Miracle on 34th Street (1947)
Miracle on 34th Street is a movie set in a grocery store on the streets of New York. There, old man Kris Kringle was assigned the task of posing as Santa Claus to deliver presents on Christmas Eve. With the joy and hope that he brings to the children on 34th Street of New York City, the lives of the people here suddenly become magical and difficult to understand. This is a film with deep human values, suitable for those who are hurt or feel depressed in the hustle and bustle of life.
A Christmas Story (1983)
Set in Indiana in the late 40s, A Christmas Story tells the story of a nine-year-old boy – Ralphie Parker. While the other children all want a small, beautiful gift on Christmas Eve, Parker wishes for a Red Ryder BB gun. Therefore, the boy decided to go on an adventure to find his favorite gift. The film revolves around an eight-year-old boy – Kevin McAllister is forgotten by his family during the Christmas holiday. Alone at home, this smart boy bravely fights off two goofy thieves Harry and Marv with unique games. Since its debut, Home Alone has remained the same, still giving the audience endless laughter when enjoying the movie again.
The Nightmare Before Christmas (1993)
The Nightmare Before Christmas is a classic animated film directed by Henry Selick, based on a script by Tim Burton. The film tells the story of Jack Skellington – a king of the Halloween festival who is bored when he only gets to work once a year and has to wait until next year’s festival season.
On one occasion, he strayed into Christmas Town and was completely captivated by its splendid decoration. After returning, Jack decided to create a Christmas celebration in his town. And so everyone prepares Christmas presents in the style of Halloween. Although it is considered too “dark” for children, this film is still loved by many generations of audiences.
The Santa Clause (1994)
Although it was released 24 years ago, up to now, The Santa Clause has still won the hearts of millions of viewers. The film tells the story of a young boy named Scott Calvin who is awakened in the dark by a strange noise on the roof. And after going out, Scott saw the figure of Santa Claus. The person disappears and leaves a card saying that the boy is going to be a real Santa.
Love Actually (2003)
Christmas Eve is also the time when couples enjoy gentle romantic movies. And Love is the suggestion for that wonderful thing. The film is a combination of 8 different love stories, in which each story has its nuances and troubles. But after all, on Christmas Eve they warmed each other with love. This work not only brings many meaningful messages on Christmas Eve, but it also emphasizes that everyone is surrounded by love.
Elves (2003)
Elf (Lovely Fairy) will bring the audience a new taste. The film is about a boy who was abandoned and brought in by Santa Claus. When he grew up, he was told the truth by Santa Claus. Then he decided to go find his biological father. However, when he met his biological father again, he was not accepted by his father, but even abandoned. It took a long time for him to conquer his father and stepmother and his half-sister.
The Polar Express (2004)
An animated work adapted from a children’s book of the same name, The Polar Express offers those who want to immerse themselves in a lovely, colorful fairy tale world. The film tells the journey of a boy from seeing an express train on Christmas Eve to being able to set foot on that train and travel to many new and exciting lands.
The Holiday (2006)
The Holiday (Where Love Begins) is a movie about two women at work. When both of them are tired of their current lives and realize the Christmas break is coming, they decide to switch houses to find many new things. It was also this decision that helped them find the other half of their lives. The humorous situations of the characters in the film also bring laughter to the audience on Christmas Eve. In addition, this film also features four cult actors: Kate Winslet, Cameron Diaz, Jack Black, and Jude Law.
A Christmas Carol (2009)
Adapted from the novel of the same name by the great writer Charles Dickens, A Christmas Carol is always on the list of movies worth watching when the Christmas season returns. The main character of the film is old man Ebenezer Scrooge who is very stingy and mean. Thanks to ghosts from the past, present, and future visiting his house, he realized the mistakes he had made. The film sends a message to everyone that sharing kindness and forgiving others’ mistakes to find happiness and serenity in life
