Below is our walkthrough for Angry Birds Epic Slingshot Woods Level 5. In the first of this three-wave battle, take out the Brawler before he can even attack. In the second wave, take out the pigmy before targeting this Brawler. If you can’t avoid his attack, redirect it to a shielded Red. Use the Rage Chili via the Blues at the beginning of the third wave and target whichever pig takes the damage. Whenever the Brawler is going to attack, defend the bird with the most health.
Note: The path splits after this level. Turn east to sequentially continue to Slingshot Woods Level 6, or take a left into Northern Slingshot Woods.

@AMSlimfordy — it appears that the difference between the default shield and the tire shield for red is, at a minimum, the fact that red can stun the Brawler, which gives the birds an extra turn before he attacks. Also, my enemy is a Brute, not a Brawler. Not sure how much difference it makes.
Actually, it’s a typo, the enemy in the first wave is a Brute, not Brawler.
A Brawler has
1170 health
186 damage and stuns target for 1 turn
Gains attack power while rage chili fills up
Brute has
1358 health
288 damage
doesn’t stun or gain attack power.
So I think the big difference is the stun capability that comes with the improved shield.
Does @anyone else remember how they got the shield?
@mvnla2 Shields only have 3 possible passive abilities: Vigor (receive less damage), Might (increase attack power), and Vitality (increase max health)
Interesting, the red with the default shield just stunned the brawler, so I managed to get through the first wave with everyone’s health intact.
No, your weapon stunned the Brawler, not your shield.
Has an update to the game changed the lineup? Because this video in no way correlates to my Slingshot Woods 5. I start with 2 Forest Pigmies, a Bird Catcher, and a Nature Pig. It’s still 3 waves, but I’m getting beat down hard even in the first.
Enemy lineups are somewhat random by design.
I am having the same lineup as @medicus, and keep getting creamed! On Samsung Galaxy s3, Android.
