Your rank is determined by the number of points you have earned. Points are earned by interacting on the site. For example, you can earn points for leaving comments, returning to the site, and more. Note, spamming comments will not help you earn points and can get you banned. We will be adding a bunch more ways to earn points down the road, so keep your eye out.

There will be only ONE HollyDog awarded per player during the Advent Challenge, no matter how many times the top score is beaten (does not count towards Club Underdog).

You could earn 5 points for each of the following:
-Log in the site every 24 hours
-Commenting at least once on any page (walkthroughs and articles included)
You could check the number of points you have by mousing over your avatar. Have fun! :)

You get ranks by signing in each day, or just stay signed in and you will receive 5 pts every 24 hours, give or take, no particular time. Also receive 5 pts per comment per page..if you comment more than once on the same page, you will not receive pts for that. Also your comments must be pertainable to the game…ex. a different way to shoot the birds, or a congrats to someone who has done well( but don’t overdo the one word comments just to get pts). Helpfulness counts for a lot here so have fun and relax, if you just chill with the rest of the payers you will move up before you know it good luck! :)

You only have 100 pts to go, so if you post NEW, helpful suggestions on how to get a better score on any level, you will be there in no time. However, you need to be sure you don’t spam just to get points. Posts considered spam by Slim aren’t counted. Good luck!

Sorry, the threshold was drastically lowered when the Ham’O’Ween update came out and is thus easier to achieve.
Exactly as they said. We cannot award the badge any more as the accomplishment is not nearly as difficult as it used to be.

Quite right. If needed, we can do so. But there is no reason right now. I think there are only 8 non-admins over 3k.

So to use the @mention feature…do you just put the ‘@” symbol in front of user name…as I noticed when I do it, it does not highlight in blue like everyone elses does…am I doing it wrong?
See the small grey @ after a person’s nickname in posts? Use that one. The @ feature MUST use usernames since they are unique and nicknames need not be. So, for example, I am indeed amslimfordy, but you must use mr-potato for some, and lesleyg for others ;)
Note: The @ refers to your username, which is unique. The display name can be changed at whim, but similarly need not be unique.

TestUser1 is exactly what you think it is: An account created by the staff with no special admin privileges. This way, we can analyze issues while logged-in to a non-admin account. It was a bug is the system that automatically awarded him every badge, but it has since been corrected.

We Thought it was a good way to reward loyal members. Granted there are some cons to it, but I think it is more good than bad.
Do new members automatically get 25 points? Every single new member I see always has 25 points and has no comments posted.

Registered before the ranking system went into effect and have not logged into ABN since the ranking system started.

It is not available any more. You had to earn the SG-16 feather BEFORE the threshold was lowered in Ham’o’ween update.

You start with 25 points as a new user, then you get 5 points per comment in a page, and 5 points for checking in daily.
…How do I gain points actually? It only says “leaving comments, returning to the site and more”. It doesn’t say EXACTLY how many comments or times returning to the site or anything.

I thought the group was supposed to take over for this page, but there is still a lot of activity here. I guess there may be some confusion. It’s a bummer I joined the site to late to get a bunch of those badges. ie the Seasons badge, the danger zone badge, etc. I’d be way up there for points but I guess that’s just the way it goes. Still a killer site though.

When you are at a bottom of a page (like here at ABN and you want to go to the top… to check your messages for instance or any other item in the gold bar)>>> TAP the TIME at the top of your screen! And swoooshhh your at the top… Also will work in other programs, such as photo album.
*just hear it a week ago from my hubby, he read it some where and we have had Apple devices for over 3 years now hahahah*

I know @annach, the only thing I could find is a javascript for Safari. So it will work for websites.
I tried it and it works, not ideal like tapping the time, but easy enough for me to have installed it.
It involves making a bookmark of a javascript text which tells Safari to scroll down to the bottom of the page.
This is the line you need to put in you bookmark (or addressbar at the top)

Thanks a lot for info, E-Star. I played a bit more with going to the top and noticed that you don’t actually have to tap on time, you can tap anywhere on that top panel (where the time is) and it will work.
Having a “Device Tips” section in the FAQ would be a great idea. This info from @e-star could be shown there along with other tips for example: When playing on a PC, you can use the keyboard’s ‘R’ key for reset and ‘P’ should you need to pause. (I play with 2 hands – one on the mouse the other hovering over the R key.) I read a comment just recently that mentioned the player had been playing for quite a long time and not realised you could zoom in and out. When I first started playing I didn’t know that either and only found out because some one saw me playing and mentioned that you could zoom!

I think Tips and Tricks would be a good topic for a group or forum. That way the admins would not have to keep it up-to-date. Group might be best, because in a forum, the creator has to keep the main post updated.

I think it was the fact that chicadee was getting 10 points each day and not 5 that they were having a question about.
Yep @thetoddman23 you’re spot on. Up until I reached 1300 points I only ever received 5 points each day. Now I receive 10 points. Like I said, not a complaint – just wondering if it’s happening to everyone.
Simple answer, I increased the amount because I appreciate people coming back and participating.

Angry Birds Team: If I wrote out several walkthroughs for Rio, Trophy Room, as Dani, which is me when I am not signed in. Do you get points for things like that? If so, is there any way I can get points credit for them under my username, BirdLady? I would like to get the points if at all possible, as I not only love the game and the ABN site, but I tried to help those Android users who received the Trophy Level prior to iOS. Most of the time it is the other way around, and I am seeking help from iOS users. Some levels seem impossible to beat without some help. Also, I know Amazon Store, which is what I use as well, has had some problems with updates wiping out Angry Birds scores and data, depending on what game you were updating. I was a guinea pig and let ABN know when the coast was clear, and it was really and actually safe to download from Amazon without any data loss. Sounds strange I know, but it is all true.
@birdlady Welcome to ABN! As you might have noticed that, in order to obtain points you MUST be logged in. Although, you can have an admin to look at your situation.

Ah, such is life. I’ve been so busy playing, I’m still working my way around the Nest. However, thanks for the mention, although I do not log in when on the public or shared device. Privacy concerns, as the minute I get complacent, poof, shattered dreams.

2) The badges & ranking system is only loyal when a user is signed in.

@deathhammer you must also provide photo proof of your score in DZ to receive badge, attach a photo and copy AMslimfordy.
I have a suggestion for a new badge – “Above Average”. It could be awarded to someone who has posted scores for all levels of a given AB game, and they are all (drum roll) above average. It certainly wouldn’t be easy to get, and even harder to keep.
A good idea. However, I see a few issues with this.
1) (Mostly a technical issue) The badges & ranking system does not really interact with the Leaderboards at this time.
2) (A logic issue) What if a user eventually falls below average on a level? Should their badge be revoked?
3) (A bigger logic issue) Not every platform has every level. For example, there is no Danger Zone in Mac, there is no Facebook/Twitter levels for PC/Mac in Seasons, Chrome does not have all episodes, etc.
4) (2 + 3) What if a new episode is released? Should everyone’s badge be revoked?
I’m not saying no by any means, I’m just saying there is a lot of technicalities that probably stand in the way of it happening very quickly.
Thanks for replying, Slim. Here’s some thoughts on your thoughts.
1) I wondered about the interaction between Leaderboards and badges. I agree it would be difficult to implement the badge without that interaction.
2) Assuming #1 could be overcome, my thought would be, yes, the badge would be revoked if they fell “below average”. In my mind, this would encourage players to continue to interact with ABNest leader boards. Losing the badge because the average went up, would be challenge to get it back.
3) I was not aware that not all levels were available on all platforms. However, again assuming #1 existed, perhaps eligibility for the badge could be limited to those levels of a given game that DID exist on all platforms; i.e. not having above average Danger Zone scores wouldn’t disqualify someone from the badge.
Another way to look at it would be to only use levels that had at least 1 score entered for qualification. Actually this would allow a new user to qualify for “Above Average” on the basis of good scores on 1 level in 1 game. Of course he’d lose it as soon as he entered 1 score on another level of that game.
4) I think your #4 would be handled by my #3. Badges would only be revoked for those who started to enter scores in the new episode. And then that’s an immediate challenge to work on that level.
My final thought is that only a small number of ABNest users can compete for the “Top Score” or “Top 10” or “Top 50”. etc. In theory, 50% of your users could qualify for the “Above Average” badge. As I mentioned above, a new user could get the badge for good scores on only Poached Eggs in Angry Birds. The he’d lose it as soon as he entered the 1st score in Mighty Hoax. It’s a badge that would be a continuous challenge.
I like the idea, but if the average changed, some people could complain that the lost their badge. Also, there is a max score to a level, so some people could have the badge forever. Finally not everyone uses leaderboards, so my total score could be hogher than yours, and if its not in the leaderboard, you could be “above average” according to the badge, but not in reality
@amslimfordy, @birdleader – can you please clarify the conditions for getting new underdog badge? Is it given to anyone who beats the previous top score during the Daily Challenge? Or only to the top scorer at the end of the Challenge? And what happens if somebody beats their top score after the Challenge and their score is no longer the top score – will the badge stay or will you revoke it?
Fair questions.
Suppose the Top Score for the Daily Challenge is 100,000 at-launch (usually 2:00 AM UTC). If User X
• submits a valid score over 100,000 points during the Challenge’s lifespan,
• submits a screenshot to confirm the score, and
• submits a written strategy for obtaining the score
then User X is entitled to the badge. There is no condition on who X may be (e.g., the existing Top Scorer with 100,000 can indeed earn the badge by surpassing their own score). If the “badge-score” of say 101,000 is eventually surpassed, the badge will not be revoked. More than anything, we can’t possibly monitor THAT many levels.

I think there is a problem with the system. People can just spam to earn points and get higher levels. Also, what is the point of badges?
As it says above,”Spamming comments will not help you earn points and can get you banned.”. Badges are used to symbolize achievements and goals made by that person.
1) Absolutely correct, though we handle those rare people on an individual basis. We usually delete their spammy comments, remove the points, and force a “must-moderate” clause on their account to avoid future spamming.
2) Badges are supposed to be honors to notable users.
