Possible Retirement of ToonsTV

Home Forums General Discussions Forum Possible Retirement of ToonsTV

  • ToonsTV is Rovio’s response to the ever-growing viewership of online content.  For a few years now, Rovio has entertained thousands with the likes of Angry Birds Toons, Piggy Tales, and more.  Today, I give you what appears to be proof of the end of ToonsTV, but the start of something new.

    The Facts

    1.     Type ToonsTV in a search engine.  Two links come up.  One link is to the ToonsTV Youtube channel, which posted trailers of the upcoming toons, but hasn’t been updated in four months.  The other appears to be the web version of ToonsTV, which redirects you to the Angry Birds Youtube channel when clicked.  Recently, the Angry Birds Youtube channel has begun posting new episodes of Angry Birds Blues and compilations of the other Angry Birds series (Angry Birds Toons, Angry Birds Stella, and Piggy Tales).  It appears to be that new episodes are being produced, without the ToonsTV platform.

    2.     About two years ago, Rovio released a ToonsTV app for mobile devices, for “family entertainment on the go.”  That app has been removed from the app stores, but seems to still function as normal.

    3.     Today (8/22/17), Angry Birds Epic received a new update.  In the official patch notes released on Facebook, “ToonsTV was removed from the game – the theater on the cobalt plateaus is under construction and will return with a new program very soon!”

I think Rovio has something new planned for their viewership.  If anyone else has found any information about this subject, add it below, and I’ll gladly update this post.
