Issues buying gems

Hello everyone! Anyone else here have problems buying gems? I am connected to WiFi, can play games (and watch video to earn extra points etc) but each time I attempt to buy gems or an event bundle, I'm told I need to cvheck my internet connection, which is always fine. I contacted Rovio who gave me the usual spiel about checking my device for memory, clearing cache, not playing for more than ten mins. My device is brand new and it is perfectly happy. I have even reinstalled the game! Thanks in advance.
