Just noticed that @comex666 predicted 119k was possible, so this is the proof.

119800/2 I gave this level a serious effort for the Challenge but was 5k short on the day. Feeling that there was more to come I left it in R&R mode overnight (using @knichy approach) and was totally stunned to […]

I’ve just realised @brianN that there is footage of all the goals in the 1979 FA Cup Final at the end of the video, so it’s later than the EP. I really can’t imagine Tony Banks being a football fan – rather beneath him.
Struggling to pick out one outstanding year in the 1980s. It’s not a terrible decade but when artists like Prince and Madonna…[Read more]

Anyone remember this curio from 1977? From the Spot the Pigeon EP. Pretty naff but the video is a bit of a time capsule.

Aagghh, I forgot New Boots and Panties was in 1977. A absolute classic, but with a dash of the parental advisory (I was 17 and living at home at the time). Gotta have this.

It’s on a par with a streak of 773 in Wordle!

1977 was of course the year of Rumours and the great Steely Dan album Aja. If we have nailed down 1971 and 1977 as truly great years of the 1970s (with nods to 1970, 1972 and 1978 as well), does anyone have a candidate for the best of the 1980s? Well aware we are into Fall territory here…

It turned out that John Lydon really did like Pink Floyd after all.

Warming to the theme.
1977’s album Animals by Pink Floyd is my favourite of theirs. Now in case you think they should have been swept away by punk, just listen to the lyrics. Roger Waters was far more angry than the ravings of the punks and he had hardly started (a mere hors d’oevres to the Wall and The Final Cut).

Probably contravened the BP’s rules with that version of Peaches @brianN. I heard it once on prime time Radio 1 back in the day. The DJ kept it going to the end, probably the best policy in the circumstances.

I agree, 1977 right up there and I think 1978 just as good, as both capture punk and the emergence of post punk before it all starts to go a bit electronic. Real Life by Magazine (1978) is an awesome album and this is one of the best punk singles ever.

Contractual obligation post about Angry Birds.
After 9 continuous days of running, 14-4 in version 1.6.3 did not deliver. I got 0-birders but not the scores. Bit stumped as to what version I was using in 2022. There’s a lot to choose from. Maybe 3.4.0. Sigh…

Close but no cigar.
For 1972 you could have added Harvest by Neil Young. And the first Steely Dan album! Hey, I’m on board!

Finally, back to the group that made me buy my first ever single.
Also in 1971, The Yes Album, their best IMO. Lindisfarne Fog on the Tyne, a great listen throughout and Bryter Later by Nick Drake. Shifting back to 1970 and forward to 1972 it’s pretty good too but 1971 is crazily stellar. I do…[Read more]

The Doors as well – final track of final album before Jim Morrison’s demise.
I’ll do one more then let @hunnybunny put the case for 1972.
Or not, as the case may be.
