    “Some advice me to get Sea Dog, some advice me to get Thunderbird, some like Skulkers…”

    Aw, Yosh, that’s sweet, referring to me as “some” WRT TBird. It’s ok, I know I’m on an island with that advice.

    “and you know whichever one you choose, your next week’s Objectives will contain one of the other two…”

    Ha! No doubt!

    @smwforever45

    @pointless
    I did get T-bird as a stand-alone objective before, multiple times.

    Sure, Sea Dog is awesome, no doubt ;) It’s just Sea Dog is a bit more expensive than T-bird, and I have been getting more T-bird than Sea Dog objectives lately.
    I’ve still got a few hours to think about it, anyway. I’ll definitely get a class. ;)

    The last one is so true.
    I always used to get Witch objectives. Once I finally had the class, they didn’t appear again.
    Bet the same will happen with the Stone Guard/Princess objective. XD

    @poptimus
    I am very sure you’re not alone with your opinion. ;) I used the word “some” for simplification reasons.

    @pointless

    You are screwed either way, yes :)

    I will only point out one last time that you will use SeaDog way more than the other two in PvE, if that is even a relevant thing any more. But the Events still are out there, and I know you need Mastery…

    Plus, as part of a Power Team in Arena, if you win the toss (once again, is that even relevant?), you can and will win fairly often in two turns with Chucks’s Rage and Gang Up.

    JJAtelier
    @vinnieb00

    Go for Sea Dog, I enjoy thunderbird a lot but because you will always have the initiative in PVE, his gang up plus + chuck rage have impeccable synergy.

    Pointless
    @pointless

    I would think that the fact that SeaDog is more expensive might be rather leading…

    I will make sure my Birds are outfitted with these Classes, you have a day to run a few 10-Waves in the Caves. Try the three out, see which works the best with your preferred set up, if you feel like borrrowing one of my Birds.

    @all will you help our Yoshi make an informed decision by doing the same?

    Suzy
    @suzyq

    As everyone has said whichever birds you don’t choose they will come up a lot. I do use Thunderbird a fair bit but use SeaDog a lot more.

    @pointless
    made a very good suggestion about borrowing birds to try out before you buy.

    RedYoshi45
    @smwforever45

    I didn’t see Skulkers or T-bird outfitted on any of my friends so far, would be cool if you could let me try them out in a long cave :)
    Sea Dog is great, I got to try him 2 or 3 times now.

    @bubbley

    @smwforever45 I am using my Skulkers quite a bit at the moment. You should be able to find it even if you have to log in and out. I will also set up Thundebird.

    Guys I thought its 50k mastery from lvl 12 to 13? It says 32,5 k on my screen

    angryde
    @angryde

    @smwforever45 I agree, I always love borrowing Sea Dog, simultaneously linked to Wizard and Spies. Such fun!! :-D One of my friends has a SD that does 3500 damage or something insane… awesomeness.

    RedYoshi45
    @smwforever45

    So far I borrowed two Elite Skulkers (from @partshade and @pointless), and one Elite Sea Dog (from @bubbley). No Thunderbird in my list so far, and I have signed out and back in 5 or 6 times already. :( I’ll keep trying.

    EDIT: Finally got a Thunderbird! Unfortunately, it’s from @bubbley, whom I just borrowed a bird from. :( Drat.

    @seraphion

    50k from 12 to 13 is long gone. That was something that Rovio changed a while ago.
    13 to 14 takes 37,500 points, and 14 to 15 takes 50,000 points.

    @smwforever45
    When I have such choice like yours I always go with more expensive than cheaper. I feel like it’ll be less waiting for next cheaper one ;) I know this sounds crazy but… thatss my point of view ;)

    And about arena objectives… After I got all classes I barely see premium classes as objectives now. One per month maybe?

    <edit>
    Aah, I just saw your post in ESG thread. I didn’t know about the price. Both 260 regular price and now TB has bigger discount. I would go with TB in this case.

    Seadog Wiz and Skulkers is my favorite team. I used it a long time.

    Napoleongl
    @napoleongl

    I always have my tbird equipped so keep restarting @smwforever45
    My personal preference is that sea dog is best to use if you have the blessed set in arena since it keeps his health high. Valiant and angry set benefits more from tbird. Skulkers are ok but I personally find them harder to use than tbird.
    But everybody plays differently so it is a matter of taste.

    RedYoshi45
    @smwforever45

    I finally got to borrow @napoleongl’s Elite Thunderbird and tried it out in Cave 15, where there’s many pigmies. I also tried out @dragonofheart73’s Elite Sea Dog, in Cave 15 as well. Did the previous tests in Cave 17 which has a lot of brutes.

    Conclusion after several battles:

    Sea Dog:
    + strong against single, strong enemies, or a flock with a high-health leader
    + has the strongest single attack at very high health
    + is independent of “Mana or not Mana”
    + if Gang Up is on both allies, it basically means 4 instead of 3 attacks per turn – awesome!
    +/- Gang Up can be used on Bomb himself too, and it will work – but I kinda question the use of that since Bomb will attack twice no matter whether you buff him on the first round or you attack instead
    – strength depends on health – I could see disadvantages for PvP if you lose the coin toss

    Skulkers:
    + good against single, strong enemies, because of the buff it causes
    + good against large groups of regular enemies too, because with its secondary ability it can spread negative effects that would normally only affect a single enemy to all enemies
    – secondary ability is best to use together with Druid, Guardian, Cannoneer, Knight, Priestess or Witch, and except for Witch all classes have only niche uses in PvP IMO
    – if the opponent in PvP has the Mana set negative effects won’t always go through

    Thunderbird:
    + strong against large groups of regular enemies
    + buff causes extra damage, like Skulkers
    + shield is basically Mage’s Shock Shield but on all your allies and not just one
    – again, the debuff is dependent on whether or not the enemy in PvP uses Mana
    – not so good against single enemies – but that’s the case with all of Chuck’s classes

    They’re all good! Doesn’t really help my decision. XD
    I however wonder which class I could use at low mastery already… They’ll all be pretty weak at the beginning but maybe Sea Dog would be the best choice?

    Napoleongl
    @napoleongl

    @smwforever45
    Apart from some events and the daily dungeon; how much do you play outside the arena?
    That’s why my advice is TB; it buys you an extra round when enemy chuck or spies attack and you have the shields up, the damage with lightning is huge (buffed or not) and the extra damage is virtually the same as Skulkers.
    All of the will be weak on low mastery, but I say sea dog suffers more; my rank12 non elite SD does just over 2k damage which honestly isn’t that much nowadays.

    RedYoshi45
    @smwforever45

    @napoleongl
    Not really much to play out there, although I do sometimes play some levels, mainly from Cave 17, to give my friends some FE’s.
    Then there’s the daily dungeon, the daily golden pig, sometimes grinding at SRC, the campaigns and invasions… and that’s it really.

    There’s Sea Dogs out there doing 4k damage… if that isn’t devastating.

    I’ve got 26 hours left to think about it, anyway. :P

    Also, my Wizard just reached mastery rank 13! :D
    13 -> 14 is indeed still at 37,500.

    Napoleongl
    @napoleongl

    @smwforever45
    Absolutely but getting your SD to 4K is one hell of a grind compared to getting TB to the point where it’s shield knocks out enemy chuck!
    For now I’d say you’re better of borrowing those SD from high level players and buying TB but that’s only my own pref since I play that way!

    RedYoshi45
    @smwforever45

    @napoleongl
    True but it depends on enemy Chuck whether you can knock him out or not. Some that I encounter are down to 2.5k HP, others are way up at 4.5k HP, and some of my friends’ Chucks have even more than that (e.g. @pointless’ E.T.bird (lol) has 5,288 health at M13). Not all Chucks can be knocked out like that – but I agree, it could help a lot.

    And I can’t borrow birds for Arena battles. XD

    EDIT: Ok I made up my mind so far that I can say Skulkers is out for now. Great and fun class, but not really the yellow of the egg because it works especially great with classes I rarely use nowadays. Sure, I could have Skulkers buff themselves. But that doesn’t change the Mana problem – and with so many of them being around, I’m not sure if I want to constantly McCool™ them away.

    Leaves me with Thunderbird or Sea Dog…
    While Sea Dog is required for one of my objectives today, we’ve also got double arena points right now making it much easier to collect the missing 3k points.
    While Sea Dog performs amazing in battle it’s not all that useful until I got it to at least mastery rank 7 or something. And Sea Dog prefers high health which isn’t always the case in Arena battles.
    On the other hand, same goes for Thunderbird – the shield needs to develop first, and at very low mastery, Chuck is somewhat low on HP.

    Still, I tend towards Thunderbird. I will make my final mind up after I’ve borrowed @pointless’ E.T.bird for the Daily Dungeon. I’ll go for Elite mode I think.

    Pointless
    @pointless

    Hey, I’m working on getting him to M14…give me a break :D

    RedYoshi45
    @smwforever45

    @pointless
    No rush! I just edited my post saying I’ll use him for the dungeon that opens in a few hours. :P

    Pointless
    @pointless

    Just remember Mastery goes pretty quickly at the beginning, you’ll have SeaDog up to a useable level in no time. However, I do agree he will be less useful in Arena until he is at a comparable level to your other Birds, as if he is targeted right away, he will be useless until he revives…but that may leave your Wizard still standing.
    I do use SeaDog often in Arena, as even if I lose the toss, it is not him who is targeted, which, barring any TJ or massive AoE against, still leaves him dangerous for the subsequent turn.
    Note I do use TJ myself, which is obviously a large factor in my preference for SeaDog, as a timely proc makes him even more useful.

    And thank you for the tm nod…rotfl :D

    RedYoshi45
    @smwforever45

    @pointless
    If I take Wizard and Witch or Wizard and Spies with me to the arena, usually both are KO’d in the first turn if I lose the coin toss. Not nice :(

    I know! Once Sea Dog is strong enough he’s a great class to bring. But as long as he’s weak… :(

    I’ve yet to collect TJ. :P I did get the Stun and Weakness emblems though, two I didn’t have before. Weakness will be great against those nasty Blessed+Sweet teams and against Witch. I want Resurrection more, though.

    I have easy answer on how to decide on TB or Seadog….. Toss a coin.
