The best strategy for Danger Above level 8-4 is to lob the first Black bird into the gap between the two wooden structures. This will cause a massive amount of destruction. Use the remaining Black birds as necessary to pop any pesky pigs. The score in the video below is 109,810.
Version 2022:
I used the same first bird aim, but Ithe result was different. everything collaps but the middle pig. I send the second bird straight throw. 2 birds left and I got 113840.
Here is my video, enjoy!
1. High-arc first Black in between two top wooden structures. It’ll be best if both helmet pig in the middle and right-most pig near the TNT (and the TNT itself) survived this. The fewer blocks left to the left, the better. Pardon the pun.
2. Low-arc second Black towards the debris as close as possible to the left of the helmet pig. This will usually ensure the far structure remain the way it was before the shot.
3. Third Black at higher arc to reach the far structure, detonating the TNT, the pig, and most importantly almost all that’s left.
These steps took quite some luck (as to how the blocks would stack after each bird) but not that much for scores around 120k. Thanks both @amslimfordy & @e-star for the impressive videos… :)
Good shooting BirdJo. Have to disagree though about the not much luck for 120k. All but 10 people may agree!
You would expect bomb bird to do more damage that it actually does ~ kinda wimpy!
Followed AMslimfordy’s video. Obtained a 1-bird solution with the first launch between the two wooden structures. The score is not as high as E-Stars because the higher scores appear to be obtained through debris destruction as viewed in the video. Gained 6k in points. If one aligns the right red eyebrow of the bomb bird with the right side of the right green background stem the bird ususally goes down the center opening. Minor adjusts are needed if the bird turns its head forward.
Just followed the written instructions about the first bird in between the wood and got great fallout. I did have to use a 2nd bird, but it helped cause more damage.
I pretty much just went low with the first pig and stayed there. One pig leftover and a score of 103,480; three stars.
Followed the walk through for above average score but still having trouble scoring over 120k
Same video at first bird. I got 76K!
Second bird straight clean.
121210/2 after 76k after the 1st, with the left part still standing, one accessible pig left but not much debris otherwise. have had 79k then with a similar set-up, so 123k should be reachable with 2birds as well i think (and more likely i guess; my scores for 2 birds are higher on average than with 3 birds).
I managed to get 107740 with one bird using the bird lob into the centre and sliding down the middle. I was unable to get more with one bird. I did however get over 112000 with 2 birds. Thanks For the vids.
That score is now 115040 with 2 birds using Estar technique. :-)
Instead of going high between the wooden structures I stayed low-aiming at the vertical stone on the bottom. Destroyed a lot more. Scored 111,000+ pts.
Same basic two-bird strat. After a few hours of high lobs on the first bird, I finally got 82k, with virtually all the wood and the tnt blown up. Still had helmet pig and the pig to his right left, so felt I was looking at a good score. A fairly low toss landing between them did the trick with 2 birds left over for 123k.
@silphespectre congrats on the top score on this level. Could you let everyone know what strat you used? Your score is some 8k higher than the next highest score!
@silphspectre sorry – got your user name wrong on my first try – would like to know how you got such a great score on this level.
Hi there Hallie! Absolutely – I got this one just a couple days ago! I went for a different strat than anything I’ve seen mentioned here; first bird I send into the left upper vertical stone plank, so that it goes through both and lands touching the bottom left of the horizontal wood planks. This clears out the wood almost entirely once he blows (which I found to be a big problem otherwise). With any luck you can then target the middle horizontal stone planks (above the helmeted pig) to fall into that crack and blow everything out from the bottom, and the destruction caused seems to be pretty luck-based from there. Currently in the moving process, but if I can get a video of a similar to you soon I will do so!
@silphspectre Cool! Thanks for the response. A video or screenshot would be great. Was this done with the 2022 Classics version or with the older version of the game?
@silphspectre hope your move is going well. Just checking back in the hopes of seeing a screenshot or video of your strat. By the way, I noticed that you have 9 top scores in Danger Above. I did not see that you had commented on any of the walkthrough pages. I’m not sure if you are aware, but it is customary that when you earn a top score that a comment explaining the strat and score proof is posted on the walkthrough page, particularly on these older levels that were released so many years ago. It does appear from your scores that you achieved them on the original version of the game. I encourage you to post comments and screenshots for all of your top scores. Otherwise, they may get flagged and removed. @sweetp
@silphspectre Hi. Still not seeing how your new two-bird strat can yield nearly 132k on this level. I tried it in both the Original and Classics versions and could not get over 120k with it. A screenshot showing the results of what you would consider a good first shot of your strategy,in whichever version you used, would go a long way to verify your score.
Regarding the Classics version, I got better scores going low and using 3 birds. For the first shot, I aimed at the top of the vertical stone block at the bottom left, breaking through the tiny square support just to the left of it, and following through the second vertical plank to land on the second tiny wood block at the bottom. Used two more low shots to destroy as much of the reminder as possible. Best score for me so far this way is 126k.
Hi there! Sorry haven’t been around much! The score was set on the Classics version of the game (that’s the only one that’s currently available on to download, right?) I have a screenshot of my best score result immediately after achieving it, and on the level screen itself. I also have a video just showing the strat, which netted me 127,330. I don’t see a way to post it on here; how can I get the pictures to you?
@silphspectre yes the Classics version became available earlier this year; Rovio discontinued support of the Original version a couple of years ago, though if you downloaded the Original version before then, you can still reinstall it thru Google or Apple play.
Classics scores rarely end in zero, but all of your posted top scores in Danger Above do, which is odd. You might want to recheck you scores on those levels and post screenshots for them.
You can upload screenshots to your album, located in your profile, then post a comment on the walkthrough page with a direct link to the screenshot.
For videos, post a comment on the walkthrough page with a link to the video on YouTube.
Gotcha! And yeah, it had been years and years since I came on here, so having seen the vast majority of scores ending in zero I had assumed it was common practice to round scores down out of fairness, as I thought perhaps some versions of the game didn’t have variable single-digit endings. I’ve fixed this one (131,773), and will do the same for the rest soon. I’ve also got two screenshots of my score on this one:

@silphSpectre In the Original version, scores always ended in zero (except for a brief period of time when scores that ended in 5 occurred – subsequently fixed by Rovio in an update). In the Classics version, scores can end with any digit, and the ABN leaderboards have been adjusted to allow for this.
There hasn’t been a lot of activity on the leaderboards from the Classics version, and I’m glad to see you and others are starting to explore what can be done with it. That is one impressive score you got on this level! I’ll have to give your strat another try.
Be sure to post screenshots anytime you achieve a top score. I’m looking forward to seeing what you can do in other Classics episodes. I hear Ham ‘Em High is putting out higher scores in Classics than it did in the Original.
