I just wanted to take a moment to thank Rovio for the newest update to Angry Birds 2 – it really is amazing how much it’s changed things. You see, it used to be that every day at work I would steal a few minutes…or more (much more)…and play AB2. As a result, my productivity would regularly suffer – much to the chagrin of my employer. But I really enjoyed the puzzle-solving aspect of the game and the satisfaction of successfully defeating the progressively more difficult levels. Now, with the newest update and the introduction of these super-fun gravity levels, things at work have really improved. You see, as a result of the recent update and tweaks, I don’t play your game anymore. At all. In fact, I quickly learned to despise it so, to eliminate the feelings of hate an betrayal I felt every time I looked at my phone, I deleted the game. For whatever reason, until these new levels were introduced, I actually (and foolishly, it seems) believed that you respected me and the people like me who play your game(s) – the fun, puzzle solving games. Thanks to you and your update, I now know that I was wrong. I mean, what was I thinking? I’m really quite embarrassed by the realization that you don’t respect me and that, in fact, you probably never did. So, at bottom, I guess I (and my employer) really want to thank you for these new levels and the tweaks to the game overall that have made it impossible to play successfully without paying more money or feeling as if I lucked into defeating any particular level – and, before I forget, thank you for including fake “players” in the head-to-head challenges so that I was made to fell as if I were playing against a real person’s actual score. It was uncanny how often I almost won the battle, but fell short, unless I watched a free video and earned another bird. What are the odds? Amazing. I also want to thank you for demonstrating how quickly and easily it is to squander years of good will by rolling-out an update that is as transparently rigged as any I can imaging. It should be a case study on how to fail as an app-based business in the 21st century. Anyway, thanks again for helping me see what you really think of me and the people like me. I’ll remember this valuable less as I spend my time – and the disposable income I have – elsewhere. Bye bye.
