for which I am so grateful!
With the help of my son we sketched out an idea over the weekend, though it doesn’t adhere to our theme. That’s okay though!
Haha this is awesomely cute!
The clouds and moon are a nice touch. Some attention to detail there :)
@birdleader, that level reminds me of a MINECRAFT Creeper. Still, that’s a hard one! Of course, depending on the placement of the slingshot, and the types and amount of birds to be used.
@aidbirds11 Ha! That’s because it IS a creeper. If you zoomed in on the image you’ll see my labels. Glad it sort of looks like what we intended it to look like. :)
@birdleader Angry Birds is in need of a Minecraft reference. Love this level!
@les-toreadors I just submitted my entry :
cc: @birdleader @amslimfordy @e-star @sweetp @kelani
what a great idea and execution @sal9 I LOVE it!!
@sal9 Nice! I think you came as close as possible to replicating Drawing Hands in an AB level. :)
Really nice idea. A question though — Where are the birds and which birds?
@mvnla2 I’m letting Rovio decide on the number and location of pigs and birds
That’s awesome @sal9! That is THE definition of a challenging level! I hope Rovio chooses it. I think it would be perfect for an Abra-Ca-Bacon type episode. Heeeee!
Omg, the two hands are drawing each other. Piggies are amused, but wonder if they can do it with two snouts :D
Nice good luck!
@sal9 Fantastic design! Really hope this one gets picked!
@sal9 Nice picture man!
love the design. really nice
I decided to do a NASA themed sketch because hey, no one drawn a Saturn V or SLS yet to go to the Moon and beyond? Pigposterous!
So between clients’ meetings I came up with a rather small version of the Kennedy Space Center simplified with just the bare minimum of details. Along with a text based description on how a level designer may bring it to life with a crazy amount of difficulty if he/she so desired. Like making the rocket out of stone, and having no Bomb to break them, thus having to try and lob Chuck into the oh so tiny flame pit beneath the rocket and attempt to blow up the first stage from below.
https://www.angrybirdsnest.com/members/les-toreadors/album/picture/11254/
@e-star — Did you submit your level yet? Please don’t forget; it’s really, really good
Thanks for the reminder @mvnla2 But I am still not happy a 100% and I think I will try and tinker so more over the weekend. Still 5 days left right?
@e-star and anyone else still working on a submission — The Rovio page says submit your entry BEFORE October 15. At the very least, it means it needs to be submitted on Oct 14. Then there is the question of which time zone. Rovio is in Finland, where the time is UTC + 3, because they are currently using daylight savings. UTC (used to be GMT) is always without daylight savings. Not to mention that I don’t know how daylight savings time affects this. It does appear that Finland will still be on EEST (eastern European summer time or daylight savings time) on Oct. 15, but to be safe, please submit your entry early. Different countries switch on / off daylight savings on different dates, or not at all.
If you want to know what the time is where you are relative to UTC, google “city, country time zone or time now.”
cc @birdleader @admins
I give up, I wanted a better Escher pattern in the river, but that is a lot harder to do than it sounds. So this will be my submission for the ABN theme Escher.
going to Rovio right now to upload it. Lots of good idea’s so far from this amazing community, I am sure Rovio will be able to make one awesome level in honor of the Nest.
@e-star pure awesomeness!!! i will play this level over and over for sure
@e-star – great level! I haven’t been able to keep up with everyone’s submissions – so many awesome ideas! – but I love the way you worked in the Escher theme and the Nest, too!
I particularly love levels with gigantic chain explosions, so you had me right there. I know it would take an extra bird, and probably not work if the ramp is glass, but as soon as I saw your design, I wanted to “nudge” the floating nest above the ramp, then drop the boulders so they would roll all the way down the ramp (if they didn’t fall off along the way), take out the artist pig at the bottom, then set off the TNT at the bottom.
Nudging a floating nest + rolling down a tricky ramp + KABOOM = Way. Too. Much. Fun.
I definitely want to play this level!
Aww thanks @joeyba I missed your note a while back. Guess only time will tell right, but given the fact there are a LOT of level for Rovio to choose from, I am not expecting my level to appear when I open up the game when the update lands.
@junkenmetel I know right, who knew there was such bags of creativity amongst the flingers. bIg smile you liked my idea… cause I also LOVE big explosion levels and your idea of nudging the level is one I wanna try now I have read your comment… so Rovio… bring it on!!
As @les-toreadors says below, and from the AngryBirds reply to my tweet, the closing date and time is:
Angry Birds @AngryBirds Oct 13
@MVNLA Chirp! The competition ends on October 15th, 2014 at 06:00 p.m. GMT
Good luck!
How do the developers pick the final levels?
@birdleader, for the diy level, they are gonna let us choose ABNest as a level! But if you already knew, ok doky.
ok, i have an idea, a nice one i think, but not sure im going to be able to draw it as I suck in drawing :)
So i’ll explain it and put a sketch..

my level would be based on bowling set. Terrence will be the only bird in 3 times in the level.
in the middle there will be King Pig wishing HB to the birds in this shape:

The pigs will be taking the shape of the bowling pins and Terrence should finish them.
The balloons on he sides are Eggs.
I wish i can make a nice drawing cause it can seriously be a fun level.

@joeyba — You should put all your explanations on the drawing and resubmit it.
Although there’s 2 days to go for this event, this is likely going to be one of my last ideas. After all I prefer posting things only when I have good inspiration!

Here’s my submission under the AB Nest theme. When I saw “defy[ing] the laws of physics,” I figured I’d go with a near-impossible balancing act.

@rizdub — Very nice!
A few other questions before submitting,
1. Does it have to be colored? (coloring always ruins my drawings) and,
2. Do you have to put personal info?
Thanks.
@james1562 — I don’t think it needs to be colored. They ask for your real name and e-mail (I think), but neither are published, just your acronym.
I am very cautious about putting personal info out on the internet, and submitted 2 entries without any doubts about revealing anything personal.
As @MVNLA2 says, colouing isn’t compulsory. If you want to keep it simple and technical, just concentrate on drawings and detail of your environment and constructs.
2. You’re signing in using your Rovio Account on the Birdday page, so they will contact you via email.
For obvious privacy reasons many/all of us submitted entries under our ABN aliases regardless of what the small print says in the T&Cs. (Yes, I did read *everything*, being a legal secretary and all. hehehe)
@mvnla2 and @les-toreadors thank you again
If anyone wants to crash the party with a last minute upload on Birdday, do note they might have stopped reviewing entries on an immediate basis or are indunated with a flood of uploads, so be sure to upload early and repost if you don’t receive the acknowledgement email promptly.
Better safe than sorry, as the event is closing soon. According to the Terms and Conditions on the upload page, the official closing time is as follows:
