As many expected, the Cloud City update to Angry Birds Star Wars (v1.2.0) has landed on the Thursday during GDC! Who knows, maybe BirdLeader can give the Mighty Eagle a wink and a nod to say “I know it!”
Anyways, back to business. We reported last week that the update was coming soon, and indeed it has! I think the Rebel Birds were looking to relax after their escape from Hoth, but obviously their plans never quite work as expected. The update has landed for iOS, PC, Mac, and Android via Google Play and the Amazon Appstore, with more platforms coming soon.
Attention PC users: There seems to be a minor bug in this update. We can’t pin down exactly what causes the issue, but there seems to be issues if you have 3-starred the vast majority of levels. Per Rovio Support: “Our wonderful QA team has now been able to find the bug in the game and we are now working on a fix to get it resolved. Hopefully we get it released soon!”
This update includes:
20 levels of Cloud City, based in Bespin with 20 more coming in a future update. The levels are pretty cool and a bit challenging, but that’s fine in my book! Walkthroughs are live and can be found in the Cloud City walkthrough category.
2 new Bonus levels! The 9th Star Bonus level unlocks at 555 stars, and the 8th Droid is the one you seek in Bespin! We won’t say here where to find the Droid you are looking for, but our guide may say it.
Boba Fett Missions! (iOS/Android only): This episode consists of 10 levels, all pretty challenging, and all containing the bounty hunter Boba Fett (obviously). To unlock the episode, you can either spring for the $0.99 USD IAP or you can find all 5 jetpacks, scattered across the galaxy. Now, please DO NOT post the locations here. We do have walkthroughs for each level and also show you how to find each jet pack.
New steam element, which works similar to the geysers in Red Planet of Angry Birds Space.
2 new Characters to be unlocked, plus one more coming soon! You can now send tweets about your “trophy” (i.e., your unlocking of a character) directly from the page by clicking on it! (Rovio, it seems, plans to add a toggle feature here, to avoid youngsters tweeting on their parents’ behalf.)
