Ye agreed. Don’t bother with upgrade until you have to. No record facility for me either cuntil jailbreak for ios 7 is available. I love Apple stuff but not their IBM-style, rule-the-world, thou shall not do, attitude. Artificial restrictions on an amazing platform is counter productive. In my opinion anyway!
So some new levels have arrived. Brilliant! Love the new BB and all the quirky ghosty birds that just pop up and do lots of amazing stuff. Well done Rovio. I’ve put up my three star scores so far and I see I have a long way to go. Some of the high scores may need to be challenged in the future but right now it’s go go go!
I have only played 5 levels, and they are fun. I had two high scores in those two this morning, easily 5k to 10k above the highs that were there, but I do generally not enter them until all finished. I see people are using extra bonus birds however (25-3 walkthrough), which is similar to power-ups, so we need to get that figured out and only allow clean scores.
I’m happy to see that this update is truer to the classic AB games than previous updates. My only complaint is that the Black Bird Power Up button is so close to the restart button. I’ve accidentally hit it multiple times.
Can anyone identify the difference between versions 3.4.0 and 3.4.1? The former just appeared in the app store but the description offers no insight into any differences from the latter. Appreciate any input. Thanks, Jim

Ok, that’s it. It happened again, got 18 of those things left. Could save my score by closing down the game and restart it. Counting wasn’t started so my old scores are left. Is there any level where we could dump entirely these things without killing all the pigs? When you push on that icon, the special bomb (or what is it?) launches directly. Don’t think this is fair.
I’m gonna wait for our Advent Calendar, next sunday. I hope there will no such things present.
@bernersenn Go to the front title screen, click the gear, then the lightning bolt. This will disable PUs.
@amslimfordy, thanks for this tip. Did it at once. That’s resolved for now. But, that black thing with the ’18’ in it, hasn’t disappeared. As mentioned, I pushed it already twice abusely, for now without ruining my score – no reason for ruining, cause they are all evil yet – but you never know. As said I hope that they will situate this button in the Advent Calender in another place.

@AMslimfordy – I really appreciate you pointing out that PUs could be disabled. That new shockwave icon is positioned in a spot where it can easily be activated accidentally. Now that is disabled, that won’t be a problem for me. Thank you.
I have accidentally activated it more than a couple times.
After several accidental activations, I finally just kept tapping the button and restarting without flinging until the BBs were at zero balance. Now if I accidentally hit the button, I get the prompt to confirm my purchase and I just cancel. Still a minor inconvenience but I don’t have to restart in the middle of a potentially good game to avoid contaminating my scores.
you can disable the power ups altogether in the settings on the home screen. just click on the cog!

Must say that now I’m rid of the PU’s I’m enjoying very much this episode. The blue liquid, the multiplying of the pigs and the big pigs. Yes. Compliments to the programmers of Rovio!
I completely agree.
The potions making pigs have analogous properties to the birds of the same color is a very neat idea. At present, Short Fuse has blue (triplicate, but also getting a spin which i do not recognize from blue birds), pink (bubble, lift), and orange (balloon, expand) potions but other colours are certainly imaginable, in particular a black potion that will make pigs explode, or (big) red potion to turn pigs into big heavy ones? Can’t think immediately of something nice for white, yellow or green but probably Rovio programmers can. i am looking forward already to what the next Short Fuse world will bring, in the meantime having fun with the present levels.
Also very neat is that potions may be combined modularly. In particular the exponential replicating behaviour of the blue potions combined with the expansive behaviour caused by pink or blue leads to `explosive situations’ (literally, level 26-15 crashes every 10 minutes or so in my case, iPad 2, iOS 6.1.3), much likes fireworks (the behaviour caused by blue potion reminds me of ground bloom flowers). However it seems to work only in one direction, a potion can be applied only to a pig affected by blue potions. Although it could make sense to apply the blue potion to a pig expanded by the pink potion, the flask just bounces off or breaks. Same for pink. In the case of pink it would be spectacular if bubbles including their content could be replicated by blue, or even that bubbles could be nested inside each other (pink on pink), but all this would probably be prohibitively expensive, computationally (the physics engine already seems to have reached its limits in levels like 26-15) and might even easily lead to non-terminating behaviour/replication.
Like @va3thn, I cannot enter my high score. I did not use any power ups and have all 20 Black Bird shockwave freebies also unused. It is in fact level 25-3, and my score is 105120. I can send a screen shot to prove everything. Please fix this isssue asap so I can enter the score. Thank you!
@BirdLady There is no “issue” that needs to be corrected. That score must be obtained using the Shockwave Power Up.
If you truly believe the score is “clean” of Power Ups, please submit all .lua files (directions here) to contest (at) angrybirdsnest (dot) com.
There is no “belief,” it is a fact. I am not going to spend half the nite figuring out how to do a backup, etc., to prove to ABN I am being truthful. While the Guide is nice, it is beyond my capabilities to do. I simply update when Rovio pushes out the. apk files/games thru Google Play and start flinging birds. However, since the “contest” is being co-sponsored by/with Rovio, I shall send them a nice detailed email regarding my issue with ABN and scoring. On the other hand, if highest scores were simply allowed to be posted, and should that particular person win, I would have no problem with some form of verification such as the .lua files you referred to, as most contests require some manner of winner verification. Although, once again, I would require assistance in order to accomplish such a task, which should be able to be accomplished via email. I am not an idiot, but I found Bad Piggies so hard to figure out how to pass each level that I uninstalled it. In addition, I am so broke that I do NOT buy power ups, Space eagle etc.; thus, I am offended by the implication of being a liar or cheater. Therefore, if ABN wants me to send the files as “proof,” since a screen shot is not good enough, please email them to me, as I am a member, my email should be on file. Otherwise, let me enter my scores. Thank you for your assistance regarding this matter.
I’m sorry @BirdLady but mathematics do not lie. The maximum amount of points possible on this level using Yellow Birds is 86 or 87k. I’m not calling you a liar or a cheater. This level is very deceptive the first time being played, and most users will use the Shockwave Power Up that is provided for them the first time, since Rovio prompts the user to do so if PUs are not explicitly disabled.
Since the distinction between Power Up and “clean” scores are not displayed on-screen in ABo, but only visible in data files, screenshots are insufficient for proving one way or another. The only alternative that I can think of is providing your Rovio Account information — if you play Angry Birds signed in to Rovio’s Cloud System.
We absolutely want the highest scores on ABN, but restricted to non-PU scores. We also want passionate members on-site, which is what you are. I’ll gladly work with you to come to some agreement.

@AMslimfordy I’d like to say something that I’m hopeful is beneficial in more than 1 way.
1st and foremost, I’d like to sincerely thank ABN (& epslipwich, although assumptive), for being cordial and civilized, rather than condescending and rude. I was treated so poorly in the past by another member, to the point of being bullied, that I have not contributed or visited ABN in several months. Simple courteousness and decorum go a long way, especially when utilizing the written word, which is far more open to interpretation than the spoken 1.
2nd, it might behoove Rovio to consider a program methodology to differentiate between PUs, swapped characters (e.g. ABSW), etc., which is clearly shown on/in the score. I’ve seen something like this with/in other ABs, so it must be possible. I’m aware the relationship between ABN and Rovio is good; thus, I think it would be mutually beneficial.
3rd, and without dredging up an old wound, I honestly encourage @steviep147 to take it down a notch or pull back the reins a tad bit. I may recall it was @asher who handled a verbal haranguing so well it was noted by @BirdLeader that things could have spiraled out of control but did not do so, or something along those lines.
4th, and lastly, we would probably all like to believe no one manipulates the system, is trying to pull a fast one or pull the wool over another’s eyes, so-to-speak. I also understand there needs to be a series of checks balances. I really think the key is in the presentation. A concerted, harmonious effort to keep people honest and on the up-and-up is one thing, but calling someone or anyone out in a public arena for all to see is quite another.
Therefore, ABN, can we please ask members to accomplish this via another means? ABN puts in a lot of work, and far be it from me to wreak havoc or create more work for anyone. My ideas are just that…ideas. However, I have known, and heard of, people who have committed suicide over harsh words, false allegations and/or public humiliation. While I understand this would never be someone’s direct intent, it could do damage or harm to another human being unintentionally, but you still end up with the same end result…food for thought.
@birdlady, I wanted to chime in here as I feel bad you have been treated poorly in the past. That is just not acceptable. While we’re all competitive here, in the end its still just a game. The main purpose is to compete against other players who are passionate about the game, share strategies, and try to get high scores.
Unfortunately, any time there is competition, there are cheaters. Most cheaters are discovered quickly though, and move on. People who spend time here, get involved in discussions, and share with others generally don’t cheat in my opinion. And if anybody cheats, what do they really accomplish? You would still know yourself you are a fraud, so its silly.
I know @asher has received some slack in the past as they came in with high scores, a lot of high scores, and behavior that seemed unrealistic. While the PC platform allows for more control, tools to repeat mouse cursor positions and specify specific pixel positions, I would like to give @asher the benefit of the doubt due to their contributions to this board.
As far as the PUs are concerned, I wish Rovio would just provide two scores on the screen, a regular one, and a PU one for those who want to use this feature. Like this, there would be no question. And it could add another level of competition as people could then compete for the possible highest PU score which I assume would take some strategy as well. We would not be able to account for other fraud and/or cheating but it would at least take the PU possibility away from actual scores achieved. I understand that in this 25-3 level, the new bird was added without question as the first bird. I never saw this as I don’t have PUs enabled, so I don’t know what that looked like or how that could have caused confusion. As a result though, any score above what seems mathematically possible has received a lot of question. If this had been recorded in a separate score field, regular scores would not have to be questioned as much. Just my $0.02
The admins on this board do a great job, so if you receive any flack in the future, I’m sure they like to hear about it. I doubt they would like to see people bullied away from the site.

Well, participating to the life of ABN can be tough when you feel like you can be ambushed at a poor choice of words or just by giving an opinion.
Since I have been suspected of wrongdoings from the start (and to put it mildly, quite vehemently so), I much prefer keeping a low profile, flinging a lot, trying to explain in detail how it is possible to achieve high scores.
A reply telling that one of my strategies has helped increasing one’s score is rewarding enough.
If it has helped besting one of my high scores, I am not so happy (hey, I’m human) but then it is just a game ;-)
Anyway, it is not like I was not tempted a few times to reply or add to a comment, but somehow it felt like intruding in a conversation between favorite friends (or sometimes foes) and you are not sure where it can lead you. Especially, if it has happened in the past.
I read a lot though, and I must say that 95% of it is good natured and well behaved. But from time to time, let’s say it could have been better without the bullying.
So @birdlady, I understand your feelings, and I just wish that you will continue to participate.

@asher, I know I contributed to the discussions about your scores, and part of this was the fact that you were a new players, rapidly moving up and entering many high scores. This is typical behavior that we see from people trolling the scoreboards. But those type of people tend to disappear.
I know I personally have doubted your scores in the past, and have questioned the PC platform, but eventually decided to give you the benefit of the doubt, as I stated earlier. Somebody with true bad intentions would have given up already, and you have provided valuable tips for specific levels.
Other top players have at times hit fluke scores, and even those get questioned, but probably less compared to other players, but I believe as long as scores are properly verified, they will be accepted as such.

One feature that we’re actively working on here is the ability to import one’s scores. But to do so would still require gaining access to one’s .lua files.
As for PU scores being distinguished visually in-game, trust me, we keep asking Rovio about this. It has appeared in 3 of 6 apps (Seasons, Space, SW), is impossible in 2 (Rio, SW2), and absent-but-possible in 1 (ABo). We can’t justify why it is absent, but we’ll continue hounding them as best we can without burning bridges.
@amslimfordy, one thing I have thought about would be an ABN app, which would verify each score against .lua files, or whatever the files would be depending on the platform; potentially uploading such status to a server. I’m sure it would be quite some work, supporting all platforms, but maybe a way to get full verified status and have a certified score for each level. Or maybe I’m just dreaming. I have started thinking about app development, and this is one of the apps that I could see use for.
Well, it’s as simple as sending the lua files to a Rovio web service (REST API?) with a simple question.
What it the highest score for the xx level, and how was it obtained (PU wise).
As long as Rovio is providing such web service, it is not really complicated to make it work.

Did the Bomb bird shockwave powerup pop up when you first access 25-3? I’m sure it did, right? In fact, you’re not supposed to have the shockwave bomb bird as your default bird in the first place. 25-3 only has two yellow birds and one big brother bird by default.
I would suggest making an exception to the PU rule for 25-3. Like most people working a brand new level, I used the Shockwave PU without realizing it was a power up. I thought it was just some new bird feature.
That would not be fair for those who have had PUs disabled since day 1, like myself. I am not going to enable this feature in order to be able to compete in this level. I highly doubt this is going to happen, or be considered as a valuable solution. The solution is simple, disable power UPS.
I know and I did understand the purpose of it.
But you were never aggressive in any way and that’s a world of difference.

birdday! found out because got notified about an update for my mac, which not only includes short fuse but a new birdday world as well, the style of which (after playing the levels to 3-star them) reminds me most of the first birdday part world (but having popping cakes). the worlds are in reverse order in the app (labelled by the respective birddays, 4,3,2) with the latest birdday coming first. not immediately clear to me how to accomodate that here at ABN, given the present numbering of worlds, but i’m sure the team will come up with some nice way to do it.

yes there are. 15 in bp. now also announced at the abn main page, but when i made my comment and for several hours after, there was nothing yet (different release times in different countries? or just that people in usa were still sleeping)

maybe it was part of the surprise? (don’t use social media myself, other than abn :-) playing the new birdday party levels after having played short fuse for a while, feels a bit like coming back from the autobahn in germany into the netherlands; in short fuse one is often playing for 10k, 30k or even higher amounts (btw as you are playing short fuse now, i think there still are 10s of ks to be had) whereas in birdday party it is more like 1k at the time. although it doesn’t make a difference in the precision required etc. the sensation somehow is different. enjoy!
After installing the latest update for Birdday Party, I noticed that the set up for golden egg 31 has changed. There are only two blue bottles on the hanging board instead of four. That severely limits the scoring possibilities. Has anyone else seen this?
This occurred both on the ipad and the mac.
I’ve asked Rovio about it.
Any immediate thoughts on how to handle 4 and 2 potion high scores? And, how about recognizing those potentially astonishing high scores on Golden Eggs #31 that just weren’t accumulated because the player screwed up the last shot? I’ve got several multi-million screenshots with one lone pig remaining. On second thought, I’d reather not be reminded. I hope your interaction with Rovio is productive, the number of reported glitches seems to have increased remarkably.
Any update on this? I had not played the new golden eggs yet, and now would like to upgrade to get back in the boards. Would be nice though to get #31 same as anybody else before update, otherwise I have to keep trying to get a higher score on this before I update.
there always was a delay between the leaderboards as shown when logged into your account (up to date) and the ones when not logged in (delayed). this used to be limited to a few hours in my experience, but recently this has become more. for instance, at this moment, when not logged in, the new birdday party levels (released four days ago and available when logged in soon after) do not show when i select that episode and in short fuse the scores shown are at least four days old (also, scores vary between the main leaderboard, episode leaderboard and personal leaderboards)? i’m pretty sure it is not a caching issue locally, on my devices, but if i’m the only one experiencing the above i’ll look into that again.
I also see the same lack of synchronization: out-of-date when not signed in and OK when signed in.
seems fine again now. thanks to the admins.
unrelated: playing the new birdday party levels i just noticed that the awesome top score of the first birdday level (birdday 2 level 1, 96k) had been beaten. the comments for that level explain why: an extra bird has been added to the level (so 106k should be the goal now). the same holds for the first ham’em high level (level 12 1). don’t know exactly when this happened and whether the same holds for some other levels, so what’s the best way to get to know such changes here at ABN?
Is there an extra bird on 12-1? Have scores changed? Would be good to know when levels change, and why.

@moondoggie, @vuelva, @amslimfordy; taking some days off for the holidays, and finally have a respectable score on GE31. If I update today, any other levels part of the discussion with Rovio? For Birthday party 2-1, the first level, I see 4 birds. Has this changed to 5? How about Ham’n’High, where 12-1 has 4 yellow birds?
Just want to make sure I know all impact that will prevent me from getting higher scores, which would be less birds, or less potions. More birds is good to know obviously, but less birds or potions would be good to know. If only GE31 was negatively impacted, I will update today and GE caught up over the holidays.

I went through the entire Danger Above episode and 6-1 was the only level that had changed. I will look at other episodes later…I have Xmas dinner to cook first. The changes may not be that drastic. It is a pain to check every level, but I think everyone deserves a fair chance to redo altered levels. I will post my findings, but would appreciate volunteers to check other episodes. It is kind of tedious, but really doesn’t take too much time. I think that unless Rovio cannot provide a list of changes, a systematic search and posting of changes would be more beneficial than helter-skelter postings. Happy holidays to all.

How are you comparing them? I have not updated yet, so could look at some before, then after once I update. Would be tedious and time consuming however. Unless you’re comparing the after to the lost provided by Slim.
strange, these sudden changes in long stable levels. maybe software engineering issues (compiling wrong version of a level against new library; would love to see the changelogs of rovio’s version control system)? not nice for people at the top of those leaderboards, eg having to replay just because there’s another bird. looking at @bastieroxxor ‘s comments it seems there’s also a change (but that one making it more difficult) in one of the mighty feathers levels, all of which suggests there are other changes as well. don’t know what would be the best way to keep track of this. a changelog on the walkthrough page of each level (do these changes also affect the n-star thresholds?) with crossreferences to the release info of the respective versions? seems rather heavy.
The changes are more than just additional birds. The elimination of the pig in B-day 2-2 will increase scores, because one-birders are likely. I just increase my score by ~8K. In Danger Above 6-1, birds changed from 3 reds and 1 yellow to 2 each. That shouldn’t affect scores, but the two right end pigs are now on a stone platform which will increase scores. I think unless Rovio can supply a list of changes, the only way I know is to compare the videos with current version, completely.
I may update then, so I can catch up. I wanted a 2 million+ score on GE31 first with those 4 potions that changed to 2 with the update. Took me over a week of repeating t get there.
Thoughts please! Did Rovio tweak some of the levels on Short Fuse with the last update? Reason I ask is that I’ve been trying to improve scores on a number of levels but can’t get anywhere near previous scores, let alone beat them. I find 26/15 particularly odd, as what seemed to work previously, doesn’t any more! Bad flinging on my part? Anyone else?
I have not updated yet as there was an issue with Golden Eggs 31 missing potion bottles, and am waiting for an update on that. @amslimfordy was going to talk to Rovio about it, have not seen an update yet. Hope they did not alter more levels. Those potions make huge differences. I’m dropping down the boards fast, but know my real scores. Just don’t want to update if there is a risk of not being able to further improve first.

Any “news” Slim? Had a thought on this. I was complaining Dec 10 as usual! about level 26-15 crashing, particularly with a potential very high score. An update came out on the 12th which may have addressed this issue (not had a crash since) but had an adverse effect on score potential. Just a thought. Have there been any 300k plus scores entered since then, particularly on the Apple platform?
Maybe the changes in potions are to avoid crashes. The combined effect can be wild. I really thought yesterday I had a high on GE31 when all blue potions the right spot, followed by orange. Although it was not close to the current high, I have never seen this many enlarging pigs on my screen, and the expansion and explosion was moving at a very very slow pace. I made screen shots and was surprised it did not crash. Will have to wait updating though if they changed other levels negatively.
hey pointdexter5. I don’t compete in GE’s but suspect that all new levels that had crashes have been noted by rovio and ameliorated but not to our advantage. i love that word ameliorate! last heard of on “breaking bad”.’v cool! good luck with the highs. oh and happy christmas too.
I generally don’t compete on GE myself, but I have had several 2.5 mil scores with one pig not wanting to die, so I’m obsessed now trying to finish this before upgrading, stuck at 1.7.

Usually power up scores have a wee lightning symbol in front of them, but they don’t in this game! I’m on iOS. Is this correct or I am missing something obvious?

Good Morning, happy New Year’s Eve.
Yesterday I was on a flight. Of course, I wanted to use the time to play Angry Birds – improving my score in GE 31.
There was no wifi in the plane and I had my iPad in flight mode.
When I opened Angry Birds, all scores were zero. And the golden egg page was greyed out.
Do you have any idea how I can save my scores locally, so that they also are available when not logged in?
I tried to get the egg again, but that doesn’t work.

I too have had issues with this. It’s caused by Rovio’s Sync. facility, which when logged in supposedly allows high scores across your devices to be the same. For me it doesn’t actually work very well and I believe it has lost me some high scores, but that’s another issue. What I do know is, if it is switched off on the device you are using, then any scores you make on that device will remain there. In your case I can only assume that you had not scored anything on this iPad but were relying on scores made on other devices? They will reappear next time you log in. My advice would be to avoid the sync facility like the plague! Oh happy new year to you too.
@trishohara If you are using an iOS device, it’s actually rather easy to manipulate. Use our backup guide to copy all .lua files. Remove the “hash” from highscores_hash.lua and settings_hash.lua (so they are now named just highscores and settings) and copy them back onto your device.

@steviep147 actually, most times I like that sync facility. It comes handy, when you play a couple of levels on the iPhone because the iPad (my main AB device) is at home.
But there should definitely be an offline mode!
Agreed..for some it works. Actually if you can find wifi/3g you should be able to sign in on your device and just carry on.

does anyone know what the maximum number of stars is on ABO? I have all levels 3 stars, including the 31 golden eggs, and on my rovio account it says I have 1480 stars, but the bra is not completely full… any ideas?
1480 is the cap right now. There are 45 more for the last 15 levels of Short Fuse.

I just discovered an update that I didn’t know was there so I’ve been playing Birthday Party, but I’m stuck on a level and want to “cheat”—problem is I have absolutely no idea where I am! When I checked to see the number all I see is a tiny pink cake and the number 11. So I think I’m on the first “part” and game 11, but when I go to the Leaderboard I don’t see much under #1 and 11 isn’t there. After that there are loads of #2’s etc.. Can someone tell me how to translate this? Thanks for your help.

These episodes go from right to left in the order of 2,3, & 4. The numbers are very hard to see on a small screen. Good luck.

I have 256320 on board 28-15 without using a power up and it says that score is way to high. Leaderboards have done this to me before yet I see some ridiculously high, unattainable scores without the use of a power up allowed to stand…
@jefm1970 are you sure you haven’t made a mistake, because the top score for that level so far is 157k (granted the level is only a day old), so your score would be 100k above the top score. If the score is indeed 100k above the current first place, a screenshot of the score and strat would help make @AMSlimfordy decide to raise the bar up higher.
E-Star – you must be looking at the wrong level. I have 250,240 and got the same message – “too high”- so I entered the highest score the board would accept, 250,000 as did several others. The bar is just set too low. I’m sure that Slim will adjust when time permits.
The bar has been raised. However, I removed all scores of exactly 250k since now those users can enter their correct scores.
Slim, Thanks. Could you also raise the bar on 28-14? I just got a 2-bird score of 150,270 and got the “too high” message again. I’ll post a screenshot to my album. As soon as the walkthroughs are published, I’ll post my strategies too but I suspect that they’re the same ones that most other players have used.

Can I ask a stupid question? I have read about and am aware of the extra power-up that manifests itself as a black and very angry-looking avatar on some screen shots and with a number beneath. I play this on ipad and iphone and I have never had this appear on my screens. Is there a simple explanation for this? Thanks.
@steviep147 That’s the Shockwave Power Up. If it doesn’t appear on your device, it’s because you’ve always had PUs disabled.

@steviep147, which potion did you use? Or share to explain on the breakdown page. Seems like there has been a recent increase on high scores on this one, so maybe something related to the new version?
Usual method. No mystery. Been trying to improve this for some time since last update and have got so close many times but always had a bird or three left. Anyway here’s a screenshot. Good luck with it. You’ll need a lot of patience as well.

I was moaning about this level for a long time after they “fixed” the crash glitch and made it impossible to compete. I was hoping this last update would remedy the problem. Hopefully something has been done about 27-11! Thanks to Rovio for listening.

Slim. Just playing on a PC and I’ve noticed that the level numbers on some episodes are out of sync. For example Bad Piggies 20-8 on here is actually 21-8 everywhere else. Is it just me? If not it could lead to scores being entered wrongly.
