The Kraken is loose! After a brief delay Nitrome has released a new Icebreaker: A Viking Voyage update for iOS and (finally!) Android. Go grab the update today! The new v1.2.0 update is free and includes:
- 40 brand new levels
- Spectacular boss fight
- New side quests
- All new achievements
- 8 Exclusive new Icebreaker avatars!
- Cloud saving (iOS Universal build)
While the gameplay video shows some new anatomical game aspects, including “bowel physics™” and “cavity searches.” Krakens, jellyfish, caviar and bouncing physics.. sounds like our Viking heroes are in for a challenge.
We’ll try to have walkthroughs up soon, but in the meantime, what do you think of the new update and features? Are you grossed out or loving the change? I bet those Android players amoungst us, are you excited to get your chance to play? Post your feedback below.

@Chriss — No kidding! Especially trying to get par on some of them. I’m closer to the max number of cuts than to par. : (
Looks like they have added a host of new playing strategies for this game. Glad the Nest will still carry the walkthroughs which will provide a reference when I get stuck.
@wrw01 @mvnla2 Unfortunately, it looks like we may no longer be able to cover Icebreakers after all. We are strapped for resources and there isn’t much demand. We will try, but no promises.
On another note, if anyone here knows someone who might be interested in producing video content for us please have them contact me. The need to have some decent availability during normal work hours and have a jailbroken iPad or other ability to record on iOS.

I have noticed that @mpg973 has produced some videos for posting of the strategies. Not sure about a jailbroken iPad, you may have to ask.

I just began playing. As an Android user, I need to start from the beginning: They’re just tough. I will need weeks to clear them out..
@DH-Kim — There are walkthroughs on ABN for all the levels up to Kraken. But yes, it will take you a while.
Right now i am stuck on ‘No Touching’ – no clue how to solve it. I also haven’t been able to complete ‘A Helping Hand’ although I think I know what to do, I just can’t do it. Let me know if you need any strategies on any of the levels preceding those and I will be happy to help.

I´m not good at explaining but I´m going to try my best.
On No Touching you should get the Glorious Glove on the wood piece spinning around and on the ice-block. Then the spinning wood piece will lift up the Glorious Glove (if you´re lucky) and at the same time lift up the ice-block to push up the viking into the boat.

A helping hand I actually find easier. You only need to swing the vikings into the boat using the Glorious Gloves.

Getting a second hand to grab the Viking while he is swinging and before he hits a wall and dies is not easy.
@llaurafj and @bad-piggies-2 — Agree, you need to grab both the wood piece and the ice-block. Took me many tries.

You have to grab the ball under the chest with multiple hands so it holds the ball out straight and it hits the board and knocks off the chest then cut the rope when the chest is over the boat.
When you get to “To Catch a Troll” there is a side quest. Does anyone know how to open that. I have passed “To Catch a Troll” and have all 3 coins, but am above par. I also have not completed a couple of the previous side levels.
Do you have ‘Tipping Point’? It is the first stop on the side quest, there seem to be two more but I can’t open them.
@laurafj — I can’t even see the first level on the side-quest. Did you do anything specific to open the quest, or did it just open when you got “To Catch a Troll”? I don’t have par yet on “To Catch a Troll” , and I only have 15 out of 26 possible pars on the previous levels. I will post my current status in the forum shortly. How far are you overall?
@mvnla2 Yes there is a side quest starting in “To catch a troll” and the mission in each level in the side quest is the same; catch the troll with the weird hat into a cage. To find the cage in “To catch a troll” you need to cut the rope at the right side of the viking boat and the cage will appear shortly.

@Bad-Piggies — Duh!! I caught the troll, and was so happy to find the puzzle piece, that I guess I forgot to finish the level. : (( “Sitting in the corner with a dunce cap on head.”

in the side quest there are 3 levels at the first level which is tipping point you have to catch the troll with the stove at the second level you have to catch the troll with the cannon thingy and then 3rd level will open you have to catch a troll too
@princessStella I caught the crab in Tipping Point and I got the Crabby achievement but the next level did not open. Advice?
Just curious, how’d you get the troll crab in Tipping Point? I have no idea how to do it.
Managed to pass the Brain, which is the last real level.
Still haven’t passed high vaultage, and have several levels above par, some very much so.
@mvnla2 in HIgh Vaultage you need to drag the Glorious Glove to the viking in the canon and then fire the canon and let go at the right moment the get the viking to the other canon. Or you can take the treasure chest that´s under the second canon. Sorry for my bad description anyway.
@Bad-Piggies-2 — Thanks for the reply! However, the part I’m having trouble with is getting the Viking from the second canon to the ship. You’re obviously going to tell me it’s trivial, but please embarrass me.
@mvnla2 I just waited for the viking to hit the bouncy thing and then let go og the Glorious Glove. But it was very hard finding the right timing.
I have found that shooting a high arc out of the second cannon then grab the Viking in the air and cutting the hand right before he hits the electricity will drop him on the bouncy thingy and bounce him right in the boat.
I am playing on iOS. Have you guys seen where the other three coins are for that level? Is it a hidden chest or something.

@Iceman — I don’t know where the other 3 coins are either. Would really like to know. I did manage to clear the level in 7 cuts, one above par. Did you get all 3 visible coins? How did you get the one on the right?
@mvnla2: For the third coin: high arc from second canon directly into the coin and the catch the viking before he falls into the water.
Still haven’t even seen the chest much less been able to grab or retrieve it. High vaultage is the last level I need to complete to have par and gold in Kraken!
Figured it out! Didn’t realize I could enter the cave from the first canon. Had always gone over the top & beat par by 2 w/3 coins. Have now completed Kraken!!
Mis-spoke! I was able to meet par w/3 coins thought par was 8 not 6
There is a treasure chest under the second cannon that can be taken by shooting the viking from the the first cannon into the bouncy materials gap at the bottom.
@bad-piggies-2 — Do you mean shoot into the gap from the first cannon, or from the second?

Thank you @Bad-Piggies-2! But no thanks to Rovio. What is the chance that I can get both the chest and the Viking into the boat on the same run? The odds of getting either into the boat is at most 1/10.
@Chris — I think getting the 3rd coin (far right) also falls into this highly improbably category.
@mvnla2 Your welcome! But actually Rovio isn´t part of Icebreaker any more as Nitrome now has all the rights to it.
And I have got all the coins on that level.
Still can’t find the treasure chest. Twice you said you “shot into the gap from the first cannon”. I guess I’m not sure which gap you are talking about since you specified FIRST cannon.
@bad-piggies-2. Thanks so much. That one and getting par in eggs Benedict were the trickiest ones for me but now I at 100% done. Let me know if I can offer any advise.

Hi. Yes all coins, achievements and par (except strangely “the brain” which had par as 0). Sure I will hop on tonight to help you guys out if you need. I just need access to a keyboard.
@mvnla2 and @chriss. For some reason I can’t stay signed in on the Forum page so I can’t respond there. To get Par and the Treasure Chest on Stilts, all you have to do is begin the Hands line at the bottom and left margins. There aren’t any hand icons there but you can draw the lines anyway. From that distance, the viking line is long enough to clear the circuit and the chest line is short enough to drop into the boat. I haven’t been able to get the right ‘circuit’ coin yet.
Finally got the last coin in Stilts. Nothing magical, just lots of little movements down the circuit with lots of cuts.
@laurafj — Spoke too soon. Tips for dummies like me:
* For Viking, you need to start the hands line at the bottom margin of the screen almost directly underneath the Viking, but slightly to the left.
* For the treasure chest, you need to start the line at the left margin, about where the rocks meet the edge.
@Laurafj — What platform are you on? I’m on iPad. So far the longest line drops the Viking into the circuit.

@mvnla2 I am on an ipad. If you head due south from the viking and go below the water line to the edge of your screen, the viking will clear the circuit and land in the boat.
@laurafj — Got it (see above). Still having mucho problems with 2 coins just above circuit. Any additional tips?
