Folks, there are not nearly as many cheaters as you might suspect.
Scores that jump 200 in an hour happen ALL THE TIME, and it is NORMAL. When you look at these things with the eye of a programmer, you realize that, while YOUR star count is real-time to you, updates of your opponents’ star counts is done in batches to minimize inter-player communication and the load on the servers.
In short, every action is reported to the server, but not every action is reported to the other 14 players in the arena. You will get “bulk updates”, and yes, it can look like an opponent jumped up a lot. Those 100+ stars weren’t magically inserted at all. They were built up over a series of legit-played games, the same way yours were.
If *you* play 20 matches in an hour, then someone else is seeing YOUR score jump up by 150 stars, and they think YOU are the cheater. See how that works?
And yes, I do know a little something about load-balancing game servers for hundreds of thousands of concurrent players, having worked in the online gaming industry for 12 years on a site of at least this scale, probably larger. Aggregation like that to minimize demand on servers is carefully considered, and frequently done.
