Our strategy for Angry Birds Surf and Turf level 19 is to fling the boomerang bird to far end of the boat, taking out the three pigs on the far right. Now finish off the remaining two pigs by launching the yellow bird low at the first pig. The score in the video below is 51,320.
Version 2022:
This was done with the Facebook app. Umm, not sure if it can be done the same way with ABO or not, but obviously it would worth a shot. It can increase your score by nearly 20k. Sorry I do not have a way to do video capture with my iPad. If you have any suggestions that can help me out, then feel free. Is there an app for it?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P96scXAbG3o
Update… NO you can’t do this in ABO. The boomerang bird flies back way too straight. I truly believe that a Facebook user with power ups has a huge advantage over any ABO user whether they use power ups or not.
With that said, the strat in the video is your best option. Two-bird method. What you don’t get with the boomerang bird, you pick up with the YB.
@dollarbill2008, the short answer to your question is “No, sorry. iPads are wonderful but Apple’s legal department most likely has a cow every time someone suggests allowing a screen recorder in the App Store.” The long answer is a “Yes, if you are willing to jailbreak your iOS device, which is a major Bozo No-No, unless you are one of those people who drives around and flaunts your disregard of the law by running red lights, going through the Express Lane at WalMart with 21 items items in your cart and refusing to use sunscreen despite having red hair, blue eyes and butt-white skin. First, you must violate the Apple license agreement and jailbreak your iPad, which is a huge hassle and could cause major problems down the road. Plus, did I mention that you will be breaking the law? Using an app called Cydia (?) you can put non-App Store apps on your device, at your own risk, of course.” That said, there are several members of the Nest who supply us with our stash of AB vids. They would be a better resource, no doubt, but don’t say you weren’t warned. I’ve heard that jail broken iPads have been used by the CIA to spy on unsuspecting juvenile delinquents who think that recording a two-day long Words With Friends match is “wicked cool.”
By no means am I looking to debate whether or not jailbreaking ones iOS device is a wise or unwise decision, but just so you are clear if you are in the USA it is 100% legal to jailbreak your device. Under the DMCA (Digital Media Copyright Act) jailbreaking your iPhone is legal in the United States, however Apple states that it could void your warranty.
Thanks guys, both of you!
I know nothing about jailbreak but it sounds a lot like..breaking rules or to put it bluntly cheating..what fun is that?
I didn’t see this thread. As Donn said, jail breaking is 100% legal in the USA. Yes, Apple claims it voids your warranty but there is some debate as to how true this claim actually is. Plus, you can “unjailbreak” at any time. The only major drawback is that you typically run an iOS version behind for a little while while teams work on a JB.
If you have any more questions feel free to PM me.
Sorry for the confusion. My “against the law comment” regarding jailbreaking was supposed to be tongue-in-cheek but ended up being more like foot-in-mouth. I keep meaning to add a disclaimer to all my advice posts on here, something to the tune of Warning: the person claiming to be surfcow is not an intelligent animal pretending to be a human pretending to be a lawyer pretending to be from somewhere other than Kansas. aue (au [WEH]`), @surfcow! You’re cracking me UP! I suspect you have plenty of lau-lau and poi that brings out your humorous nature. Please don’t stop, I love it! Mahalo nui loa.
You’re comment “refusing to use sunscreen despite having red hair, blue eyes and butt-white skin.” made me chuckle. (except I have green eyes)
Much easier to use first boom bird around and in from the right just over the wheel…Then use next yellow bird to finish up on the left for a two birder…
Sorry, the instructions above are not the same as the video…The video is the more difficult method…
On some levels, we offer two different solutions.
There’s a sweet spot hiding in that vertical column on the front deck of the paddle wheel boat. Either that or I found out where the termites are having lunch. You need to send green bird so it hits just above the lowest section, and it will slice through the deck of that boat faster than a Russian female cyclist on testosterone is booted from the Olympic Games. You will have ~ 22,000 points and three or four birds remaining, at most. If you hit the spot, the larger cement square will have fallen straight down and be resting on the vertical wood piece. Then just use the yellow bird twins to make sure this swine steam ship never sails again. Disclaimer: I keep muffing the second shot so my score is only ~50,000 points. But don’t let the score fool ya cuz I’m actually pretty good at this here Angry Birds thang. Just need to find my iPad stylus so my shots aren’t slamming into the ground or zooming way off the screen without hitting anything. Aloha. P.S. I know you’re tempted to use the Reverse-Remi on that first fling. Don’t bother.
Hey @surfcow – nice writeup – can’t wait to try it out.
But – don’t let @remi3241 hear you dissing his famous shot…
Tsk, Tsk. @sufrcow, some of the things you say, big dog. MmmmUmmmm. Am worried about your sanity. Step away from the birds. FREEZE, do not move. Big Brother is watching.
Thanks for this tip. Got it after 3 tries. Hit the vertical post which wipes out almost everything finish of the remaining pigs with two yb. 56600.
Lol the reverse remi is the first shot I tried before coming here @surfcow obviously it didn’t work or I wouldn’t be here searching for paraghraphs of hidden message hints;) so.in layman’s terms where is the sweet spot?
Ty @surfcow. After I had the cia decipher your post I found the swweet spot:) keep up the laughs! !:)
Everyone knows the sweet spot is located just opposite the sour spot which is right below the salty spot and always underneath the ink spot. Duh. I worry about you sometimes, @kathy. So, in layman’s terms can you please explain what “layman’s terms” means? Thanks a bunch. Aloha.
Aren’t those terms that are used by those who are not men of the cloth?
Ohh my we? Are speaking of concrete wooden breakage point and strength of birdies.
what the heck
Are you two speaking off? @surfcow help me out here. Lol..
Just sounds inappropriate lol
@surfcow, thank you for giving me a good laugh as I try to conquer this level :). I have been trying this method, but so far I am not getting the first shot just right.
To be honest, I never try the reverse remi shot first. When I see green birds, my first thought is “throw those suckers as fast as you can and hold your breath”.
Now, a deep breath,… and back to the slingshot :).
ok i are confoozled. i see this mentioned a lot….but i am still kinda new here…what the blue heck is a Reverse-Remi?
@spdlives the reverse remi invented by a famous sharpshooter you simply shot boomer backwards away from the along shot any tap screen to bring him back art target..kinda tricky but with practice its pretty cool..i suggest a slight angle off the sling so he doesn’t bump the bird loading up…good luck:)
oh ok. i been doing that for a while myself. nothing more embarrassing than hitting chuck with boomerang. chuck no likey
this by the way is now my second most hated level. the most? surf and turf 24. I swear the physics are different on PC. I can’t get 3 stars and i am only 20 points shy.
Just hang in there and keep flinging JackS @spdives See my comments a little farther down on the page regarding PC’s on this level. I think quite a few people don’t realize how many hours the top shooters put in to get the great scores. Sometimes it is just a fluke shot, but it still usually takes lots of repetitions to get that one great shot. Surf and turf 24 is another level that is tough in a way similar to this one. The first shot is easy, but requires luck to get rid of all or most of the pigs. The second shot is tough (especially from underneath through the glass) and requires a good amount of luck. Persistence pays off though, I scored 107,880 on the level with a PC.
As noted above by Richard, the written description of the strat says “fling the boomerang bird to far end of the boat, taking out the three pigs on the far right” but the video shows the boomerang bird being lobbed into the left side of the ‘boat’
Tough level.
Am I the only person playing this on PC? None of these strategies even come close to getting me 3 stars.
Ok for those playing on PC, I got it. Fling the boomerang bird at about a 60 degree angle and wait til the last minute to hit the button, sending the bird crashing through the thick board directly beside the big pig. This, with some practice, will take out the 3 right side pigs. Then you can angle a yellow bird at a similar angle to the boomerang bird in the video above, taking out the last 2. Score 51750.
There doesn’t seem to be many of us playing on PC…….I don’t have any idea if this level is more difficult on PC than other platforms, but it isn’t the easiest level that’s for sure. The shots in the video are possible to do on the PC. I have done them. The problem is that all three shots are difficult, and all three need to be good. The first one especially. It takes maybe 20 tries to get one perfect shot. If you don’t take out both the left pig and the complete barrel just like the video, the rest won’t work very well. The second shot should take out the other barrel, but if it doesn’t it is possible to still get the last shot. That being said…I really think the other method of taking out the rear of the boat first is easier. (but not easy) Score 52310 (on a PC)
I *came* to AB from a PC but after getting my first touchscreen tablet I gave it up. Shots that are an intuitive snap on the tablet can be a nightmare on a PC. A mouse just doesn’t seem responsive enough to me.
I realize I am replying 3 months after your question, but I do want to say that I feel playing on a PC can give you scores comparable to other platforms. That said. I followed ernor63’s strategy to obtain my present score. I was able to get 30k+ after the first shot. It does take practice to get the trajectory and release point correct for the white bird, but eventually practice does pay off. Good luck!
Correction – change white bird to green bird. Does age count as an excuse for errors? LOL!
53950 similar to ‘nbdynprtcular’ post above. That is the way I di this level on Facebook with a comparable score.
54,180 lob the green bird high and then turn him just as he ends the darker green trees. He will take out the far end. Then fire the yellow thu the front side killing the last two pigs.
I am using an iPad not sure it matters, but some platforms seem different in how they react.
Good luck, hope this may help.
Thank you!!! This strategy was definitely the best, 3 stars on my second attempt…
This is the technique that FINALLY got me 3 stars. The walk-through video relays on too much luck, IMHO.
Sorry, I meant to reply to Bell259’s description, not start my own. I got 52,280 with that technique.
Thank youuuuuuuu! I tried to pass it on my own, but it didn’t work. one more time thanks!
Basically followed the video from left to right with the birds. Found that if the yellow birds are activated right from the sling their destruction appears to be greater. The long stone plank provided the challenge in getting the pigs on the right. Had to wait till it landed in a position that did not block access. This one was hard to obtain a good score. Relieved to havd made it above average.
Another tough level but I managed to find the “Sweet Spot”. Here’s a screen shot of the first bird shot yeilding over 26K:
http://angrybir.de/QUwBDl
As you can see there were only two pigs left afterwards. I was able to repeat if quit a few times by aiming at this exact spot. I hope it helps anyone trying to obtain above average with out the use of PU’s ;-)
For the second shot you want to send YB with just a slightly higher trajectoy aiming for the first hollow empty square and the barrel, but be careful not to hit the little square cement pieces. They can really mess up your shot. I found you definately need the barrels damaged or completely gone for a higher score.
For the third shot it kinda depends on where the long cement plank lands because as @wrw01 mentioned above, it can really get in the way. When I got 54230 it fell down and gave me a clear enough shot to get the last two pigs but on my highest score of 56430, it was blocking a good shot which it often does so I had to come up with a new plan, lol. I chose to send YB in a high arch to come in from above and with his speed boost he cut through the wood and got the last two piglets and some nice “debris” points. I’m glad to be done with this one for a while ;-) I hope this will be helpful to a few of you ;-)
Ahhh, the long ceee-ment plank, is indeed the unmistakable key to unlocking this painful puzzle. This level would be so easy if that solid plank weren’t protecting those pigs on the right. One way to take it out of play is by using Green Bird to undermine it. The sweet spot shot I was trying to describe does precisely that, and it even has potential to pop one or both of the pigs over there. Until I can post a screen cap of the shot, here’s a brief explanation/review. Aim green slightly above horizontal. There is no room for error on this one; it has to be pixel-perfect, as the pros call it. Green takes out that smokestack at the front and then punches through deck and causes cement plank to drop into the hole that is made (along with a pig or two if lucky.) My screenshot (TBP) shows a score of >27,000 with three pigs left: two at left and one below at right. You will know if your aim is correct by what remains of smokestack once the bird has plowed through it. All you should see is the lowest vertical wood plank still upright with the small square cement block sitting nicely on top of the plank. That and a big gouge taken out of the middle of the boat with the ceee-ment plank out of the way for any vertical assaults needed to finish off the pigs from above. (@lesleyg and several others) Aloha.
P.S. Will post visual aid, ASAP.
Sigh…@surfcow, the things I do for you big dog….my my do you owe me, or what???? Have uploaded your screen shot to my album. Don’t know how to post the link here…?? The pic you emailed me was big and I didn’t know if I could upload the whole thing here, so I made it smaller in Photoshop, then I tried uploading the larger one you sent and it came in OK. So, am going to try to post a link. If this doesn’t work ITS @SURFCOW‘s fault!!
https://www.angrybirdsnest.com/members/twylatime/album/picture/903/
@Twylatime — Thanks! That confirms my suspicion that AA and surfcow have found different sweet spots! Managed to make it above average, so will try again another day.
I think we do have two different “Sweet Spots” ( I don’t know how to make my text bold so I’m just not as cool as @surfcow so I have to use quotation marks)…indeed the ceee-ment plank is a debby downer, however… I did get it to fall left a few times but and a bid BUTT it is, tee hee…I seemed to get repeated better scores with MY “Sweet Spot Shot”….
“My Sweet Shot’s better then your shot, my Sweet Shot’s better then yours…da da da… my shot’s better ’cause it scores higher so my shots better then yours” da da…
Disclaimer: This was my attempt at a “Truffle Shuffle” of the jingle..da, da, da represents the music..it originated from an old television commercial…end disclaimer ;-)
Ken-L-Ration commercial…does that make me really old or what?
I’m not gonna say yes, because then I’d have to include myself in that particular subgroup. But…l :-)
@lesleyg – for bold text use the STRONG tags.
Still a fan of throwing the green bird to the right side and taking out those pigs first. A great score is 30k and then finish up with a line drive yellow bird to get the front two pigs.
That’s how I do it and got 59k/2b 32k after 1st. I know manu has 59k/3b so both ways looks equal.
@ernor63 — I didn’t ask you, because I don’t really know you. But more precise directions would be much appreciated. Thanks.
Sure, here are two shots that yielded 58K. Very repetable shots once you find the line and aim. I have my reference points in the background but they vary from plattform or HD/SD so you have to find your own. (on my best I had 32 after 1st.)
1st Shot
2nd Shot
Somehow the links to your shots didn’t show up???
I hate that we can’t edit these post. I should have said thanks first. even if I can’t see the shots. You are obviously trying to help. HELP!
Fixed. There was no text between the hyperlinks.
The ability to edit comments would be nice, but it also creates a real moderation issue, hence why we don’t allow it.
@ernor63 thanks for these screen shots. I was playing this full screen and was not able to get he angle right on the green bird. By zooming in and using your first shot’s arc, was able to get into the 58k range. Thanks!
@eweber @donnmega — Notice that there aren’t any real high score strats posted. Can you help?
@thetoddman23 — Finally got above average using your strat, or maybe I should call it bell59’s. However, more details would help. How high do you lob green, and where exactly does he hit? How on earth did you get 30K on first shot?
@lesleyg and @surfcow — Are you too talking about the same sweet spot? I get the impression not??? Sounds like surfcow’s sweet spot is higher than AA’s??? Either way, I couldn’t get it to produce a nice high score.
@mvnla2 – I used the same strat as @Ernor63 31-32k 1st, boomer to the back, use the horizon as a guide. should leave you with just the 2 pigs up front. 2nd is obvious, but aggravating as there is little room for error.
@mvnla2 – fully zoomed in, I aim the slingshot so it follows the bottom of the light colored part of the rock in the background and then activate the bird when it gets a little into the trees in the background. Pretty much like DonnMega and ernor have said (although I may aim a little higher than they do). Anyways, multiple angles should work you just have to be patient for the damange to be done and things to fall right to hit 30k and then nail the second shot. Good luck.
Thanks both! Will have to try some more, but after I get through back to school. Really tried to get above average in all of S&T before it came out, but wasn’t able to.
OK, this is how I did it. Launch the green bird into the air on a reasonably high arc to the right side. When it starts to come down tap the screen so that the bird hits the bottom wooden block taking out the two pigs and doing damage to the middle as well as taking out the pigs. The only pigs left after this are the two in the front. Send the yellow bird into the corner bend at the very front and it should take out the two front, score was 52,120. It takes awhile but the first green bird shot must be precise in order to clear the right side.
The last frame in surf ant turf that I’m below average. Have spent ages trying to find the sweet spot. From the left and the right approaches.
Have not been able to get this mystery 30k from 1st shot.
Oh winge gods please help me out to get an above average score in this frame.
Ok this is day 3 on this one and I still can’t get 1star just to move on. Please help me. I am
tempted to purchase the mighty eagle and get it over with. I’m tired and I’m too old for this.
Same here. I can not go anyfurther because i can’t get 1 star….
Why is my Angry Birds showing up with what I think is German instead of English? Rio, Star Wars, Seasons, and Space are all still in English. Do you think my daughter found a button to push and pushed it? She doesn’t read so to her is was no different, the birdies still flew. Thanks
If you are using iPhone or iPad, go to Settings on the device, then “Angry Birds (HD)”, then “Language”. Change from Deutsch to English.
Thanks to everyone who shared strategies, tips and even photos on this thread (if only it was always so!), and to @surfcow for the laugh. AngryAdvisor @lesleyg posted a very nice photo of Yellow Bird and it’s “sweet spot” and @ernor63 graciously posted photos of both birds, though for the Green Bird one could not see the whole picture. I decided if I ever got lucky, I would snap a fully zoomed out picture. This is on an iPad, HD version:
http://angrybir.de/YB3rNA
Basically, I fling Green at the same angle as the rock in the background, then reverse slightly below the horizon.
Now, if we could get Top Scorer @ktgnfr with a whopping 69k to share :)
I did it using methodical destruction from the left like in the video.
Here is the first bird: http://angrybir.de/190RPWG
Here is the second bird: http://angrybir.de/190SkAb
And the result after the 3rd bird: http://angrybir.de/14PYZjJ
Nothing fancy here, just brute force and luck to get a decent score: http://angrybir.de/14PZb2i
However I have strictly no idea how @panolo and @ktgnfr managed to get 66k and 69k. Wow! I would like to have clue here.
@asher. After messing with this level for a while, I am nearly certain that all the highest scores were two-birders. So it appears that getting the three right side birds with the first shot is the way to go.
I can’t pull the green bird back far enough to get momentum on my ipad. Any suggestions?
This video was recorded on iPad. It matters where you hit the structure.
This level is an infamous level for me. When I sucked at the game, I was trying to beat this level badly. But nothing would work. One day, I loaded up the level, and I saw this: nothing. The only things that were there were the background, the floor, the birds, and the slingshot, there were no pigs or the structure. I somehow 3 stared it though.
holy hell it took me like 100 tries just to COMPLETE this (for an amazing 1-star score)
