It does sometimes feel frustrating getting blues as the video reward when there’s a stone tower left or having pigs surviving from a collapsed tower, but that’s just how random the game can be.

@hank
– I’ve felt for a while that there should at least be a rule saying that when you fling your last bird and it fills the Destruct-o-meter or you watch a video to get another one, you don’t get the same one immediately after that. No joke, I lost a close Arena match once because my last bird was Blues and the last room I reached was almost stone. I fired it, managed to kill an exposed pig and fill the Destruct-o-Meter, then got another Blues, which was useless. Watched a video and then got another Blues. Certainly anything’s possible when it’s completely random – you could conceivably flip a coin 50 time and always get heads. But this situation is a good argument in favor of programming in an exception to the randomness when a player is out of birds.

I’ve noticed that when you have every card and spell in the deck (by starting the Arena or any other level with all five spells) and you fill the Destruct-o-meter with your first bird/spell, you get back the exact one you just used because the system will never give you a duplicate of a card you already have. If you fill it twice with just that one shot, you will still only get one extra card, because there’s nothing left to give you for the second one. So there’s at least a precedent set for limiting the randomness in certain scenarios. if you can limit it when we have every single card, you should also be able to limit it when we only have one card.
