Our strategy for Birdday Party (Birthday Party) level 18-3 is to launch the White bird as low as possible, but still clearing the balloons to bomb the TNT on the left. The stones and bird should launch into the main structure, pushing it to the right. Loft the next White bird over the structure and bomb to the right of the next-to-last vertical support — directly above the last pig. Use the first Yellow bird horizontally, just above the pillar, to clear all pigs in the interior. Use the final Yellow bird as necessary. The score in the video below is 69,680.
Version 2022:
59,410 is 3 stars
I cannot get the first bird to do what it does in the video. 40 attempts and all it does is smash the square block and stay there
78330 – what f91jsw says below…..2 birds…
77680, 2 birds. First bird horizontally, drop very close just above to the column. Second bird along more or less the same trajectory. Then everything collapsed.
ty-worked first time, after trying for 2 hours-i really must get a life ;)
Yes. The four horisontal boards lie in a line. If you hit the first it can sometimes transfer the blow through the whole structure.
78.990
damn the highscore of this level is freaking me out !!
It’s manu. He’s ridiculous.
First bird drop bomb at back to destroy last diagonal and horizontal piece of wood. Second drop bomb in the front, topple the structure and bounce back on TNT for extra points. Missed a cake so 95k possible
I’d love to see a screenshot of that second shot. I’ve only gotten it once…
I managed to duplicate manu’s Magical Mystery Shot, but, being me, I managed to goof the rest of it, so a beautiful shot came to naught.
Ty manu:)
78700 first try with manu strat, at least beat average will keep trying:)ty
As long as you’re shooting the first WB that far why not take the pig out? If you drop the egg at the base of the last piece of wood it pops the pig too.
Try as I may, Manu’s second shot alludes my skill. Able to obtain the bounce back of the second White Bird on the tnt but cannot find the spot to topple the structure. Used the Yellow Bird with a straight line shot through the lower wood section to topple the structure and take out all the pigs.
It took me a loooong time to figure out the bounce back shot, still extremely difficult to do when you know how to do it.
I had the same prob as wrw01 and basically did the same thing to get my score. Gotta give this one a break! Will come back to see if I can get 80k, a lot of good strats here just can’t get my birdies to cooperate! Thx everyone for your helpful hints :)
Thank you manu malin! I tried a thousand times last time I visited this level. Tried again today and got it in about 10 minutes, but doubt I will repeat it any time soon. I got a screen shot right after the second bird, but I don’t see how it would be helpful to anyone as the structure is completely gone.
Here is the screen shot taken after 2nd bird, before score total of 90,470 (hope this link works!)
http://angrybir.de/SFmmRw
Thank you @eweber for the strat and @bonneypattycat for the screen shot. It was most helpful.
Here’s another screenshot, somewhat earlier in the process, and (comments) illustrating all elements of manu’s wonderful strategy:
http://angrybir.de/XyH8JI
(just to show the process; this shot didn’t end up in a 90k+ score; a few successful attempts later the same gave me my current score of 90,620 (didn’t get the cake). the 2nd shot is critical and difficult but quite doable (say once every 5-10 minutes) once you get the hang of it.)
He is NOT human!
Does manu have some secrets he’s not sharing, lol special bird powers;)
He shares many of his strategies in Rio. He’s just unreal.
Srry I should have read further down the post. My bad
The only thing that would be better would be if Manu had video. Oh how I wish! (and yes…he is ridiculous, in a GOOD way). :-)
1st: aim over the structure and take out the last horizontal and diagonal boards (like manu suggests)
2nd: aim low over TNT and drop to explode and aim to ricochet into the top square bit of wood.
Here, I really thought the whole thing was going down, but unfortunately, I was left with one pig and one cake…
3rd: took out the final pig and cake
4th: bonus
I didn’t get as many points as you, but this did help me gain 12,000
It took me too many tries, and I needed the 4th bird, but I eventually got 3 stars this way, so thank you! That actually was the only time I even cleared this board.
I’m so mad with this level. Errr! Only able to get 2 stars so far.
Like Many Malin’s strategy. 85k first try. Thanks many!
is this a documented glitch: one of the birthday cakes is missing from the top of the structure for game 18-3 Birdday Party. The video shows two cakes but the opening screen on my iPad shows only one. I am missing the chocolate one. I can send a screen shot of you tell me where.
It is not a glitch. The cake was consciously removed. That’s not the only one. Mind you, the 2nd cake in this level was NOT worth 3,000 points (which was a glitch in itself).
Well that just takes 1000 off my score. :(
Thank you for the explanation. I feel better knowing that I am not handicapped by not having a scoring opportunity. Thanks also for maintaining the forum. The hints have been instrumental in helping me edge my scores upward. It’s been humbling too — there are a lot of talented players out there.
I found it easier to launch both white birds straight at the structure and drop the egg out right before hitting. I beat it without using any yellow birds this way.
Take out first collum with white bird, then kill one of the farthest 2 pigs. make it so the yellow bird kills the first 3 or 4 pigs. Kill the last pig you left.
Got a one birder here, launch at the front-most wooden plank and bomb at last moment. The white bird ricochets into the first structure and pushes the whole thing.
I’m baffled, but I just got a 90k two-birder. The first bird was sent just over the pile of stones and activated just before hitting the white pillar, which exploded the TNT and stones quite forcefully (one of which happened to land fortuitously on the cake). Since the carcass took out the pillar and the wooden plank immediately above it, I sent the second bird on approximately the same trajectory, just a little higher, and also activated just before impact to push over the whole structure with surprisingly good destruction. I think the method is repeatable, but this was an abnormally high score to get from it.
Aye, maybe I did not read the key to the golden egg(s) clearly, but I must say, I am slightly disappointed to see that no eggs are given for getting three stars in every level of Birdday Party.
First bird like manu. Picked off the slanted and horizontal boards and popped the last pig. Second bird caused entire structure to slide to the right. Scored 80840. Thanks manu!
Thanks to @eweber I was able to raise my old low score by 19000 points, although I had to use one of the Yellow birds to finish pushing the structure over to the right to kill the one pesky pig still clinging to life by a thread, but now at least it looks decent on the leaderboard. Thanks again Manu.
Has anyone noticed if you hit the pillar in a certain spot it totally disappears!! No debris no nothing just poof!! I’ve done it several times with yb and then i tried it with wb.. Close to the top is just gone!!!
Yep @Kathy and I think it’s 500 pts too! OMG I am so sick of this level, I was going to hit it one more time and call it sadly done and BAM Finally I got Manus strat to work! Now I’m sooo done!! Onward I go Kathy cause I was Lucky I got it this far!!! And nice score BTW!! I see you did better too! Yeay :D
Yep me too!! Done dun dun dun dun..lol..i improved a little with manu strat..maybe another day let’s go!!
@Kimmiecv..sunuppers first..!!
Yeahhh @Kathy and I think it’s safe in BP right now too!! See ya for a SunUpper salute to moving on with better scores! :)
On bird 1, is there any reason for not bombing just past the rightmost structure? It takes out those two pieces of wood in Manu’s strategy as well as the pig, and the right wall.
just replayed the strategy for ten minutes for the daily challenge (just to check; too many things to do today) and it still works as described (got two collapses in ten minutes; first didn’t get the tnt, second didn’t get the bottom right pig).
about bombing past the structure: i think the pieces of wood falling to the right first (instead of being taken out immediately) drags the neighbouring vertical piece of wood in the main structure a bit to the right, and i was thinking (imagining?) that that was giving the structure a bit more stability hindering its later collapse. in the same way i imagined that when bombing them directly, the pig bumping into the structure was helping the later collapse by pushing the vertical piece of wood inward, to the left. anyway, iirc i had stopped trying bombing to the right, going for the easier and effective shot of bombing the pieces directly (this frequently, say 1 in 3, takes out the pig as well and may pre-damage the right wall). good luck.
@welshwitch55, your score is so much higher than the #2 I was wondering if there’s any chance it belongs to another level with the re-numbering of these levels awhile ago. If correct, absolutely great score & please share your strategy & any pics of the trajectory (ies).
It’s fixed. I haven’t entered scores in quite a while, nor have I played the challenges much in the past few months. Ignore my scores for this episode if it comes up again as I won’t have time to fix it for a few weeks. 2 kids 2 weddings 4 months apart and I’m in the homestretch for the second one.
@Stocktoad Congrats on your nice improvement! May I ask which strategy you’re using? I’m having no luck getting the main structure to even move, much less collapse. I think they added rebar during the last update. :)
@kelani I was playing with the Manu strat. It’s hard to get the bird to bounce back to the TNT, but I did it one time. I’m not sure, but my 81K might have been a 3 birder.
@kelani
I suceeded twice to perfrom manumalin strat.
The key is to lauch Mathilda as low as possible and to drop the egg as late as possible. You must both:
* have the egg explode above the column
* have Mathilda subsequently hit the pile of glass + two hollow wooden squares as low as possible
The nice thing is that once you shake the structure strong enough thanks to the above requirements, you are likely to have Mathilda to bounce far backward and hit the TNT. I think that you get both things to happen: at least you do not need to be lucky twice after your shot.
@stocktoad @sglouk thanks for the info, gentlemen. I can get Matilda to bounce back to the TNT quite often, using several different shots, but judging by what sglouk says, I’ve been dropping the egg too early & too high, and these trajectories apparently just don’t affect the structure.
FWIW the shot I’ve been mostly using is the same as @vuelva http://angrybir.de/XyH8JI It worked fine for him, so maybe it’s me, maybe it’s that shot on PC. Who knows? :)
Yep, @sglouk was right. Sending Matilda low over the column, and dropping egg very close to the stacked hollow wood block – glass block – hollow wood block makes a huge difference. It only took a few tries to get the collapse, and an 81k 2b.
For an idea of just how low to fling, when I dropped the egg, Matilda’s eyes were roughly level with the seam between the glass block and bottom hollow wood block.
yes who knows. intrigued by your comment i replayed it a bit more doing (afaik) the same as before, and had frequent collapses on ipad air, even twice back to back. the picture for my best score this time around:
https://www.angrybirdsnest.com/members/vuelva/album/picture/10733/
looks much the same as the one i posted before qua trajectory and point of release (that was taken on ipad 2 to which the pixels in its comment also refer), but didn’t get the tnt this time :-(. wouldn’t know how to drop the egg much lower than i was doing without hitting the horizontal plank, but my Mathilda-(or is it Matilda?)-precision is not that great; about half of the time i’m too late. my idea of the mechanics of this is that the carcass has to hit several of the elements in the structure simultaneously in order to bounce back, otherwise it just carries on (but would have to check this on a video recording).
Came back for the daily challenge and used Manu’s strategy @eweber . I worked on it for two hours and only got it to work 4 times. Each time the score went up from my start of 75K to my now almost 87K. Not much I can add except to read all the comments and look at the different provided screen shots especially the one by @vuelva. @elani I am not sure if what you suggest makes a difference or not I tried it both ways. It was first mentioned back in 2012 by @fidslady but I did not see any follow up comments.
Sorry mistyped @kelani in the above comment.
Has the reliability of the present Top Score (100k+) been checked? It looks unreal given the difference with the next scorers (5k). In any case, I won’t even fight for the second place. Succeeding in performing the two birder strat will be enough for me today.
Here we go again. I don’t know let me check if I entered the right scores from the right level…
@welshwitch55
There is nothing else that is unexpectedly high in your Cake level leaderboard. The score you had on this level was very likely a typo/level number error.
Cool. Thanks for checking it out for me!
@Admins, @sunshine, @mvnla2,- I’ve been playing the Challenge, off & on, since last night. A few minutes ago I was trying a different strategy, going after the tnt side first. I launched the WB,dropping the egg to the left of the column, hoping to set off the tnt. As the egg landed, the entire structure BLEW UP! There was nothing left but the carcass of the WB. This resulted in a score of 103,470. This was on my android-based tablet.
I am posting this as the new High Score (and hoping for another puppy). If you feel this is wrong, please feel free to remove or change my score. My previous score was 80,860.
There is a screen shot in my album. I tried to get a shot of the destruction, but as soon as the rubble stopped moving, the counter started.
Here’s the link;
https://www.angrybirdsnest.com/members/meanguy/album/picture/10738/
@meanguy wow – was there any of the structure left at all or just the white bird?
I’m sure I remember a few other instances of this happening on other levels where everything explodes, also on Android tablets. If there was nothing left it sounds like a glitch, but that’s up to the admins.
@karen68– There were a couple of the birthday hats & at least one of the concrete balls after the explosion. I’ve encountered partial collapses before, but this was different. As the egg landed, everything jumped straight up and went to pieces. The cake looked as if it would survive, but flew to the far right, beyond the platform, and split into pieces, just as the points counter started.
@meanguy Do you think this is a graphics / programming glitch, non-repeatable?
@amslimfordy– I really can’t say for sure,I don’t know much about graphics or programming, and it might be repeatable. I spent several hours yesterday playing this Challenge level, most of it on my android-based tablet. On one reset, the tnt exploded before any birds were launched, though it did not help my score. Later,on my PC,the far right diagonal wood piece fell flat just as the level loaded. Again,it was no help to my score. My current score happened last night,on my tablet, just after the WB dropped the egg. After posting my screen shot, strategy & score (on my PC-I still can’t send a screen shot from my tablet to ABN) I returned to the tablet, playing until the Challenge ended. The big explosion did not happen again.
As I stated in my post last night,I will understand if you dis-allow my high score. I play by the rules & expect others to do so too.
I hope this helps.
wow. amazing phenomena and score @meanguy !
your three recent top scores are that much above the others, while it doesn’t seem like you’re doing anything substantially different from what the rest of us are doing that it makes me wonder what’s going on,
is it the device, is it the os, or is it your skills (combined maybe with a streak of luck)?
(in this level your shot was described by austinrhl i think, and i myself had tried it many times without experiencing anything coming close; in 16-4 the destruction you got on your 2nd bird is unreal (although the final score is feasible i think) and what with your recent the big set up top score? there also the description of the strategy of the previous top scorer seems just the ordinary strategy, but also he’s getting (on android) consistently way higher scores than i experienced before on ipad for `the same’ shots).)
you always had many excellent scores (resulting from hard work), but it’s just that this is now three levels in a row for you where i don’t even have an idea how i could repeat what you did (to get the phenomena) or to come close , whereas this hardly ever happens to me (but may just have to get used to that).
hard to know what’s going on. to find out, except for trying to repeat it on your own device, it could also be interesting if you would (could) try to repeat these on another device/os.
@vuelva– First, Thank you. Second,I work very hard at AB Challenges. I usually play the selected level for a while before going to ABN to read strategies & look at videos. In 16-4,it was your postings,& a few others, that I used to get my score. I was on my tablet, and both shots worked beautifully. I’m also sure that there was a lot of luck involved.
As for The Big Setup 11-12,I had the top score in that level for quite a while. Then I got an AB Notification that my score had been beaten. I get these notices every now & then,but most of them turn out to be bogus. So,as I usually do,I checked out the new high score holder. This player was new to ABN but had posted several scores,so I decided to replay the level,to raise my score. It took a couple of days,but I did it. The very next day,my score was beaten,again,by the same player. So,back I went,playing again over several days,until Fate,Luck,Kismet,call it what you want,stepped in and everything worked to perfection. Since I was on my PC at the time,I got a screen shot showing the near-total destruction of 11-12. Here is the link;
https://www.angrybirdsnest.com/members/meanguy/album/picture/10694/
As for repeating my results on various devices/os, I only have a Dell PC & a Thrive (android)Tablet. Some levels play better on one, some on the other.
I hope I’ve answered your concerns.
hi again @meanguy. thanks for your quick and extensive reply. i hope my inquiry did not sound unfriendly, as it was not intended to be so. to be clear, i was and am not concerned about you or the scores in the least (otherwise i wouldn’t have asked you). but i was and am `concerned’ about my lack of understanding of the phenomena: i’m a scientist, understanding is my job; repeatability is a cornerstone of science and i would hope of AB play as well. i’m mainly interested in the etiology of things (btw i do not believe in luck, but do believe in randomness and the repetition needed to overcome it). in these levels i didn’t understand/couldn’t repeat, hence my inquiry. will play 16-4 more, some time, but will leave the other two levels alone for the moment until someone offers a better understanding of the phenomena or is able to repeat them on ios. enjoy.
@vuelva– Your inquiry did not sound unfriendly at all. Nearly every time I look at ABN to see how a level is supposed to work,I marvel at the solutions people come up with. Sometimes, even after reading & re-reading how a high score,in any level, was achieved,I often have trouble making things work. Playing AB makes me strongly believe in repetition. So often,I’ve been incredibly close to a great score, only to have the level either time itself out (usually called premature calculation by some birders)or one of my birds misses its’ mark by a pixel or two. Then it’s just repeat…repeat…repeat & hope for the best.
As a side note, it’s strategy by you and videos by the admins & @e-star that I usually look to for guidance.
@meanguy I’m working on a project that may be helpful to figuring out what causes these weird scores, so I’m just curious: What’s preventing you from getting screenshots off your Android device? If it’s been explained elsewhere, please feel free to point me there rather than explaining it again.
As for this level, If you got screenshots of the destruction, it sounds to me like all the answers are in there. We need to find a way for you to get them off the device. Btw, if there is something unusual about your device/OS that benefits scores. It wouldn’t be the first time. Blossom River #20 has a similar quirk for older iOS devices.
@vuelva You mentioned three recent high scores. 18-3 16-4. Do you remember what the third was? Just need to add it to the list. :)
@kelani– I think the third high score @vuelva referred to is The Big Setup 11-12.
In last night’s Challenge, I was so busy watching the level go to pieces, that by the time I thought to get a screen shot, the counter had started, closing out the level. All I was able to get was the final score after a reset.
As to my screen shots, I usually have no problem taking the picture on my android-based Toshiba Thrive by pressing the on button & the volume button at the same time. What I can’t make work is getting the picture into my ABN album. I’ve tried every setting I could think of, but nothing works. So, I usually just send the picture from my ‘photo’ section on my tablet, via email to myself. Then, on my PC, I transfer the pic from email to my desktop. From there, I open my ABN album & download the picture into it.
I’ve found some Thrive forums online, which is where I found out how to get a screen shot to work.
@meanguy Thanks for the info! My project involves figuring out which levels play better/worse on which platforms. I can only test PC/iOS, so Android data is a rare & valuable commodity for me. :)
As for this level, I see you’ve played a little Rio High Dive. Not sure if you’re familiar with the weird super-explosions there, but if you are, was this explosion similar? You said everything blew up, which I assume means the structure went airborne. High Dive is the only place I’ve seen anything like that. Must’ve been quite a sight. :)
btw, you’re not the only Thrive user with upload issues. I tried to help someone with that problem awhile back. The only solutions I found were:
1) Try a few different browsers, and see if the upload controls work on one of them.
2) Install Dropbox (2GB free), then enable the Camera upload feature on your tablet. When connected to wifi, every pic is auto-uploaded to the cloud. You can then grab it with PC and send to ABN. It saves the step of emailing it, but may not be any faster in the end.
@kelani– I have played a bit of Rio High Dive,(one of these days I’ll have to enter all my scores),but so far, nothing weird has happened.
When I said blew up,I meant it. As the egg dropped into the space to the left of the pillar, everything jumped up & to the right, and the screen shook like when the Bomb Bird detonates. I play with the audio turned off so I can’t tell you what the sound effects were like. I’ve seen partial explosions in other levels, but nothing like the near total devastation of this one. Two party hats, one concrete ball,& the carcass of the WB were all that remained.
Thanks for the possible help with my Thrive. I’ve tried the different browsers approach. The Dropbox idea is new to me. I’ll have to look into it. Thank you !!
@kelani– I checked out Dropbox,as you suggested. After playing with it for a while, it seems to be what I need to upload pictures to my ABN album on my tablet.
THANK YOU !!!
@meanguy No problem, man. I’m glad that helped you out. Let me know if you come across any more of those explosive levels :)
@admins– Yesterday,10/2/14, I received an email from ABN telling me that my High Score in Birdday Party,Cake 2,level 18-3 had been beaten…by over 23,000 points! This is impossible. On Aug.26/27 this level was the Challenge of the day. In my posts from that day you can read that I got my score thru a fluke explosion of the level on a reset. Now,some newbie flinger is claiming to have beaten my score by an even more impossible score.
As I always do when notified by ABN that one of my High Scores has been surpassed, I checked out this player,”nottsonice”. According to their profile, this player became an ABN member on 10/2/14,yet has posted scores on many of the Angry Birds (original) levels, and has claimed at least 4 High Scores in this level. Another of their claimed high scores is in BP,Cake 2,level 18-14,where this players score is more than 18,000 points higher than second place.
Admins please check this out. THANKS
Thanks @meanguy. I think this was actually an innocent mistake of the user placing their “Cake 4” scores under “Cake 2”.
@amslimfordy– I just got another email from ABN telling me that once again the player identified as nottsonice has taken the top spot for BP 18-3 and by the same exact impossible score . This player is also listed ,again,as having the High Score for this level. Without power-ups I don’t think this score is possible. Please look into this, again.
Figured it out :) Thanks @meanguy
@admins– Just like on Oct 3,this morning I received an email from ABN saying that another player,’kostas’,has reported an impossibly high score for this level. After checking this person’s other scores, they have listed a total of 7 high scores in BP and one other in a different level, all of which seem not possible. According to this player’s profile,he/she has been an ABN member for only 5 days, recording hundreds of scores. They may not know that using power-up scores is not allowed. Please look into this. Thank you
Thanks @meanguy
@repanask be aware that power up scores are not allowed on our Leaderboards – I removed your score (124,060)
@sal9– Thank you
93540/2. New strat here. I didn’t have any luck with rebounding Matilda, so I just lobbed her to the bottom hollow wooden block on the left without dropping the egg. Sometimes just her weight will topple the whole structure for one-birder.
I didn’t get my high score with a one-birder though.
The first bird in that case just caused the structure to lean to the right. I found that if the structure stays leaned instead of righting itself, it is worth throwing bird #2 at it. So I threw it just over the lip into the column, dropping the egg at the last second. That set off the TNT and the whole structure collapsed to the right with enough damage for a good score.
