Welcome to our first Winter Wonderham walkthrough! These levels are released daily at 12AM PST, so be sure to check back each day for more wintery flinging. See the linked post above for more details.
Angry Birds Seasons Winter Wonderham level 1-1 was first available on Saturday, December 1st, 2012. Our strategy is to loft the first Black bird high, barely clearing the first tree on descent. The explosion and debris should clear the left half of the level. Use the White bird to either clear a path in the center of the level or break some presents on the extreme left side, but be sure to topple the rightmost tree. Finish off with another Black bird into the stones on the right. The score in the video below is 122,830.
Bonus! Our Winter Wonderham level 1-1 Mighty Eagle walkthrough is live as well!
On very early experimentation, it looks to me as though landing bombbird on the wooden platform where there isn’t a “handrail” ie directly above the top of the arch, gives better results but I stress it’s VERY early days!
Yes, right at the center clears all the piggies. However, if you clear the rest in the right hand tree with white bird and do not get the presents you can’t get three star.
You definitely need to find a way to also get the presents, as they are 3,000 points each. Makes a HUGE difference for scores
I managed to pull off 126K with the same strat as posted.. only difference, is that the white bird was a lucky enough shot to clear the right side of all pigs.. leaving two remaining.
Merry December Everyone!!!
I only post on this website for the Christmas levels – totally love them!
So hello to everyone who was on here last December :)
Managed 123560 with three birds.
I did manage two birds but missed the presents and got less than 120k.
Well Happy December @chris nice to see you again;)
I got 124k in the following way.
1st Bird- On the first left-most semi-circle and landing the bird right of the pig and exploding manually. This got me the gifts also.
2nd Bird- To the middle of the two semi-circles and dropping the egg there, and the frail body of the bird goes to the right most tree with pigs.
3rd Bird- To the right semi-circle for destroying pigs and debris.
Thanks @iamMighty….my strat wasn’t working for beans, yours did very nicely, and with a lot of luck, much damage.
Wow! Congrats on top-score. Happy flinging!
That’s pretty much the way I got it, but I need a few more breaks for more damage points.
@TruckDriver, Is it just me or does this level give 1 and 2 Birders left and right that don’t amount to even a low score 3 star?
@TruckDFriver, Well, as I myself found out, the solution is actually simple, you must restrain yourself from going after the 1 or 2 Birders and concentrate on doing it according to the video. At least for the time being.
Yeah, these winter advent levels are fairly precisely choreographed. One can always get lucky, of course, but it’s difficult.
It ain’t just you…! :-D
Ooohh @WereWolf69 hi:) you got that right ;)
im so going for the one birder and forget to concentrate on just complete the level lol and @TruckDriver is correct ” you ain’t the only one ” :)
I want to know what those piggies make their flagpoles out of. That flag on the right often ends up holding up the entire stone arch and saving their bacon. Tough three-star score, this one!
Rob48, apparently the flagpole is made from the same frozen water as the icicles but maybe with poor quality control because the flagpole can break if hit the right way but the icicles won’t.
That’s the Finnish flag and (who knew?) Finnish people have an evil and wonderful sense of humor.
I suppose I wouldn’t want my flag to be easy to destroy either.
I did manage to get a 1 birder (total fluke! ) but score was only 111,450
I got a 1 birder too but only 109,300.
Ditto for 115!
My 1 B was 122K. I was so surprise so I don’t send a BB for the gifts.
1-birder…blackbird on a high arc landing on the wood just past the central stone block pillar. Breaks the wood, falls down to the left side of the right arch, let it self detonate, and it will fling enough debris to take out the right and left Christmas trees. Bad news is, it doesn’t touch the presents, so not terribly high-scoring.
@waimea — Did you get your 127K with this strat or some other?
@mvnia2…nope. This is a very low scoring strat. I thought (very early on) that this was a rarity so I posted it. Little did I know that you really need 3 birds to get the points. I used iamMighty’s strat, and posted so above. Sorry for the confusion.
I’m toying with a new strategy if anyone wants to chip in:
– Bomb bird into middle of first tree: should take it out and send debris into tree on the other side.
– White bird low and egg into the first archway, hopefully knocking bricks into the presents
– Bomb bird into the middle for the remainder
That’s what I was trying also, but it doesn’t really score high.
I tried that also but I can rarely get the presents and that doesn’t get you any high scores.
130660 w/3 – same strat as iamMighty – thanks for that :)
I settled on my strategy after many attempts only to find – when I posted my score – that it is the same as the video. Easy to get 3* but score is very sensitive to trajectory of 1st & 2nd shots. I wager that there is a 1-bird solution with the video approach if the Black Bird just clears the Christmas tree and is manually detonated on the wooden plank supporting the pig with the orange hat. I have just over 20 hours to try before the next challenges rears.
I should have posted, “3* is straightforward” instead of “easy” because that pesky flagpole often gets in the way as Rob48 observes above.
Just managed to improve my score by 8k in one go but not really by varying strategy, just lucky with destruction and managed to get in the 3rd bird to destroy presents before level ended:
1: Bomb onto second arch area with no railings, detonate and debris takes out both trees.
2: White bird to blow up remaining debris at right, should kill all pigs.
3: Quickly before level ends, launch bomb bird high into left arch debris and detonate to take out presents.
Used the same strategy. Thanks for posting @rob48. The second bomb bird can obtain a good deal of point if it settles to the bottom and naturally detonates.
Getting the presents is key…I used the same strategy as the video, but left only one bird on the right and cleaned it up with the bomb bird…could be a possible 2 bird level for more points…126,500 so far.
Followed the same strategy as in the video for 3 stars u have to take presents i had one bird also these level earlier but my score was low as i was not able to take presents once i take the presents i was able to 3 star these level.
Finally got to 125560, which is currently above average, following video strat, with a slight modification of the first shot (I play on iPad, if that matters): first bird should land onthe stone fence piece to right of left pig on bridge. Detonate manually on contact (not a msec later). Need to get at least two presents (maybe all three), left tree, left part of bridge and score >50K. Rest same as video.
What a shocker! I only started playing Angry Birds this spring so I have never had to wait for levels to become available. Imagine my horror at seeing a screen saying ‘next level available in 17 hours and 56 minutes, Squawk!
Rovio occasionally helps us AB addicts, who will get 3* on all released levels in a single day by releasing only 1 per day. Lets you do something else, like shop for Christmas presents. You might check out Angry Birds Anonymous in the forum; you might want to join.
Well, while I was reading all these posts, the pig on the left with the hat rolled off the bridge and got 2 black eyes! If anyone sees any other self destruction on this one, or has data like number of points, frequency of occurrence, time after reset, please post in forum on self-destroying and unstable levels:
https://www.angrybirdsnest.com/forum/discussion/873/please-add-to-list-of-self-destroying-and-unstable-levels
Thanks for your help. If you know of any self-destroying or unstable levels that are not on the list on the first page, or have any corrections or missing info, please post also.
Well again I was reading and not watching. I would say it takes a couple of minutes, but no idea what starts it. This time the left pig with hat rolled off and popped, both arches are destabilized (arch not perfect and big santa pig on right rolled left and has 2 black eyes. Got 5250 pts.
Sorry (disgusted really) to say I couldn’t take advantage of this (not even 3*); but it should certainly help you get a high score.
OK, 12th restart: Pig on right rolls to left and hits pillar, getting black eyes; pig on left rolls to right to get black eyes, but then rolls off to left; both arches cave a little; 5110 pts. Takes maybe 1 min after restart. At restart you can see right pig on plank go up slightly as plank settles down at center hinge.
Gaah! These arches are strong, even when partially caved in (by partially caved I mean they are no longer a perfect arch — 3 blocks on right are nearly in a straight line). Lesson in Roman architecture, I guess.
@mvnla2 – that’s the amazing thing about arches; as long as they remain relatively in plane, (and in a 2D world, it could hardly be otherwise), the compression factor is still at work maintaining the load, and holding the basic shape of the structure, at least in the real world. I think your work here is confirmation of the fact that the same holds true in the AB universe as well.
I think the snow must be melting on something, on 19th restart both pigs got black eyes fairly soon after restart (but not points); wood on top of arches slowly started raising and arches got out of alignment; left pig rolled off but didn’t pop for 110 pts. I thought movement was done, but as I was writing this, right wood fell off center square block for 140.
This time pig on left rolled off, kept hat for 50 pts.
Center 2 fence post move apart very slowly — There must be some black ice on the bridge sometimes. I hope Rovio or someone is getting a chuckle out of all these posts. : )
Wow @mvnla2 you sure have the patience ;) im just starting out..will let you know if i see anything;) ty;)
@mvnla2, I’m very proud of you, you finally developed the art of patience so necessary for your self-appointed task. Congratulations.
@WereWolf69 — Not clear if I have enough patience or not. I obviously need help from people with more patience and/or different devices. I thinking more and more that some self-destruction is device dependent.
BTW — I did get total self-destruction on DZ-4. Did you? (Got it after the update everyone thought had eliminated it, too.) : )
You can get the presents by flinging the bomb at the middle of the front ice slope & detonating on impact, will usually take down the 1st tree as well. I haven’t yet worked that into a very successful strategy, as I am only a pathetic 60 points over 3 stars. Need to work on this level some more!
I love the Northern Lights & candy canes in the background, very pretty to look at.
@karen68: Brilliant! I managed to go from 123210 to 123420, but all the other shots have to work just right. :)
First bird into middle, break wood and fall through into either left or right V. Clears middle and one or both trees.
Second bird into middle, take out right tree if needed.
Third bird high arc to take out presents.
Yes, I figured out the same strategy. It’s much higher-scoring than the video method, but it’s still difficult to string three good shots together.
On the first shot, I had more success punching through the rope and wood over the left V, but I suspect the scoring potential is better if you can manage to break into the right side.
On the second shot, you obviously want to aim in such a way as to destroy as much debris as possible with the egg while still taking out the tree.
The third shot is much easier if the left tree falls down, which often happens, but you have to be patient waiting for it to finally sway enough to tip over.
I got 133k, but that was my first three-star score on this level; it’s a tricky one. I think this is a pretty good indication that the three-star thresholds will be higher than they were in Wreck the Halls.
@austinRHL – you are correct, I believe we are headed for a difficult December. I just got off the phone with my contacts at the North Pole (aka Rovio HQ in Finland), and apparently things are tough all over. The elves responsible for coming up with the three–star thresholds for Winter Wonderham were not happy with the working conditions and threatened to go on strike. The company finally conceded to a three-hour lunch break and unlimited Twinkies (the real reason those creme-filled sponge–cakes from heaven disappeared from your grocery store) but not before they hijacked the sleigh transporting the AB Seasons code as it was going out the door to Cupertino for approval. Our little friends cranked up the numbers on several levels before getting caught. The perps were sentenced to a day of hard labor – watching non-stop re-runs of “The Facts of Life,” while their colleagues pelted them with stale popcorn balls. I’m pretty sure they are reading our comments so let me thank them for figuring out that 119K would be the score popping up on my screen time after time after time after… OK, OK @birdleader sez I gotta put a paragraph break before my actual “strategy” to separate it from the meaningless garbage so here it is:
@johndogsdad, congrats on a stellar score. Your first shot sounds familiar but have you tried getting the presents and the right tree on that second shot with White Bird? The left tree has to be “trimmed” on the first shot; and you gotta agree it would be kinda nice to have two birds leftover at the end. Just drop the egg bird at the base of the wall protecting the three wrapped presents and let big Momma trim that tree on the right cliff. Let me know if it works for anybody else. Aloha.
I got my best scores with three birds like @johndogsdad strat. I agree with @austinRHL too in that you have to be patient for the left tree to topple over….wait to see if it’s gonna go.
@surfcow I was able to get a two birdie pretty much like you described, using the WB to knock the cement into the presents and take out the right tree but my score was lower at 127300. I had a few high scoring two birdies but ultimately three birds have gotten me several 130K+ scores. I sent first bird to the “V” ( the left one seemed to do better for me)then WB toward the middle/right area to hit remaining debris and take out right tree (if the first shot didn’t get it)…then send the third BB in to get more cement and presents, even if the left tree already slipped off the edge. Which by the way..for whatever reason, when the left tree does go over from the previous shots, the game seems to give you a better score rather then if you have to arch over it and get it along with the presents. Not sure why it makes such a difference? Very strange scoring though…very different outcomes even when sending all three birds on the same paths.
@lesleyg I noticed the exact same thing! It’s very strange and quite frustrating! Nice to see you! Hope your Mom is doing well! Kiss kiss :)
Thanks @kimmiecv ;-) Nice to see you too! I hope you are enjoying all of the updates ;-)
Loving them @lesleyg! My first ever advent and it been too fun!! :) I’m glad I broke down and decided to play with you all!! :D
@JohnDogsDad @AustinRHL — Thanks for posting your strat(s). I had a feeling the really high scores were from a different strat, Will have to give this one a try.
There’s no question this is a good strat and a nice alternative to the official video – but I have been getting around 120K consistently – what are you doing to pull 130+ out of it?
@playdbird the only thing I can tell you is I followed this strat and only got 130k once, since then like you I’ve been getting 120k. AB luck is what’s doing it! :/ for the life of me I can’t make it happen again!! Keep trying, and good luck!!
Haven’t been able to improve my score from 125K, which is now below average. I don’t think the whine (or wine for that matter) factor is working on this one. Anyone have some more detailed aiming instructions?
Yuriyigolkin got to 130K with same strat as video, but haven’t been able to get higher with that either.
@mvnla2 my frustration with this level has been incredible – I finally managed to crack 130k (sorry, I probably raised the average on you) – I assume you saw yuriyigolkin’s video on you tube? That’s what finally helped me, seeing the walkthrough method could score that high as I was having zero luck with all other strategies. The score after each shot is so important, especially min 55k after the 1st one. Took hours of flinging & probably a thousand birds. Good luck.
@mvnla2 i feel your pain..i can’t get anywhere and i agree niether the whine factor or the wine is helping :( good luck, I’ve tried just about everything …
Alright everyone knows I love a consistent aiming strat. On the iPad fully zoomed in, there is a bright star to the left of the sling post. Just to the left of the star will put the bomber through the middle of the center right handrail on the bridge. Just touching and overlapping the edge of same star will hit center left handrail.
My best results came from right side approach.
Some observations. The little stone handrail pieces are the best method to take out both trees. Therefore it might be better to manually explode the bb as it’s passing through the ropes and wooden plank instead of waiting till settling to the bottom of the v. That was the key to my score but YMMV. Depending on what is left determines what to do. Shot two to take out as much as possible. I found that NOT trying to skim the left tree if it was still there was better and I would manually explode bomber to get both presents and tree.
It is a great level because though you can clear it and smash stuff many ways, the three star threshold is high enough to make you think. I have toyed with using the icy left ramp to time blowing the left tree over to the right and have had the debris take out all of the right side, pigs, tree and arch. But it left the left side fairly whole and the egg bomb quite frankly is getting weaker and weaker. It does nothing more these days except serve as a rocket boost for the deflated body. Anyhoo.
Hope my points help especially you @mvnla2. Btw I’m visiting OC the 14-22. Get ready!
Well what do you know. @yuriyigolkin already has a video of my strategy! He just did it on the left side to be contrary but my right side score still beat his silly little YouTube video score! Show off!
Lol. Great job and thanks for Putting so many great videos!
@SwellD I’m totally confused. I can find only 1 @Yuriyigolkin video for this level, and it looks to me to be a high-scoring version of the ABN video strat. What am I missing? I take it you got it with 2 birds?
What are you doing in OC? What am I supposed to get ready for?
Alright @mvnla2 here are the differences.
1 WT vId bomb bird lands to the left of the first “handrail” and then rolls right before detonation.
1a yuriyigolkin’s bb lands in the middle of the handrail and detonates on impact manually
2 WT vid presents are not all cleared with first bird
2a presents all cleared w/ first bird
3 center area piled up debris
3a not so much
I used three birds. There are so many comments in this thread it may have been easy to miss my aiming points above.
As I posted above in my comment that was unfortunately awaiting moderation, the key is to NOT wait to let the bb drop all the way down. Read my pointers and watch yuriyigolkin’s video again. I seriously feel that going to the center right will yield higher scores. I’m working the night nocturnist shift tonight or I would have already topped my score. Just not enough time to play. You can dial in this level in no time my friend.
I am coming to LA to visit friends and I am going to seek out the housewives of orange county and show them how Kentucky fellas throw down! Lol happy holidays
yeah – this is definitely the best looking christmas edition yet – last years full of ice and snow was a bit too cold for me – roll on the green and red
@fatboyslick, I think it’s still a little early to be so optimistic, after all, this is only the first of 24 more levels.
@fatboyslick I totally agree! This is by far the best Christmas seasons to look at! I love the Northern lights and the candy canes in the background! Awesome! Has anyone noticed when the bomb birds go off everything shakes as it would with a real bomb? I’ve never noticed any of the other games do that. Too sweet!! @werewolf69 thankfully we can be as optimistic as we want!! ;)
@kimmiecv, I never said or implied that you couldn’t, I simply stated that since it’s only the first level, it may be a little early to surmise that the rest will be the same.
And also, @kimmiecv, I was referring to the ice and snow or lack thereof, not the colors.
Hmmm yeah you have a point @werewolf69, I’d be surprised if the snow doesn’t show up more in the levels to come! Oh the joy of the unknown!! ;D
well… i gots no NEW strategy to offer i don’t…. here are some random observations…. sorry if they have already been mentioned.
1. Probably not the best strategy but it IS possible to use the black bird and activate hime to the LEFT of the first tree and he can blow up at least 2 of the presents thru the ice. — i have been left with just the tree on the left on bird 3 before — so that would be when I use it…
2. Obviously there is timing need to really BLAM! the bridge… I have fiddled around with activating Blakbird at the EXACT time of impact, JUST after impact and JUST BEFORE impact…. it seems that if you do it just before impact you have a better chance of getting the presents instead of blocking them off with the stones….
3. I HAVE taken down the right tree on the first bird, but also flinging him as far as possible…. in other words i have seen it go down without being hit by any debris, but by the shockwave of the blast…. but it’s 1 in 20 attempts at best…. I dont know if he bends the bridge a bit and so he rolls up just the TINIEST bit in elevation or what, but i HAVE done it, and obviously it is a huge advantage….
4. I topped 80,000 on first bird once so far…. leaving only the tree on the right which of couse i missed completely with the 2nd bird because of course i got greedy and had to take a chance to get the most damage with the egg (GRRRRR)
aiiiiiight —- good luck!
I’ve read all the great comments and can’t get any meaningful destruction even in day 2! Now let the whine factor get me a score closer to 130K!
I have found that if you lob into the top of the second arch activating immediately it will take out all bar the xmas tree on the right. white bird to take out right xmas tree then use @karen68 method of slamming into curve at front of ice bar to pop presents. not particularly good score but the strategy does do a lot of damage on that first shot. i am finding this a most frustrating level
I see nice chatter in here, so sorry I couldn’t be apart of it on the day itself, been very busy and with my AB related neck injury I haven’t been able to fling for long periods of time. But I caught up tonight and wanted to share my videos, so sorry for not reading the other comments, I just don’t have the time tonight, will come back later for the reading though :)
I shot my first bird onto the left side of the right bridge. The Bomb bird fell thru the wood and into the gap. A lot of debris for lots of points. Only the tree on the right was left standing. I send in the white bird to finish of the piggies, but also send in the third bird directly after to take out the presents on the left. I got 131830 this way.
Here is my video
Happy Winter Wonderham!!
Thank you so much @E-Star! Have been trying for days and failing and thanks to your video this level is done.
Thanks for the video @E-Star although I’d been doing it just this way i wasn’t able to obtain average…seeing it actually does help a lot:) now i am done with WW yay!!!! :)
*claps enthusiastically* YEAH!! Kathy you made it thru before the year is at its end!!! Congratz!!
** Not an alternate strategy **
But when you get really really frustrated:
If you shoot the 1st Bomb Bird into the bottom of the left tree and then manually explode him that tree really flies! And usually takes out the right tree and the right big pig. Doesn’t lead anywhere from there but kinda satisfying…
For those looking for 3 stars – a 3 star can be done using all 4 of the birds. It’ll only be about 121k max but it can be done. This is a little unusual for any of the AB games.
lol, true…. your comment reminded me that earlier today I 1-birded a level and got only 1 star….
key for more highscore attempts is to manually explode into the 3rd “trampoline” and shoot the 2nd onto the left tree. I hope this makes sense.
This shot is very repeatable.
@crivit ‘Trampoline’? Not sure what you mean? I know it’s been a while , to say the least, but congrats on the great score:)
Ummm, a useless trivia for my anti-swine friends…
Did you know the total value for this level (i.e. Total Destruction) can yield up to 168-170k? A 3-birder will max-out at 178-180k, a 2-birder at 188-190k, and a 1-birder at 198-200k (all of which are NEAR impossible). We’re still VERY far away from those figures. Yeah, i’ve done my math… :D
This level is really hard but if you can hit at least 2 of the presents in the bottom left hand cave you should do it. i spent an hour on this.
Ok. I think that I’ve figured out the secret to this level. The key is in the second shot. Between the first and second shot, take a drink of your favorite beverage, somehow get it up your nose and flub the shot just enough to do more damage than you’d planned. Then fire the third bird as needed.
Haha! If only…….
Wonderham levels dont work.. only level 1…
You must have an active Internet connection. Try restarting your device and connecting to WiFi or 3G.
For any or all still trying to obtain an above average score, or your 1st 3* for that matter, don’t give up hope…the Angry Birds Seasons “gods” are still with us. After at least 72,598 tries & some whining in another post, it’s still possible to manage just the right shots to get the score you need.
I was stuck at a 125380, about 600 short of an above average score for almost 3 weeks…
I could never get the right combo when aiming 1st bird to the right of middle at the 3rd handrail as others suggest, INSTEAD this 1st bird was as on video, up in a high “tight” arc, but landing just right of the pig.. took out said pig, the tree on left, its pigs & all the presents (many times I’d had a similar shot~score, however, I believe the difference this time was at this point there was a fair about of destruction on left side & ***right side sustained some damage WITH THE SEMI-CIRCLE SAGGING. *** As best I recall, the score was not far under 60k, but I’m not 100% sure. I mention the score mostly because it’s something I usually find very helpful when peeking at a walk-through as I try to beat average or just better my score.
2nd bird up & towards the middle with intention to bounce up to get pigs & tree on the right.
3rd up arced & aimed to land about 1\4 way in from the left side of damaged semi circle.
Even though it’s almost 3 weeks since the start of this level, I hope this helps someone else. I doubt I’m the only one trying to beat the average, at least I hope I’m not alone. This level was the most frustrating out of the 20 to date; it was the only one where I could not beat the average & I think I do best on ABS. If you’re reading this, GO flinging.
yes yes yes ! thank you justpast40! i,m still trying. just got above average today on 1-2, not sure what i did that was different cept for flinging with abandon without attachment to the outcome. very frustrated with this 1st level. havent tried the public whining yet…..your words offer hope!
ok, 2 small improvements but i,m still 300 pts below average. how are ppl getting the SUPER HIGH scores????
