Optimus_Pig@optimuspigA note regarding timing:
Can anyone verify my math / understanding?
According to the in-game newsfeed, this Event ends at 16:00 PST on March 19 / 0:00 UTC March 20.
Similarly, each day’s Challenge ends at 16:00 PST / 0:00 UTC.
However for most of us in North America, Daylight Savings Time (“spring forward”) starts this weekend.
So this means that once you’re on daylight savings, then each day’s end/start time is then going to be 17:00 PDT / 20:00 EDT / 0:00 UTC (according to a quick googling, UTC does not observe daylight savings, as it is a fixed reference time).
Does that make sense?
zhianjo@zhianjoThanks for the reply but i never reach the sixty i’m always between the 56 and 59 maybe it is that i do every run with Grimlock and Glassor. Well as long as i can have Windblade and several accessories then it’s ok by me.
MillForce2k@millforce2kI was also thinking about DST tonight. I don’t think it will affect the ending time, but we may lose out on a recharge bar depending on how the game calculates it. E.G., If I run all four at midnight, I’d normally have a full charge at 4 AM. Will I now have a full recharge at 5 AM?
Optimus_Pig@optimuspigI don’t think we lose any playing time – it should still be a full 24 hours.
The catch is that some people may not realize what happened, and stop playing at 16:00 PDT / 19:00 EDT when in actuality they should be able to play until 17:00 PDT / 20:00 EDT.
Optimus_Pig@optimuspigMathematically, I don’t believe it’s possible to max out the 550 tokens from today’s Challenge without spending gems.
Based on the ladder progression, it looks like the 100 token level will come at 1,750 targets.
At an average of 62 targets per run, you’d need 29 runs to get to 1,750. If you can somehow up your average to 63 targets/run you’re still going to need 28 runs.
So expect to spend gems on at least one set of recharges, if not two, if you want to max out the Challenge.
Francis Crawford@franciscrawfordAfter my first couple of runs, I’ve been fine with any of the three Grimlocks. I just have to pick out the missiles from the smoke and shoot them down before they hit me.
I’ve gotten my health knocked down on a couple of runs since then, but I’ve always completed them without paying the keep-going gems.
I find competitions more challenging and hence more fun than regular runs, for two reasons — no ally (always) and more difficult objectives (often). So I don’t mind paying gems for extra chances to do runs.
Francis Crawford@franciscrawfordEvery run I’ve had, without exception, has been in the 61-63 points range. It’s literally 62 plus or minus 1. After 10 runs, I was at exactly 620 points.
nextreal@nextrealBarely 16 minutes into the “Enter The Silverbird” event, there were already 6 players with more than 3800 tokens.
How is this possible? Bug or cheat?
This makes me angry!

bell@bellSame here. I started the competition as soon as it opened up. Some people already had over 4000 points!? There just would not have been enough time to obtain scores like that so fast. I am guessing the points weren’t cleared from the last competition (the Soundwave one). So… should we not even bother? I sure hope the developers can fix this.
Tomlad@talmud@franciscrawford Yeah thats what i’m getting. Also my e.grimlock is level 12, Grey slam currently being upgraded to level 15 and goldbite is level 11.
MillForce2k@millforce2kGood point. They added the PST time as a reference to help avoid confusion. Since the official start/stop is 0:00 UTC, today’s end is 7E/4P and will be 8E/5P tomorrow and beyond. Hopefully, they will update the news feed so people don’t stop early.
Pampeans@pampeans“Based on the ladder progression, it looks like the 100 token level will come at 1,750 targets.

Thanks for this! I’ll plan to hit 1,750 so I won’t fall behind.
Tip for iOS: I’m using photoblast and if you trigger it after the teletran has come, right as you pass the last rock formation before entering, photoblast will shoot two minions off-screen; one is above and behind E. Grimlock and the other is above in front of him next to the teletran. This will bring your score to either 64 or 63 depending on which run you are on and assuming you hit every target. This is due to the stupid scrolling problem plaguing the iPad…
Optimus_Pig@optimuspigGood tip. Basically any offensive direct-fire energonicon like Photoblast or Focusfire or Snipernaut.
starscream@starscreamSorry to hear some people are having problems this time around as the challenge has gone flawlessly for me. I’m currently #1 with 988 pigs and haven’t spent any gems that’s a first.
It’s good to see someone at Rovio is listening to us with the new transformer only costing 4,000 tokens this time and the addition of a new enemy boss. Hope there’s more to come like that.
otter@otterA few things I have noticed….. Everyone ( atleast who posted) are getting the same missions…..everyone seams to be getting the same results,… 60 – 63 per run all in the water….I slso noticed that rovio has changed the cycle of doubling after events…before you had to close out of the app to get another coin doublet vid to show up….. Let’s see what day 2 brings…..
Optimus_Pig@optimuspigLooks like the Day 2 targets are the same as for Day 1: Flying Pigs and the Helicopter Pig Boss.
Pampeans@pampeansThis time we’re able to get 2 energon cubes early in the run and triggering any offensive direct fire Energonicon helps to quickly dispatch the boss pig.
Optimus_Pig@optimuspigAre scores still averaging around 61/62 each run?
Francis Crawford@franciscrawfordOn the second day I’m getting all the same node, but it’s a different one — the desert landscape.
There’s a little more variability in the scores — looks like the 55-60 range.
I tried one run without a Grimlock. It was horrific. I’m right back to my usual mode of Grimlock-only. Is there anything except Grimlocks that reliably takes out missiles, even when they’re coming in via an evasive approach.
However, I now think Glassor is not the correct Energon this time. Better to use another offensive one that’s more single-target. I’ve switched to Photoblast.
The leaderboard looks fine this time.
Pampeans@pampeansYes, but I had one with 59.
Optimus_Pig@optimuspigOK thanks. Let’s see how this impacts the climb up today’s Challenge ladder. It’s starting out with 10 tokens = 50 targets again. I wonder if it’ll end at 100 tokens = 1,750 targets, or if they’ve tweaked it.
Pampeans@pampeansUgh! There’s off-screen minions again. I just got a 56, but at least two minions dropped down as EG entered the teletran and you do not get credit unless you kill them. Save an energon cube and trigger Photoblast on the way to the teletran, such that it shoots them off-screen before they drop down.
Optimus_Pig@optimuspigIt would be really nice if we knew what accessories become available for Silverblade, and how much they cost.
I hate trying to budget my play without a proper target to work towards.
