Partshade@partshadeI’m sure they’re working on it. Epic’s Facebook page is completely gone too and I can no longer get my friends to load. Probably trying to get rid of all the extensions before shutting down the game itself.
Partshade@partshadeSurprised it made it this long, honestly. Now I just wonder if they’ll close the servers anytime soon or wait until the last remaining players leave by choice.
Partshade@partshadeStarted playing the day the game was released. Still do for a few minutes everyday, though it’s hard to find any real motivation anymore.
Partshade@partshade@chutybutyful Rovio wanted their discontinued games removed from all the different app stores, most likely because they were no longer profitable.
The difference here is the policies that vary between the app stores. Apple freely allows developers to remove their apps at will, so Rovio had no issue removing them. Additionally, iOS is particular about only allowing apps from the app store to be installed. So, unless you jailbreak the device, there’s no way to get them back on an iPhone.
Android is a bit different. Google Play allows developers to unpublish the apps from those who haven’t installed them yet, but they can’t remove the app entirely. Google’s terms of service say that anybody who downloads the app gets a lifetime license, and has the right to download it forever. As a result, all of the old AB games are pretty much stuck in a limbo. The good news is that Android does allow installation of apps outside Google Play, so anybody with an Android device who wants one of the games can install the .apk file directly from a trusted website, like APKMirror.
Partshade@partshadeA more profitable demographic, sadly. I don’t agree with what they did, but I understand why. Kids love those games because they’re colorful and, quite honestly, thoughtless. Literally anybody can be good at them, and feeling successful keeps you coming back. When you’re not, there’s the enticement to spend some cash on boosts.
The reason why I believe the original Angry Birds games weren’t profitable is because we simply didn’t need the Power-Ups. Some of the levels of the bubble and match-3 games are unpredictable and actually required PUs, but Angry Birds always had some kind of strategy behind it, defeating the purpose of PUs for those who really cared to learn it.
And sadly, Rovio wants the old games off the app stores. I only learned this just recently, but Google Play doesn’t allow you to delete your own apps, only unlist them from being visible to those who don’t have it yet. Apple does allow it, and now there’s not even a trace of the old games over there. If they were possible to get rid of on Google, I bet they’d be gone in a heartbeat.
Partshade@partshade@mechanicpig45 I can probably update it at some point. Haven’t been into Epic for a while, but can play a bit to get the latest info. It’s really been hard to grind anywhere since Rovio stopped castles from always matching your current level. The last few caves seem to be the only thing that’s really giving me a meaningful amount of EXP.
Partshade@partshadeThis isn’t the end of the world. We don’t need the play store to do everything.
APKMirror has them available and is run by Android Police, one of the largest and most trusted android content sites out there, so you can be sure that it’s completely legal and there’s no malware.

Angry Birds will never truly be gone. With as popular as these apps are, there will always be ways to obtain them.
Still curious about a couple of the games themselves though. Bad Piggies doesn’t let me to save cloud data to Facebook anymore. Epic still can but friends no longer load, events are still running shockingly. Seasons did end Pig Challenge but cloud saves still work fine. Most of all, Rovio Account still works great if you have it. If Rovio really is removing these games for good, how long until they lose all the internet and ad services and become purely offline? Especially since it would cause Epic and Go! to cease to function entirely.
Partshade@partshadeYou have to either buy him in the shop or win him from Carbonite melting. A good number of the characters don’t naturally appear in levels, so you’ll be unlocking a lot of them this way.
Partshade@partshadeMy comment about the game ending was a joke. I’m just saying, technically they finally found what they were look for after all these years so now everyone can go home. :P
Partshade@partshadeIsn’t this supposed to mean the game’s over? I mean, the whole objective from day one was recovering the Eggspark, and it looks like they just did. :P
Partshade@partshadeGet the Chili. It’s extremely helpful for getting a headstart on your opponents. Classes and Elite classes should be your next priority after that, as they are 1 time purchases that scale with your level and will always come in handy. Unless you’re already level 100, Pig Machine you should only focus on if you absolutely need the items to advance. Otherwise, you’re just spending precious gold on items that will be quickly outclassed by stronger ones.
Partshade@partshadeI honestly have no clue. It’s a confusing situation. Facebook definitely doesn’t save data for Epic, according to this:
https://support.rovio.com/hc/en-us/articles/204104368-Will-my-game-progress-sync-between-my-devices-
However, they can still transfer data to another device without either of those services:
Not nearly as secure or efficient, but I guess new players aren’t completely screwed.
Partshade@partshadeAre you talking about ‘So Shiny’? It’s an ability that Greed (The top left Hogrider) has that completely blocks all damage from an attack, while also healing them for 50% of that damage.
Partshade@partshadeI feel like this has to be Mirage. Bit of a stretch in looks, but I can’t find anybody else who comes close to him besides Blurr (Who seems too bright in color for this character). Prowl and Bluestreak have also had a fair share of missions with Mirage, so he would make sense for the Brothers in Armor squad.
Partshade@partshade@optimuspig @optimusbren I’d say Energon Optimus is most effective against them, but even then, any of our options doing well on WMT day is a longshot.
Rovio had to be on something when preparing this event…
Partshade@partshadeDepends. Do you desperately need more strength for Skulkers right now, or are you handling well where you currently are? Personally, I’d get another class just so you have more options to choose from, but if your Skulkers really need the extra strength, then upgrading them to Elite would be better.
Partshade@partshadeSome small changes I’ve noticed:
Energon Optimus Prime’s Star Saber can now be purchased for 1000 gems in the barracks.
Coin cost for recharging bots has been very slighty changed. For example: Recharging a bot with one heart missing used to cost 60 coins. Now it costs 50.
You’re now no longer able to enter the pig lab if you don’t have enough materials to craft anything.
Gem purchases in the shop will reward twice as many gems if you haven’t bought any before.
Partshade@partshade@soloaz It’s a problem for those who farm Gem Pigs. Usually people bring in low damage birds to try and squeeze as many gems as possible out of them before being KO-ed. Thing is, Smartbomb does a lot of damage, so it results in a loss of reward from them.
Not that it matters anymore though. Since the introduction of the new perks that have multiple ranks, our Smartbomb definitely isn’t running out any time soon. :P
Partshade@partshade@kathy Yeah. It honestly still baffles me as to why Rovio thought it would be in any way profitable to completely disregard the very games and players that made them rich in the first place, and instead make a bunch of bubble and matching games, just like 80% of the other games on the appstore, and just slap an Angry Birds theme on them. Even the birds and pigs are slowly becoming more like advertising mascots instead of the emotional beings they once were. :/
Partshade@partshadeIt’s was actually really nice of Rovio to give us a break and make the token thresholds extremely low (For today anyway…). I’ve got 11 accessories to get, one of them being the Star Saber, and knocking out all 3 Spark prizes on the first day helped tremendously.
Partshade@partshadeAnother new game was soft launched:
http://www.pocketgamer.biz/news/67480/rovio-soft-launches-angry-birds-blast-island/
Kinda weird that of all the games they could make a sequel to, it’s Blast. Epic, Slingshot Stella, or Space would have been so much cooler.
Partshade@partshade@datguygamer Dang, that’s steep. Anyway, thanks.
Partshade@partshade@datguygamer How much does the 5th bot cost? 2000?
And yeah, the rose/ruby red color looks epic.
