BOOOOM!!!! An official web version of Angry Birds is now available for FREE! Chrome users can install it as an app via Google Chrome Web Store (direct link to Chrome Web Store), but if you head to chrome.angrybirds.com in Firefox — or any other HTML5 compatible browser — it also works. Note, for obvious reasons it DOES NOT work on mobile devices.
If you need help getting started or with the control scheme check out our getting started video. The controls seem similar to the PC and Mac, so you might want to check out our Angry Birds PC & Mac control guide.
Here are a few details:
- Launches with 70 levels
- There are 7 exclusive “Chrome Dimension” levels (walkthroughs coming soon) that are unlocked by finding Chrome Logos in Poached Eggs (links to our guide that will show you how to find all these logos).
- At this point we don’t think there are any Golden Eggs, as there is no Golden Egg menu item.
- Supposedly there are something called “Chrome Bombs”, though we’re not sure what these are yet
- Per Rovio, it looks like the Mighty Eagle will be available as an in-app purchase through the Chrome Web store, though it’s not available yet. That’ll make Angry Birds Chrome the first platform other than iOS to have access to the Mighty Eagle’s destructive powers.
- The web version of Angry Birds was built in WebGL and has Canvas support, so there may be additional browser support down the road.
- To help optimize the performance on your machine you can select SD or an HD version in game.
Below are a couple screenshots we grabbed. Don’t forget, if you need helping finding the logos to unlock the Chrome Dimension levels check out our guide.
Does anyone know if the progress is saved ‘in the cloud’? I.e. if I start on Chrome at work (during lunch of course) can I continue on Chrome at home? or is the progress only per browser? I’m guessing it’s per browser since I don’t see a login or identification process that would be necessary for some sort of cloud storage.
i dont think so. seems like you will have to start over. i wish though that you could continue if you were signed in. sadly that doesnt work.
No it saves data I closed google chrome and opened it again and everything saved
It is not stored in the cloud. I know because Firefox asked me if the web page was allowed to store data on my computer.
Looks like the “Chrome Dimension” levels are unlocked by finding Chrome logos within Poached Eggs. I found ones in 1-16 and 1-20. Happy Hunting!
also one on 1-18
Indeed, just found it. Theme seems to be: Look Up!
and on 2-4 and 2-20
Last one is behind slingshot on 3-14
Perfect, Franklin, I missed that one.
Easy one on 3-7
how did you open the chest?
I don’t think you can.
We’ve got a complete guide up that shows the location of all the Chrome logos so far. Thanks to everyone who helped us find them.
found four.
I’ve found all of them! but I can’t get the one on Level 2-20 — It’ so hard to get, I’m using the White Bird but I still can’t get it :(
Have you looked at our Chrome Dimension walkthrough page? If you click an image it’ll actually show you the trajectory and some instructions on how to get the logo.
Might be a little easier if I could figure out how to zoom out for those chrome logos – esp the one on 1-20. Any idea how to do that?
Scroll wheel on the mouse.
That’s a problem for me, I’m ‘working’ on a laptop, and the ‘pinching motion’ that works on a Mac doesn’t work on my PC.
The trackpad has a “scroll wheel” along the right side of the pad. It’s jerky, but should work.
You can also use the Up Arrow on the keyboard to zoom out.
YES!! THE UP/DOWN KEYS WORK!! THANKS A BUNCH!
Going to chrome.angrybirds.com works on Opera browser also
The game wont even let me open up level 1
Did you solve this problem? I am experiencing the same thing.
I get exactly the same problem. It has worked twice before, but today it doesn’t want to know, just like countless other times I’ve tried. It’s very odd.
Have you tried clearing your browser cache and cookies? HTML5 uses something called LocalStorage, which can be cleared In Chrome by selecting, “Delete cookies and other site data”. Try this then close the browser and try again.
This doesn’t work on any Mac.
Yep doesn’t work on my imac either.
it does work on iMac, I have a 27″ and it works perfectly – uninstall and install it agiain and see if it works =D
In Firefox 4.0.1., I get a pop-up that says, “This website (chrome.angrybirds.com) is asking to store data on your computer for offline use.”
I wonder if that is it saving your game on your computer.
Yeah, it’s probably using HTML5’s local storage.
Very nice, actually upped one of my high scores when running through the Chrome version. Now I’ve got to worry about multiple platforms when working on new scores, lovely. Go Rovio!
hey this may be a dumb question bu does anyone know how to get a level in full view on chrome? I’ve tired but i am coming up with blanks. I would appreciate the help.
Not sure this is possible, as this may cause rendering and performance issues. If you figure it out do let us know.
I’ve found that using IE9 everything is smoother and quicker than with chrome
Anyone find the web version laggy, even on SD? My computer isn’t particularly old, with Athlon II x2 250, 4GB ram and ATI 4350. I tried IE9, SRWare 11 and Firefox 3.6, and the performance was in that order too.
Yeah, it feels a bit laggy to me too. But actually that is about the amount of lag I play with when I’m recording walkthroughs on my iPhone 4 as well. Hope it’s something they can speed up/update for us!
am i the only one who thinks Angry Birds going to google is somewhat weird? they have always been BING pushers, as seen in the ingame buttons, ads, 4 websodes and other places … why give so much time on a google chrome version after all that was given to Microsoft?
just wondering
Rovio has loads of Bing Episodes so they’re probably partnered with Google or something :?
What the hell is going on? Im sitting here clicking on level one and it wont OPEN!
Same here, I posted above regarding this as well. Seems it’s an issue with a few people.
I posted a response to a comment above that you might want to try. Not saying it’ll work, but worth a shot.
Am I the only one finding the Chrome version of Poached Eggs level 2-12 freaking impossible to three-star?
I did it, but only by switching to the SD version. I don’t know why it was so much easier on SD than HD, but if you get stuck give SD a shot!
Check out the video walkthrough (second level in the video). You have to complete it with three birds.
I believe 2-12 is impossible with the Google Plus version, I have three stared everything else…..the second strut is wood.
Not impossible. I just finished 3-starring all of Poached Eggs on G+. I will admit, this was my last level. Just keep at it. It is more difficult, but the same basic strategy.
I think you might be having the same problem I am. In the chrome version there is one stone slate and one piece of wood as the center blocks, but in all of the walkthroughs I see it is two pieces of stone and you are expected to make the one that is wood in my version fall over and kill the pig. Wood doesn’t do that.
Yes, the level is slightly different than the video, but the basic strategy holds. Just involves a little more luck.
i installed google chrome and angry birds played. After I shut it off came back logged back in thru chrome browser and into apps and will not let me play angry birds just says that its installed what do i need to do to be able to actually play it now that i installed it?
Have you tried opening up a new tab and clicking the Angry Birds icon?
thanks that worked
Not sure about y’all, but on 2-8 when I killed all the pigs for the first time it said level failed…
Worked the 2nd time…
My progress is not saved when i close the browser. how can i save it?
try bookmarking the game, it worked for me. windows xp chrome browser.
Has anyone else noticed that level 2-21 goes crazy, resizing and turning upside down? I wondered if it was just my computer?:)
Weird. I have not seen this.
I just noticed that 3-5 in chrome is different than the intel app. the intel version has stone on the top and the chrome version is glass(ice). the intel version has 5 red birds(chrome has 3) and 4 fewer pigs. I know the total points may be the same, but I am not sure if the ice blocks are the same points as the stone pieces. I don’t know if any other levels are different, I haven’t played the chrome version much yet. The fact that I noticed these differences may mean that I need to get off the computer and do something else for a while:).
What do we do when the next chapter of chrome is release.(How do we get the update?)
For Chrome you won’t have to update, it will just magically appear. No word on when the next Chrome update will be though.
Is there a high score chart anywhere on the web for chrome?
I don’t understand what you’re asking. A leaderboard? With only 7 Chrome Dimension levels, I think it will be some time before we see that leaderboard here on ABN.
The levels in Angry Birds Chrome match that of of Angry Birds, so you’d use that leaderboard. Like AMslimfordy said, it will probably be a little while before there are boards for the dimension levels. We are working on getting the Golden Egg levels integrated as we speak.
How to Uninstall Angry Birds Chrome – http://youtu.be/jpqKXAMMnBE. Don’t know why you would want to, but you know.. some people might want to
Rio now available!!!
Though not an official version, just a Chinese flash version. With lots of pop-ups.
I would steer clear of this if I were you.
How do i access angry birds from google chrome
Actually the post above explains most of it. We will also have the link to the “getting started” video fixed shortly
How can I save my progress in AB Chrome?
By the way, a video on youtube sais that Mighty Eagle has landed on AB Chrome.
I believe Chrome saves on its own, but I’m not really sure. To learn how to backup progress, click here
Here are 2 articles with the BIG AB Chrome updates:Might Hoax and Danger Above
I just started playing Chrome, I love the Chrome Dimension levels. Congrats to Rovio for always keeping it fresh.
