Yes, you read it correctly! Both Danger Zone and Mighty Space Eagle are now available as in-app purchases in Angry Birds Space via the Android Market (Google Play). This was a complete surprise, and even the app description makes no mention of these additions. While “Mighty” purchases have been rumored for Android for a long time, it is interesting to note that these purchases have nothing to do with the Bad Piggy Bank system, which we believe is still in development. We were originally tipped off by @AngryBirdNerd and had a lot of help from @rdnzlrips82 and @ncisgrabert to bring you this info!
Update for Amazon: The v1.2.2 update for Utopia no only features 30 new levels across regular gameplay, but now features these fantastic goodies as well! See the Amazon section below for more information.
The Mighty Space Eagle
The Mighty Space Eagle is available in v1.2.1, which also includes the first 10 levels of Utopia. Check out the main Utopia release post for a bunch more info. Before you start flinging sardine cans wildly, there is some information that you should be aware of.
Foremost, you have a limited number of Space Eagles, displayed in the top-left corner of the level. Each time you call for a sardine can, your count goes down by one. If you’re just getting started we have an awesome Angry Birds Space Eagle guide that you might want to check out. While this has received some criticism, we ask that you please do not post your criticisms of the system here. There are a few topics in the Forum if you wish to vent.
Space Eagles can be earned using normal gameplay, or purchased in bundles. For earning and pricing information, see our in-depth Space Eagle guide, which hits all the details. See further down to see how to complete in-app purchases using Google Play and the Amazon Appstore. There is also a plethora of links at the bottom of the post, which should answer pretty much any questions you have.
Danger Zone
Danger Zone is an episode consisting of 30 incredibly difficult levels. Since they are so difficult, they must be purchased for an additional $0.99. You can play the first level for free, just to see if you think you can take the heat. After that, you need to decide whether you are capable of 3-starring these challenging levels. Of course, we are here to help you, but these levels are not for the faint of heart! For Samsung owners who have already played Danger Zone, fear not: You will continue to have access to Danger Zone for no additional charge. For Samsung owners who have not yet played Danger Zone, you will have to purchase like everyone else, sorry.
See further down to see how to complete in-app purchases using Google Play and the Amazon Appstore. If you do decide to take the highway to the Danger Zone be sure to check out our walkthroughs in the event you get stuck.
Remove In-Game Ads
If you are playing the free, ad-supported version of Angry Birds Space from the Android Market (Google Play), you may notice a new button on the front “Play” screen. It seems this option was added with the Fry Me to the Moon update, but the news slipped past us. In any event, by using either this “Remove Ads” button or by clicking the “X” to the left of any ad, you can buy away your ads for a mere $0.99 USD! This is good news, since separately purchasing the “Premium” app ex post facto does not transfer your progress between the two apps. See further down to see how to complete in-app purchases using Google Play.
In-App Purchases on Google Play
Here is a general overview on how to purchase Space Eagle bundles and/or Danger Zone using Android Market (Google Play):
- Open Angry Birds Space and click on the “Eagle Eye” logo on the main “Play” screen. Choose which bundle you wish to purchase. This will open Google Play.
AND/OROpen Angry Birds Space and go to level 2 of Danger Zone. Agree to purchase Danger Zone when prompted. This will open Google Play.
AND/OR
Open Angry Birds Space and click on either the “Remove Ads” button on the main menu or the “X” to the left of any ad. Confirm that you want to remove ads. This will open Google Play. - You should be prompted to sign in to your Google Play account.
- You will see a “Payment” screen similar to what appears at the top of this page.
- Billing is completed via Google Wallet, which appears to accept all major Credit and Debit Cards, and also allows billing directly to your mobile phone bill (excludes Verizon USA).
Amazon Appstore
While v1.2.1 has landed for Amazon, it appears that neither Danger Zone nor the Space Eagle have landed here. As for the future, time will only tell. Well, the future has come, and Amazon now has the Space Eagle and Danger Zone available in v1.2.2. We are working on compiling all relevant information and will finalize this post soon.
Restricting In-App Purchases
Whether you want to purchase these items or not is your prerogative. But for the parents out there, here’s some good info for you, especially if you want to prevent your little ones from running up your credit card bill! While this process does not disable in-app purchases, it should protect your bank account.
Google Play: Go to Google Play Store App. Go to Menu > Settings > Set or Change PIN. Enter (and confirm) your PIN, then check the box for “Use PIN for purchases”.
Amazon Appstore: Go to the Amazon Appstore App. Go to Menu > Settings > Parental Controls > Enable Parental Controls. Enter your password for Amazon.com. If you don’t want to use your Amazon password, check the box “Use PIN” and enter (and confirm) your PIN.

For the record: I have Verizon as my mobile carrier and I am unable to have this put on my phone bill. I do not know how other carriers handle Google Play accounts. If anyone has any information about having purchases from Google Play put on your Verizon bill, please reply.
Hi, @rdnzlrips82 I just saw an article that stated that verizon is not allowing that option. It was on droidlife.com. Hope it changes soon for you!
http://www.droid-life.com/2012/05/02/google-play-adds-carrier-billing-support-of-movies-music-and-apps-for-multiple-carriers-no-verizon-love-yet/
So this could mean that Mighty Eagle can land on other versions of Angry Birds too.
It’s a possibility. We can only guess at this point.
Exactly. It wouldn’t be unreasonable, but we also won’t speculate.
And just when I decided to switch over to iPad. Just goes to show how lousy my timing can be.
I wonder if it was Verizon holding things up the whole time. The version I download and update is the same one every other Android user does, and it has the Mighty Eagle already in it and working. (I’m T-Mobile, but I’m upating from the Android Market, not the T-Mobile Mall).
Hopefully they will release it to every carrier that allows it now that Space Eagle is available to purchase, especially since it appears to be already in everyone’s Android version.
I don’t believe there’s any “carrier” issues at the moment.
I’m sorry, I thought that the thread above this one meant that Verizon customers couldn’t get the Space Eagle, maybe it’s just that they can’t have it billed to their Verizon account?
Correct: Verizon users must use Debit/Credit.
I would love to see feedback from someone with a Samsung device and whether or not they are able to retain their Danger Zone levels without having to purchase. Also, do they keep their scores? I imagine the scores wouldn’t change since the highscores.lua probably wouldn’t be modified.
DZ for Samsung still has another 2 weeks or so in which they should have them for free. My dad has a Samsung Galaxy SI with them ATM – I’ll have to see if he loses them and/or scores. Will also be interesting to see what Rovio do about the ‘bonus egg’ on Samsung devices! :)
Everything remained for Samsung users.
i have a Samsung device on T-Mobile and have had Danger Zone since day 1 and still have it…why they make others pay for it is beyond me…seems kinda stupid to me
It was free for Samsung devices due to a partnership between Rovio and Samsung.
My friend will be glad of this!
wonderful surprize from rovio i just came to ABN site and i shocked when i saw the article amazing!!
I love Rovio!!! :) Thanks Rovio!!! I love to have the SE on Android!!! :)
I wonder if @kathy has seen this? Oh well, I know she will now. Looks like you don’t have to sledgehammer your android after all ;)
She’s at work right now. She will be excited. Until she realizes how difficult DZ is. When she figures that out, the phone will still get sledgehammered. :)
Woo Hoo!!! thanks @Bill lfor notification !! now if I could just get a wi-fi signal! !!
Looks like I have to wait it out a couple more days until Amazon App Store gets on board.
@kevin don’t you have google play? I thought all androids have it?
@Kathy Some androids(like mine) don’t have Google play.
@Kathy ,I do have google play also, but I downloaded Space through Amazon , gonna give it a try now to see if it updates
I just typed a whole answer and it dissapeared ..good luck @kevin let me know;)
all android users should celebrate at the Bloated Pig iin the forum .. first drinks on me:)
be sure to read page 1, you will enjoy the story:)
ask forsomeone on @team ( sunshine, rdnzlrips82, E- Star or myself.. if were not there Orange Bird is the tender ( quiet but hard workin) ;) Celebrate! !!
I’m sure someone will correct me but I think in order to have Google Play, you need a google email account. (????) At least thats how it appeared to work with my android phone. When I connect to google play, it shows my google email address for a brief moment.
Again, could be wrong on this.
You are correct – you need a google account, with a credit card associated with it – to use Google Play (formerly the Android Market).
I don’t think it’s required, but having a Google Account is sufficient. You can have a Google Wallet account using other email addresses.
That may be – I know my situation is as I described…
I have an android actually had to open google account to activate it..
I uaually order apps from amazon but I guess my phone syncs everything so they are on google play as well
I don’t know about” google wallet” the chage goes to my phone bill directly. in amazon I have choice of debit or charge my phone bil. hope this helps
I don’t think a credit card is required for google play. I have never set one up but I do use google play to download apps. I have never purchased an app (guess i am just cheap lol).
Thinking that I may have to finally breakdown and make my first purchase.
@sparty83 LOL. You have to!! its.99cents. ill pay;) I need company….we talked abiut this thw other. night ..after all the complaining We have done you can’t not buy it LOL.!!!
c’mon cough it up ill mail.you the buck;)
When I bought my DroidX, I had to set up a gmail account to activate the phone with Verizon. As I recall, the Android Market app was pre-installed on my phone. Thus, when the Market became Google Play, I already had access.
@truckdriver, I believe that’s also how my phone got setup originally when I got mine. Also verizon.
@kathy, I’ll probably cough up the buck to get DZ. If for nothing else, just to climb back up the leaderboards. It kills me to see my rankings drop so much. Even if I don’t get the DZ badge, the 30 levels of scores will help a lot.
@TruckDriver same here
@sparty83 cool I’m glad your getting it:) it will definitle hellp. with standings;)
This is a happy day!! Just waiting for the Amazon update! :D
@teogeo I hope you get it soon..I have both amazon and google play..so I just got wi- fi signal. to work..its pretty.cool haven’t tried utopia yet only first levell of dz its coop
usually amazon is a day late I’ve found:) good luck..patience. I know we waited long enough right!..
Indeed! It was a long way here, one more day won’t harm! :-)
Otherwise, I’ll have to sacrifice my progress, delete the Amazon version and install Google Play’s version! :P
I got ABSP from Amazon too. Mainly because I didn’t know it was going to be available to purchase from Google Play, and I wanted the paid version. I sure hope we get the same options on Amazon!
It should be the same. At least other paid games (like where’s my water) have in-app purchases in both versions (amazon + play).
Good luck everyone on DZ score addcit
How do you get Danger Zone on Android via Verizon?
The answer is in the second comment from the top.
Cool! Now I can use the Space Eagle for Android:-)
I really hope that the next device to be uptaded with Utopia , Space Eagle and Danger Zone is Blackberry Playbook. :D
I think it will be a while between those latter two items go to Playbook. I believe PC and Mac would get them first.
You’re right , PC and Mac always come earlier than Playbook. Im glad that Android users now Space Eagle and Danger Zone. (Utopia was obviously coming)
…Utopia is part of this update.
Yeah i know , but i always knew that Utopia was coming to Android. I never thought that Space Eagle and Danger Zone for Android were coming.
Ah, “was”. I thought it said “is” — my mistake.
Dont worry , im from Mexico by the way , hehe.
Congrats to to everyone that has a android :)
I have an Android! I love the Space Eagle. But when I tapped the screen after I launched the sardine can, the can broke! :(
Watch our instructional videos. This is said.
Hi! I’m trying to buy the Danger Zone levels (T-Mobile), but after I make the payment process, it say purchase canceled. It’s ok, I understand that I wont be charged until the process complete, but I want to know if there is a problem in T-Mobile or Rovio transactions.
Sorry, we are not aware of such issues at this time. You may want to contact Rovio directly about this.
Ok, thanks, I will. I try to make the purchase 7 times and the 7 fails. If you know about anything, just let me know, I will be thankful.
I would say try restarting your device completely, and make sure you are filling in every line on the payment screen. Unfortunately, I don’t have an Android, so I’m only speculating as to how it’s working.
Its ok, thanks for your effort and help. I restart it and I don’t need to fill information cause is billed directly to T-Mobile. Its look like something in the system or servers, it say it take to long to process and then cancel itself. Thanks again.
same thing is happening to me on Droid/Verizon. I bought it but dont have the levels.
Is there a way to disable in app purchases on Android? If not I’ll need to uninstall Angry Birds Space as my son touches every icon in the game and will end up making purchases that I’m not willing to make.
Hrm, good idea. I’m going to add this to the top post, but here’s something that will work. It doesn’t disable IAPs, but it is a sufficient restriction so long as you never tell your son the code! See above under Restricting IAPs.
Woohoo!Mighty Eagle here I come!Hopefully ME will available to ABo,Rio & Seasons soon.
We won’t speculate on that for the time being, but it is certainly possible.
How come mighty space eagle but not other eagles in ABO, ABS AND ABR? Rovio’s working on it?
We don’t have these answers. Frankly, one could have said the same thing about iOS for a long time: Why ABo but not Seasons or Rio? Could be a development issue. Could be that Rovio focused on AB:Space because it would be the hardest to implement (decaying IAPs are more difficult than permanent IAPs, I believe). Could be that Rovio wants to see how the reception is on the (currently) most popular app in the franchise. Could just be that this is the first update to show since Rovio finalized the development.
Summary: Unless Rovio releases a press statement about this specific development, we will never know.
But what I don’t get was that it was released on T-Mobile (as a beta test, I’ve heard) way back in October. I wouldn’t think it would take rovio that long to get others to just accept the Bad Piggy Bank system unless Rovio is leaving the ME exclusive to iOS until way later thus year, if not NEVER.
I’lll try not to bug you, slim :)
As we said in the post, this is not using the BPB system.
I finished before this update all levels with 3 stars but now I didn’t get any eagles for it. Are we getting this later or do I have to buy them?
You probably started out with a higher number when you initially opened the app.
I have the same question… I don’t understand. How can I get SE for I’ve done before??
slim just answered, take a moment and read the guide to understanding space eagle.
This SE for Android(Google Play) is free,or i will need to buy?
You get both. You are awarded a Free daily eagle and during normal gameplay. If you do not want to wait, you can purchase a bundle.
I have 1 SE,and more i can buy..
This is all said in the many posts linked above.
Did I can buy this ME with telephone(SMS)?
Again, this is answered in these posts to the best of our abilities.
Awesome!!!Finally i can play ABSP with the Space Eagle!Hope that they will release it for all games.
Does you get SE for what you have played before? Because I didn’t get that!
Me too,and slim,is the mobile billing paying system only available on U.S?or worldwide?can’t use it,when I opened Google Play, only “add card” came out,no phone billing
I’m just reporting what I have read.
A very good step for Rovio’s goal to place the Eagles in all platforms. Hopefully ME wouldn’t be too far for Droids…
Indeed – I guess it could even arrive with the next seasons update due soon! Probably just wishful thinking, but you never know :)
Being a ‘droid user and not sure how the ios users get/buy the eagles I’m hoping that if Rovio does give the eagles to driod on the next update they give us over 500. (thats roughly 1 a day plus a bonus of 50 to 100 for making us wait over a year for it)
For the other three apps, the Mighty Eagle is a one-time purchase with unlimited use. The “Daily Eagles” is unique to Space, since Space is the only app at this time with decaying use.
Thanks Slim! If it becomes available for the other versions (ABO,ABR, ABS) I may purchase it if it is the same as ios. (one time purchase, unlimited use). Would be nice to get all the feathers although there is no equivelant (sp?) game center achievements for droid.
ME is worth every penny and you’ll find some levels pretty challenging.
The ME and SE are fun. They are worth the money. I view them as bonus games within each AB level. After 3 stars, all the eggs, all the achieved scores then come Eagles. They make you change your strategy patterns to solve their puzzles. I completed all the SE levels before trying to obtain 2 stars in Space. They are pure entertainment of game playing.
I can’t bye DZ whit my phone bill! :( Can someone help me?
Perhaps the “phone bill” option is US only. We aren’t really sure.
@mufc who is your carrier? You may have to have a credit or debit card on file to purchase it.
I use Tele2 (It’s from Swedish, but it does not mean that I’m from Sweden!).
@kathy, you owe me a buck!
*wraps dollar bill in paper..places in envelope..licks it..stamps it
mails to @sparty83 c/o angrybirdsnest. com. ) 01234-5678 somewhere USA.
Anyone have any issues purchasing Danger Zone using sprint and their phone bill
Or is there a delay after purchase before you get it?
My order went through but i havent gotten the levels yet. When i go back in to buy again it says ive alraedy purchased this item or the purchase is still pending.
Ive sent an email to rovio.. guessing itll be a while before i hear back
Sorry we don’t know.
But, if a player has already played (and completed) Danger Zone, will he or she be still able to?
This is a different question. But Samsung users seem to be able to continue playing Danger Zone with no issues.
I would expect that though, as the three month exclusivity doesn’t end for another 2 weeks. It’s after that we’ll have to see! :)
Not related, but this animation shows some iPad apps come to life, including Angry Birds (heck yeah!).
I am not sure if this is relevant to this thread, but here it goes. I thought I had read that in order for iOS users to get their daily Space Eagle, they had to have a data connection. For Android, it seems to have a time stamp for when the app was first opened and the first free Space Eagle was awarded. Because this morning, when I opened the app, I got my daily Eagle without having a data connection.
Data connection is not needed. It uses the local time on your devices and counts 24h from your last award.
I don’t intend to buy any Space Eagles, as I already find playing Angry Birds is like being addicted to Crack, so introducing money to the equation would make the game time-consuming AND expensive…
However, I love the fact that you get one free Space Eagle per day! To me, this is similar to the Christmas Seasons episodes, where you get one new game per day. This gives me my daily Angry Birds fix, but ensures I can only play a small amount. I’ve started by clearing level 1-1, and every day I’ll keep chipping away at it. Perfect.
Top tip for Android phone users: The standard Android Clock has an alarm which can be set to open Applications. I’ve got mine set to open Angry Birds every day at 4pm – which I think is when the daily free Eagle arrives.
Am I the only Android user who is upset that there are still advertisements in DZ? I understand that the free versions have ads as that helps offset the cost of the free game. But with DZ, I had to pay for it, granted it was only $.99, but since I did have to pay for it, I just assumed that DZ would be ad free. For the other episodes of space, I did expect the ads (since they were free) but not for DZ.
(I did force close the app, and powered down my phone, launched the game and there were still ads)
I’ll preface this by saying I do indeed understand your point. However, the $0.99 paid for Danger Zone simply unlocks the levels, just like on iOS. Android (via Google Play and Amazon) has an ad-free version for $0.99 as well. The two purchases are completely separate, and one does not imply the other.
I guess upset wasn’t the correct word. Just assumed since it was a pay episode, it would be ad free. Since I have been playing AB in all its variations for well over a year, and every episode/level has had ads, I am used to them.
Although it would have been nice to play 30 levels without the ads.
@sparty83, you can buy “away” the ads! :D
Can you? I hadn’t heard that…
@mufc, that is correct. On the very first screen, the episode selection screen, there is a button labled “Remove in-game ads!” I am assuming that this is a purchase option for all of AB-Space. I have not clicked it to find out.
But like I mentioned above, I have been playing for over a year with ads and have gotten used to them. They can be a bit annoying at times but it does help offset the free game. It’s a very small annoyance for such a fun and addicting game.
(@amslimfordy, if you want me to, I can post a picture of this)
Slim,it can,remove ads permanently for $0.99 by pressing x
Thanks guys. Guess this one slipped past us. I have updated the top post.
@slimfordy,
Here is an image of my AB-Space main screen.
http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/109/dscn1769z.jpg/
and this is what comes up when you click on the Remove in game ads button.
http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/85/dscn1770b.jpg/
It may be a bit blurry, but that is a shopping cart on the bottom middle of the screen.
(sorry if it is a little fuzzy)
Thanks!
But is the ad-free version for Android enough to unlock DZ or I have to pay for the DZ too?
They look like separate purchases. (not 100% positive on that since I did not purchase the add free version of Space)
They are separate purchases: $0.99 for ad-free or “Premium”; and $0.99 for Danger Zone; and $x.99 for Space Eagles. If you want any or all of these, they are all separate.
But if someone played and finished Danger Zone and the update obliges to pay for it, will I still can play it or I have to pay it for playing it again?
See correspondence on Page 1: Link
Good to see, thanks.
@sparty83, @amslimfordy Thank you! :)
Just to clarify, are the free space eagles awarded in the same manner as iOs players? ( three eagles per episode finished and ten when three starred plus the daily ones )
I haven’t read any android users confirm that. Maybe it’s too early.
Daily ones have been confirmed. Unfortunately, most Android users have completed the other episodes already (less Danger Zone) and Utopia can’t be finished yet, so we may have to wait a while.
It would be nice of them to credit us for those Eagles, but I don’t see it happening.
And I already had DZ, being a Samsung owner.
Well,I reseted my data in my Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.0+ and yes,23 Eagles for the first 10 levels,3 for completing episode,10 for 3-starring an episode, but,in my other phone, nope,if you already finished all of them from the start(Before SE was released)you’ll not get it.
Someone mentioned this to them on Twitter. I think it may have just been an oversight.
