I just set another high score, on level 7-15, after days and days trying with less then 200 points below the previous number 1. I find it a little unfortunate previous high are not retained, just to show a historical progress, and to show the score are legit when you get near so many times before finally cracking it. But from the other hand, I could see that making the top x scores hard to read as well.
Also, when you have a high score and it’s broken, do you get notified, or are you supposed to just keep track yourself?
No notifications. It would be particularly unwieldily, especially with new levels or if a rogue poster comes around.
Ah, a notification system. That is an idea I’ve been toying with. I think it if it were an opt-in system it could be pretty cool. It’s on our to-do list, but no ETA as of now.
When I originally built out the database schema for the user scores table I was going to allow multiple scores per user for the same level. This would allow someone to chart their progress. However, I later changed the schema because the sheer number of entries had the potential of substantially slowing down the entire system. I aired on the side of speed since only a handful of power users would really benefit from historical data.

World 16 is all I wanted it to be. There were some levels that were actually difficult, and many have multiple ways of finishing off. Looking forward to replaying.

There is no app. You just press the on/off button and the home button at the same time. Your screen should flash. Then, you have taken your photo

Taking screenshots on the Android is notoriously more difficult than iOS devices. Your best bet is likely to search the Android Marketplace or the Amazon Appstore for something. If you find something great please report back.

There is an app that works on specific Androids but to really make it work you probably have to have root. Got root? Its a hassle.
I remember there was a fairly recent update a while back, and the 3-star score for this one was changed I think. I remember one day I had all 189 stars for “Poached Eggs”, and then suddenly it was 188 after the update. I forgot the exact 3-star minimum, but I remember I had to replay this level to get 3 stars. Can someone investigate this?
It’s because in an attempt to syncronise Angry Birds between devices such as iOS, Android, computer, etc, they changed the roof of the structure in that level, but in doing so it made the level easier to complete, so the minimum 3 star score was raised. This happened to me as well. Don’t worry, just another level to ace!
That was level 3-5. The minimum changed from 89k to 108k. In the most recent update, this was changed back to 89k.
Thanks for putting a heads up to this. I was told about the change on 3-5, through an unofficial AB`s discussion about a month ago. Sure enough I checked then, and I was rated two stars. But my achievement still said I had a three star standing. I had tried to up the score, but gave up for the time being, and never checked again. I went back today and see it has three stars again. YES!

I signed up for Google+ a while ago and they added a game tab yesterday in which AB is an option. I played 1-1 to see how different it would be compared to the ipad, which is what I achieved all my scores with so far. I had over 35,000 in just a few tries and I can not get that what so ever on the ipad. Makes me wonder why there is such a difference. I don’t really want to add my google score as this is the only one achieved so far on another platform, but just wondering why this is different, especially since I have seen posts here saying the same about google chrome.
They have some real cool google+ AB levels however, which I wish they put in the other versions as they are fun.
1-1 is different on Google+; there is a stone block on top of the structure on which isn’t on the iOS level.
True, so maybe we can say it is “very very slightly different”
I found 1-1 to be easier in regards to scores, but 1-2 through 1-5 have been about similar, so maybe it’s just luck sometimes that makes it look this way. Could be a differences as well in some people playing on a smaller screen phone versus a full screen monitor.
The Google specific levels are fun but require you to get a bunch of friends to play along and against to unlock levels.
See my comment above related to the CHROME version of the game. After just a few tries on each level in Episode 1, I am now ranked number one on this website for episode 1 – with three top scores! I could never get anywhere near those scores after countless tries on my iphone.

Not without hacking it the same way a cheat would. It would then have to be done on a level by level basis, which would take awhile and I highly doubt is worth the effort. AB Chrome uses local storage while AB on Google+ uses cloud storage.

hey, this is not good entering score…. i mean if someone enters a random score then what? there should be a link up software which gets the score directly from the game files in our PCs, Tabs or whatever we use to play the game…. Isn’t that needed?
We have logic checks in place to prevent random scores from being entered, along with a very diligent set of users who check the leaderboards for unlikely high scores.
Yes, ideally there would be a way to link your game data directly to your account here on ABN, but that’s not possible right now. Even still, programs like GameCenter on iOS are easily hacked, and I’m sure the same could be said of any similar method if it could be employed here.
My score on 1-1 was taken down, so I put it back up. If you need a screenshot, please let me know before removing my score and I’ll get one up for you.

Not so much suspicious. We periodically purge accounts that only enter a small number of scores.
Yep, just like slim said, it got caught in the “purge” process. I would highly recommend that you add at least two more scores to the leaderboard as soon as you can. Sorry for the inconvenience, but this is one of the many ways we try and keep these boards legit.

You can use the leaderboards to see which levels have the most work to be done, and then refer to our video walkthroughs for some tips.
I used to have the same issue. Just compare your scores to the high scores using the leaderboards, and try to go after the ones with big gaps first. Use the walkthroughs to get different ideas compared to the approach you are using. Sometimes it just takes focus on one level for a few days to make great improvements.
We talked a while ago about episodic leaderboard, which would be really nice to have now. I have been working on mine and dine for a few weeks now trying to get high scores and get myself to move up the rankings, as well as overall rankings. Set a cool high score a few nights ago, and a number 2 the night after on 17-9, moving me overall to 1/908, but I have no idea of the point spread for the top 5 or top 10, to know how many more points I need to defend my spot, wherever I end up. Do you think this is coming any time soon? Obviously it’s being tracked somewhere as I shows the x/y ranking, so it would be nice to ave this, or even only as a sort option.

I guess I don’t know what platform and software you are using, but I thought that with the rankings being already there by episode, it would just be a manner of adding sub-rankings. But you guys would know better as you work with this code more often. Will keep my eyes out for when things change. Need to get my rankings up now in other episodes.
Same as you created ‘Total Score Leaderboard’ for all episodes, display leaderboard for each episode. The required data you have because it ranks everyone separately for each episode. Just display nice leaderboard for that.
I’m ranked 1256 out of 1808 for ‘Poached Eggs’ episode but am curious who is above me and who below.
Finally nailed 12-15 with 180220. Same technique as before,but perfect result. After the first bird had 106000 without popping the leftmost pig. Required a near horizontal launch of big red to demolish the rest. Still some objects not destroyed but good luck beating 180K as it took nearly 50 hours to get this.

Jonpaul2000, you’ve been having a comment party. Nothing wrong with that, but make sure you don’t duplicate or create redundant comments, as they will raise flags. Also, just so you’re aware, users only receive points on their first comment on a page, so any subsequent comments don’t help your score. Thanks for all your contributions.

Is there a legend for the badges, and a way to know how to achieve them? I see two badges on my profile, but don’t know what they mean. At the same time, I only see them when I look at my profile, but not when I look at any of the leaderboards (behind my name as I see with other users). Is there a page or something dedicated to these?
They say the names if you hover over them. The first one is always your rank — which increases over time based on points you accumulate.
Other badges are: Leaderboard Guardian (like you), Score Gatherer (like loox), News Slueth (CougRon), and SG-16 feather (pre-update, like Andreas)
Still curious how you achieve a badge, or how you assign them. I see some that say fling with x points, explosion with x points,… How do you know this when people manually enter their scores?
Also, why do some people show no badges in the Leaderboards? I don’t see any for myself, except for in my personal profile. For other players, it’s very random on what shows up. I guess I just want to understand better how to achieve them.
The points for rankings on the site currently have nothing to do with your scores on the leaderboard. Instead, points are earned for comments and visiting daily. Badges right now are manually assigned for notable contributions to the site, such as Leaderboard Guardian (which you have for monitoring false scores on the leaderboards).
Users who are Flingers (<100 points) have no rank shown in the leaderboard. All others (100+) show. Once we sort out a little more next week, we will put out a full post explaining.
Yeah, not a glitch, but I do totally realize the style makes it look like a glitch. I am working on this, so you’ll notice changes off and on. I appreciate the feedback. Actually, I think that could be a good badge (one for those who give constructive feedback).

I don’t think having badges for leaderboards is a good idea. Fist of all, the leader might change easily. Second, having badges for such rare achievements it like not having them. I mean ok, 4 users will have them and then none else… Is it not enought that we see the names of the leaders in the leaderboards’ main page?
And of course rewarding scores like this might also increase cheaters!

HaHa, don’t feel bad changingshades, this site is loaded with highly competitive members. Entering your scores is just the beginning. The object to look at those scores and work on improving them. Start with the above average scores to eliminate all the below average scores. The site is a great way to motivate you to improve .. Good Luck
And if you are stuck check the walkthrough pages and the discussions on them. Many times there are trick methods discusses there that boost the average of a level. And not knowing them you may find yourself stuck on a certain score trying to explain how most of the other players can be that better! :P
I know what you mean. I thought my scores were good until I entered them here a few months ago. Then I started playing for high scores, which was fun, but did not help my rankings very much. A few weeks ago, I started playing for rankings, going after all levels with over 12,000 difference from high. I’m ranked number 14 now, but am still working to catch up. It takes patience and sometimes luck. In certain games, you can shoot a bird the same time 200 times in a row, and at once you hit a magical score. Just keep trying, and good luck. It gets very addicting.
I know, I hated some of the Halloween levels – some people were able to get the “magic” placement in one or two tries – took me over 1 hour to get the structure to fall as I wanted it to.
Just got a few questions. I get e-mails for the topics I describe too, but often I can not find the posts here in the message board. Not sure if they are hidden in the other pages, but I could not navigate through the other pages (server errors). Where can I find these messages? Is there a way to add direct links in the e-mails, rather than the link to the general comments page. It would be nice to have a link directly to the page the comment is on, or straight to the message flow, as it if often hard to reply if you can’t even find the original message to begin with.
Additionally, I find myself often flagging scores, but not sure if this has any effect on the new badges system, compared to posting them in the message board. Some people post these bad scores here, I just flag them as I figured this is why this system was added. Just curious.
Well sometimes we delete comments that are either duplicates or irrelevant, so that could be the reason why you can’t find them.
While flagging is good, there is no record of who flags what (at least that I can see), and there are A LOT of flags roaming around. If something is clearly out of place, you are best of commenting and we can take care of it quickly. We don’t usually check up on flagged scores until they get above like 5 flags or so.
Badges are assigned manually, so commenting is best of that — but you already have the Leaderboard Guardian badge.
I guess it still would be nice to have a more direct link to posts, if possible.
As far as the badges go, looking forward to getting a full understanding on what criteria they are assigned on. For example, what’s the difference between leaderboard guardian and somebody who is deputized? At the same time, I can see a badge on some players in the overall ranking, but not on myself. Only in my personal profile. Why do some badges show up in the leaderboards, while others do not?
That’s the difference between a badge and a rank. Here’s a super basic rundown:
Ranking: Everyone starts at 0 (with the exception of a few early promoted, like manu). Comments and visiting the site earn you points automatically. We want to add more ways in the future, but that’s for now. These ranks are like Flinger, Deputized, …, Master Slinger. Also, these ranks are what appear in the leaderboards, but only if you are above Flinger (the starting rank).
Badges: These are assigned manually right now, but are for different accomplishments or contributions to the site. These badges are like Leaderboard Guardian, News Sleuth, etc.
Okay, makes sense. I have been working the past 3-4 weeks on moving up the leaderboards. I have been updating scores daily, visiting multiple times a day, checking progress in episode leaderboards and overall leaderboards. So how do I know what score I currently have, as I’m still only considered a slinger, yet feel I have been highly active on this site?
If you go to your profile and hover your mouse over your slingshot, it will say how many points you have.
That said, when we went through assigning points to some veteran members, I think you slipped through the cracks. Apologies for that. You certainly belong higher.

The score listed is the highest score on this site. But we also would not likely accept such a score. G+ is easily hacked.
Since I’m the new #1 on Mine and Dine and haven’t posted or commented yet, I thought let’s say hi ;). I didnt play all episodes has extensively as Mine and Dine (obviously). I played The Big Set-up quite a lot and Mine & Dine later on. I’m playing on my Nokia N8 and lost all my stars when I updated to version 1.6.0. Since symbian had to wait VERY long for v1.6.3 I kept playing world 15. My target was reaching over 2million points. At that moment I didn’t know that noone on this site had 2mil on world 15, so I decided to play world 16 quite a lot too, until I (nearly) reached 4mil. Havent played world 17 that much yet, so still some points to gain I guess. Maybe I’ll work on my overall rank as well, but I dont have that much time on my hands. So we’ll see.

Hey, you took my number 1 rank away. I started on this site as well just entering scores, to compare to other, and then playing mine and dine a lot and eventually became the number one. Then I worked on overall ranking. I was way out there overall but am now number 11. I could go back and try to make up some points in mine and day and regain my number 1 spot, but I’m more interested in breaking into the top 10 first, and need to improve my scores in other episodes.
Can I get my points on the leaderboard without writing each levels points?

While I appreciate being able to quickly see what my rank per episode and rank overall is, and I also appreciate being able to easily drill down to see how many points I’m off from the top score and average score for each level within each episode, can I make a suggestion to see what my rank is per level without having to go to the individual level page? In other words, when I click the “Your Leaderboards” link can it display my rank for each level as well as how many points I’m off the high and avg for each level? Thanks so much if this is possible.
This is something on the to-do list, but it would require quite a bit of work and a partial redesign of the display. Eventually, we hope this will exist, but there are some other aspects to work on first.
I see we have a new player who immediately jumped into the top spot, and has been moving around the top Leaderboards. 15-3 for example seems like an insane score. Should possibly be verified. Not that I want to doubt players, but some level of verification may be needed for somebody coming in and right away ranking this high.
I noticed quite some inconsistency in the scoring at 15-3 (doing exactly the same over and over again can yield you between 115-140k). I just played it again and scored 4k extra, and I see how 142/143k is possible, so 146k might be kind of a lucky, but possible score.
His total score matches his GameCenter account, so I think it’s all good.
Sounds fair, just wanted to make sure it was all legit. I guess I’m going to need to return to Mine and Dine to regain my leader spot. I have been working on the other episodes to get in the top 10 or top 5 for each, but I just have not had enough time yet to achieve this. And then when people start competing with that number 1 spot, my attention goes to this, and not the other episodes, which need more work.
It’s amazing that with more than 28 million points that his (her) score is only 30 points higher than angryGRX (who still holds the lead in Seasons). That’s where the real battle for first place is right now.

4-16… Shoot high, break through top glass square, hope for a high score. :). At least that’s how I did it. I’m 10k short off the high score though. I’d love to hear of a better way.
I didn’t have Birdday Party on my Mac, even though I have the App Store set up to notify me of any updates. Even stranger, when I logged in to the App Store and clicked on “updates”, the printed message said that there weren’t any, but the icon showed that there was one. It was Birdday Party, which was released two days ago, so I have it now. I wonder if any other Mac (and PC) players are having the same trouble. I’m going to send a message to the App Store about it.
Well, the App Store responded that the problem had been fixed, and referred me to the Angry Birds problem resolution department for any other questions. Because I was having some, I went there. While I couldn’t figure out how to actually communicate with a real person again, I found many posts from people having the same two problems. First, some of the birds, particularly the one that inflates, were causing the game to freeze up when you used them. Since I use full screen, that meant that I had to force my computer to turn off and then restart in order to regain control. I went and played a couple of games on Rio with no trouble, and when I returned to 18-1, this problem seemed to have cleared up. I don’t know if it was using the other game that helped or if they slipped in some kind of fix without my knowing it, but it is working, at least for now. Second, they greatly increased the sensitivity of the touchpad when in the full screen mode. I generally put my finger on it and click when the time is right, but now even the lightest touch sets of the bird’s special features. That hasn’t changed, and I don’t know if I can get used to it after having played so many games (and oh so many times) the other way, and I really don’t like using the little hand to launch birds, so I hope that there’s a fix for this, too. Anyone have any ideas?
Maybe not related, but everything you said,i had the same issues with my andrioid, no notification from app store,no updates available, phone freezing up, shutting down,slow redponding.was drivng me crazy. Then it seemed fine, then started again. I also thought it had something to do with installing words with friends, seems like when I uninstalll the word game, the problem goes away, as far as the freezing, and slow response. Gl let me know if you find a fix:)
I strongly suggest, if you have words with freinds from the app store that you uninstalll it. For some reason AB does not work properly if you have it.. sounds crazy..but I have been dealing with this off and on for weeks.everytime I reinstall words my AB messes up. I have installed got the last time. Again Gl
I don’t have Word with Friends, but my touch pad is still “hair trigger” when I’m in the full-screen mode on ABo, but not with Rio or Seasons. It started when I downloaded Birdday Party. Are any other Mac users having the same problem?
Rovio is still investigating the “hyper-sensative touchpad” for Mac users. From what I have heard from them, they are really disappointed that Mac is having these issues.

Level 2-15: Reasonable player, so may be genuine, but could equally be typo.

Per tedschultz: For those who are curious here’s how it went. Shot the 1st bird just over the ledge on the left of the structure. Dropped the egg just before it hit the wall. Generated enough rubble to drop through the center and set off the TNT. Some rubble fell left and took out a pig or two and the deflated bird bounced over the top, fell down the right side and took out at least one pig. A one-bird shot. It literally took forever. I’ve gotten the one-bird result a couple of times since, but all were less than that score.

I’ve gotten 3 stars on everything EXCEPT 5-21. I know I’m doing something wrong but I can’t figure out what. Just can’t get enough destruction with few enough birds. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

@ted – when I get really stuck, I go onto YouTube. Search under the level you need, and there will be loads of examples of three star results from all over the world. Take (1) one of them or (2) combine the various methods. It’s never failed me yet. Good luck!
Thanks, I hadn’t thought of that. But now I know the problem. I’m on Chrome (online). The stone structures are not the same (one less level) and there’s no way to shoot over the top hit the triangle, and have the bomb fall through. No one has posted a walkthrough for Chrome yet so I’ll keep flogging on.
