Shiny totem

Hello everyone, i have a question in my mind about shiny totems. I have a Red 5 star bird. If i diffuse that shiny totem to this bird, will it gain double xp everytime i upgrade it? Or it will give double xp if i diffuse him into another bird? Pls help on this topic.

If you give a bird an XP totem and then feed the shiny bird into another, it gives double XP.

@Buds.  That’s the way I understand it, too.   But I see players in the arena that have level five birds that are shiny.   I have one level five bird  that is shiny, but he was shiny when I got him.   The players I’m talking about that I have seen have a whole team of shiny level fives.  Why would anybody waste the coins to put a shiny totem on a level five bird?   I’m guessing that if you’ve played long enough to have a whole team of level five birds, you’ve got enough coins to blow them on a shiny totem on a level five bird?
