Our strategy for Angry Birds Star Wars Tatooine level 1-18 is to launch Han Solo towards the back of the pile. Aim your Blaster at the piece of junk on the right, and shoot it at the very last second. Han should find his way through the blocks, and roll towards the tnt box below. The explosion should destroy all the pig-troopers.

The key to success seems to be that droid boot (or whatever it is) that sits above the bush. Whenever I don’t hit it, I am slowed down enough that I get pinned by the glass; it doesn’t guarantee a 3-star, but it seems to help. Aim for the boot!
FINALLY got it once I got the boot thing. Thanks for the tip!
56730 – Same general shot as the video, but I got better results by aiming at or near the TNT box. Again, activate late and let the structure take care of blowing the TNT.
After repeating for 56880, the aim is just to the right of the trooper pig that is on top of the TNT. The TNT blows, and the structure folds. I just wish it would fold a little more for points.
This is exactly what I did for 57k (fourth on the leaderboard), so I have to think it’s the best strategy.
Thank you!! Your description was perfect. I was at this stupid level for too long!
Would agree that this seems to be the best strategy for this level. Earned 56k after the first few tries, but could be very well increased. Thanks Liam! :)
Yup, that helped me improve too. Thanks!
Has anyone else noticed that falling debris that doesn’t break or splinter won’t raise points as in other chapters of AB?
@WereWolf69: I have. Not sure if it’s a scoring glitch or intentionasl. If intentional, it’s unfortunate.
All: The metal cage around the TNT will frustrate you no end. Practice and patience, young Jedi.
I noticed that as well. It’s almost as if Rovio was giving greater weight to the overall look than to playability. Surely, the goal wasn’t merely to produce eye candy, and little else?
since this game has so much “aiming” it is pretty difficult on a laptop with a touch-pad,time to invest in a mouse or stick to touchscreens.
@kcox2116, In this case “A Mouse is Man’s Best Friend”, I also have a Laptop and find that it helps immensely.
There’s nothing like a mouse for precise aiming instead of my fat fingers. That being said, I’m spinning in the wind here as my TNT damage isn’t enough to push me above the minimum. Shot after shot leaves me a little short.
You know it’s a tough-scoring level when the average is less than 2000 above the 3-star level and the high score is less than 4000 above the average. I’ll try this annoyance later.
A somewhat repeatable strat for 57k+: on iPhone, aim through the V-shaped notch in the clouds in the background. When Obi lands in the empty V-shaped area above the right-hand stormtrooper, fire down and slightly left targeting the TNT. With luck Obi will drop down with enough force to trigger it.
@Rob48 — What level are you describing? There are no Obi Wans on 1-18.
@mvnla2 Sorry I meant Han. I get mixed up with the names (I must be one of the few people in the world who has never seen Star Wars!). The old-fashioned “red bird, blue bird” etc was much easier!
@rob48 Ty for the strat:) you are not the only one lol, i did see the original years ago, but that’s it lol:) uhmmm my bird just grew hair and a beard or was that already there and i didn’t notice, should i take that as a sign I’ve been trying this level to long lol?
tuff level for sure, and then becomes rather easy i guess…. anyhow, i am just here to comment on the minimun 3 star score needed… maybe someone can back this up, or maybe it’s been noted already but not changed…
I believe i had 54,000 and change and didnot have 3 stars — maybe my game was a bit screwy and I know the cutoffs are almost always (if not all the time) a multiple of 1,000…. still i think this one may be 54,500 or something like that… I’m sorry i can’t provided the exact 2-star score i had but i think it was 54,040….. cheers!
Shoot Han in a low angle into the wood below the two stoneblocks. As it almost reaches the concrete bar fire at the tnt below.
@bernersenn Congrats on the current top score and thanks for posting your strat. Got another 1,500 points with it.
I’m glad to help you @HallieGInSB
Thx,always thought Han can crush more wooden planks,59690
@bernersenn totally awesome method, my ranking went from the 800’s to 14, thank you.
@joey29, glad to help.
Never mind i figured it out great alternate strat:)!! Raised my score on first try after figuring out out:)
@bernersenn @hallieginsb can you be more specific? What 2 stone blocks?
It’s the double stone blocks in the middle on top. Send Han just beneath the slanted wood plank that is underneath and on the left of these blocks. You’ll be firing straight down on the tnt, and start firing after he has passed through 2 planks and before he hits the third. I’m glad I got a good score this way a while back, ‘cuz I can’t get over 58k with it now!!!
@hallieginsb ty lol same here i figured it out ..it’s kinda a fun level but challenging i got 58k
But i want more..heehee like the little girl in the t.v. Ad more is better..i think I’ve hit my limit though thanks for the help:)
Wwooot!!! As soon as i posted that last ‘i want more’ lol i got more:)
I initially managed a 910 increase with Chimichangachick (see far below), on my Android phone during today’s Challenge, but frustration kicked in & I once again tried @bernersenn as expounded upon by @HallieGinSB & managed another 1250 to creep into Top 50 for now with 59770. I’m bound & determined to break 60k & as the snow temporarily paralyzed auto travel today, I’m going to stay home & keep flinging ; -)….Thanks you two
…so close yet so far to a puppy ….. this is an official whine after trying both bernersenn &
mecstaveler
@kathy, there is that stone block, it holds 2 squares. Shoot Han between the two wooden pieces, just under those stoneblocks. When you are above the tnt fire at the tnt. Good luck
Oops, saw that you already figured it out. Nice score
Thanks @bernersenn :) i got #2 spot!! :)
@kathy, as mentioned, well done. Hope to see you in the new Seasons.
@bernersenn thank you for the awesome strat!! @halliegensb can’t thank you enough for the detailed aiming points of this strat making it easier to, well not easier it did take quite a few tries! But certainly made a big difference on where to keep trying!! :)
@Kathy and bernersenn amazing scores!! Congrats! :)
Thanks @bernersenn
Same strategy, 60k!
As Han’s power is upgraded, it improved my score by 2k!
@ibird, nice score!
Thanks @bernersenn. Your strat finally worked for me and i raised my score over 2k. It works quite well.
@bernersenn thank you so much for sharing your strat
YES!!!!! Ty @bernersenn went from 55600 to 60010 with your strat, you are a ripper
Great strat, helped me a lot, thanks!
Thank you @bernersenn, I used your very nice strat with a slight modification. I sent Han in as you suggested through the vertical slanted wood plank under the stone blocks, but started firing as soon as he made contact with the plank, tapping on the right half of the TNT. The first blaster shots ricochet around doing some damage and the last takes out the planks over the TNT, avoiding a direct hit on it. Hopefully then falling debris or Han sets the TNT off. Doesn’t happen every time, but I was getting it maybe 1 in 10 shots.
Like in the strat detailed by @mecstaveler, it seems that you score more points when the TNT is set off by debris, rather than a direct hit from the blasters. I noticed my scores tended to be higher this way.
Screenshot – http://angrybir.de/1b47yZ1
@gypsybird, @swellid, @windwalker, @eagleeye, @karen68 (I really hope that I didn’t forget anyone): glad I could help. This time it was my pleasure, other times it’s just vice versa. :-)
See, @swelld incorrect spelled, sorry for that
Good job @karen68 you got me! You and the number one slot holder. I have only been high score on one level, but it wasn’t on a challenge. I didn’t even know that I HAD a high score until @stocktoad told me last night! Then his strategy got me a puppy, if I posted the screenshot properly (he also told me I needed to put a screenshot up. I’d be lost without all the help I get from @stocktoad !
Thanks @bernersenn, this worked for me. My aiming point for laser was small angle between horizontal and slanted metal bars.
http://angrybir.de/1d8fFQO
@wicket182, you’re also welcome. Like @mvnla2.
@benerseen, @karen68 — I did find this strat easier to get 3*, although breaking 60K so far eludes me. I did improve my score by 600 pts to 59610 using Karen’s modification. It does seem that you want a delayed explosion of the TNT, but boy, is that hard to get.
That’s the best strategy here. Thanks :-)
Nice score @wRm i almost got it..i see your pretty high up in all of star wars episodes nice flinging
Your top score is safe ( for now) lol
Welcome to the nest:) i hope you enjoy all the episodes try not to drive the averages up to much lol;) jk:)
This is not nearly as easy a strategy as shown in the video or that presented by bernersenn, in fact it’s very difficult with a low success rate (maybe in the range of 1:20 to 1:30), but perhaps you’ll find it worth a few dozen flings, and it did provide my current +59K score with all my other successful attempts yielding +57K scores.
In summary Han comes at the TNT overhead from the right hand side. To that end send Han on a sky-high arc with the aim to penetrate the slanted horizontal wood piece just to the right of the closest stormtrooper. After Han has penetrated the slanted horizontal wood piece begin firing downward through the stocky block onto the horizontal steel plank above the bottom stormtrooper adjacent to the TNT. Most times Han will land on top of the obviously damaged (i.e. “hollowed-out”) but still intact steel plank, but every so often Hans will break through and trigger the TNT. I haven’t figured out the difference between successful and failed attempts or if there is a repeatable key to success ~ at the moment success/failure with this strategy appears to be random.
I owe this strat to @stocktoad as he briefly touched on his idea in a private message before he headed to bed for the night. I am not in bed yet, so tried his theory, and it works. Do a high arc coming straight down just to the right of the left top storm trooper (you will be directly overhead of the bottom storm trooper and the TNT to its right. After you pass through the first board, start firing at the bottom storm trooper. If you get it right, the storm trooper gets blasted, opening a hole for debris to fall in. The debris detonates the TNT, and boom! I think I have the high score now, and it was with this method. I expect my score won’t stand once some of you better flingers try this, but that’s ok! I know @stocktoad would have shared his untried theory when he comes back tomorrow when he saw it works! Have fun, all, and good luck!
@mecstaveler – what a clearly written strat, if only my flinging finger could transform the words into success! (Ps apologies I mentioned you in B&R but hadn’t checked your @ name so you won’t have received the notification !)
Congrats on your Top Score, hope it lasts for ya! And thanks for the help in getting over average.
Congratulations @mecstaveler !! And thank you so much for sharing this strat, I’m working on it now hoping to get my first puppy; )
Thank you both for this strategy! I’ve been flinging all day, and finally got lucky with it… :)
Here’s my screenshot:
http://angrybir.de/1e8SUT2
Dang! Did I miss the deadline to get my puppy??
Awww nice flinging @rubeeinthesky !! You just barely missed it maybe you’ll get it:) I was 20 points short :(
Thank you @Kathy… Backaycha :)
Only 20 points?!? Boo! :(
Next time…
I got it!!! Wooooot! First puppy :)
60840/1
many thx to @mecstaveler and @stocktoad for great strat. and details.
here my video:
https://youtu.be/VN_k-6ygrDU
Correction: like I first said, this shot is in a high arc over the top left storm trooper. However, when you come down, you will be coming in at a slight angle heading to the right, and you will not be directly over the bottom storm trooper beside the TNT, but above and slightly to the left of it, heading down and travelling at a slight slant to the right. There will be an upright board to your left that is slanted exactly as your trajectory should be. But, after breaking through that first horizontal board, sliding through the narrow gap just to the right of the top left storm trooper, start firing directly at the bottom storm trooper sitting beside the TNT. You gotta clear him in order for things to fall in the now vacant space detonate that TNT. This is like threading the needle, but it works.
Chimichangachick (@mecstaveler), oh I can see the potential, but so disappointed that when it finally worked it was for 56970, about 700 below my current score. Well with today’s snow maybe I won’t have to go into work & can fling all day ; – )
TY @mecstaveler for a beautifully detailed description of this strat, and thanks to @stocktoad for coming up with this alternative. I have been going back and forth with this one and the excellent strat of @bernersenn — nice to see @karen68 did so well with that one. Keep at it @justpast40 — I’ve had a couple of disappointing low scores with this one but a number of ones in the high 59K range before getting my current score.
Screenshot http://angrybir.de/1dNGXfs
You are all so polite and sweet and very, very welcome that I shared @stocktoad s strategy! LOL! He did good!
Thanks for sharing @mecstaveler! Great strat from @stocktoad and you execution description. I got it to work a few times but not raising my score above the 59k i got last night with another strat. Still its great to see some fellow nesters getting a new puppy today! Congrats to all of you! Still about 11 hrs to go on Challenge so there will be more.
Congratulations chimichangachick @mecstaveler on your first Underdog! Glad my late night strat helped. What are you going to name the puppy?
Thanks for not being upset that I shared your Strat. I have to say to others that it takes a lot of flings to get it to happen right. Many times I broke through, and the TNT didn’t explode. Or, it’d explode, and things didn’t fall right. It took me about an hour to get that score, and I have a very sore flinging finger now. I took a screenshot, tried to upload it, and its in my album, but am gonna try to post the link? Hope it works! And congrats to the person that took high score! It was fun while it lasted! ;-) http://angrybir.de/LpWIDn
@amslimfordy my screenshot link is here http://angrybir.de/LpWIDn hope I did it right
@stocktoad Thanks!!!! I’m going to name my puppy “Whiskers” or “Mittens” just to be different. :-P
Thanks @mecstaveler! Used your strat to improve by >1.5K, but still “only” at 59010.
I used this method as detailed by @mecstaveler for 61,270.
http://angrybir.de/1d8XJWp
Thanks for sharing @stocktoad strat @mecstaveler and describing it so well. It does take a while to catch on to it but once I got it, pretty steady 59+k scores. I can only add to shoot the lasers as late as possible. Just as he hits the brick below the two bars he breaks through.
I’m a day late for the puppy, but that’s ok. I like finding more points in Tatooine. ;-)
@abcrazy You’re so welcome! Too bad you missed the puppy by a day, but have fun playing the level. I replay levels in this game and Space all the time myself.
Thank you @bernersenn. Did same strat as you. fired below the two blocks and aimed down at tnt after going through the wood. Been trying for some time but finally got a good score. Two screenshots in my album. Where do I post in case I manage to get the underdog badge, doubtful but you never know. Thanks all
@fran you can post the link to the pic in your album here in this thread as it makes it easier for the mods to verify. and you do get a puppy with that score. congrats!
Thanks @swellD . Must be my age or something but I haven’t a clue how to post a link to my album. Must have a look about to see if I can find information for this.
@fran You have the hard part done. Just go to your album and click on the screenshot. That will take you to a page with a bigger screenshot on it. On that page find where it says “LINK” copy and paste the link description to the walkthrough page.
@stocktoad Thank you for letting me know this. I doubt I would have managed otherwise. The people on this site are so helpful.
Congrats, @fran on high score! I’ve always thought the strat has potential, and you just proved it! Good job!
Thanks @mecstaveler. It took a few hours of flinging to get the score, i’m surprised it’s still up there, have to find out how to post a link now.
@stocktoad told me how to do it on my android. Posting it was easier than I thought. Once you get a screenshot showing your score in the game, you go to your album in your profile at angry birds nest, click upload photo, then select it from your device. It uploads and you see Edit Photo, and under that are three HTML codes. You want to copy the bottom one. Then type the screenshots info (Star Wars Tatooni level 1-18) into the comments section. Make sure the boxes are checked for public viewing, then click “save changes” below all that. Now head back here, to the challenges walkthrough page and make a comment or post mentioning @amslimfordy and “here’s a screenshot of my high score” then paste the link you copied earlier of your picture into the post you’re typing. Voila! Post your comment then,if you’re like me, click the link to see if it takes you to your screenshot to make sure it worked. Good luck!
@mecstaveler thanks again. @stocktoad also told me how to do this but I hadn’t entered anything in the comments section but have done so now.
@amslimfordy this is my screenshot link http://angrybir.de/1iLuD7F hopefully.
@fran Ta Dah!! You did it! Isn’t @stocktoad so helpful?! I honestly have learned so much since he started kinda tutoring me on the nest and how it works! Oh! You’re welcome for what I contributed too. Almost forgot I hadn’t replied to your “thank you”!
@mecstaveler Thought it was too good to be true, half hour to go and just been beaten. Never mind, will keep trying.
There are good strategies here. Unfortunately my scoring lags a bit. I eventually managed to break through 60k by @stocktoad and @mecstaveler ‘s strategy. Getting through that horizontal steel bar is difficult. I like @karen68 ‘s method, tends to open up the level, but I struggle to pop the TNT. @bernesenn ‘s method is good, however I score dismally using that method. Couldn’t get past 58k.
@bernersenn , I mean
@jaydee the strategy was all @stocktoad . I just got a great score using it. :-)
@jaydee you can’t start firing shots until AFTER Han passes through the wood beam. That’s the only way to get through the steel bar below it. That part was crucial. Good luck!
The clocks running out on this level being the Daily Challenge but for the benefit of those visiting the Walkthrough in the future…..
In my original post of this strategy, like @mecstaveler I had advised not starting to shoot until “Han has penetrated the slanted horizontal wood piece” but I’ve since come to a different opinion. After careful observation I’m not certain that Han is able to fire all four shots if they are fired AFTER he penetrates the wood plank ~ I can only count three shots for certain. I’ve therefore modified my strategy to begin shooting right before he contacts the slanted horizontal wooden plank which assures that ALL four shots are fired. This strategy has the added advantage of breaking the plank so it does not slow down his momentum before Han impacts the bottom plank.
@uncle-b Although I haven’t been a big winner on today’s challenge, I have tried other alternatives and I have also tried the shooting before the wooden plank. Yes, it does work too. Is it better? I have no idea since I haven’t scored over 60,000 with either method.
Greetings @stocktoad ~ it’s such a pleasure to make your acquaintance !!! @mecstaveler speaks so highly of you in her posts and of your helpfulness to her. Having only recently registered as an AngryBirdNest member I look forward to learning from you and what appears to be so many other friendly veterans of the ABN community.
With respect to your question, I do believe that firing the first shot just prior to impacting the wooden plank results in slightly more penetrations of the bottom steel plank than waiting to fire until after breaking through the first plank. It visually appears to my eye that Han impacts the bottom plank with greater force, probably due to not having his momentum slowed by impacting the first plank? However I don’t believe that the timing of the first shot has any significant bearing on the result after the bottom plank has been breached ~ that end result seems to me as random using either method.
I notice that like me, you also are using a PC to play the game ~ and how often the iPhone, iPad, and Android platforms seem to dominate the top of the leaderboards. I dare speculate that we PC users are at some disadvantage in that regard for reasons unknown…….
All the Best ~ Uncle B
Interesting observations @uncle-b….. I agree on the impacting the plank thing.
As far as the PC disadvantage. I also have an Android and although I can’t say that in the past there might have been an advantage, right now the android and the PC are so close that I think they work identically. iPhone and iPad????? I have no idea. PCs have an advantage with precise aiming and touch pads have an advantage when quickness is an issue. On almost all levels, I prefer playing on the pc. There are lots of top shooters using PCs. I don’t feel disadvantaged. Good luck with your flinging, and I hope to hear more from you in the future.
@uncle-b @stocktoad I alternate between pc and Windows phone 7. In this one I never managed to get to even 59k with WP7, no matter which method. I prefer AB Star Wars on pc as my phone scores are always atrocious. That said, I felt that I was playing catch-up the whole time as my top scotes for each method lagged the set high score for that method score by 1k no matter how many times I flung. I attribute that to my shooting ability and lack of luck though.
That said, I found that I tend to score quite well with WP7 if I am dealing with AB Rio.
@mecstaveler @stocktoad @fran @bernersenn @comex666 @karen68 @swelld @kathy @justpast40 @uncle-b (who should get credit for that strat too)
Hi, I am Jaydee, and I am an AngryBirdoholic…
Einstein sid once that craziness is doing the same thing over and over but expecting different results. I hereby declare that, based on Mr Einstein’s comment, I am then a total lunatic too! Flinging for your first puppy certainly requires exactly THAT type of craziness!! ;-)
Not today’s challenge though. :-( I will try next one… It will happen eventually.
@jaydee ~ Thank you so much for the mention! As a fairly new member of the AngryBirdsNest I was beginning to feel a bit slighted but your mention has made the world OK again ~ so Bless You my fellow AngryBirdoholic !!!
As I tried to convey in my earlier post this is an extremely hard strategy to get to work properly so a bit of “flinging frustration” is to be expected.
All the Best ~ Uncle B
@fran Ta Dah!! You did it! Isn’t @stocktoad so helpful?! I honestly have learned so much since he started kinda tutoring me on the nest and how it works! Oh! You’re welcome for what I contributed too. Almost forgot I hadn’t replied to your “thank you”!
Welcome @jaydee !
Lol @jaydee that is My Favorite quote from Einstein learned it after starting playing angrybirds;)
There is a forum for angrybirdaholihics;)
@uncle-b Unfortunately, I was so worn out from all the activity that went with the challenge and chat that I fell asleep after my last post. I hadn’t realized you’d made a comment directed to me or I would have absolutely responded! I’m new here too. @stocktoad and @kathy have been helping me get acquainted and how the site works. I really am sorry. I have a chronic illness that involves rapid fatiguing of many body systems and, unfortunately, it got me today. If I ever appear to be uncommunicative (and this applies to everyone) I am almost certainly too sick to participate. Regarding the idea you had with that strategy and the shots, I just read it. I honestly had no luck penetrating the steel beam with Han unless I waited until passing through the wooden-looking board, and that was the strat stocktoad had told me. That’s why I related it with such emphasis, because he had, and I had experienced exactly what he had stressed. I am playing on a different platform, not sure if that matters. I’m so glad you posted your alternate strategy. I have only improved during gameplay by reading other’s ideas, and once in awhile, I get one of my own. Never have I gotten a top score in a challenge before, even for a second. I had fun with this challenge, and am so glad to meet you!!
@mecstaveler
Warmest Regards Chimichangachick ~ when I woke-up a short while ago I was delighted to see your reply post and friendship request ~ Thank You so much !!!
I also was initially convinced that Han needed to first break through the slanted horizontal wood plank before firing because of the difficulty breaking the bottom stone plank. I speculated that focused more “energy” into breaking through to the TNT until I finally began to question whether that allowed enough time for all four shots to be fired before Han hit the bottom plank. It’s difficult to see with certainty, but I eventually came to the conclusion that only three shots were being fired. If that is indeed the case that “wasted” shot is better put to use breaking the wooden plank to allow Han to impact the bottom plank with his full momentum. After 100’s of flings using that revised strategy it appears to me that it does slightly improve the success rate of Han breaking though the stone plank.

@uncle_b like I said, if you have an idea, please do share! That’s how I learn! The more observations shared, the better the chance it’s the one thing you hadn’t thought of, and it can raise scores tremendously! You know what I thought was rotten? That rovio disguised a metal frame as a wood plank! I’m so glad you accepted my friend request! Good luck on whatever you are working on now!
