Angry Birds Space Cold Cuts Level 2-1 Walkthrough

A consistent strategy for Cold Cuts level 2-1 is to send the Red bird into the top-right icy asteroid. It seems to be the easiest shot that yields three stars.

I’m on iPhone 3GS (which has a reduced screen size compared to PC/Mac/iPhone 4 etc) but currently have the highscore (which I doubt will last!) There are actually two ways of obtaining 47340+ scores, one easier than the other!

First of, the easier one: Aim the red bird towards the usual ice-teroid, but add less power. You want it so that the end of the ‘sightline’ lines up just underneath the top left ice-teroid. May take a couple of goes, but 47900 scores are possible like this!

Secondly, the harder (and less reliable method) Aim the red bird at the FRONT MIDDLE ice-teroid with greatly reduced power! You want to hit it so that it doesn’t split into three, but is pushed into the pig in the middle. Occassionly this will lead to a chain reaction that destroys everything, leading to 48k plus scores.

Hope this helps people stuck on 47340 :)

After that I tried this with a couple of the other asteroids, and actually the ‘pushing’ the block into the pig was more of an accident. I initially thought I’d hit it too slow, and then saw all the asteroids exploding everywhere, and realized there could be a highscore hidden there somewhere!

For those new to Cold Cuts, or those coming back to 2-1 looking to better their score, Laurence’s #2 above(See E-Star’s video) is the way to get the higher scores.

The most important part is the ice marbles have got to be either destroyed completely, or broken up into small marbles. If there is even one middle sized left, 47340 to mid48K is all you’ will get.

Sorry to bother you years after you posted this beautiful strat, but despite many attempts, I have not been able to reach you magical 54,560 score. When I do it on my iPhone (I mean, “dots stop just at the boulder or one dot shy of boulder”), the ice-roid breaks when hitting the bubble. The same occurs on my PC version. BTW…I play on iPad…but I used to play on an Android phone and I can’t remember which was used here but I’m almost positive it was my iPad. I did look to see what platform the other 6 Top Score users play on and there’s 6 of us using on iPad and one uses iPhone.

Thank you for your reply. What you says corresponds to what I have on both PC and iPhone, however, when I try to use your strat here, by having “dots stop just at the boulder or one dot shy of [left] boulder” as you say, then it seems that the ice-roid bursts all the time when it hits the bubble.

So, my question is: do you remember that this shot had very low chances to succeed because of the bursting ice-roid, or do you remember that the power you used was sufficiently low so as not to burst the ice-roid against the bubble, the outcome after hitting the bottom rock being in all cases, variable? Also, do you remember at which frequency you could get your mark? Since you got it 15 times, I presume it is not a super rare occurrence. It may happen that the physics of the level has changed and that the ice-roid breaks much more often than before, which could explain why I can’t get it now.

In any case, many thanks for all the strats you posted here and there. I sometimes felt somehow ashamed to get above your score by using your strat, but at least for the present level, your score stands the test of time.

@sglouk I see what you mean! I gave it several flings and even with slowed power…the ice-roid keeps bursting after it hits the bubble …but one of the pieces seems to always hit the bottom boulder…but I haven’t got the 54K score.

This is what is also happening for you it seems…I honestly can’t remember the details as it was so long ago…it’s either the physics have changed as you say…or it may be one of those cases where I get super tuned in on a level and play for way tooooo long with a bit of OCD going on and may have got it “15 times” at the time because I had “dialed in” on the shot? I mean it’s possible because even with everyone trying for it back then…only 7 of us got it to go just right? I don’t have the time to put into right now to know for sure. I did retry about 20 times or more just now and the boulder keeps breaking. Based off my original post, it’s sounds like I was saying that after it hit the bubble, it “coasted down” without bursting so I don’t know? If anything changes, I’ll let you know.

Also thanks for your kind words ;-) I’m glad I have been able to help you along the way! Never feel ashamed to beat my score(unless of course you are sending the Sheriff my way, hahaha). Quite the opposite..it feels good to know I helped achieve it! Good Luck ;-)))

The shot you described two years ago is still possible but with much reduced power (as Laurence said at that time), which allows the ice-roid to survives the collision with the bubble. The outcome is partially random (ice-roid explosions are not so random, but the way Red bounces on debris is, I would say), and thus many score occur quite often, such as 49080, which is by far the most common score I got (keeping only those above 47k). The highest repeatable score I got dozens of times was 51120. Therefore I am not surprised that you could get your 54560 fifteen times by doing exactly the same shot, however, I still don’t know which it was or if it is still repeatable today. All I can say is that I have begun to do some tests on some old Android version (pre-Utopia), and it seems that the ice-roid bursts always with the power you talked about.

A last question: earlier, you had talked about a “far top right brown asteroid nearly off the screen”. Does it still exist? I do not see it on my iPhone, nor my Android device. If not, this may also explain why I can get above 52k today.

@sglouk – No I Don’t see it anymore either? This episode was one of the first released so I don’t know if it was a “point gathering asteroid” or one of those background features. I mean we were new to the Space episode at the time…and maybe I thought back then, that background asteroids could obtain points? No one else mentioned it so it’s hard to say. At any rate your current score is pretty respectable ;-) Let me know though if you do end up getting it…which seems to be now with even less power than when I played. GL

No new score for me, but I finally got an old PC version (v1.2.0) and yes, there is a small planet in the upper right corner as you said. So the design of the level has changed, although marginally (but this old version probably helped to scratch a few more points when debris hit this small planet). I will now investigate to see if I can reproduce your score with this version. I am optimistic, since old level 2-10 already allowed me to get a much higher score thanks to design change.

Got 52830 three times in a row, so I am begining to understand what happens. I am quite confident that I can join/get close to your 54,560 club and will leave a detailed description of what in going on when I am done.

All,

I rarely comment here. With my biggest comments being about the dreaded Seasons Greedings 1-16 Mighty Eagle nightmare.

Maybe I should come here more often for these tips. I have never, ever looked. Figuring That if I can’t figure it out, then I’ve done the best I can. To date, I any score I have, is because I worked on it. And my scores, while beating the average for all that I’ve posted in all these games, is far from any leader board scores. Maybe I’ve had one or two.

But this 2-1 level? I was so shocked to be stuck at the dreaded 47340 score. I have never seen anything so predictable and unalterable.

So, I turned here to the forums. And there was the answer.

I had never ever considered to use less power. Ever. Maybe on getting some Golden Eggs.

A big THANK YOU to all. Lawrence, and the very specific instructions by Angry Advisor. I really appreciate it.

I’ll never be a top player. But for some reason beating the average makes a difference to me.

Thanks very much.

I am busy with other levels that can give much higher scores with old versions (DZ-4 0 birder, E-4 (top score!), 2-10). But I don’t forget I also have to settle an account with this one.

Thanks @Laurence and @estar for the alternate strat. I was stuck in the 47,340 club, too until I read through here. After figuring out the slowest speed needed to bump into the smaller iceteroid, finally got 49,170. I made a video, but it’s the same as yours, lol.
