A new Angry Birds update has finally arrived! The delectably sweet Angry Birds Space Utopia (v1.2.0) update has landed on iOS, PC, Mac, Playbook, and Android via the Android Market and Amazon Appstore (as v1.2.1), with other platforms coming soon. As Dr. Venkman said best, “Look at all the junk food”. Utopia is a “food” (okay, junk food) planet and is chock full of donuts, candies, popcorn, lollipops and more. Snozberry anyone?

Note for iOS: A bug fix has been released in v1.2.1 which adds support for new GameCenter leaderboards.
If you didn’t know, an Angry Birds fan named Hayyie actually came up with the name Utopia. Per Rovio’s blog post, “Our fan Hayyie came up with the name ‘Utopia’, securing an exclusive piece of Angry Birds Space art as a prize for winning our competition a couple of months ago. Having the privilege of naming the next episode was never meant to be part of the prize, but after seeing the name, concept art and Hayyie’s sheer enthusiasm: We decided to run with it!”
This update includes:
- Utopia includes 10 new cavity-inducing levels!
- Doesn’t look like there are any new Eggsteroids this time around.
No new achievements in Game Center, but the “Menu Popper” achievement bug has been fixed.
Update: On 11 June, a new achievement appeared called Popcorn Popper. It has been added to the achievements page.- Pro tip! Sparkling lollipops are worth 3,000 points.

The graphics and colors are great. Played the first level for the fun of it and just wanted to eat the cc cookies.
Only ten levels? Is it just me or is Rovio getting a bit lazy?
They have too much on their plate (all four games, Facebook, Amazing Alex); they can’t keep up.
I’d rather have ten nicely designed new levels than thirty average ones.
Let’s see, they had to design it, code it, test it, market it, globalize it and they had to go through the standard bureaucratic process for each of those steps.. I’d love 30 levels each update, but it takes A LOT of work.

It’s not just you. It’s driving me insane that they keep leaving 20 levels out of the updates. Surf N Turf and now Utopia. And Seasons… Well. We’re lucky to get 15 levels max each episode now… It’s disheartening because you know they have the capabilities to do it, yet the money is making them release shorter and shorter ‘free’ updates

I agree with @AMslimfordy!!! The Utopia update added ten very cool levels so don’t be angry for that and start playing the game because this game is quite amazing!!! :)
It’s not crying, and they aren’t free. I originally paid for the game, with the idea of lots of awesome updates… the updates have waned over the past year or so..and have been disappointing just because of how slow the game is going for ME – this is my opinion and it’s consumer feedback for Rovio, who does visit this site. I’m not angry, I’m not crying, I’m not whining – I’m making an educated statement based on my money (close to $50 now I’m sure, since the iPhone apps weren’t transferable to te iPad).
I realize you are running a fan site, and you want to keep it bubbly and happy- but cutting down opinions and statements from legitimate customers is very bad taste.
I’m not asking for anything for free, I’m asking them to deliver what they had led me to believe was a long and exciting game.
I can understand both sides. It is a free update, yet ten levels is definitely less than what we’ve become accustomed to. Hopefully they’ll string together a few updates here and we’ll be back on track.
@birdleader I kind of agree with this, but 1 month is less time than usual as well. 10 levels every four weeks is the same as 15 levels every six weeks (which used to be the ‘norm’) Personally, I’d rather have little and often than lots and rarely. Although right now I’d rather have none (exams are hindering my AB addiction, lol!) :)
And if you scroll right on the level selection screen, there will be 20 more levels of Utopia to come!
You think they don’t have the money???????? Puh-leeeeease. There are Angry Birds shirts, plush, pencil toppers, band-aids, eraser puzzles, ribbons, board games, card games, the games themselves…. Just be glad they release these 10 levels now instead of all 30 of them 4 months from now.
The Utopia levels are great and worth the wait. I think they are the best so far. I agree with @Laurence that I’d rather have fewer levels spaced out than a lot all at once. Thanks Rovio, for helping me keep my AB addiction in check! Only problem is that these levels are so good, it’ll be even harder to wait for the rest.

FYI: the hidden achievement now works…
Menu popper, I popped a single pig on the first screen and (presumably because I tried popping 100 pigs in the past) and got the achievement.
You may want to add this to the article.
True. Manu Popper is not bugged any more. I got it when I started playing the game after the update. So I still don’t know exactly what is meant by “the menus”. But I think all the pigs that are not within a level count towards “Menu Popper”.
@loox @Chris (and @AMslimfordy for good measure so that he doesn’t update the bug fix chart just yet.) It’s still bugged for me…I’ve been playing it all morning and have not received the achievement. This was after SEVERAL sessions of popping pigs previously in addition to a single session of popping 100+ pigs one time to test if the Menu Popper was indeed bugged.
OMG! This game is worse than a child or an animal in making a liar our of you…LOL No sooner had I wrote this, I went back to the game, popped three pigs in 3 different menus, and then after popping a non-pig item, the achievement was achieved… Too funny…maybe I should complain about not getting the 500K block achievement next… Too funny. :-)

I got it today also.
It does look like it’s fixed, although it looks like between me and @loox, you might need to pop something on the top level screen for it to “activate” if you’ve already achieved it numerically.
It appears that the “menus” might only be referring to the main menu. I had hundreds of pops in the submenus, but had to pop another 25 or 30 on the main menu before the achievement was activated.
I don’t think there is a new eggsteroid in this 10 first levels of Utopia. Otherwise the counter on the episode selction screen would not say “18/18” any more, but “18/21”.

Yes. Until now it was always like that: whenevwr there were new eggsteroids, the max. number of stars on the eggsteroid planet increased, cos there are 3 stars for each eggsteroid level. You can divide the max. number of stars by 3, then you know the number if eggsteroids that are available for now.
So as long as the maximum is still 18 stars, I don’t search any new eggsteroid.

When I saw the pic from the Facebook page, I thought it was the new update, despite it was mentioned before that it would likely be not.
Sorry for double posting, but sometimes in the levels, the piggies do a sort of chewing animation. Pretty cool, huh? And maybe exclusive to these levels.
I think that Rovio has made a typing mistake! They have written: spaced.angrybirds.com but it should be space.angrybirds.com!

Not them coz those two birds were voted by people as the least favorite birds but they only didn’t include the orange bird coz it was to new
I think the thee birds can’t be in space because the orange on is like bomb,the boomerang one is like the ladies bird,and I can’t explain why the white bird can’t be in it.
I think that they would have to have new powers like they did with yellow/laser bird. I hope they bring back all 3, orange and white are my favorites…

I know they have a lot of app stores to deal with and that is why it takes longer to release it on other platforms but the PC users seem to have to wait the longest and all of that is off the Rovio website not a 3rd party app store
Jeff, I would hesitate a guess because the App stores and everything else made Rovio who they are. They have to support the bread and butter users (ie the ones that made them popular), so they get the update and then it makes its way across to the other platforms.
From memory PC has never been high on the agenda as it probably has a far smaller user base.
It’s more a matter of conversion to work on desktops, with a plethora of OS, video card drivers, and such.
true i prefer it on the PC as its much easier to aim i think expesially when i hook it up to my 56″ tv lol
I prefer it on the PC too. Even on my 4.3″ phone screen, it’s really difficult to see which bird I am firing in the space versions.
Have to completely agree with that. Even though I’m running an older system.. in my case, the 280 drivers from Nvidia run just fine.. but when I updated to the 301 series, all the PC versions stopped playing and crashed with “Program Not Responding”.
I never knew this would be a real planet. I’m on a strict sweet diet though…lol. I am hungry…

In the description, I think you should add that this is the first planet that Fat Pig appears as a part of a level. (other than Cold Cuts 20)

Red bird’s goggles detect the the fat pig and the pigs eating junk food(donuts,chocolates,popcorn,etc) and eggs!
